Sharing Dr Berg notes on this important episode!
Methylcobalamin is vitamin B12, and it’s essential for DNA, red blood cells, and your myelin sheath. Vitamin B12 also helps support your spinal column and brain.
If you’re deficient in vitamin B12, you could experience tingling, numbness, or burning sensations.
Other signs of vitamin B12 deficiency can include:
    • Chronic pain
    • Depression
    • Muscle wasting
    • Blurry vision
    • Tinnitus
    • Anemia
    • Mouth ulcers
    • Sore throat
    • Hair loss
You could also experience symptoms if you have too much vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 toxicity will typically occur if you’re taking too much synthetic vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin)-not the natural version (methylcobalamin).
Cyanocobalamin can build up in the body and cause symptoms such as:
    • Acne
    • Palpitations
    • Anxiety
    • Red cheeks
    • Headaches
    • Insomnia
    • Akathisia
    • Suicidal thoughts
You could be deficient in vitamin B12 long before you start to feel any effects. But that doesn’t mean that there isn’t damage being done. One of the first symptoms you would eventually feel is extreme fatigue.
Foods high in vitamin B12 are animal products. There is no vitamin B12 in plants.
Top causes of vitamin B12 deficiency:
    • Malabsorption
    • Plant-based or vegan diets
    • Gastric bypass
    • Atrophy of the stomach
    • Gastritis
    • H. pylori infection
    • Ulcers
    • Inflammation in the intestines
    • Aspirin
    • Alcohol
    • Junk foods
    • Antibiotics
    • Antacids or PPIs
    • Birth control pills
    • Pregnancy
    • Lactation
    • Smoking
    • Polymorphism
    Thank you Dr Berg! 🐱👍🏿

Dr Berg please - we HIGHLY need a comprehensive video in which you cover MTHFR mutations and your advice how to fix the methylate cycle if you have it. This is such a common mutation affecting over 50% of population, that doesn't even know. I have it too, like many others, would be SO great if you could please make a video on this and on how to fix it, and which vitamins/supplements to take and which to avoid. You never covered this I think as standalone topic, but would be so helpful. Thanks!

Move to R.umble aka voting with your feet. They're so scared that I had to put a period in the word R.umble cos it keeps deleting the comment cos they don't want people telling other people to move to R.umble.

I was shopping for liquid vitamin B12 online when I realized that there were two types available: cyanocobalamin and methylcobalamin. The former had about 21,380 ratings as opposed to the latter with 10,800 ratings. I had my mind made up to buy the most popular one of course, but decided to watch one of Dr. Berg's video on vitamins B12. Wouldn't you know it, my original choice was NOT the right one! Who would have thought?

    Why don't you explain hydroxocobalamin?
It divides into methylcobalmin and adenosylcobalamin . Adenosoylcobalmin is also essential to the brain and body
Would you explain this ? Only the US uses cyanocobalamin for b12 deficiency- Britain uses hydroxocobalamin for b12 deficiency

Hi Dr. Berg, how many micrograms of Methylcobalamin we should take? I practically watched all your videos about B12 and on one of them you said 2.4mcg per day. I bought a chewable supplement and it has 10,000mcg. How much mcg is safe to take? Pls help. I would rather follow your recommendation than Google 😁

Hey Dr. Berg! I am a bit confused as to how long it takes the body to go into autophagy from fasting. When researching studies online they usually say it takes 1-3 days for the body to enter autophagy. I know this has a lot do with how fast one’s metabolism is, but is there any evidence that 18 hours is enough to enter autophagy? Intuitively it sounds right, I’m just wondering why this hasn’t been studied on humans more considering autophagy and fasting are the number one most powerful healing tools. When I fast for 2 days I feel like super woman and I have so much energy, focus and my spiritual connection is super heightened. 18 hour fasts are great as well and I’m trying to do intermittent fasting daily now.
I love your videos, I’m trying to watch all of them because you make everything so simple and easy to understand. 😊👌
    Much love!

    • @janienaomi7510

i dont know anything about this, but i would say this idea is in general wrong. usually body processes dont run in 0 or 100% state. autophagy probably happens all the time , its just increasing more and more the longer you fast.
its like with fat and sugar metabolism... the body is processing fat and sugar all the time , the question is in which ratio.

Autophagy start times can vary a lot, if you are new to fasting it can take 24 or more hours. I have done a lot of 36 hour fasts so I am generally into autophagy in about 12 hours. The 36 hour fast has become my fav and only fast I like. You only miss all meals on one day, then fast during 2 sleep cycles. Say from 6pm to 6am the third day, very effective and not hard at all after the first few times.

I unfortunately went for years undiagnosed with severe b12 deficiency. I’ve been on b12 now for 8 months and although some symptoms are better, I’m afraid I may have permanent nerve damage 😳 I am in stage 3 of the symptoms. There are 4 stages. I’m taking the right kind of b12 so I’m still hoping the nerves get better 🙏

I was taking a stomach liner to prevent problems from taking Naproxine years ago as well as other meds for FMS , only to find out in a chance conversation recently that the liner ...100mgs Lansoprazole ... should only be taken for ONE year maximum because it can affect Vit B12 level . I was taking Lansoprazole for TWENTY ONE years !! Rec3ntly did a retired nurse friend told me about it . They were shocked that the varous GPs in different places I've lived in over the years had never picked up on it , even though my Vit B 12 levels are always on the low side and I take 800mg capsules . So I asked my current GP to wean me off the Lansoprazole and am almost free of it , just another few alternate days. Then it will be interesting to see if my Vit B 12 level increases . 🤔
