Hey it was several years ago I ran into this problem. Would like to briefly relay my story if it helps anyone. I almost died from this issue and was reluctant to seek medical but glad I did. It's hard to say if I have the genetic resistance or just bad habits with nutrition but I have made big improvement overall. Btw I'm a white male of German heritage, and in my 40's. No drugs or smoking btw. When it got bad I was under alot of stress and had the blood anemia problem. Very low blood oxygen, weak as hell cause of that and started to show jaundice appearance. the cure was blood transfusion to clean up my blood, then a week of better diet rich in protein. As well as many doses of B12 injections spread out over a couple months. in basic terms the b12 and the protein need to work together to get the best results for your body. If you only have one or the other you will not get any results and that created bad malnourished stuff on my end. Was rough, and I still struggle at times, I have to force myself to eat even if I'm not hungry...
Hey Dr. Berg! I am a bit confused as to how long it takes the body to go into autophagy from fasting. When researching studies online they usually say it takes 1-3 days for the body to enter autophagy. I know this has a lot do with how fast one’s metabolism is, but is there any evidence that 18 hours is enough to enter autophagy? Intuitively it sounds right, I’m just wondering why this hasn’t been studied on humans more considering autophagy and fasting are the number one most powerful healing tools. When I fast for 2 days I feel like super woman and I have so much energy, focus and my spiritual connection is super heightened. 18 hour fasts are great as well and I’m trying to do intermittent fasting daily now. I love your videos, I’m trying to watch all of them because you make everything so simple and easy to understand. 😊👌 Much love!
i dont know anything about this, but i would say this idea is in general wrong. usually body processes dont run in 0 or 100% state. autophagy probably happens all the time , its just increasing more and more the longer you fast. its like with fat and sugar metabolism... the body is processing fat and sugar all the time , the question is in which ratio.
Autophagy start times can vary a lot, if you are new to fasting it can take 24 or more hours. I have done a lot of 36 hour fasts so I am generally into autophagy in about 12 hours. The 36 hour fast has become my fav and only fast I like. You only miss all meals on one day, then fast during 2 sleep cycles. Say from 6pm to 6am the third day, very effective and not hard at all after the first few times.
I used to take high-dose Cynanocobalamin but it always made me feel tired soon after taking it. I changed onto a mix of 2:1 ratio Methylcobalamin and Adenosylcobalamin and it's a huge change. Full of energy all week but not wired, and that's taking only one per week (40,000% RDA).
I was taking a stomach liner to prevent problems from taking Naproxine years ago as well as other meds for FMS , only to find out in a chance conversation recently that the liner ...100mgs Lansoprazole ... should only be taken for ONE year maximum because it can affect Vit B12 level . I was taking Lansoprazole for TWENTY ONE years !! Rec3ntly did a retired nurse friend told me about it . They were shocked that the varous GPs in different places I've lived in over the years had never picked up on it , even though my Vit B 12 levels are always on the low side and I take 800mg capsules . So I asked my current GP to wean me off the Lansoprazole and am almost free of it , just another few alternate days. Then it will be interesting to see if my Vit B 12 level increases . 🤔

I have MTHFR, 2 copies of homozygous C677T mutation. If I take methyl forms of b12 or b9 I get extremely sick because my body just cannot methylate or detox well - so it's kinda like suddenly unblocking a terribly blocked drain and it all gushing out too fast for the body to cope. I have found with my double copy, pretty much the worst mthfr mutation combo, I do way better to avoid any b9 supplements and make sure I eat a lot of b9 rich organic foods and supplement the b12 in the hydroxy form. B12 helps the body use b9 so it works for me 😊
Or just take Methylated Folate which is digested by your small intestine and does not build up in your blood like Folic Acid (which then interferes with B12).

INCORRECT. B12 can be found in plant sources as well in contrary to your assertion. Some of these plant sources include. #1: Nutritional Yeast. ... #2: Seaweeds and Sea Vegetables. ... #3: Mushrooms. ... #4: Tempeh. ... #5: Fermented Teas and Kombucha. ... #6: Kimchi (and Other Fermented Vegetables) ... #7: Barley Grass. ...
@@Userxyz-z2d He literally said in this video. And I quote... " There is no b12 in plants ; It's either in animal products or bacteria. " This assertion is absolutely incorrect as I've listed plant sources of b12 in my aforementioned comment above.
The B-12 in nutritional yeast is synthetic- the kind you absolutely don’t want if you have a MTHFR genetic mutation. If you buy the organic kind that’s not been fortified, it doesn’t contain B-12.
He said that foods with bacteria also provide b12 and each of the foods you mention have bacteria as within their fiber. Also, he explains this further in some of his videos for vegans.
I do like your videos Dr Berg thank you. Do you have any advice on pernicious anaemia? I also am requiring iron infusion. Which injection type hydrox or methylcobalamin? Should i take co-factors? The info out there is so inconsistent. ThANK YOU
The information that B12 only source is animal is quite gory. B12 is synthesized in final digestive process. So if you are getting it from animal, you know what is mix in your meat. Actually final digestive process output of humans also has good amount of B12.
I was diagnosed with anemia although i didn't have it before. I felt depresed, exhausted, numbness shaking light headed and very weak but after taking b12 I feel a lot better i think this is the root of cause. Vegan food have no b12 at all.
I started taking half the dose of Ancient Nutrition B complex (1 pill a day) and I'm nauseous every time I take this. I also have then been getting a headache every night I've taken it. Is this a sign that I don't need the vitamin B complex supplement?
Yes I have noticed also that many supplements jack up the amount of B12 as Berg says. They have insanely high percentages, for also B6 and vitamin C sometimes but especially B12. I can see how this would be too much and I feel like I have even felt bad and negative on vitamins and supplements with too much B12 or zinc!!
We can find B12 in the leafy greens but just picked up from the ground and no washed so the bacteries with B12 is still on them. But for that you have to make your own garden or to pick up wild plants and no wash them
There is not enough b12 in dirt for a human, and there never has been, that's why humans don't crave dirt and we wash dirt off of food. B12 is from animals. If dirt has b12, then it's not really dirt, it's animal droppings or remains.
Don't fermented foods also contain high levels of B12? I know that barsht (eastern-european main ingredient for sour soup which is obtained by fermenting a mix of grains) is abundant in B12.
I had shortness of breath as my first and only side effect. I was at 25% according to blood tests. Being vegetarian was the cause. So I could guess B12 and got tested
@@tommyboy1986 it was a proper B12 blood test ordered by the doctor after I asked for it. I don't know what the B12 markers they tested for. But I was at 25% . They added other standard blood test results. The rest was normal
Dr Berg! Huge fan since 2014! Love you and your products. Would love to see you come out with a methylation support vitamin for adults and kids ! Specific for those with the MTHFR gene . Dr Amy Myers has one but the dosages are different than what you had recommended in a prior video so would love your thoughts !
Anyone have success with a certain supplement brand ?? I tried Thorne methylated B complex and stomach/esophagus hurt. Like eating a jalapeño discomfort
Thank you Dr Berg!! 🙏❤🙏❤🙏 I have every symptom you mentioned. And now I know why! I cut back on the amount of red meat I was eating a few years ago, due to me being unemployed and the cost of meat becoming so expensive. I used to eat red meat around 2-3 times a week, now I'm lucky to have it 2-3 times a month!! I will now be buying and eating it a bit more often, as much as my budget can stretch for it. Will that repair the damage I've done though? 🤔🤔😟😟
B12 is the cheapest supplement. I've seen Dr comments that it is good to take small dose daily. We only eat fish I catch as the only animal protein few times a week. Went complete vegetarian over the summer with the big garden production. Lots of beans. Daily vitamin has some B12. Wife just had her Iron and B12 checked and they were both right in the middle of the range. B12 was better than a few years ago with animal protein every meal.
My NP thinks my B12 numbers were high. I'm Lymie so I read we need more. I'm taking 5000 a day but probably not the good stuff What should my numbers be?
What about for cancer patients? I am just reading that both VItC and B12 and other antioxidants are now being said to be very bad for people who already have cancer. Please do a video about this. They are saying VitC may spawn tumor angiogenisis. They are saying supplmentation in general increases risk of cancer by 20-30%. We should only take these if we are deficient.
First off, buy some Fabendazole & Nattokinase ASAP. This has been proven to eat away most cancer cells & heal people. Whatever you do, STOP taking any chemo whatsoever. The whole Cancer industry is RIGGED to make people sicker. As for vitamins, stick to non-synthetic as much as you can (especially organic meat, cheese, eggs, salads) Hope this helps :)
I told my doctor I may have a b12 deficiency. He seemed so mad he ask me if I hear voices in my head, I said "what are you trying to say, of course not" then he gave me a prescription for Risnia Risperidone. I think he's using his position as a weapon because I mentioned b12.

#7: Barley Grass. ...
He has said in other vids that there are plant sources of B12 but they are very inferior to those found in meats. I forget which meat has gluten.... !
@@Userxyz-z2d
He literally said in this video.
And I quote...
" There is no b12 in plants ; It's either in animal products or bacteria. "
This assertion is absolutely incorrect as I've listed plant sources of b12 in my aforementioned comment above.
@@heruking4391 true. Thats what he said in this vid.
Good 👍 information sir 🎉
Glad you found it helpful!
Thank You Dr Berg! ❤🌍🌠
I do like your videos Dr Berg thank you. Do you have any advice on pernicious anaemia? I also am requiring iron infusion. Which injection type hydrox or methylcobalamin? Should i take co-factors? The info out there is so inconsistent. ThANK YOU
Liver. Start with chicken and graduate to beef!
Don't ask: what if I fail Ask: what if I succeed
Great information! Thank You!
All the best!
Thank You Doctor Eric Berg
You're welcome!
Really good info thank you😊
Very welcome, Carol! Thanks for watching!
Hello. Sorry to hear about your problem. Sharing my videos on anemia: www.youtube.com/@DrEricBergDC/search?query=anemia
This is very informative
Thanks! I appreciate it.
I started taking half the dose of Ancient Nutrition B complex (1 pill a day) and I'm nauseous every time I take this. I also have then been getting a headache every night I've taken it. Is this a sign that I don't need the vitamin B complex supplement?

Glad this video was informative!
Cheers much again...Off topic could you please do an Allulose video?
If you type words like allulose in the search 🔎 area of this channel, you will find videos Dr Berg made to answer this.
I’ve been taking 1/2 tsp. of Celtic salt (look for Dr. David Brownstein interviews) for two months and, wow, am I detoxing!!
What about Hydroxycobalamine? Is it good?
Dr berg what does it mean when my B12 stays above 1207pg/mL for the last couple of years hasn’t changed or lowered
Some of the other Dr Berg’s videos /articles on b12 may help.
DR Berg why isn't there a B12 supplement on your supplements website?
So we've been taking the cyanocobalamin...for many years...is it that bad? Should I stop it? Thanks for helping
Yes, I recommend you take methylcobalamin.
Mayo clinic says metformen can affect B12 abortion
I tried some of my dads B12 vitamins and got a headache
How much i should take it? How many mg in a day
Can you reverse?
Yes I have noticed also that many supplements jack up the amount of B12 as Berg says. They have insanely high percentages, for also B6 and vitamin C sometimes but especially B12. I can see how this would be too much and I feel like I have even felt bad and negative on vitamins and supplements with too much B12 or zinc!!
I'm all good now; but years ago when I was a drinker thinks would slip out of my hands... then later I started having foot pain.
Coffee & tea can cause it as well.
Ahh, someone was watching Joe Rogan with Gary Brecka.
Is bee pollen a good source of b vits with b12? Thank you
We can find B12 in the leafy greens but just picked up from the ground and no washed so the bacteries with B12 is still on them. But for that you have to make your own garden or to pick up wild plants and no wash them
Untrue. You have to either eat meat or supplement. Body stores b12 so it might take a whole before you feel the effects of a deficiency.
There is not enough b12 in dirt for a human, and there never has been, that's why humans don't crave dirt and we wash dirt off of food. B12 is from animals. If dirt has b12, then it's not really dirt, it's animal droppings or remains.
Do vegans eat bacteria?🤔
I am taking unfortified nutritional yeast which supposed to have B12 yet am still deficient
Then how a vegan can fight with a situation or deficiency please suggest
Don't fermented foods also contain high levels of B12? I know that barsht (eastern-european main ingredient for sour soup which is obtained by fermenting a mix of grains) is abundant in B12.
BORSCHT
Yes, he’s made videos on this.
You may want to call him about this. On his Friday show.
Where can i buy the Methylcobalamin? Has anyone found it? $25 per injection?
I just did a search for . . . can you get methylcobalamin in pill form . . . lots of bottles popped up.
@kathym6603 yes..I'm sorry... I wanted it in injectables...
I had shortness of breath as my first and only side effect. I was at 25% according to blood tests. Being vegetarian was the cause. So I could guess B12 and got tested
25% reading from the finger pulse oximeter? or you had some kind of other blood test?
@@tommyboy1986 it was a proper B12 blood test ordered by the doctor after I asked for it. I don't know what the B12 markers they tested for. But I was at 25% . They added other standard blood test results. The rest was normal
My blood tests revealed I have low blood count. Would Methycolbalin help?
Dr Berg! Huge fan since 2014! Love you and your products. Would love to see you come out with a methylation support vitamin for adults and kids ! Specific for those with the MTHFR gene . Dr Amy Myers has one but the dosages are different than what you had recommended in a prior video so would love your thoughts !
I thought methylcobalamin was also synthetic isnt it made in a lab too? Wouldnt natural b12 mean its extracted from food be a much more expensiv
My b12 is in 300s my doc said it's normal but with reresearch I saw its on the low side
Anyone have success with a certain supplement brand ?? I tried Thorne methylated B complex and stomach/esophagus hurt. Like eating a jalapeño discomfort
It’s so hard to navigate the world of supplements when it comes to pure legitimate supplements
How much should be the dosage ?
Thank you Dr Berg!! 🙏❤🙏❤🙏 I have every symptom you mentioned. And now I know why!
I cut back on the amount of red meat I was eating a few years ago, due to me being unemployed and the cost of meat becoming so expensive. I used to eat red meat around 2-3 times a week, now I'm lucky to have it 2-3 times a month!! I will now be buying and eating it a bit more often, as much as my budget can stretch for it.
Will that repair the damage I've done though? 🤔🤔😟😟
You may want to avoid supermarkets. To locate a few caring farmers/ gardeners to get nutrients rich foods from instead. It’s often much cheaper.
Get solgar sub lingual b12 methocobalomin, melt in the mouth. If u get meat, get grass fed. Better once a month good quality
What lab tests do you need to get an overall snapshot of your bio chemistry and what you need much like a farmer doing a soil sample?
He’s made videos what tests to do. But I think his videos on symptoms of deficiencies and on toxicity help more.
My NP thinks my B12 numbers were high.
I'm Lymie so I read we need more.
I'm taking 5000 a day but probably not the good stuff
What should my numbers be?
He may have answered this in some videos on Lyme?
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Doctor Berg you are wonderful now I know with I don’t do good with B12 it only hurts ales only tablet for me to get sick thank u 🎉
Looking good dr. May bless you
Thanks Dr
You're welcome.
I told my doctor I may have a b12 deficiency. He seemed so mad he ask me if I hear voices in my head, I said "what are you trying to say, of course not" then he gave me a prescription for Risnia Risperidone. I think he's using his position as a weapon because I mentioned b12.
Very bas doctor.
My night time hand cramp stopped on taking this B12!
That's wonderful. Glad B12 helped you. Take care.
Dr. Berg, can myelin regrow if you have Charcot Marie Tooth?
If you type words like this in the search 🔎 area of this channel, you will find videos Dr Berg made to help with these situations.
I can barely walk with so much foot pain if I don’t take B12 shots
