I never see it discussed but killing Selene as a Thieves Guild member will get you kicked out the Guild for murdering another member of the Guild. I've never seen ANYONE mention it before.
I always like to do this quest sort-of early on in my playthroughs, especially when I'm specializing in the Blade skill; it's a great way to get a fairly powerful sword without a fight. I mean, yeah, you need to fight the other Blackwater guys, but after some fast-talking, Selene just walks away. This quest is also a pretty good example of marketing gone wrong; the Blackwater Brigands were there looking for an insanely valuable artifact that _didn't even exist._ And even if a bunch of wannabe gangsters hadn't shown up to the Bloated Float, I think Ormil's story would've fallen apart sooner or later. I mean, there's only so many places on a single ship where you could hide an artifact like that. And if it's made out of _solid gold,_ you'd think it'd stick out like a sore thumb. I do like how Ormil basically calls himself out on how poorly thought-out his strategy was, though :P P.S: The line saying, "I'm just the ship's cook" is a refence to the movie "Under Siege", in which the protagonist is a cook on-board a ship, which gets raided by a gang of mercenaries. The bad news is, it's a _Steven Seagal_ movie. The good news is, it's probably the only Steven Seagal movie that's halfway-decent.
@@nipsynuggets4930 it does, i just don't see what it has to do with a comment on an elder scrolls video homie. just being something isn't explicitly inclusive doesn't mean its exclusive.
What a great idea bard, i indeed loved this video as always, i dearly agree that this is on of the greatest quest oblivion has to offer. Loved your first video covering this.
I remember, waaaaay back in the day, watching the episode of X-Play that Oblivion was first reviewed on. I remember Morgan Webb saying something to the effect of, "Say good bye to your family and loved ones, 'cause you won't be seeing them for a very, very long time." This is one of the "HOLY SHIT, THIS IS A THING?!" quests that made me think she was right.
I always thought it was strange that the room at the end was inaccessible to the player. There's probably nothing in there, but I love to explore everything in a game like Oblivion.
Imagine they would've tried to take the boat right at the time when Hieronymus Lex is searching for the Gray Fox at the bottom of a mug of ale. Because he visits the place.
If you ever get around to re-doing the Fighters Guild in your modern narrative style + NPC dialogues like you did the other guilds it would be so amazing. I listen to all the other guilds regularly because you hit the perfect balance and cadence with these.
It's crazy that they managed to get the Bloated Float actually managed to get so far from Cyrodiil considering the river leading south from the Imperial City eventually gets to a narrow channel with a bridge over it, meaning boats cannot actually leave.
I remember this quest glitched out for me so Selene walked from the boat in prison outfit. When I tried talking to her she repeated the "Ive already surrendered" line. But when she entered the temple district she disappeared.
YESSSSSSSS, i feel the same way about the ship thing, i really wanted to just rest in a ship while its traveling in the ocean. i spent real time hours just staring at the sea back then before moving on to the next action lol
probably one of the more interesting things about this quest is that you cannot actually get onto the open seas technically, as in if you visit down to leyawin there is no open waterway to the to the sea, a dirt path blocks the way lmao
I love this quest, but I always found the dialogue with Lynch very odd. I don't understand why he doesn't believe you're just a passenger, or why your character resorts to telling weird lies then refusing to say more. Then all the other dialogue with the pirates is you lying then all of a sudden telling the truth? It's nice to actually have dialogue options, but these ones are rather bizarre.
Those dialogue options with Lynch are so lame. They could’ve just had an option to explain you were sleeping in the inn and had the bandit attempt to subdue you instead of the unusual dialogue options.
I love this quest. I really hope in Elder Scrolls 6 they get back to the charm of all these Oblivion quests
Ong, although I like a lot of Skyrims side quests they never felt as thought out as oblivions or morrowinds did.
Yeah, I miss Oblivion's coziness in Skyrim.
Sure, it's a different place. But sometimes it's just too much roughness.
Back the fuck at it with another oblivion banger, this man does not miss

This quest is one the best in the game!

Shoving off to sea even though you can’t physically get out of the imperial city harbor because the river doesn’t actually connect to the ocean lol.
Love the homage to Under Siege
love this quest

Surrender? My character is a cold blooded killer lol she wouldn’t have been let go if it was me

You haven’t forgotten about Morrowind have you ... ? I literally pray everyday that you’ve brought a new video out!!
He did a morrowind video 2 days ago

I thought u ran out of video ideas for oblivion.. or were switching to morrowind
