Made this trip at least 10 times with my late wife in our airstream. Sold the stream after she passed in 21, couldn't take it out without my girl. Great video that brings back many wonderful memories, we loved the Oregon coast ,thanks...
@rogee A sweet tribute to your wife 💕
In 1972 I lived there at the age of 17. Went to Del Norte High. I also was a DJ for station KPLY, 1240 AM. Had my own rock and roll show. Worked with DJs "Stormy Night" and " Sunny Day". That was there radio names. Had a blast.
Crescent City is a cool place to visit. The Redwoods are amazing. Everyone be safe out there. 😊
I caught a 32lb Salmon at the Smith River when i was 10yrs old. Made the local paper...(: Thanks for the Memory" Keep on Truckin.
Stayed in the same rv park with the family over 20 years ago. Hasn't changed. Not everyone gets it but some of us like the coastal pea soup fog too. Not all the time though. Seems to be directly connected to how hot it is inland. High pressure above squishes it down low and thick. You can feel it on your skin. It often rolls in early evening, waters the plants and everything gets still and quiet inside of it. Then, after it rolls out late morning, there's blue sky and everything sparkles along with fresh air. Everything has it's purpose I guess. Thanks for the ride. Many memories here. Cheers. 👍
There is an awesome place called Stout Grove near Crescent City. Beautiful trails on the floor of the Redwoods. Absolutely breathtaking.
Yes, a great place to visit. Stout Grove is in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park which, as you mention, is right near Crescent City. Was there back in 2020.
One of the best overall U Tube channels for traveling in your living room!!!!!! Your optics are spectacular and your commentary in easy to listen to and not get irritated………
Thank you for the trips
I'm glad you stopped in our beautiful Lil town. You usually stay in Brookings. There is a lot to see in CC. This must have been last week. Its been so hot this week, we haven't seen the fog since last week. You should have taken the bike out Howland Hill rd. It goes from elk valley out to hiouchi through the most beautiful redwoods you will see.
Crescent City is beautiful. Drove passed there on my way to Obrien Oregon.
The 199 is a great drive. Stop by that country store in Obrien.

Hey Russ. Your channel rocks! Happy Trails!
Hey Russ! Great video!
Those funny looking jack shaped things are called Dolos.
They use them on breakwaters to dissipate the waves.
You might think they just dump them any old kind of way, but there is a certain way they are supposed to be laid down to work the most efficiently at breaking up the waves.
Hi My name is Mike. I too am a TH-cam adventurer. I just wanted to say I love your videos and you inspire me to explore more areas outside of my state on foot and bike. keep up your beautiful videos.
Love it, Russ. The trees are magnificent and huge in Northern California

❤ Thanks Russ❤
😅
More memories of the road trip I took with my parents in the summer of 1975, although we were going south, back to Phoenix. We were in a little 4-door Datsun sedan, and my brother's then girl friend, now ex-wife, worked for Best Western, and she gave us a hotel catalog. My dad went to our local AAA office and got a "triptik" which was a custom printed road map for our trip. We went from Phoenix through Flagstaff to Ouray, Colorado, then onward through Yellowstone and Idaho to visit family who lived near Mt. Rainier. From there to Portland to visit another relative, then down west coast through Crescent City and Eureka along Highway 101; the reverse of Russ' trip. My job was to go through the Best Western catalog and book us places to stay overnight. Now keep in mind my parents had taught me to always look for a good deal, so I did. Then, as we were traveling, my father got a bit concerned at my ability to find "cheap" hotels. Not sure why. They wanted me to find the best bargains, and I did.
I loved traveling with you. Very interesting. Stayed in Crescent City about 15 rears ago. Good changes.
Thanks for the video of Crescent City! Good memories of visits there, I was smiling the whole time I was watching. Love the footage from your e-bike ride!
Hey Russ what a beautiful drive up the coast. The marina was impressive and ❤ the lighthouse. Looking forward to Oregon. I’m really enjoying the journey to Sturgis and beyond. 👍
Hey Russ, happy Sunday. Love the sights and sounds of our "early morning Zen moment" at the start of the episode...reminds me of the nature videos at the end of the CBS Sunday Morning show. Nice to see more e-bike content, it's great to get out on two wheels and get a different perspective. The lighthouse is well worth a visit if you can time it right on a low tide.
The road to Grants Pass takes you to Jed Smith State Park which has some fantastic redwood groves and some really massive trees. This swing through California has been fun, looking forward to riding along with you in the Beaver State. Happy trails!
I live here in Crescent City I think it's the best town in the entire west coast
CC is my hometown. I’ve missed it everyday since we left.
You found our favorite coastal campground from when we lived in Southern Oregon. That bike bath goes the other way and brings you to the boat docks. Our favorite thing was listening to the barking sea lions and the fog horn. So relaxing.
Thanks Russ, enjoying seeing the Pacific Ocean and following your ride on the HWY 101. My dad lived in CA, so I have lots of memories of driving on the HYW 101 and swimming in the Pacific Ocean. My dad even let me drive on the 5 coming back from Vegas one time. Lots and lots of good memories for me too.
I traveled with a friend up the coast on 101/1 from San Diego to Bend Oregon in 2001. Wow, some things changed and some not. The eternity of the ocean and forests. Thank you Russ, for bringing back such great memories.
Thank you so much for sharing Crescent City! We will definitely check out the pier when we're there next weekend. First and last time we were in Crescent City was 6 years ago. Loved what we saw but was only there for a couple days as we were meeting family just over the Oregon state line for a day. If anyone is ever in Crescent City, highly recommend Crescent Beach Motel right on the beach. Loved it the first time, we're staying there this time too :)
Enjoying my Sunday watching this Aloha!👍🏻🤙🏼
Del Norte County Let’s Get it! I was just playing your West Virginia trip at the shop , we’ve been on a binge here 😅

This is my hometown. It was a beautiful place to live. I wish I was still there. Every single day!
Hi Russ, safe travels just keep on trucking I'll keep on watching
Wow Russ that E Bike Cam works great! That was a beautiful drive to the Lighthouse❤️😀🇺🇸can’t wait for Oregon Coast!
My wife and I made a 7 month western trip in 2021 in our 24ft. motor home. We averaged about $14.25 per night with boondocking and a couple camping clubs. Went again in 2023 for 2 months staying in motels, cabins, and air b&bs. Cost quite a bit more than with the RV. Both good trips but I prefer using the RV even though we used a lot more gas. I'm enjoying reliving the trip through your videos. Thanks and enjoy the rest of your trip.
Keep the journey going never let it end .
Thank you again! The addition of the bike camera touring around is nice addition!
After seeing those tsunami defense items, not too sure about boating. My dad’s army buddy used to tell me his patrol boat at 23 years of age in Sweden .. probably same route his dad have during WW2.
Enjoy your day!
Love Norcal! Thanks for sharing your experience. I plan to car camp in my Prius very soon. Wow what an adventure you are on!
That's a brand new welcome Oregon sign it really needed to be replaced!
Lighthouse Cove is one of our favorite RV parks!

Love the e-bike cam!!
This trip is bringing back childhood memories. If you go through Montana and go through Billings go check out two places on top of the bluff above the city. Check out the Yellowstone County Museum. It’s right across the street the airport. An incredible museum. Free to get in. Also go and see the Yellowstone Kelly Interpretive Site which is not to far down the road from the museum. He is known mapping out Yellowstone. Very interesting history. Both places have an incredible view of the city of Billings and surrounding area.
Love C city, wife & I toured the lighthouse a couple years ago. Neat museum there.
We went to Crescent City, Calif. many times when I was a girl as my Great Aunts and Uncle lived there in the 1950s to mid-1970s. I remember their tales of the tsunami though they lived a few miles out of town so their homes were fine. We were there just a few months after and saw the damage. Interestingly a women I knew in Sacramento had known one of my Great Aunts as my Great Aunt was a school teacher of hers there in Crescent City. Small world. We live in AZ but are originally from CA.
👋🤠 Hey Russ! The longer you drive this route the more I want to take it myself ❤ Loving the RVerTV e-bike cam 👍👍
Stayed at clam beach the whole summer of 2001. Was the best summer of my life. I would love to retire in the Pacific north coast. The people there are very friendly, clean air and plenty of outdoor things to do.
Thus brings back childhood memories of going to my Grandpa Johnson home in the redwoods above Crescent city. Every year in summer my dad, mom m, my brother and I would travel up thru San Diego and go up the coast to here. We'd go to sea world, Disney land, Knott's berry farm and camp along the way in a big tent. My gramp and Gram Johnson lived not too far from the Smith river across from a big field of sunflowers. I would love to travel in a RV with a friend across the U.S. and go on this trip again. My uncle Ezra and aunt lived in Crescent City, my aunt had shelves of agates and seashells from beach combimg. We would visit them too and as a kid went on a fishing boat and got sea sick. I don't get sick in lake boats on lake Mead or Powell even when wanes were real high and we would rent. House boat with my current step fam and coming back in port got to go thru high waves that was knuckle wrenching asi in me sitting at the table holding on with white knuckles hoping the house boat would not tip over. Very scary but sad knew boats and how to go across and not overturn. He got s not alive passed years ago. I miss him. He was a good dad. If like to go on a RV trip and have memories of him again
Lighthouses are very pretty, usually surrounded by a house and pretty greenery as well as the ocean.
Hi. Really enjoying the pacific coast series. Love watching! Thanks so much!
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
E bike tour was amazing 🐬 💧
Awesome rv park. Score.🎉
THANKS RUSS...Happy Trails..be safe out there.❤🕊
Thanks for sharing got to go down childhood lane. Because ngs good memories.
I grew up horseback in CC. We spent years riding on south beach. It was an awesome time.
I attended high school in Cresent City. 1961 senior year.
You have not shown the part of the bow of a ship that was torpedoed off the coast of crescent city during ww11.
Wonderful trip! Just lovely!
You can get to Battery Point Lighthouse at low tide. I grew up in CC.
Great video.. haven't been there in a couple years! Love the e-bike cam 👍
I really enjoy watching your TH-cam Channel, Russ! 👍👍👍👍👍 I really like the e bike cam. I bet you have fun riding your e bike. When you're staying at rv parks your e bike is really handy to have with you so that you can ride around. I wish you safe travels, Russ. Talk soon, Alan.
👍
My home town. Thank you.
Welcome to Oregon Russ, hope you have a wonderful time in Oregon,
Another awesome trip!!
The ebike is a great addition!
We’lol be there soon. Heading from Chico to Crescent City and then up to Coos Bay to escape the Valley heat for a few days. We’re enjoying your trip!
This just showed up, strange and I believe devices hear people talk 🤔! I just did this drive and stopped at this exact beach view @1:55 video, took videos and photos, Friday July 5th.! I was in Cresent City over the 4th. to visit long time family friends, haven't seen in 38 years 😮! It was a Long solo drive 7+ hrs. each direction 😏 but enjoyed the weather, visit and amazing ocean sunset! Thanks for sharing, safe journey and travels!
Ok I miss the Fog Horn, seals on the island barking the light Hus. Liveing off Inyo hear the wave saw 8 hrs of sun light in one yr. lol MIKEY IN QZITE,AZ
Lol 😂 I think he's tagging along with you now 🤣
Hello Russ my friend. We ventured thru central Oregon & the Paint Hills monument in May. New territory for us. A part fell off my truck near Condon Or. We stayed 3 days at Burns rv park / fairgrounds & a great museum. We were the only guests except 6 deer that live nearby. I rode my ebike all over the place. Out in the farm land to the east, to a wind farm west of town & circled many of the back streets. People are very friendly & helpful. Almost every rig would wave to us. I'd stop in Condon again if we travel that way. Bill
We went up to the border of Cali and Oregon to the Oregon caves. It is very cool. A got to see place.
When you were riding your e-bike in the Crescent city Harbor and then you stopped to fill that island, that is right about where I sat on one of those posts that line the pavement and watched the fireworks where they launched them off of the pier that you went out on. It looks like from the weather that you were there The last week of June. I was in Klamath Falls probably about the time you shot this on June 25 on my way to OverlandExpo PNW because That’s when I got a little bit of rain. When I was in Crescent city from July 2 to July 5, there was no marine layer. It was great to see you on this journey down the coast, as I am picking up on things that I need to go back and explore more on thanks to your video. Thanks, Russ and one of these days since we keep crossing paths I hope to get a chance to meet you.
Those concrete interlocking blocks are called "Dolosse" in South Africa. Derived from Dutch meaning. Olden day kids might link dried oxtail bones to resemble a span of oxen pulling a wagon etc or carved bones used by adults in a gambling game similar to dice
I would love to with a friend explore those hiking areas as far I could handle.
Thanks for another great tour, Russ. The coast is not my thing; they can have those $boats$, but I know many people who love the sea. I like mountains with forests and desert areas. Have a great trip.
Great video and I’ve been pondering at AEB. I think you were the one that pulled me through on a purchase 😊
Awesome video
@13:43 you were riding your bike past the city swimming pool and talking about the city being old. You are right. I'm 66 years old and I grew up in Gold Beach, OR. The closest pool was in Cresent City and in the summer time, our school district would bus us students down to that pool in Cresent City for swimming lessons.
Those huge concrete things are wave breakers. They were placed before the 1964 Alaska earthquake. Many were washed inland about a mile.
31:20 I stayed at the Redwood Inn back when it was a Travelodge in 2003. I ate at the Taco Bell and McDonald’s across the street. And shopped at the Safeway behind McDonald’s. Nice little town. When I left Crescent City it was 50-55 degrees in the middle of August. When I got home in Salem Oregon a few hours later, it was 100 to 105 degrees.
I love your E-BIKE❤
Cool sounds atir of an octopus.
I hope on some trip you are able to visit Steptoe Butte and Palouse Falls. You would love them. And if you are a daredevil, drive the Spiral Highway. The Palouse is a beautiful area. Happy Travels!
May have stayed here as a kid and camped in a tent with Mom and dad cause it looks very familiar.
Great vid!
The tsunami of 1964 swept several blocks inland, killing many and reducing half the town in rubble. That was driven by the Great Alaskan Earthquake.
Just got back from Redlands CA via central Nevada. Can you say HOT! Today it's supposed to hit 105F here in Spokane Valley WA. Yikes, did I bring it home with me? Your video looked so cool and refreshing. I would take a good dose of marine layer about now LOL. Great campsite on the beach! Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
Kevin
