definitely. strong personality. he's going to tell you the story he wants to tell you, and then for the last 10 seconds he'll give you half an answer to your question. good way of holding frame.
Burnley fan here. What a fantastic podcast this was! Has to be said that despite the whole debacle in the 09/10 season, I think it’s safe to say Burnley wouldn’t be where we are now without Owen’s work. Of course it left a sour taste leaving to go to Bolton, but the appreciation will never go amiss. :)
I love Owen, his enthusiasm is amazing. Plenty of ex players say he doesn't do enough work on shape and tactics but surely you'd rather play for Owen than some chap with an I Pad who got top marks on his UEFA training course ?
It hurt when Coyle left us mid season for Bolton but over a decade on I’ve got nothing but respect and admiration for Owen. He rejuvenated Burnley and laid the groundwork for our success of recent years. Cheers Coyleeeeee
Legend of Scottish football. Hated him when he played with Airdrie. He eventually came to my team Falkirk in his later years... and all fans I knew where delighted because you knew what you were getting... he was one of those players who gave everything he had to win. Absolutely need a part 2 and possibly part 3.
Being a Burnley fan I wasn't sure what to expect, but I enjoyed that. Eye opening to hear what was going on behind the scenes towards the end of his time at the club. More so to hear about the Venky's and how they are stitching up their managers!
Love a podcast came across this by chance brilliant could listen to Owney all day long, grew up with Owney in the Gorbals he’s one of the nicest most genuine guys you’ll ever meet absolute gentleman
Gutted we didn't manage to get a 'Coyyyyle' out of him!! I thought he'd be a right loose cannon going off the way ex pros have spoken about him but his enthusiasm for football is infectious... Be a class manager to play for... Legend 👏🏻
What a guy, be a goodman to have a brew (or a bisto) with. Can see why he was relitavely successful whilst in the prem, how could you not wanna play for him.
As much a I like parky, I don't get his constant negative comments towards players who took a pay cut because they wanted to play. Nobody judges you because you wanted to remain with your lard arse on the bench picking up cheques.
The guy should be on mastermind with a memory like that, great watch. As a bwfc fan gutted it went pear shaped after a good start. Good at lifting a team with potential but being able to maintain that was his weakness, especially when we had a bad run of injuries. Some poor signings and bizarre selections (Bogdan over Jussi for example) just made things worse.
Brilliant Interview..Big Coyley's top notch ...so much enthusiasm for the game..any young player would benefit playing for him ..Great move by Queens Park getting him in ..fantastic podcast..Hail Hail Oweny Bhoy 🍀👌
As a fan that Reading game was incredible, I was exhausted afterwards, it felt like I'd played. When Branagan saved that penalty it felt like we had scored.
you forget that in the 15 years difference between coyles and parkys age more footballers have had to become mercenaries as you get a deal and very rarely after say a 3 yr deal is done you get another as the managers probably changed twice since the one that signed you.
@@rampantram1 Watched all undr the cosh and nearly all the guests have said they would rather play football than sit on their arses just collecting money some of the boys never even took their insurance money because they wanted to play Football
And if it makes you all feel better I didn’t know about Dave’s ‘controversial financial background’ but then again I wasn’t the one interviewing him for a popular podcast to thousands including his victims probably 😂😂 Can’t wait for the live shows lads thanks for getting back on the road so soon cos I missed the last show I was gutted 👍🏻
I like him but also thought it was full of well rehearsed 'after dinner circuit' type anecdotes, and sometimes also came across like he was selling his managerial and playing record like it was a job interview. That said, all outweighed by his great energy and positivity though, good character.
Sean Dyche spent 750k on Ashley Barnes the season we went up. Don't know what he's on about parachute payments for, most of Dyches squad were free transfers. I don't care that he was on the same contract at Bolton, he left Burnley in the middle of a relegation battle. He'll never admit it, but the biggest mistake he made was leaving Burnley.
I like the intro. It's like a podcast warm up. Get the blood flowing, blow away the cobwebs, stretch those audio-visual hamstrings with a bit of lackadaisical chat. Something nice to ease yourself in gently before hearing about players crudding in a teammate's boot.
Cooooooyle.
"We're bottom of the league but he's flying in training"
Neeeeoooommmm
Puts a cross on a sixpence, I'm breastfeeding you lads 🤣🤣
Wonder if he’s a Dillinger escape plan fan

Never seen anyone drift further from the original question asked yet somehow reel it back in. Quite the art.

Class that one fellas, surely be a part 2 ?? What an infectious man he is could talk football for hours with him, unbelievable football memory an all
Broke my heart in January 2010 when he left for Bolton. Should be a Burnley legend but will always be despised for his betrayal.

Amazing lads - I’m a Celtic man so can’t wait for this.
Heard so many stories about owen on here and on open goal
‘ ccooooooyylleeee’ 😂
Top bloke. Reckon he raps quicker than Eminem 😂 you lads never got a word in
Coyle is a proper football man...top man and his positivity his infectious!!!...Top man...⚽️❤
Hopefully there's a part 2 with him! Brilliant
As a Bolton fan, can remember Coyle and his days at Burnden.
Good old days then, when Bruce Rioch was manager 👍
Was at that cliftonville game and he did indeed score a cracking goal when he lobbed the keeper.
Met him once when he was manager of Burnley, put down his dinner with his family to have a photo, absolute gent of a bloke and a proper football man
Glad you've Coyle on after the Ben Marshall episode (one of my faves that one)
As much a I like parky, I don't get his constant negative comments towards players who took a pay cut because they wanted to play. Nobody judges you because you wanted to remain with your lard arse on the bench picking up cheques.
Parky is an out and out minge bag anything for a freebie it was always about money for him.
Think parky over plays it
He left premiership stoke to go to pne and took pay cut
He played in six tier till he was 40

One of the best this. What a bloke, comes across as the type of fella who you’d want along side you in trench’s. Long live coyleeeeeee
Would love to play for Coyley as a gaffer, top man!

Another great podcast would like a part two as was mentioned , great footballing guy as a player and manager .

Brilliant one that. Going to see how many Coyle goals I can find on TH-cam now 😂

Always thought he seemed like a top fella. Comes across really well. Very engaging. Can see he’s a manger who you’d really want to play for.
Loved watching the silence from Parkin, when Coyle mentioned about playing on and not sitting on his arse.
Parkin played till he's 40
I think I’ve got this set on x1.5 speed. 😂😂
Muamba coming back to the Reebok was one of the best experiences of my life…….
Brilliant. What a great guest!!
COYLEY 👏👏 what a man!!! Been looking out for his results with Queen’s Park seems to be doing well enough long may it continue 👍 PART 2
Great podcast and what a top top man Owen Coyle is 👏👏👏👏👏 Can’t say the same about Bruce Rioch
Top man. Great episode.
Great episode. OC seems like a great guy.

Great podcast. Top bloke he is Coyle.
Owen, great pod-cast and its not all about Money ( big john ) just enjoying his football so refreshing to listen to players who just love the game

Yeah Uncle Albert got them mixed up. Either Coyle did the exact same thing or he's made a story up...

3:52 - that's a massive shame as was hoping we would eventually get treated to parky's views on why birds aren't real.
That’s a great Chris Eagles story. Has Chris been on the Pod?
Another gem lads.

Owen coyle was shithot on masters football goals for days
Excellent. As always.
Not bad would definitely like to have heard about more about Blackburn and being a manager in America or should I say Soccer coach .

Then he gets the ball and scores a goal - Owen Owen Coyle.”
