Did I miss the part in the print on demand where you said you’d list the high quality print on demand places? I think the video just skipped over it and I’m really interested in upgrading my PoD game 💪
Hi Kelsey great video. Your site looks great. Your prints are on a shop named Inprint but you didn’t mention it on the video. Could you tell us about that?
@@pat_dieselas per today, the print space only do for Squarespace and in the UK.. Giclee is integrated with Etsy and in the US.. I guess it'll be beneficial if you're an artist from different country & continent but has consumer base in these countries
Thank you so much. For me I am 60 years old now and love drawing. I did it at school. But I was always told no-one would be interested in my work. At last I’ve overcome the negative comments after all these years and I’ve decided I’ll go for it. So thanks again Kelsey.
Hi Kelsey! I'm an artist and I've wanted to start an online shop for years, but the whole process is so intimidating to me. Thank you for the recommendations and being so transparent with your process. Your videos have been such a great inspiration! : )
I have to tell you I love your advice! It's all relevant, and I love the stance you take of providing a quality product. I watch so many business videos and even take courses. They are all so repetitive. "Gouge the consumer" "dabble in everything" "make quick no effort products." It's so refreshing that the old and tried way of making something people want and that gives value is still around! So refreshing.
I can't express to you how grateful I am for what you're doing with your channel. Thank you for showing up and doing the things -- it's really inspiring :)
Super valuable, thank you Kelsey. Focusing on what your community wants and knowing in advance what people want is extremely important. Pre-selling products has been a game changer over the years. Brilliant.
I have a 9-5 job and living in the country where shipping to other continents would cost a lot, POD is the only way for me to get at least an acceptable profit. Also, I can focus on my next painting instead of worrying about the packing and shipping and drain out all my little time and energy I have left.
Been following you for like two years and I'm genuinely tearing up over your shop opening announcement! I'm so proud of you and I admire you so muuuuch!
This video is very helpful I’ve talked about selling my art for years I’m tired of just talking about it. It’s the confidence to even take one step forward that prevents me. I know nothing about business. It’s uncharted territories and my adhd makes paying attention to one thing and one task it’s challenging
I absolutely love this video because I can tell you love to do art! Selling your art is just a means to being able to do more art. I want to come at art commerce with that same energy! Making money has become increasingly imperative since prices have been driven skywards, but as an artist, I am in a particularly advantageous position because now is a better time than ever to turn my hobby into my income source. I’m very grateful to artist/content creators like yourself who are showing the rest of us how to get where y’all are at. They say it’s lonely at the top, so I want to keep y’all company!
I had to halt my art business because of so many shipping issues and etsy's so competitive I can't gain traction on my digital products but your videos make me want to try again. Keep up the wonderful work!
USPS will pick your stuff up off your porch with a scheduled pick up. Game changer!! Just an FYI bc I also hate going to the Post Office. I never go now. 😜
I really love the new shop and the prints you offer! 🤩 I am stunned at your growth as an artist, and as a TH-camr, I've been here since about 10k subs (which sounds like it was a really long time ago, but it's not, which is so awesome!!)
I started painting out of the blue a few months ago. I just bought half decent paint and brushes and started painting scenery. It turned out that somehow I had a knack for painting that I didn't know existed! I didn't do art in school, I've never painted before. It was just the result of built up energy from me being generally housebound cause of mental illness! I'd love to sell my art maybe one day, but right now I know that as soon as I make it my job I'll lose passion 😢
You have Van Gogh Syndrome. He wasnt too urgent to sell his paintings, he somewhat expressed that to his brother. His very kind brother, Theo, was supporting him completely.
@@nomoniker7917 This is a lovely comment! I didn't know that Van Gogh felt that way too, thanks for this. I thought I knew van Gogh, but you've just she'd more light on him as an artist for me to discover ❤️
@Ciaraskeleton Its an extremely interesting but tragic history. To be really honest, some of the details & even his lesser known paintings are a bit disturbing. He was really troubled. His brother was the behind-the-scenes hero. Try not to let the history change how you see or feel about his work. That can happen.
Always love and appreciate your videos. So helpful and encouraging. Really hoping to start selling some artworks this year and its so hard to gauge what kind of products your "people" would want to spend their hard earned money on. I get frustrated and then just give up again
Congrats on the launch! Your work is BEAUTIFUL. I need to do a relaunch soon and hone in on what I really want to sell. I need to hone a lot of things. My brand is a mess hahaha
Boo yah! 🎉 Very valuable info Kelsey❤ as always! Thanks so very much. Last year I printed art for an art fair and have had no idea if I really want to keep doing that to sell on my site, or even if they will sell. Time is the most valuable thing we have and I'd rather sink it into perfecting my skills and getting my business shit together. Love the prints, nice work!
With print on demand, you don't have any control over the quality of customer service. You lose the ability to personalize the packaging. Plus, it's way less profit. I actually really enjoy making the items. It's my favorite part. I think POD would take all the joy out of everything
I think POD is great! It leaves you MORE time for just focusing on your art, so you don't waste time doing non-art, mundane things.. And with a number of POD's now, you CAN personalize your shipments to some extent. With many you can upload your logo and it will appear on the packing list, and your name (or company name), will appear as the one shipping and on the return address. Some will let you have an insert or two with your customer's shipment. Sometimes it's free, other times there may be a small fee. I would much rather have that TIME to create MORE new art (which means more sales), then make my place a warehouse full of products, big piles of boxes and polybags in several sizes, rolls of packing tape, etc AND still have to print out shipping labels and affix them to hundreds of envelopes, boxes and bags. Whew! I'd rather spend all that time doing my art. ☺️
@@pat4005 Both have trade offs. The downsides of POD is that profit margins are lower so you have to rely on making more sales and more time in making designs, and finding usable mockups to advertise the product is more difficult since you don't own it. You can use place it but it comes with its limitation, the most effective way is to own the product to get the best angles and to accurately depict what the customer will get through videos such as showcasing, for example, durability and resistance to water and other stuff about your item. By earning more you can rely on less sales and if the demand is too high you can increase the price since the loss of customers will still balance with the increased revenue. But for pod your profit margin is already lower so you can't increase it freely since you already had to raise it to earn a fair amount. If you're making more designs you have to make more mockups, manage seo, and create product descriptions for more items, and market every one of those products through social media, meanwhile adding links to direct them to that individual product. Depending on what platform you use, you may be charged for making new listings. Since you're relying on a third party there are areas where it could fail. There are drawbacks to shipping yourself such as having to manage inventory, and packaging depending on your product you may have to invest in tools to streamline your production. But your profits will overall be greater since you have more control over what you can subtract or add from your costs. It all depends on preference and what you want to allocate your time but there are several pros and cons to each one and ways to leverage the weaknesses.
Hi Kelsey! I noticed a small thing on your website. When scrolling down all the way to the bottom on mobile, if I press "Shop" to navigate there, it sends me to a version of your shop where your prints are not up for sale yet. However, if I use the menu to navigate to your shop, the prints are shown as available for purchase. Just thought I'd let you know :)
That’s where I’m at now, creating lots of new pieces that I can then pick and choose the best / most popular pieces from and add a high quality range to my website and to approach galleries with.
Kelsey, I just want to give you feedback- I really respond to you message- clear, humble, authoritative, poised and in touch with the art culture. I am an older artist and just want to say thank you.
Girl the closing to your video made me just love your personality even more... I wish you all the success your work is beautiful I'm going to do print on demand for my business what do you use for tracking cost for tax season?
Regarding "too many options" - That can be remedied with good organisation formatting, and curation. In my experience of this, the downside is, for example, if you sell prints (postcards/greetings cards etc.) and you manage the inventory yourself (not print on demand), you're going to have a lot of stock to care for. Most print services have "high" minimum orders for products. If you have a lot of designs you want to test-trade with, you're going to be looking at looking after 100s of items. This is a burden if you need to relocate where you store your items (moving house/moving storage/moving studio etc.). Also, the items will suffer from warping at the very least if they are not sold for a while. It's also a bigger hassle when listing them on e-commerce shops.
a part of me feels like if you aren't getting enough feedback you need to feel even confident enough to start the process of bringing a product to life...then maybe you don't have that audience quite yet and maybe should hold off for a bit even if you still have a very small group of people who would buy your product. I'm in a situation where I ordered stickers etc from stickermule and now have product just gathering dust. I'm now just giving them away as freebies because it's that or getting depressed about it. And also a part of me feels like I'm just piggy backing off of artist friends audiences because I hate how Twitch made that a normal thing. My artist friends recommend me and people funnel in and say my style is "cute" but it's been stopping there. With anxiety, I am terrified in marketing myself. I get tongue tied. People have told me if I have anxiety then this isn't for me (making my art into a business) . But I just don't want to work at a 9-5 job the rest of my life and not see anything come out of my passion.
best sellers for me are holiday based so i tend to focus on those, and things related to said holidays. I still draw my own personal art and post it for sale, but dont expect it to really sell lol
You are so inspiring! You sit there like a friend pushing us to do what we want, and I love it. (Side note, I've been doing my own--even my boyfriends--taxes for 5 years. So that part of this process doesn't scare me. It's actually kinda easy.) What scares me is actually creating things. I feel like I'm not good enough. Imposter syndrome, I guess?
I appreciate your straight to the point comments a lot. They are quite helpful, thank you. By the way, does Squarespace provide POD service on art prints?
I've been binge watching your content for the past week and I have to say, I've learned so much from you in just a span of 10 videos. I hope you don't mind me asking, how long did you start building your community online before you decided it's time to start an online art shop?
I'm in the same boat, with thinking fulfilling orders on my own sounds overwhelming and wholly unappealing to me. I thing drop shipping is the way to go for me starting out.
This was so incredibly helpful!! Thank you. I actually love the process of packing and shipping things lol and I've done it on a veryyyyy tiny scale but it totally makes sense to consider what would happen if I had to do a much higher volume. I think I'll probably set up both POD and in-house products. Label printer and P.O. box are two other things I had considered the first time I started trying to sell work, but had forgotten. Such good ideas!!
Thank you so much for this. I am still just starting my small business and I don't have my own website yet. But all these tips are really helpful. So, thanks! Take care, Kelsey.
What tier of squarespace would you recommend for a very new but committed person selling canvas art, prints, stickers and what not? Is the one with the business email worth getting and how easy would it be to upgrade? Thank you so much for doing what you do!😁
It's super easy to upgrade, I recommend getting the lowest one possible if you're on a budget (like with exactly the features you need and nothing extra) because upgrading is super seamless!
These are such great tips! I was always so worried about having to pump out content to sell, and your clothing brand analogy was really enlightening! Thanks for sharing 🪷
I just started posting my stuff in a FB page and my personal Insta (not gonna make an art insta, I saw your video about how that doesn't work). Right not literally throwing everything on the wall to see what sticks.
Hi Kelsey, I am a retired teacher and I am into painting acrylic on canvas. How do I sell my paintings in line? Please direct me on how to sell my works on line. You’re young and admirable for your educating many re online business.
Great video and I like the style of your art too, I will have a look at the rest of your videos to see if there is a marketing video, feeling inspired thanks ☺️
With drop shipping, am I able to add other custom orders inside the prints? Usually like say if I wanted to include business cards etc and have custom packaging. Would I only be able to just ship prints with PoD ?
There are LOTS of small art print shops that offer POD services, probably the best option is the a local shop close to you that offers this service. But I genuinely like theprintspace for UK artists and INPRNT for artists everywhere!
I am a Folk artist and much of my work isnt that big, A3 is the biggest i go, but I have been unable to sell my art because I havent been able to get it in front of anyone. I cant afford to open etsy or shopify or any other of those type of sites, as I am married and have children and grandchildren so my money is tied up most of the time, I am a working class man as are many other artists so jobs and family are important. I dont feel I have to make huge sacrifices to sell art, it should be a holistic adventure not one of struggle and torment, or Stress. I understand marketing is the most important thing apart from the art itself.
i feel like my system isn’t good enough to share just yet but there are also creators that specifically focus on these tools that are far more qualified than I am 😅
Don’t wanna be an artist like this. I’m thinking one of a kind pieces. Only one piece is the original. Value only goes up. Good to see your entrepreneur side. Keep it up.
Kelsey, is it possible to start off as a Print on Demand service, make some cash and then bring it in house? I’ve got an AMAZING piece of artwork, I think the scope is massive, but I just don’t know where/how to start? 🥴 I’m not internet or tech savvy, and I know there are some great tools and templates online but I even find those hard to understand. Any help/advice would be hugely appreciated.
Omg yours is 100% the art style I want to have all around my apartment! I better get my own art business going so I can Afford to buy some of your pieces ❤❤
Hi Kelsey! I just purchased 2 of your templates for Notion & have downloaded the app, but I'm clueless as to how to actually open the templates in Notion. I'm also characteristically bad with technology despite being in my 20s so it's totally possible that this is a dumb question 😂
I do enjoy your channel, Sadly for me, print on demand will not work for me in most cases. I do glow in the dark, glass painting, resin art and getting into making jeweler box (they also glow in the dark) and many other functional art. So believing a company will get that right... I can see them getting neon prints just fine with a black back ground. But not majority of what I do. I'm still sitting on the sidelines with my art. Not sure why, I do not know how I would list them. And they do glow in the dark extremely well, no ego, they just do. I should do weather test. I will get around to that. I live in Alaska as well. So sales market, etc. I Can't just stay in one kind of art, it equals walls and closed in spaces for me. When I have tired for any length of time to, sticking to one kind of art, I start to panic, and all sorts of things happen. Long story short I cant do just one kind. So what platform should sales platform so someone like me use?
Hello Kelsey thank u for these usful videos may i ask you which Pod you use for the prints and ,you are using squarespace for hosting your website right?
Hi! Thanks for such a great video. In relation to this question; I’m super interested in selling my art - is there a reason you use both INPRNT and theprintspace? I just genuinely want to make sure my prints are good quality but there are so many POD options!
Hey, uhh, I'm a young artist trying to earh some extra money, I sell anime drawings for 3-5 dollars, I dunno if I make it too expensive or not, in my country, it's Rp20.000, can you please give me some advice??
She said there were companies she’d list for those who wanted to check out the “in-printing” option, but I didn’t hear the list in the video and I can’t find it in the description. Is it somewhere I’m not looking?
Love your content! I find it valuable as I start to grow my online presence. I am a sculptor, so I feel like I cannot benefit from I’m on demand printing unfortunately. Could 3d be a topic for a future video? ❤
Hi Kelsey,,this my first time and I’m in need for your help. I been try to find how to get my paintings on line ? Did I hear you could make a website.Could you help me get started is there a way you can do the web😢and get me site and help get me going. I m 80 years old and have a yen to paint. I have a bunch .Help me get started. I been wishing for some guidance. Thank bounces.
This is unrelated to this video but there is an artist that i think has a pretty similar style to some of the paintings you have been creating recently. His name is John Corby and he is an australian artist.
heads up morons: RB quote: We do not accept requests to manually review accounts to be reconsidered for indexing, nor do we have additional information we can provide related to search. On the other hand, you need to keep in mind that the on-site search now only relies on the first 15 artist tags per work.
I want to sell my art online, but I am completely overwhelmed about exactly step-by-step how to proceed. I would love to join an online business program that mentors fledgling artists and walks with me through selling my art consistently to generate a regular income. I am willing to pay said mentor/organization a monthly Patreon fee for this service. Anyone have any leads?

I hope you don't mind me asking, how long did you start building your community online before you decided it's time to start an online art shop?
Thank you for the help, your shops is gorgeous :)
Thanks for the great tips, and best of luck with your updated shop!
Thank you so much for this valuable information!
These are such great tips! I was always so worried about having to pump out content to sell, and your clothing brand analogy was really enlightening! Thanks for sharing 🪷
You paintings are so lovely!
Thanks for the video. It was informative. Your website looks really neat too 👍🏽.
You mention a list of PODs that you'd recommend, however, I don't think that they showed up on screen.
Yeah i was looking for that too.
But you can easily find this out yourself. Just google "print on demand" 🫡🤓
I recommend The PrInt Space and Giclee Today!
@@KelseyRodriguez Thank you!!
Excellent video. But I don't see any info about print on demand sites you promised. 🙂
Great video and I like the style of your art too, I will have a look at the rest of your videos to see if there is a marketing video, feeling inspired thanks ☺️
Thank you for this video. I am starting my online shop and this helped me a lot🥰
All great and good tips! Thanks for sharing them with us! It really helps me build my business.
Thank you so much for this its very helpful!! Also! you look like bella ramsey a bit, you are absolutely gorgeous and so is your art
With drop shipping, am I able to add other custom orders inside the prints? Usually like say if I wanted to include business cards etc and have custom packaging. Would I only be able to just ship prints with PoD ?
Hi! Thanks for this video! Which POD companies you recommend for (hopefully) consistent quality?
Girlllll your videos are SO helpful!! 🥲
Can you make a whole video about systems or tools, accounting software, sales tax plug-ins, etc.? ❤
i feel like my system isn’t good enough to share just yet but there are also creators that specifically focus on these tools that are far more qualified than I am 😅
very helpful video✨Congrats on your new store🎉
Fantastic video! Thank you! ❤
Don’t wanna be an artist like this. I’m thinking one of a kind pieces. Only one piece is the original. Value only goes up. Good to see your entrepreneur side. Keep it up.
Honestly, that's a great idea! Leaning into the exclusivity of original works of art is a good strategy.
Yay, Kelsey!
Any help/advice would be hugely appreciated.
sure! no reason why you couldn’t eventually order your own inventory and ship things out yourself.
Omg yours is 100% the art style I want to have all around my apartment! I better get my own art business going so I can Afford to buy some of your pieces ❤❤
Thank you for all the advice you are providing!
Hi Kelsey! I just purchased 2 of your templates for Notion & have downloaded the app, but I'm clueless as to how to actually open the templates in Notion. I'm also characteristically bad with technology despite being in my 20s so it's totally possible that this is a dumb question 😂
You need to sign up to Notion and then there should be a “copy/duplicate to your workspace” button for you to click when you view the template :)
@@KelseyRodriguez okay great thank you!!
I do enjoy your channel,
Sadly for me, print on demand will not work for me in most cases.
Oh, I forgot to mention, I know they will all sale. You mentioned Pre orders. can you give another video on that?
I love your channel so much! ❤
Would you make a video on how you copyright your art/prevent it from being stolen online? :)
Where is that thing you said for tax stuff? I'm from Philippines so it could be different
Hello Kelsey thank u for these usful videos may i ask you which Pod you use for the prints and ,you are using squarespace for hosting your website right?
I do my prints through theprintspace and INPRNT! and yeah, my website is through Squarespace :)
Hi! Thanks for such a great video. In relation to this question; I’m super interested in selling my art - is there a reason you use both INPRNT and theprintspace? I just genuinely want to make sure my prints are good quality but there are so many POD options!
Kelsey have you done a video on etsy yet?
Hey, uhh, I'm a young artist trying to earh some extra money, I sell anime drawings for 3-5 dollars, I dunno if I make it too expensive or not, in my country, it's Rp20.000, can you please give me some advice??
And btw, I live ur vids!
Was thinking about your next upload and BAM! here we are =) YaYYY!
Omgsh congrats!! 🎉
Great video!
Thank you!
Brilliant advice 💛
maam did you use canvas board?
This is super helpful!
Hi Kelsey, you make great videos! Keep it up!
You have such beautiful prints!
thank you Maria!
She said there were companies she’d list for those who wanted to check out the “in-printing” option, but I didn’t hear the list in the video and I can’t find it in the description. Is it somewhere I’m not looking?
it’s in the pinned comment 🥰
💮💮 Don't ask me what but I like this song a lot. 💮💮
I love you ❤ Thank you ❤
Love your content! I find it valuable as I start to grow my online presence. I am a sculptor, so I feel like I cannot benefit from I’m on demand printing unfortunately. Could 3d be a topic for a future video? ❤
Love your content! Helps me sooo much with my art and my youtube channel !
Would you say square space is better than Etsy?
I think they're very different platforms, so it's hard to do a direct comparison!
I was unable to continue your video, couse like i was falling love with you,you are really so cute and lovely 😊
Hi Kelsey, I'm an artist, i need your help, how to i crate my account on squarespace for selling art ?
there are lots of tutorials on TH-cam! I'd recommend checking those out
Hi Kelsey. I did not see sizes in the print descriptions. Did I miss something? Blessings
Should all be fixed now! Thank you for letting me know!
great video!
I am a total beginner. Debating whether I want to sell some of my artwork
Thankyou Hun
Having a small amount of prints might make them look exclusive.
His name is John Corby and he is an australian artist.
ooh thank you for the rec! great stuff
Thanks
heads up morons: RB quote: We do not accept requests to manually review accounts to be reconsidered for indexing, nor do we have additional information we can provide related to search.
On the other hand, you need to keep in mind that the on-site search now only relies on the first 15 artist tags per work.
thank you
I want to sell my art online, but I am completely overwhelmed about exactly step-by-step how to proceed. I would love to join an online business program that mentors fledgling artists and walks with me through selling my art consistently to generate a regular income. I am willing to pay said mentor/organization a monthly Patreon fee for this service. Anyone have any leads?
