@@notamethadict that's the joke. They designed her with 9 legs instead of 8, which is why he was dumbfounded with Hasbro's intelligence. Also I was quoting somebody, not making a statement.

Night Countess is technically not APC Toys' original work - it's based on a 3D printed kit that got some attention online about six years ago. I've read elsewhere that the person who created the kit might now work for APC Toys, but there's not exactly an abundance of information about them. Also, I had exactly the same problem with the larger spider legs: turns out you're meant to fold the side panels of the rotor section back, so they're not as close to the body. Not quite sure how it works, but the legs stay pegged in much more securely, and it puts them at a much less wonky angle, making her a lot easier to pose in predator/spider mode.
From what I've read, Transformers Prime got hit by a lot of unfortunate factors. The big one was that Hasbro and toy stores banked hard on Dark of the Moon, but then the toyline didn't perform to expectations--like, ROTF was still getting toys released well into 2010, and DOTM didn't even manage to get the last wave out in a lot of territories. There was also a stock market crash in 2011, and I think it got Hasbro skittish and ready to tighten belts, especially given how much Prime and the Hub was costing them. Because of this, a lot of the 2012-era lines saw a pretty noticeable budget cut. Fall of Cybertron was one of the biggest sufferers, but Prime RID also had a lot of visible messiness, and Airachnid is the peak of it.
I hope we also get a figure remake of silverbolt from beast machines. Maybe not a super show accurate one, but maybe take some design liberties like making his wings fold into a cape in robot mode, making his alt mode a Griffin, changing the scale and color palette to be a voyager and silver and purple, and giving him a new headsculpt that looks cooler.
8:53 you can fix the issue of the solidity of the big spider legs by folding the connection panels so that they are perpendicular to the shoulders like a double T. Sure it makes them stick out the back a little more, but it's worth the vast increase in the strength of the connection.
Lol I understood completely when you complained about the original’s arms. Rather than get the APC version, I actually customized my original Airachnid for more paint, articulation, less kibble on the back, and a proper spider mode with awesome legs. All that and it still transforms as normal. Despite all that, I have NO IDEA what to do to make the arms look good.
Ball joints arent loose, theyre just harder to tolerance right, since instead of being a 2-part cylinder with one axis of rotation, you have a sphere and an inverted sphere with all three axies of rotation and you have to use the more bendy unpaintable plastic on either the ball or the socket, so it can sometimes end up loose due to an inability to do things right. I'm looking at you, core class optimus prime's forearms being made of the same paintable plastic as the shoulders.
I wish there were more non G1 3rd party figures. Theres a few prime characters and those animated huffer and pipes but thats it. I want more 3rd party animated, unicron trilogy, beast wars, marvel comics, early idw, and some weird obscure stuff.
For spider mode her robot legs fold in more compactly to form more of a spider body. The connection panels on her back for the spider legs need to flip out so you can attach the leg pieces to the other side of the panel and that's a secure hold.
I wish I didn't sleep on APC Toys, this one looks great, love the head sculpt and I'd love to get the other but I feel like it's gonna be too tough to backtrack and get the earlier releases at this point.

I don't have any Airachnid, and i do damn loved her, but i am always discovering something to play around with my transformers. OK. So I admit, that i am going for third parties and leave hasbro for good, because the yellowing issues on the toys since 2019, which is still not solved. Someone showed off his Shattered Glass soundwave, and has already yellowing, not to mention SG Strascream plastic yellowing (after 2 months, together with Tigatron and Artfire, almost 2 years after Kingdom Dinobot is changing color) AND plastic breaking on the yellowing parts (reported by some after 8 months buying it) , and the Budget excuse that is so full of crap.
original airachnid is like they put the guy responsible for the star wars transformers on it
You didn't have to kill the designer like that, man

The worst part about the original one is that someone had to have held it in hand and been like "yup, this will sell", and SOMEHOW, they were right
