Seeing the woman laughing about being a fascist, and admitting that the feelings of her neighbors are irrelevant…. That she never cared to even think of how her neighbors felt. She even believes that there’s basically no other way to be. And she closes her statement with a huge wide open laugh. That was scary to watch. I never seen such level of entitlement and arrogance….she looked so cruel. And imagine that in order to have an idea of what happens there, you need to multiply this woman by the thousands. But she is the clear representation of what takes place in that part of the world EVERYDAY. ( I appreciate how the journalist just look at her straight in the eye…and then look down. Those two looks…said a million words. )
and she, and people like her, will always bring the topic back to the holocaust while still laughing about being a fascist. bone-chilling statement for sure.
I fear if given a chance, that fascist young woman would be capable of hurting people she sees as inferior. Obnoxious, evil person. Dangerous for any country to claim her as a citizen.
the admission and self-awareness in a way at least carves a path that if she would be educated then her awareness that something is off would be reconciled...maybe? but people usually don't change. The scarier thing is when people are so convinced that they are right and will never accept that maybe there is something wrong out loud. The point is, we need more discussion like this one to hear the spectrum OUT LOUD, and it will take more than just one person and example, because one person you can ignore, but many, then we need to see why. Obviously her sentiment is echoed throughout which is troubling, and on both sides that we've seen in interviews.
It does seems disturbing the more I learn and watch about these issues. The more it seems like Palestinians are treated like 2nd class citizens and how alot of Israelies are either indifferent or seem like they are justified in doing anything they feel like in response to any problems with Palestinians.
@@Aokami11 That's only the Palestinian's perspective. I agree those are horrible acts that I would never do, but those exact things happens to Israeli people way more commonly.
Interesting how she admits she would spit on Arabs as a teen. I point this out because she was never arrested, but Palestinian children are often arrested for similar offenses and treated as criminals. If you are anti-Palestine and didn't think, "She spit on a human? She needs to go to jail" then I hope you never think it's appropriaite to arrest and keep children for years/decades who are from Gaza for similar offenses. Because this kind of dichotomy in treating these offenses shows your bias if you do.
I have never heard about someone who jailed for spitting on someone. dont say spitting isnt crime or disrespecting but it isnt crime I would consider as jail worth.
To be exact: she said that she HAD a criminal record for spitting on arabs and such as a teenager, which means that she was delt with by the police and treted as a criminal. Sometimes we are so desperate to see the narrative we want to see, that we stop listening...

Typical Jew response, nothing but deflection. Why don’t you respond to my original comment. By the way the world knows that Israel was behind 9/11. My father and his family were booted out in 1948 from Al Lydd Palestine now Lodd, he was born a year before in 1947. I want most of you to understand that palestinians are not people that came after israel was conquered. Palestinians are the descendents of the people of Israel. Many of them converted to Christianity other converted to Islam. I live in the wonderful country of America. Many people thought I was jewish including my siblings. What should have been distant cousins living with distant cousins under the same land, was switched to "you! make room, take what your hands can carry, and live over there!" This wonderful video makes me want to cry for that missed opportunity of seeing peace between people. Instead, we see people far removed, with internal hatred in their hearts in both sides.
There is a group of power hungry right wing Israelis that do not and have never wanted peace. Just look at what happened after Netanyahu and Likud came to power the first time. Oslo Accords just won Arafat and Rabin the nobel peace prize and were a big step forward towards peace and a 2 state solution. One of the architects Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin is then assassinated by an ultra right wing Israeli and then Benjamin Netanyahu comes to power and all that progress is not just erased but set back even further.
My grandmother and her family were ethnically cleansed from Al Lydd too. She was 13 or 14 when at night israelis with guns came and didn’t allow to take anything with them. They ran to Gaza. 75 years later my grandmother lost her home again, as she was living in the Gaza city. She told that their bloodline was descendants of Canaanites so basically my family was living there for thousands of years. Now I only pray for my family in Gaza to survive. Watching the videos with israelis, seeing how they think only brings utter disgust to my heart.
As long as your goal is that Israel stops existing, there will not be peace. As you can see in this video, even settlers in the west bank which are far-right, will gladly accept peace, they don't mind living under a confederation, etc. But Israel is not going anywhere.
@@abebabe3069 there was a video, where a Palestinian woman tried to reason with a Jew settler. She said O uncle Yacoub, you cant steal this house, you know this is wrong (something like that). And the Jew, Yacoub, said "IF I DONT STEAL IT, SOMEONE ELSE WILL STEAL IT".

It is a real challenge for me as a German citizen to form my opinion because we have been and are under so much moral pressure to hold back on our political positions and opinions towards Israel. On the one hand, born in 1948, I have personally always felt great guilt towards the Jews. On the other hand, I don't understand how those who experienced the Holocaust can behave like the Nazis once did. Who can explain that please?! Besides: Thanks for the initiative of the NYT and the journalist
Israel is not behaving as the Nazis did. There is no comparison. They have to occupy Gaza and the West Bank to protect Israel from the terrorists in both places.
Idk but my guess is, it's similar to how when a child is abused by a parent in a particular way, sometimes they grow up to abuse their children in a similar way. Maybe it touches that part of them that's traumatized, when they can cause that same trauma to somebody else. Maybe they want others to suffer like they did. I can only guess but it is shocking to see israelis act exactly like nazis.
Because what you were told is a huge exaggeration of the truth. Don’t even believe me but pick up a history book and look at the behavior of these so called persecuted individuals and how their “persecutions” manifested themselves-from both sides
Here is a tweet by Mosab Hassan Yousef maybe it will help you understand someday Arab ancestors lied to their descendants about their past defeats. The "Palestinian" forefathers were so ashamed of their defeats that they turned them into massacres and ethnic cleansing. (better to be a victim than defeated) Many Westerners today have been repeating the same false narratives as if they were true. If Israel ethnically cleansed the Arabs we would not have 1.5 million proud Israeli Arabs!! Spreading false narratives by some morally bankrupt liberals who found an opportunity to inflict emotional pain on the jewish successful minority is pathetic and disgusting and their evil intention will only contribute to the endless cycle of violence. What is happening in Gaza is not a massacre nor a genocide. It is the latest Palestinian irresponsible gamble of their own children's blood. Palestinians brought this onto themselves. If the Pro-Palestine movement in the West really wants to help Palestinians they should educate them on how to be civilized, how to coexist, to renounce violence and let go, instead of investing their energy in spreading false, baseless, and delusional narratives.
There are extremists on both sides. This fiasco should be blamed on Britain. They made up the Balfour Declaration in 1917 that allowed Jews to move to Palestine and be given Palestinian passports. Mr. Balfour was a British Christian Zionist who supported the Jews. The Palestinians should make up their own declaration and call it Arafat Declaration and give all Palestinians British passports and the right to live in Britain & set up a Palestinian homeland there.
There seems to be a basic settler assumption that they have a right to this land that is already occupied by others. Their ancestors may have lived there 2000 years ago and any continuous connection to this particular piece of land has been lost. What is happening is despicable. It is delusional and inhumane. It is theft.
And we all know that not even their ancestors have lived there as most Israelis are genetically white and not Semitic! They are Europeans colonising Palestine

@@ibobeko4309 I agree, I dont understand why Israel is so surprised that Palestine is fighting back after all the extreme violence they have caused them.
I think the farmer put it best, when you get to know your enemy, it becomes complex. The only way to indiscriminately harm others is to dehumanize them. It is much harder when they are your neighbors, employees, and, maybe, friends.
Isn't that just the truth. Propaganda has become so intertwined with modern society as well, with advertisements and such, that it becomes harder to remain impartial when everyone is trying to shove a view down your throat, that is biased and unfair.
Irina Rostkoko that is an absolute fact and a testament to how dispicable we can be as a species, but I think the better point is that it begins with dehumanizing people. When you create a nothin of "them" as opposed to "us" it is much easier to hate.

2manynegativewaves I think you hit the nail on the head. We need to ask, what is it that can cause people to change in such a dramatic way after having years of non violent interactions. I would put out there that the difference is that an ideology or practice that allows one person to dehumanize another lies at the foot of the problem. Another way to look at it, is by examining how people defend the truly dispicable among us. Whether we are taking about Stockholm Syndrome, press releases by a cult, or criminal defense attorneys, the fundamental principle is the same, we treat people we think we know better because we think we know them. Sadly, this does not mean we can solve the world's problems by introducing people but that was never the point. The point, to the extent there is one, is that human connections are powerful and, when possible, should be used to give people pause before they drive head first into hateful ideologies.
This is exactly how the USA government has been able to demonize not whites as terrorists. For countless war. It shows they're different and not the same as us. It's always been about dehumanization. We must wise up and move immune to these tactics.

The saddest thing imagine coming to work building buildings and homes that you won’t ever be able to purchase or live in heck you probably won’t even be able to walk on the road the buildings are on. As an American I always thought oh Israelis are constantly attacked and need to protect themselves that is until I went to Jerusalem and traveled throughout the West Bank even stopping by Hebron. This trip really opened my eyes and reality smacked me across the face with my own eyes I’ve seen roads and areas that Israelis and Foreigners were allowed to be in I’ve seen roads and checkpoints specifically designated for Israelis/foreigners and one for Palestinians. I met a Palestinian family where there homes front door is on a road Palestinians are not allowed to walk on so they bolted her front door shut and the whole family needs to climb through windows or go through the back road just to go to work school or even for a simple thing as a breath of fresh air. While in Hebron i stopped by a store to get water and as I was walking I seen a Palestinian women with kids no older than three all being harassed by a group of young Israeli teens no more than 15 they were throwing garbage at the women and her kids while yelling what I think were insults all while 3 IDF soldiers stood no more than 10 feet away I tried to intervene but I was called a stupid American and the soldiers proceeded to escort me away for trying to help this woman with her kids. I left to visit Israel to experience a nice peaceful trip and what I got was opposite simply put what is happening in the West Bank is apartheid and Palestinians are second class citizens at the very best I can’t imagine to think what the Palestinians in Gaza go through.
One of my friend had similar experience 😔she is American Muslim .She was hit by police in Jerusalem. She heard screaming of women in the middle of night.
There was none of this before the Palestinians started attacking Jews. Listen to Mossab Hassan Yousef. The Jews in Hebron are an ancient community and as a minority in the city have a right to be protected. The Arabs tried to murder them all in 1929 and they need protection.

In the beginning she stated that she wanted to hear the point of view of the settlers that many Israelis view with very mixed feelings and therefore it’s easy to make assumptions about them. She herself admitted to it. The documentary (big difference) deals with this topic. For the amount of time she had approx. 10 min. You can’t deal with more than one question. Yes I agree that in general it is important to hear all sides. But one documentary can’t do it all and also shouldn’t. There are other videos that deal with other points of views. Someone else already pointed out, that it’s obvious what the Palestinians think concerning the question wether the settlers should stay or leave in their settlement.
That blonde Jewish girl said she was a fascist. Like she happily described herself as a fascist. I will never for the life of men understand how a Jewish person could happily and willfully embrace the ideology that got 6 million Jews exterminated 70 years ago.
It's interesting to see how a nation founded by persecuted and oppressed people liberated from concentration camps has in time become the persecutioner and the oppressor of others. It's as if they've forgotten their own history. The lack of accountability and self awareness is staggering.
Building settlements is definitely a form of oppression for sure, but the blockade imposed by Israel and Egypt on Gaza is 100% a legitimate (and the only reasonable) security response given who their government is. Regardless you need to remember that Israel has offered 2-state solutions and the dismantlement of settlements multiple times, and that the majority of the population is anti-settlements except for the religious people. To compare Jews to Nazis is unhinged.
Think about PTSD and how PTSD works, even generationally. Think of Soldiers and how they handle family with PTSD. Think about Family life and how PTSD changes it permanently. there's nothing complex about Israel/Palestine situation. Israel is annexing Palestinian lands and killing their children and Hamas is retaliating. why you and almost everyone else in the western world thinks its complex because thats what the zionist media AKA mainstream media tells you so

@Take a Chill Pill Yes they did. Go talk to them if you like but I am still to meet a Palestinian Arab that is thinking anything other than all Jews leaving the land. They do not care if an individual Jew has paid an Arab for this land or the fact that in many cases the previous owner profited handsomely from the sale to a Jew. I have also spoken to a lot of Jews who have bought land that is in dispute from the previous Arab owners and they paid well over the odds for a piece of desert. Its easy looking a piece of land that now has trees on it and a lovely house, but when you look at the land before the improvements where made and then see the price that they paid for it, you have to admire the tremendous effort that they have poured into this land. You have to understand that for most people that live in this world they have not been given anything free. They have on an individual basis had to go and buy land from an owner(these where predominately probably Arab) and then build what ever lifestyle and home they want. For this individual they obviously feel that they are entitled to continue living and raising a family in their home that they have paid for. The Jews from a historical and religious perspective been prepared to pay way over the odds for land that they feel a spiritual connection to. There is no other religion on earth that has this connection to the land around Jerusalem.other than the Jews. If we left this just to normal market economics those that have the greatest desire to live there would pay the most and under these conditions it would turn Jewish because the rest of us would not be prepared to pay the prices that they do, for a patch of desert.

As a matter of fact, before a journalist lands in Israel, there's a whole lot of "help" organised for them. Help that functions like blinders work for a horse. They advise them on what to see, and "how to keep safe". They get escorted by a whole team you don't see in the filming who provide them with so much "extra help" in the form of extra footage and photography, and in general make it easy and tempting for a journo to be lazy yet look like they did so much coverage. That's what's really behind the scenes here. If some renegade journo doesn't comply, they get harassed, have equipment seized (just the hint of that threat steals the sleep from a journo), and may also get his/her cavities searched like a regular Palestinian. Also bear in mind that the settler community is highly militaristic and aggressive towards dissent (something brazen in those streets but the escorts have edited out on the fly), so you can't roam that area and flaunt a contrarian opinion. I get this is where they grew up and they were brainwashed into this way of thinking but that woman who literally got stabbed still managed to think critically about the situation, there is no excuse. I mean the one guy who said his dad sprayed bullets at people throwing rocks??? An M16 likely issued to him by the state to terrorize his neighbors with? It's just not normal never has been never will be. Even the researcher who seemed more moderate of the bunch was still like you get desenstized to it after seeing the workers a few times. Follow up question should've been are you concerned that you feel nothing when you see genocide happening? The thing these people lack is empathy it's astonishing that empathy can be trained out of people. These people come off as inhumane at times and it's genuinely scary.
When the gentleman was saying that you cringe when you see Palestinians stopped at a checkpoint, but you become comfortable with it after 30 times, I was reminded of this little poem: "Vice is a monster, of so frightful means, as to be hated, yet needs to be seen. Yet seen too oft, familiar with its face, we first endure, then pity, then embrace."
Can someone explain to me why Jewish people find it hard to separate religious identity and ethnicity? Just as all Muslims are not Arab, all Jews are not indigenous to the Middle East. From my POV the only indigenous people here must be native Middle Easterners, including Arab Jews who were around even before the formation of Israel. The Torah is not a land deed, any more than the Bible or Quran.
While I commend your effort to try and not make this about ethnicity so much, you should read the enormous amount of history that the Israeli people have there. You can disagree with the fact that they took the land while also understanding that they have tremendous historical ties to this land. Look up what people group lived in modern day Israel for the past 4 thousand years. They live there now, they aren’t moving back to Europe and the rest of the world. So the conflict needs to be solved so that both Palestinians and Jewish people can live in harmony.

My father and his family were booted out in 1948 from Al Lydd Palestine now Lodd, he was born a year before in 1947. This wonderful video makes me want to cry for that missed opportunity of seeing peace between people.

On the other hand, I don't understand how those who experienced the Holocaust can behave like the Nazis once did. Who can explain that please?! Arab ancestors lied to their descendants about their past defeats.
The "Palestinian" forefathers were so ashamed of their defeats that they turned them into massacres and ethnic cleansing. (better to be a victim than defeated)
Many Westerners today have been repeating the same false narratives as if they were true.

Building settlements is definitely a form of oppression for sure, but the blockade imposed by Israel and Egypt on Gaza is 100% a legitimate (and the only reasonable) security response given who their government is. My father works in Israel. He looks for artifacts in the land. They find Ummayad, Ottoman, and Roman coins and artifacts. Palestinians have a lot more heritage in this land than any other Jew on this earth since they are descendants of all the parties that existed there over different eras even Hebrews themselves.
@@BeeboHamido they've got more chances of finding their real heritage and family members in Birobidzhan, which is the original state given to them by the Russians. Even though they wiped out the Romanovs in cold blood.
They are Arabs most of whom came in the later 19th to early 20th centuries
Imagine I take a house that was taking by force from others, Imagine I live on their lands that they worked so hard to plant and build? and then seeing them being treated like foreigners and not even taking their rights? I would be so disgusted of myself for living with no single guilt
Now make a video for the neighbouring Palestinian villages to this israeli outpost
Yes I want to here more about how they feel about coexistence and how many pregnant women have been stabbed by non-Palestinians.
@@aliciabell6688 I also want to know how many Israelis lost their homes and land because of a Palestinian State created by the West without their consent against the will of all its neighbors.
They already have. Most Palestinians want all Jews to leave Israel without compromise.
Only reason so many cry 'why those arabs have not been interviewed' is that you won't find a single arab journalist, that goes into the palestinian territories and shows - unbiased - the real hate that comes from there.
Their suffering yes.... but never the radical racist opinion of a lot of them.
And now you talk to an israeli journalist she shall go there and, again, show the poor arabs and their suffering, nothing else.
Sheer hyopcrisy.

The young woman at 7:35 is hope for other settlers who want peace and justice.
In a total war situation she would offer little resistance.... Horses for courses, I don't think everyone on either side is quite ready to sit down around a campfire holding hands and singing kumbayah yet.... The unfortunate truth of humanity is individuals form groups from which they compete with other groups to control resources. Coexistence went out the door when you turned the land into a prison and it’s inhabitants into prisoners. They say they want to make piece but the overtone has superiority and birthright all over it. Both sides are gonna have to humble themselves quite a bit if they expect to make peace.
7:18 sad because they have no choice but to work building the settlements that will one day kick them out into neighboring countries.
Now you can see this documentary in a new light.
I don't think you even saw the documentary. It did not paint Israel in a god light. I t went over complex information.
@@sdasdsdsd213 Only seemingly so. The trick is, as Chomsky puts it, to limit the viewpoints allowed to be discussed, and then discuss them fiercely. And then you have the appearance of honest coverage. Your trick should be to find out what the coverage is avoiding.

Thank you Iris Zaki and all the people who stopped by to talk to her. I'm from the U.S. and Jewish. I think it was wrong to establish these settlements. They are like pouring gasoline on a fire. Times change and land changes occupation over time. Really since humans came about, land has been fought over. We do a great job fighting each other. Israel had a border in 1949 or so, stick with that border, is my opinion.
This conflict is not about land friend. As far as the Arabs are concerned, Tel Aviv is a settlement just like Tekoa.
Dignity for all of the people who live on the land. The same rights and respect.
an interesting insight thank you. It is a shame we can't all think like the pregnant lady who got stabbed.

@Keith Karrot I don't think I understand her position. She said both sides have to find a compromise and live together. But by living in the settlement she is taking part in the expansion of Israels territory? How is that a compromise..
Think in a bleeding-heart way?
Idk how someone thought it'd be a great idea to build settlements within another country and deprived their lands with walls and border guard. A better alternative would be building a settlement where you're legally own the land (eg. Negev desert).
but you must remember that slow genocide of the Palestinian population is also the goal of settlements
like the muslim communities in Netherlands?
@@zuldo8577 if the Netherlands ever feels there's such a danger, they can kick them out or do whatever they want, cuz these communities didn't come by force and don't have any force to defend them. But the truth is that the Netherlands economy has some benefit from them

It should be noted that many of these settlements were established during active wartime between Israel and Palestine and its allies, and so which land belonged to who isn't really respected during that sort of time. Hearing that the settlers are taught from birth to fear violence and attacks when their people are the terrorist was extremely hard to listen to.
When the gentleman was saying that you cringe when you see Palestinians stopped at a checkpoint, but you become comfortable with it after 30 times, I was reminded of this little poem:
"Vice is a monster, of so frightful means, as to be hated, yet needs to be seen.
I can't believe a Jewish person literally said ''I can admit there is something fascist about me''. Wtf
