I was hoping the second part would eclipse the first, and for all the ex-pro's you've had on who've been entertaining/laugh a minute, Christie's journey has been one the sincerest from all the guests you've had on.
The overriding aspect listening to Christie is here is a guy who was appreciative for every minute he had in the professional game despite the knockbacks. Modest, and not consumed by money.
Mentally it must have been soul destroying to have the injuries he had in the latter years, and completely understand why he had to take a step back from the game and channel his energy into his family once he retired.
Humble guy to go writing for prospective jobs even when his playing days ended, and clearly not afraid of hard work.
Nice to see him so candid about depression/stress/pressures. Wish Malcolm well, and I'm sure many of the young kids he coaches will learn a lot about football, coupled with being instilled with having some fundamental principles to set them on the path going forward.

Wow! Just wow. I’m blown away by this 2nd part.
I am so disappointed in my team. Hearing the way they handled Malcolm’s injuries I am mortified. The club was in its most successful period in its history and we let him down.
I hope he is able to find success in everything he does and lead a happy life with fond memories of his time as a professional footballer. Best wishes Malcolm Christie and well done to you lot at under the cosh!

Heartbreaking story from a great player who had a really tough time. Down to earth and come across as a top man. Good luck Malcolm, you deserve it.
Malcolm’s story is heart breaking, he didn’t have the career he deserved to have, due to questionable treatment/ rehabilitation. His honesty is a breath of fresh air. Hope he gets the future he deserves though. Top class podcast, definitely up there with the very best.

Boro medical team where dangerous
Malcolm is a top guy. Glad to see he’s found his love of football. Had the chance to meet Malcom and he told me this story about boro. Just glad it’s out and that the boro fans know. Because he’s right. He was made to look injury prone. When really the club was a shambles. Would love someone to reach out to him from MFC with an apology.
I can appreciate where Malcolm is coming from. When you are stressed, low in confidence and racked with self doubt, it is a terrible position to be in. It ruins your life. I can only imagine the pressure he felt when he couldn't do the shooting drill at Middlesbrough. When you're in that type of situation everything seems to be 10 times worse
The gross negligence from Middlesbrough during Christie’s time there was absolutely disgusting!

Malcoms story is a bitter sweet rendition of a fan that became a professional but had to witness seeing his dream to become a nightmare but you will never take away the goals he scored and hopefully his memories

How strong is Malcom?
Top lad, like many had no idea his career ended like that.
His story is incredible.
He should be employed by the FA or clubs to go and tell his story to kids in academies etc.
Maybe a football counsellor of sorts.
His story and experience could help and inspire so many.

I’ve watched Stewart Downing and Kev Lynch. Downings insight was fascinating and great to see his personality and quips through his footballing career. Kev Lynch gave me belly laughs with his old school charm and beaming smiles at days from a bygone era. Malcolm Christies story was a bittersweet tale of coming from nothing, to living the dream and then having it cruelly snatched away. But throughout it all, it has guts and heart and that’s why I’ve thoroughly enjoyed what Malcolm had to tell us. Thanks lads.

What a fantastic session. As a Forest fan, I wasn't ever keen on Christie and I guess it was due to his Derby days. Really enjoyed listening to him and understanding football from a fascinating viewpoint. So unfortunate with his injuries. You can feel everything he's saying from both the love and the disappointment.

Malcolm used to beg to play with me and my mates when we were knocking a ball across the street from his house when he was only 5 or 6 years old. At that age he was even able to compete with us 13 year old first team school players. Knew he was good enough for top flight. Never knew this story, though.

Very inspirational. Top guy, should be proud not only of his achievements but his strength of character to get through some really difficult periods. Life is tough at times & Malcolm’s story is an example to us all.
Carrying on from part 1 this one got better and better as it went on. Loved how he was so honest about his salary and the way he was ill treated at the clubs he was at, showing how ruthless and brutal football really is.

What a really well spoken fella. Comes across as a real down to earth guy, who just loved his football and wanted to be part of something. The pure negligence from the medical debacles throughout his career is heartbreaking for him. So sad how it ended for him.
Proper interesting and incisive interview this one of my favourites. You can tell Malcolm is a top bloke and has come from a down to earth family. They must be extremely proud of him for what he’s achieved and how he managed to keep going no matter how hard life got. His story is actually quite inspirational.
Heartbreaking story. Genuine guy, deserved better. I played against him a couple of time as a junior player I remember he had immense talent. At least he got to the PL even if not for long.
I'm a Newcastle supporter, no real connection to Christie. But for some reason I will always remember watching his brace against Man Utd with my Dad on tele as a kid. In these 2 episodes he has came across as proper sincere and genuine bloke. Hope he is really proud of what he achieved. Class story. Great episodes.

Heartbreaking this! Should be immensely proud of what he achieved and without that goal in cup for boro we'd never of won a trophy. He's fondly remembered on teesside and I hope his time here as a coach is a much more happy one.

One of my favourite ones this. Watched nearly every episode bar the patron ones. He had such a raw deal with the injuries and the advice and the way he explains it shows the human side that gets forgotten sometimes by the business side. Wish him the best for the future in whatever he ends up doing.

I much prefer hearing stories that give an insight into the football world and players unique experiences, whether happy or sad or angry or whatever than the generic "lads lads lads" type drinking stories. We've all got plenty of stories like that of our own, it's great to hear something unique. Keep up the good work.
I was there that day at Old Trafford as a teenager. Me and my best friend at the time (Derby fan, and I’m a United fan) went up with his dad and brother, got to see my team lift the trophy and they stayed up, great day all around and a pleasant car journey home.

Aside from specialists judging he had a contributory back issue? Sounds unfortunate as fuck and defo would've played longer... Not always someone to blame though. If he'd gone to insurers, he'd have looked at legal options... 100%. Obviously nothing came of it.

So very sad to watch and hear Malcolm story. I remember watching Malcolm when he 1st came to my club Nuneaton Boro setting the world a light and every Nuneaton fan believed he would become a huge successful pro footballer.
Such a top guy, I even had the pleasure of meeting and talking to Malcolm when he was a special guest at our end of season presentation evening just after he left the Nuneaton to Derby.
Malcolm will always be a true goalscoring legend down at Nuneaton.
Must of been heartbroken when he retired sad end to a promising career, respect to him for his outlook on his new life

What a good genuine bloke Malcom Christie seems. He's achieves a childhood dream playing professional football and you can tell he genuinely Cherish's every memory of it. Even Alex Ferguson saying he's name 😂👍 top bloke and I can remember watching derby as a kid, he was decent.
I hope he' ends up well off and gets plenty of £££ as he was way better in every way than a lot of the current multi millionaire, lazy players who are more interested in Instagram than they are in achieving some success on the field. I'm 100% buying he's book

Amazing story. Very disappointed in my club, Boro, it goes to show we never know the full story. Malcolm has a lot to offer and I think it would be prudent for Boro to reach out to him and ask him to help guide the younger generation of footballers as well as some of the older pros who may be going through something similar.
Thank you for the Brighton goal. It started a small piece of history for my team that I may never see or experience again.
Derby Legend and from the looks of it. Above all a good man . Really saddens me to hear the club did him dirty like that. But he gave so many lads the hope to stay in football and ultimately probably saved lives to.

in the top 3 for me this, the contrast between both episodes, malcolm is a fantastic story teller and gives you an insight into the dark side of football, i feel he had grounds to sue middlesbrough for the medical negligence, such a shame.

A fantastic podcast, different from others but so interesting in hearing a story like Malcom's
Could not believe the treatment he had when he first broke his leg.Had similar experience, I broke both tib and fib in 1970 playing amateur football, when he explained the treatment cutting a hole in plaster and putting a wedge in to force the bone in place. The same treatment being used 30 years after ,my experience is unbelievable,my leg is still a mess and I understand what he went through.
