My summit is hands down my favorite synth I've ever had. I will never sell it. If something happened to it, I'd get another one.
I recently got a hydrasynth explorer, and while I like it a lot, it doesn't come anywhere remotely close to sounding as good. Yes, it's technically "more powerful" but, the peak and summit just straight up sounds fucking good at all times. Hell, even a basic saw way filter sweep with just a taste of the on-board effects sounds incredible.
Also, you're correct, the effects are better than any other synth I've ever heard. I would buy an effects unit with just those effects as a pedal if it was available.

Hydrasynth turned me off because of all the menu diving. Peak feels a lot more hands-on analog. I already have Pigment and other capable soft synths for digital. Its a lot easier for me because of the big-screen editing.

Thanks for the Peak videos. I'm a fellow owner and far from a synthesiser expert so any first hand info I can get from other users is super-useful. YOU are the person I’ve been waiting for…at least 1 if not 2 years now!
During that time, realizing that SUMMIT (or PEAK, nearly) is the most gorgeous synth I’ve ever heard (and I’ve owned em all-no, I don’t mean CS 80 and Schmidt ALL, but a shameful, decadent collection.
I decided that it would be Crazy to buy a PEAK instead of a preowned Summit.
I’m not a live performer-sometimes I pretend. So recording in home studio.
I believes there IS MORE than simply 2 PEAKS to SUMMIT.
      You’ve lived with Summit now.
Does the Synergistic Aspect of Summit, those features, amount to important functionality differences in your mind ? Like, you wouldn’t never trade Summit for 2 PEAKS and all the free cabling you need to polychain them, were the dollars EVEN and the 2 peaks were brand new?
Have you had moments when you doubted whether or not you gained that much ?
I guess l, bottom line, part of me thinks I should just buy a PEAK and not be a pig…
      Thanks!

@@watchaddicts1213 Buy the Summit! even on paper the Summit is more than two Peaks (extra split filter modes, and the dedicated FM knobs alone save you up to 9 mod slots compared to on the Peak, audio input, keyboard, one touch split/dual/layer multi switching), the split and layer implementation is great, two instances of the same great FX - though you do lose the ability to run the FX purely 100% wet (seemingly due to hardware design oversight)

Me too. 1600 from focusrite when they were quite new still. Worth the read of my message BTW... Read on...
The first summit cutoff knob was faulty and had a clear dead spot. Focusrite went thru it all with me and offered a swap replacement... For a new one!
However. I had a mad moment. I decided at the time I had too much crap so they agreed instead to let me have a peak. I thought "I'll be OK with that I'm sure I've got x and y other synths ". But in the end I never used it much and started to let GAS make me think about alternatives...
One day though... I realised how great the summit was. How I was proud of it's awesome looks too... And I saw one for 1100 gbp.
I decided I'd buy it and maybe sell peak to cover the gap.
Just as I was about to go and see it.. He sold it to a mate of his. I was so annoyed. I mean I got why you'd do it if a good mate wanted it etc and he did text me to apologise hugely.
I made him feel as good as I could.
Stuck then I thought... Ah flip I'll ask focusrite if they've another refurb.
Got chatting. Bearing in mind I'd had the peak a good year by now.
Sod it. "Guys I don't suppose seeing as what's just happened that you're feeling sorry for me pretty please..."
Few days later. Door swap delivery. BRAND NEW SUMMIT. Peak back to focusrite
      Focusrite are legends. Absolute legends.

I have Strymon NightSky effects as well as I am an expert now with the Zoom MS70-CDR pedal in creating chains that sound almost as good as the NightSky. I bought the Minilogue just for inputting to my high quality sampler, which I then layer up and re-sample until I have what I want and then play the sampler from a keyboard. But yesterday thought I would try making a Minilogue sound all on its own, did not like what I was hearing. (been sound designing for 35 years on 100s of synths over the years)

Overlooked and underrated synth to be sure. One can be had in good condition for under $1k while a Summit is $1700 which makes for a tough choice IMHO. The onboard reverb has no equal among synths; this thing really needs no external effects. Though the Summit filters are fairly good it is my hope to see Novation introduce basically a Summit "2" with the Sequential SEM and 2140 filters along with their vintage algorithm along with Poly AT.
