I suspect you were actually very lucky the e-z-out broke off in the fitting. That made the hollow fitting more solid so it didn’t just crush when clamping down the vise-grip. Great fix 👍👍😎👍👍

Your machine shouldn't allow you to move the head up after it is homed. I have a TC22 and it doesn't do that. I suspect you have a parameter misconfigured like the home switch position.
