I love your content style of showing your trials and tribulations with both knitting and crochet even though it’s not really a tutorial I feel as though u give a lot of information on how to free hand things and that’s basically how I knit/crochet all my items
i can't remember where i first learned this but for crocheting in the round you can get a straight seam if you turn your work every round and go back the way you came! it's kinda different from knit where you can just keep working in a continuous circle. hope it helps :)
I've never clicked so fast at a discussion on knitting vs crocheting 🤪. Knitting or crocheting socks, that's the question I've pondered ceaselessly. Your experience at 4:27 is also what I went through, many times 😫. But your knitted sock at 5:23 looks so picture perfect that it's criminal.
I think you would really enjoy making a crochet waistcoat stitch sock. I know you mainly do free hand knitting/ Crochet but Bhooked has a tutorial/ pattern using that stitch. I haven’t made them but they look really cute.
Forgot to add that I ended up with a pair of monster socks, but I used DK yarn. I feel like with the right yarn, they will look good. What I like the most about crocheting is that it's very easy to frog and you can always modify as you go without knowing anything (talking about me!). Like you, I will recommend crocheting socks first to get the hang of how to structure a sock, then knit later. One can never have too many socks, even those loafer styles you don't dare to go out with.
I know this may not be what you meant but monstrous socks sound pretty great to me 😅 been wondering about DK socks as well. Agree with you about the ease of crochet when it comes to zero planning, and that you can never have too many socks!
ok, but I LEARNED A THING: shift stitches???? have I been living under a rock? (under a blanket to be precise) but that means that I am now confident enough to try crochet project in the round, and laugh at those who have a twisted sweater on ravelry (because it is very productive and will for sure ... make me, uh , feel better or something) so I just checked a free pattern I like and it does indeed mention shift stitches!!!!!!
while I know what the answer would be, how do you like the fit of each? Sock knitting is my favorite portable project, so just this few months I've made 3 socks that have tabi toes (one of them had 3*3 checkers pattern and took me a month).
Tabi toes and checkers is a combination and a half! Although I like the fit of the knit sock more (you already knew this haha), with the right yarn I think the crochet has a lot of potential.
will you ever make a tutorial for your other projects? love the vid btw, i crochet a lot but have never knitted and it’s been in my head for a while. might start learning :)

Thank you 💕 so great to hear this from another free hand knitter + crocheter

Looking forward to trying this, thank you!
no way, that’s a great tip! thanks :)
Your calm despair is weirdly soothing ty

it was a rollercoaster for sure 😂 still wondering where that extra stitch came from
I like crocheting things like this in a spiral. Just saves a lot of stress over ending rounds
I was literally JUST looking at how to make socks and ordered some sock yarn
Thank you for this 🫶🏾
glad I could help!
knitted socks are everything. so beautiful!
this is some of the best narration i’ve ever seen.

I like crocheting with a heavier weight yarn to make house slippers. crochet’s kinda too thick for socks.

You got this!
They are a game changer... but at what cost?! (just kidding)
blanket > rock

@@ZhadeLang maybe after you go through your cotton stash, you can experiment with felting crochet/ knit fabric for slippers
I've wanted to try both felting and slippers, but combining them together would be interesting

Thank you :) I have some tutorials on my second channel @zhaded for techniques I used in projects here that you might find useful.
I wish if you used a pattern you’d list it, or list the inspiration pattern for us to look into … awesome video! ❤
She freehands!
