Not really. In these kinds of conflicts, both parties are wrong. Just because one side shot first doesn't make retaliation by the other side right, and even bringing up the history to try to find a starting point for someone to blame is nothing but trying to justify unjustifiable violence. It doesn't matter who shot first, or second or third or fourth. The only thing that matters is who's shooting next. It's like the bloods vs crips. It doesn't matter whether it started with a blood killing a crip or a crip killing a blood, and they both use their insistence that the other side started it as an illegitimate excuse to continue retaliating, and I've never met a third party or seen arguments online about which of them is right or wrong. At some point both sides need to just realize that their retaliations are really just causing the future violence against their own and are therefore hurting themselves. The only difference is if one side flat out refuses legitimate offers of peace from the other side and continues to take the offensive against another side that only takes the defensive.
I hope you are right but I tell you what my family and I have move way into the Yanders of America and am sure my great great great great grandchildren will still be watching the re-match between Israel and Palestine.@@charminxtra226

i was genuinely confused by the fact that this video is 2 years old. the fact that it fits exactly to what happened 5 days ago says everything about this conflict.
As mentioned in Obama's memoir, A Promised Land, the UN declared Jerusalem a region no states could occupy. Yet, gradually over the decades, Israel insidiously expanded resettlement in that area... occupying more real estate from the Palestinians to breach the status quo set by the UN. Obama sympathizes with the historical plight of Jews. However, the former 44th POTUS frowns upon the Israeli forces' advancement in military weapons to dominate and bully the neighboring Arab people.

But I also have a friend from the Iraqi area i met online, who is across the planet and we have the same major and we study together a lot and talk about life. It's been really educational talking back and forward, i wish everyone could have this kind of connection.
I have an Israeli friend on Discord who I met and befriended a year ago and who i'm still friends with and I worry about her everyday and I'm even more worried because she's going to be in the army pretty soon and I'm hoping that nothing bad happens to her and she stays safe
Just starting to explain the history of the conflict, which most people would try to look at first, would take ages. Trevor just boils it down to the current mess, raises the actual issues, and asks the important questions. Doing so without choosing a side and still not offending anyone was pretty close to impossible, but he did it. Massive respect!
Actually I think he largely missed, and potentially offensively so. Full disclosure, I am an Israeli. The major point in my perspective is not who is the most powerful, because both sides strive for dominance in a way. Only one side is incredibly more successful at it (I would add that it is due to it's willingness to compromise and it's show of compassion and regard for human rights, but that is a different issue). The point should be the end of armed and violent conflict. And for that the question of proportionality in power is irrelevant, because even a weak actor can create incredible violent destruction. The real issue is who is the aggressor, or initiator of violence.
You don't need to know the history. Just the present. Palestinians will not accept Israel on any terms. Their leaders are very clear on this when they speak in Arabic.
@@salasharif9919 not correct. Israel won in 1967 despite being heavily isolated, with no US aid. And that was the decisive victory which helped Israel stabilize it's power, and gain US full support as an independent reliable player in the cold war and the middle east. Besides, US is a highly aggressive and self-interested in the global arena. It wouldn't support an ally without some sort of gain. The US is paying much more to defend south Korea, or for NATO (which Israel is not a part of) than what it pays Israel in aid. Comes to say, Israel is a fully independent player, both in means and in interest.
@@lorozeetzeyoter Nothing he said was offensive. You may disagree but it was not offensive. The major point to my mind is not about power but whether a just resolution has been found. And as long as the illegal settlements exist and are even expanded then it never will be. The first step should be taken by Israel to remove these settlements unilaterally. Then a just peace is achievable. I know, the counter to that is that Hamas will never accept the existence of an Israeli state. Yes, they will. Or at least the people who voted them into office through sheer desperation will accept it, once they see it is actually possible. And if this concession by the far mightier power at this stage in the conflict doesn't secure a reasonable response by the Palestinians then Israel will be able to take everything back and no one would bat an eye on the world stage. Because everyone could see that at least Israel had made a just concession to achieve a just solution.
Wow! Two years later this video is still making sense of how difficult to solve the conflict between Palestine 🇵🇸 and Israel 🇮🇱. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on that.
Yea. I keep looking at the 1947 map that has the outline of Israel, but says Palestine as clear as day. And then I go read about this Balfour agreement where the very white very racist at the time UN gave the land to Israel and I think I can see the nature of the problem. Palestine never agreed. They've never ceded this conquest. The west has armed Israel to keep them there. Now I gotta read what our strategic interest is. Looking at a map, I predict it's the suez canal. Does the suez become any less vital in a world not powered by oil? Does dragging the world into a big old fight distract it from getting off oil? Who benefits from that? Are any of those parties that would benefit, the ones funding hamas?
It’s not difficult. One country is civilized and allows its citizens to have a choice. The other is still stuck in medieval religion scared to death that Israel might be bad influence to their citizens. Because freedom is not in line with Islam. Going to music festivals is against Islam. So Israel must be destroyed. Why is it so difficult to say. Why are Muslims moving to Europe and the USA and refuse to assimilate and accept western lifestyle? Oh I know the answer. Infidels.
This is a tremendously difficult topic to discuss on social media but Trevor did that like a Champ but as much as I liked watching the segment, I just loved the comment section. It shows humanity is still alive in this trying time. Respect for all of you.
Its never been a difficult topic . Think of it like that . Im tunisian .my country came to colonise your country your land your ressources with the help of britain and Usa. Moreover ..israel never existed before .. it was created by britain to occupy the land of the country of palestine . This is a truth and this is history
Why is this even a difficult topic lol? There is absolutely no symmetry in the 'conflict'. One side imposes a harsh, brutal, vicious military occupation rife with human rights abuses, arbitrary detention, torture, extrajudicial killings, settler terror with impunity in blatant violation of international law, Fourth Geneva Convention, ICJ Advisory opinion in 2004, countless UN Security Council Resolutions while the other side exercises their right under international law for an armed struggle for self-determination. These are just facts. Nothing to do with opinions or political tendency.

“Who is right and who is wrong depended on where you start measuring time” - wisest words in understanding history
At some point it becomes irrelevant... The fight must stop and the parties to find a common agreement.
I hope you are right but I tell you what my family and I have move way into the Yanders of America and am sure my great great great great grandchildren will still be watching the re-match between Israel and Palestine.@@charminxtra226

The UN said "stop the violence " is like telling a depressed person to "stop being sad".
You chose to be violence you don’t chose to be depressed.

2. You are right, let's look at who's dead, if a Palestinian in Gaza who's a member of the Hamas dies while going to set a missile he should not be counted like you count innocent casualties
3.. 6, and this is true, 6 of the children dead are dead due to one of the terror groups (Islamic Juhad Group) shooting missiles that fell short and hit Gazans!!!

@@lorozeetzeyoter you’re only powerful due to us taxpayers since the USA gives billions of free money to Israel to “control the Middle East”
And it will make sense, 2 years from now, 5 years from now, 20 years from now...
Infidels.

Not always, if you have no power to help and you are not even there its neither your fault or reason for shame. Influencers rarely or even at all talk about international politics. Of the few that do, way too many are paid to promote a view and are literally spreading propaganda. There are however a number of independent political shows that do talk about it and only the ones that align towards the left have an anywhere near correct view on the matter. Basically, all the mainstream outlets and more moderate Democrat-aligned outlets have a too Israel-centric view on the matter. Mostly "Israel has a right to defend itself" or trying to do both side-ism without even mentioning the power disparity between the two. I was genuinely surprised to see Trevor present a fair and more accurate view though considering that Trevor grew up in a society that treated blacks just as the Israeli government is treating the Palestinians it might not be so suprising.
I've only seen one influencer talk about this so far (other than Trevor)
