Camped one night in Jedediah Smith Park, I had an anxiety attack, ended up in the emergency room attended by the handsomest man I've ever seen. He thought I was pregnant, but was only gas! Oh. Well. Love your contrast between minutiae of life and the big picture!!
I really enjoyed giving you that 100 dollar bump during your live chat. I've enjoyed your adventures and your life travels. You have really communication skills. Years ago I traveled Northern California, Oregon and Washington state. I loved every bit of it. You are a inspiration to many of us. Even on your bad days hehe. So Thank you for being You Real. Hi scott, Your coffee making videos are novel. I think your tea kettle is interesting. I have never seen one like it. Is there a tea kettle story there? Your a genius in your own way.
Good rest is always a plus... Keep listening to your innerself can not go wrong in the long run, but that's me, you keep up what's best for you, which is #1. Food for thought is part of your journey I most enjoy.
Enjoyed the video as always. Saw your packet of himalayan pink salt. Fun Fact: It comes from the khewra mines and I've been there plenty of times, they are a couple of hours from where I come from in Pakistan. The mines are actually in the salt range mountain range which are not technically part of the himalayas but close enough I guess because Himalayas start from the north of Pakistan. Its interesting to think about how our humble salt which is really cheap back home has travelled all the way to california and is probably being sold at quite a premium.
Absolutely Beautiful scenery, sorry you got a headache, I know sometimes we are our own worst enemy. You could be singing or talking on your phone, it goes on all the time, keep them guessing. LOL Stay safe on the roads, but thanks for taking us along!
Awww, you love grilled cheese, who are you kidding? Not me. 😜Beautiful area. My favorite kind of place. Even if i don't NEED to feel bad for you, i will. I don't want you to feel poorly.
Good real healthy bread is hard to find sometimes, you really got to know the ingredients, I go for a simple sourdough bread recipe or a ciabatta bread that uses sourdough starter yeast and I like a good pumpernickel bread that also uses sourdough starter yeast with healthy few ingredients. Enjoyed the video see you here soon and take care.

The weather is always over cast in Crescent City because it is below sea level. I guess that's why I love it as an adult. Nostalgic. I used tonlive where you slept and you actually showed my old aparent. I was there back in 2001. Wasn't always the safest place l, but I guess it's cleaned up. That first road to the beach (Preston island) is called skateboard hill and the rock with the split was called 69 rock. I couldn't tell if it was still there but in the 90s it had 69 spray painted on it. Sorry it wasn't too exciting for ya and you had to deal with the not very neighborly locals. But I'm glad I got to see the town again even for a little bit.
👍🤩I appreciate you sharing the info about those areas up there so I know what to look forward to when I go that way. It seems it’s the place to be when it’s super hot everywhere else. 😍💝
I have an idea, you can buy 2 of the small half and half instead of a large one to fit in the small spots in the fridge 🤩 WOW when you were talking about the eating icecream that didn't agree with you and the headache, I have the same sensitivities. Also, I am allergic to oats, so I use the macadamia nut milk which I've had no bad reaction So I'm very careful about what I eat if I want a dessert bcuz I don't want to lose 3 or more days of my life anymore That's good you're feeling better Have a peaceful evening 🤗
Little creep was probably going to steal your solar panel. Am glad that you at least didn't get a migraine. Maybe make tortillas? I met a guy from Crescent City once in CANCUN of all places. We hung out and did sightseeing things for the week. Fun. I lived in MA at the time. Small world.
👍That’s a nice change. Society Hole seems wonderful. I’m cracking up because I’m just like you when it comes to “too many people” and the loud music. I have to go somewhere else. 😂😆
I actually enjoy a fried egg on my oatmeal 😊 I truly love the Smith River! I must need to take a drive up to where this was made! I don't normally watch a video twice, let alone comment both times! 😅
Making your own Turkish flatbread is very easy to make and very good for sandwiches and eggs. You are familiar with cooking and it takes so little time to make with no preseratives. Buy a larger size half and half and dilute some for your Turkish bread. You will need some flour and yeast. but I am sure it will be great for you .
I'm messaging you on your coffee addiction. If you don't spare the bean, you spoil the child. It's biblical! You're welcome on my Hotel California singing. Lol.
I don't know if this pencils out for you economically but you're only a 1/2 hour from Brookings, OR. There is a Grocery Outlet and gas is cheaper. You could obviously still drive back to Crescent City. I don't know about the camping possibilities, but if you did not want to go to Oregon there are some amazing sand dunes and beach close to the Smith River, Towala Dunes. Also here's the deal, at least in Oregon, many places that you might want to go are graveled roads. Some are not maintained all that well. You have pot holes and other problems. I have a low clearance Prius and I don't want to get stuck or high centered. It's hard to get recent advice on road conditions. I often park closer to 101 and walk down. That's not bamboo BTW, but probably horsetail.
Happy Tuesday Static. You have made an official oat milk latte drinker out of my 15 year old son. We dropped in to our local Sprouts for some dinner ingredients and he purchased a product by "Pop Bottle". Hope your enjoying the day.
It’s been a work day. I’ve been editing all day and now waiting for TH-cam to finish processing my vlog. Hmm, I have given up oat milk. I’m happily back to using real dairy. I haven’t tried Pop Bottle products. I also haven’t been to a Sprouts in a long time. Miss that store.
I hope you don't have a gluten intolerance.. I found out I do.. gluten is in a lot of breads. I also have to watch the amount of sugar I eat as well.. Thank you taking us along on your journey. Safe travels.
“Butter delivery device” 😂 Nice! 👍🏻 I’m watching this video while enjoying a cheese and mayo sandwich on sourdough…I’m glad I watched the video where you ate that yesterday. It’s very good! I am going to take a nice hot shower and then drive over to the St. Croix River to soak up some sunshine this afternoon (since I didn’t get to see the ocean, like I was supposed to).
Hi Scott. So sorry you weren't feeling well. I love sour dought bread, but the last few times I've eaten it I wound up with a stomach ache.😒 But, your toasted bread looks so good I think I'll try it again. Feel better.
Love your videos, Scott 👍 you cracked me up with the part about looking like a nut while blogging. 😂 I’m going to be doing the whole van life adventure within a year. Cant wait. See you out there on the trail. Janet
Happy to be of service. I often wonder why more people don’t weekend travel more. There’s always so much to see close to our homes. You can focus on finding all the hidden areas.
Hello again, FYI those are called horse tails or Equisetum 'genus', they sort of resemble bamboo. They are an ancient plant and go back to the age of the dinosaurs or the Jurassic period. Also, the Smith River is known for steelheads. Thanks for showing areas around Cresent city, take care and safe travels.
Hello. You might want to look into the biocomp metal allergy test used to see if your allergic to stainless steel. It’s has nickel which I found out I’m highly allergic to. I was using a stainless steel tumbler with lemon juice which prob made it worst . I switched to a glass tumbler and my pain has gone away . Just though I would mention as you seem to be on a health kick like me . Also try siete almond tortillas . They are delicious and I never get tired of them . Safe travels
Hi. Hope you’re feeling better now. Coffee gives me debilitating migraines. No caffeine, no chocolate, no processed foods and no wine for me. Migraines suck.
Use to live there and Brookings. Lots of sightings and locals are afraid to talk about it. The Chetco River and the Kalmiopsis Forest has had many sightings dating back to the late 1800s and I was privileged to spend some time with the native American elders who truly believed in Sasquatch and depicted it in it's petroglyphs and artworks.
For me and bread goes I miss the bread I used to get at local Safeway back in the early 1980's and it was not a normally stocked bread because it came from the local Monastery. The Monks are great at bread making it seems. They would bring their small supply of bread to the store and it was not stocked where the corporate bread was stocked. Believe me it sold out quick. I like sour dough but a very difficult bread to find was salt rising and they did a great job with it. The Monk's bread was dense and a small loaf but it was one pound loaves. On the bread wrapper was a Monk character and the slogan was "if you can't pronounce it don't eat it".
I don't drive a lot, so about once a week I have to run my van and I run it for half an hour to an hour and oddly enough I use less gas than if I had drove it for that long 😇
Came across this video randomly and I live in Crescent City. Preston Island is called Skateboard Hill by the people who live here. The cove you found at the end of the river bar at Society Hole is amazing, but there is usually people out there, unless you get there early so not always worth the bumpy ride. Also, the camp you found in the woods… probably homeless people. 🤷🏻♀️ Also, it’s Redwood National and State Parks, so the National and state employees help each other out throughout the entire area.
I frequently go to the food bank in my area, it helps with my grocery bill 😉 I live in Tillamook country so my food bank gets Tillamook cheese, butter, yogurt and even ice cream sometimes 😇
Hi scott, have you thought about getting two of the small cartons of milk. I know it's not as cheap a one big one.. But maybe you could fit them around your food a bit better, just a thought. I would not like running out of milk for my coffee. My family don't like me if I don't have at least two cups in a morning😂😂
TIL about something called a "pencil" that needs to be charged through a magnetic doc on the side of an apple tablet.... Also, I looked up your old battery video to remember what you had bought and its up to 379 on AMZN already. 😬
I tried RO water because my friend got a filter in his sink I was so excited to have free water 🤣🤣🤣🤣but it made me not feel very good so I had to go back to distilled or spring and paying for it😌 story of my life🤣🤣🤣
People here in Arcata and Eureka talk about how gray and wet Crescent City is 😂 But, Smith River is absolutely stunning! It's my favorite of the 6 Rivers! I don't see it as often due to the distance, though. Unfortunately, Crescent City is full of crime. 😢
I did a cool hike in Brookside. I was looking for the Oregon Redwoods, but there was a National Park keep driving pavement turns to dirt but was easy and I had a dodge caravan. It was very peaceful with a stream by the trail.
Hello Scott, You mentioned having the dilemma of not having room for a large half and half and always running out fast...well it occured to me that you could buy both heavy cream and whole milk in dehydrated form...maybe something you might want to consider. Then you could mix up some as your fridge room allows. I get it at Amazon but I have seen at least while milk at Walmart...they probably have the cream too...I've just never looked for it there. Hope this helps??? Happy Saturday!!! Hope you are doing just peachy!!! 🥀🤗🥀
I haven't got room for half and half either.. I use it up with coffee cream. ☕️ 😁 Half and half is halfway to being coffee cream. Please tell me you'll try it snd I'll never mention it again.
I can't add a picture but coffee cream is 18%, half and half is coffee cream mixed with milk. 10%. Most dairy companies in Canada sell whip cream 30%, coffee cream 18%, half and half 10%, Homogenized 3%, 2%,1% and skim 0% I guess you could mix whip and half and half to get coffee cream if its not available in California. 🤔 Most coffee shops in Canada offer half and half instead of coffee cream. I'll never understand that. I always ask for " real coffee cream" they rarely understand what I'm talking about. One very successful coffee shop in Canada has a little secret they don't talk about and it's probably one reason for their success... they use 18% coffee cream.
Oh I see. Restaurants have something similar available to order here in California. But I've never seen or heard the name you're using. I've also never seen it for sale in any store. Including the restaurant supply stores.
I enjoy making naan bread, it's nice and soft and easier than tortillas. On the con side they get stale fast. I think some of those areas up there where state and fed land overlap are jointly managed.
We don't do Walmart but there are 2 bakeries. Boo's Organic Oven in Joshua Tree as a lovely multi grain sourdough that I can eat (flour, starter, seeds, water) for a good price. Luna Bakery is in Yucca Valley and their sourdough looks good for $2 more & they make a lovely gf almond cookie that is a nice treat once in a while. It's hard to have to be a detective in order to eat.
I'm a retired security officer captain from south Florida get some mace for protection while you're parking in different places I'm also a retired local singer and guitarist over 50 years
Engine idlers need another planet; they are certainly not connected to this one. Awesome river. "...I'm not grumpy anymore!" 👍😎🇨🇦🌊📷☕🍞🌻 p.s. people like you are part of why California is so great. 🐻 and LMAO on the vlogging embarrassment!!!!🥸
Have you try magnet usb cable ? If accident happened it's simply demagnetized itself then the plug and cable stay safe ( may you know all that already ) but don't know if you can find one with high speed charging and long enough. Btw nice place ;) I love little river like this, by then enjoy
Scott, l really enjoy your videos as the other folks in your online community! I would ride in your van easily, l know your driving would be so peaceful and calm and l can seriously count on one hand how many people l trust behind the wheel of a moving vehicle. I have Samsung tablets so don't know what you mean by charging the pencil of your IPad. Anyway, great bargain find of the cover, very impressive. Also, l shop at Kroger and Publix more from habit and convenience and saving on gas mileage and that sourdough bread looks so tasty. I have never seen it at my stores, is it just in your area of the country? Also, whenever l drink coffee creamers with a lot of unhealthy additives, l have unpleasant stomach issues. The healthier creamers l can tolerate but the price is too high for my small food budget. I wish l liked half and half like you, it is a better choice, but l prefer a vanilla or caramel flavor in my creamers. So, l understand your bad reaction to ice cream loaded with chemicals, but we are all guilty of making mistakes while grocery shopping. I really enjoy how you enjoy your lifestyle. God Bless!
Hi Scott! I think we all are having food issues as the food is made with ingredients that we can’t handle like when we were children. Now children are having a hard time. Our poor livers are paying the price too. Good thing you were watching out with that guy. These days with crime up and desperate persons, you can’t afford to not be on guard. That was a nice park and woodland. Hope you have a good day for your daily hike tomorrow. See ya later🐊‼️😎
Hi Scott 🌞 Maybe you should buy a container of powdered creamer,so when you get low on Half,nHalf you have a Back up!👍🤞✌️🙌🙏🇺🇸🌅🌄🌞💫

Are you Jeremy Clarkson? Last I saw, that battery was at $499. You spotted a deal.
Stout Grove is a cool place to meet more stump buddies.😀🌲
Are they all as nice as Mr. Red Woodstump?
Even nicer😀
And they promise not to eat your grilled cheese sandwiches 😋
👍
I tried RO water because my friend got a filter in his sink I was so excited to have free water 🤣🤣🤣🤣but it made me not feel very good so I had to go back to distilled or spring and paying for it😌 story of my life🤣🤣🤣
Was that water filter an Alkalizing filter? Because that would explain it. I don’t seem to feel well drinking alkalized water.
People here in Arcata and Eureka talk about how gray and wet Crescent City is 😂
But, Smith River is absolutely stunning! It's my favorite of the 6 Rivers! I don't see it as often due to the distance, though. Unfortunately, Crescent City is full of crime. 😢
Haha, it’s all the PNW. Just like Seattle, it rains everyday all year long, right?
@@StaticCamperVan yes! 🤣
My favorite bread is Italian bread i was eating lots of wheat bread but it very chewy Italian bread is much easier to for me that is
I did a cool hike in Brookside. I was looking for the Oregon Redwoods, but there was a National Park keep driving pavement turns to dirt but was easy and I had a dodge caravan. It was very peaceful with a stream by the trail.
Hello Scott,
You mentioned having the dilemma of not having room for a large half and half and always running out fast...well it occured to me that you could buy both heavy cream and whole milk in dehydrated form...maybe something you might want to consider. Then you could mix up some as your fridge room allows. I get it at Amazon but I have seen at least while milk at Walmart...they probably have the cream too...I've just never looked for it there.
Hope this helps???
Happy Saturday!!!
Hope you are doing just peachy!!!
🥀🤗🥀
A few months back I switched to heavy cream. I use less so a carton lasts longer

lol, ok whatever floats your boat punkin.... Just trying to help a lil.
🥀🤗🥀😵💫🥀
I haven't got room for half and half either.. I use it up with coffee cream. ☕️ 😁
Half and half is halfway to being coffee cream. Please tell me you'll try it snd I'll never mention it again.
Is that a regional product? I’ve googled it but can’t find any items with that name.
I can't add a picture but coffee cream is 18%, half and half is coffee cream mixed with milk. 10%. Most dairy companies in Canada sell whip cream 30%, coffee cream 18%, half and half 10%,
Homogenized 3%, 2%,1% and skim 0% I guess you could mix whip and half and half to get coffee cream if its not available in California. 🤔
Most coffee shops in Canada offer half and half instead of coffee cream.
Franz Bakery Outlet!!! 1661 Parkway Crescent City
Thanks but unfortunately Franz uses a highly hybridized wheat that I don’t digest well.
I enjoy making naan bread, it's nice and soft and easier than tortillas. On the con side they get stale fast. I think some of those areas up there where state and fed land overlap are jointly managed.
Well you do go to Walmart sometimes
We don't do Walmart but there are 2 bakeries. Boo's Organic Oven in Joshua Tree as a lovely multi grain sourdough that I can eat (flour, starter, seeds, water) for a good price. Luna Bakery is in Yucca Valley and their sourdough looks good for $2 more & they make a lovely gf almond cookie that is a nice treat once in a while. It's hard to have to be a detective in order to eat.
How nice to have two bakeries such a small town
I'm a retired security officer captain from south Florida get some mace for protection while you're parking in different places I'm also a retired local singer and guitarist over 50 years
Engine idlers need another planet; they are certainly not connected to this one. Awesome river. "...I'm not grumpy anymore!" 👍😎🇨🇦🌊📷☕🍞🌻 p.s. people like you are part of why California is so great. 🐻 and LMAO on the vlogging embarrassment!!!!🥸
I thought I was the only person who gets annoyed at endless engine idlers! Haha ✌🏼
Have you try magnet usb cable ? If accident happened it's simply demagnetized itself then the plug and cable stay safe ( may you know all that already ) but don't know if you can find one with high speed charging and long enough. Btw nice place ;) I love little river like this, by then enjoy
Good idea with the magnet cable
God Bless!
Thanks Ramelle. I find sourdough is very different in every new city.
I make my own flavored creamer by mixing: 2 c. H&H, 1 can sweetened condensed milk and 1/4 c. (vanilla or salted caramel) flavored Torani syrup.
All the more reason for us to start cooking for ourselves, right? ✌🏼
