Doncrete actually makes a lot of sense in the terms of Kanto/1st gen as Giovanni is the leader of team rocket which main theme is a mafia and all. He’s also the Ground type gym leader, I could definitely see it being his signature Pokémon.
Personally I always liked the theory that the gengar line represented the stages of entering our dimension. It’s starts with gastly who can barely manifest itself to haunter who has hands but not their full body until gengar when it’s invited into another dimension (kind of similar to a vampire) and able to manifest fully. I feel like your new evolution still fits this even if it was unintentional. It’s like a haunter tried to force itself into our dimension and got torn up in the process. I love it
That theory actually makes sense the further you go. Mega Gengar and G max gaining more power now letting them control that ability (mega being able to travel between dimensions with ease and G max becoming a portal to the after life)
I like the idea that if Dismandurr was in the anime it would do the bit of just popping up saying "Disman!", but none of the characters own it, it literally just shows up
I can imagine there being a dex entry for Goregooz being something to the effect of 'This pokemon was believed to have existed in the far past thanks to old stories, but with the advent of trading those stories faded from time. After the loss of trading these pokemon began reappearing in hordes turning fellow Pumpkaboo into this pokemon'. Plus it's a sort of reference to the whole ancient zombie virus from long ago reappearing in modern times trope.
Exactly my thoughts. Even then, I can still imagine a few wild present day specimens ended up mutating into Goregooz by managing to completely avoid human interaction their whole lives. I can also imagine the species was kept on government watch in case a Goregooz did spawn, so it could be immediately killed without infecting other Pumpkaboo in the wild, which could explain why they were never seen in present day Kalos, and kept a secret from the public.
Whack being improved in rain is interesting for the origin side that you didn’t mention. Some recipes for Roman concrete are theorized to contain volcanic ash. The ash would expand when exposed to water from rain or waves, filling in cracks and strengthening itself over time.
I definitely appreciate the decision to make an evolution of Roggenrola that actually goes along with the initial design idea. It was so strange to me that they made a Pokémon that connected speakers with cave echoes and then just made a rock monster that doesn’t have anything to do with those elements
@@chickenofdoom6 I don’t have anything against Gigalith it’s just weird that they made a Pokémon so clearly based off cave noises but it loses all the sound stuff when it evolves
Just some thoughts: - Ajjimajji does a great job of blending together elements of Kadabra and Mega Alakazam to create something which is obviously similar and yet obviously different - I'm a sucker for Pokemon whose bodies have weapons built in (Magmortar, Scyther, and Scizor are all among my favorite Pokemon), so Bombeedel is right up my alley. It also does a great job of capturing the design philosophy of a lot of gen 4 and 5 Pokemon - lots of round shapes and exaggerated proportions highlighting important elements. - Canopriest highlights one of my favorite types of Pokemon, Pokemon who take inspiration from interesting real-world biology and turn it into a magical creature - Boombrocks looks so alien, and feels like a very natural progression from Boldore, while still being very distinct - I really hate Conkeldurr, but I think Dismandurr would be one of my favorite Unova Pokemon if it were real. I love how it leans into the goofy elements of the design in a self-aware way. - Gourgooz is my favorite by far, since I love pumpkins, I love grass-types, and I love zombies, and this just does an incredible job of blending all of those concepts together.
I think it would be really cool if Dismandurr and Machug were a pair of natural enemy pokemon like Zangoose and Seviper, because of the whole strongman aesthetic of both, along with the boulder of Dismandurr and the gut of Machug being the rocks they carry to show off their strength.
Man, I was NOT prepared for Dismandurr but it's definitely my favorite of the bunch. The more comedic nature of the name and concept really stands out amongst the other edgier designs introduced. Side note, I kinda feel like the Ability name "Infanticide" might be a bit _too_ edgy. Maybe changing it to something like "Prey on the Weak" or "Easy Pickings" would be more fitting while staying true to its intended maturity level.
I think bombeedel's hidden ability should be either an ability that gives priority to explosion and bomb moves called Short Fuse, or an ability where it only loses half its HP when it uses self destruct or explosion, called Grenadier.
Maybe like a pseudo focus sash where if its not already at 1 hp, it'll drop it to 1 HP. Since all the detonation moves are normal type, you can have it give a stab bonus to make it more of a threat? So at best, 2 explosions, and at worse, someone has a sandstorm out.
I really love the concept Behind machug, I just wish his gut sort of “read” easier as a part of his body, if that makes sense? The atlas Stone motif is awesome, but with the way it’s modelled it almost looks a bit like a Big floating orb. Maybe if Machug was like holding on to his gut in a more up right position it would read a bit better, and having to constantly hold up and lug around his masterful dadbod gut would also make sense in terms of lore as to why his arms have gotten waaaaay bigger and stronger.
Really like all these new designs, especially the Kalos ones. Only criticism i would have is that 1) Except Dangal, none of them have new typing, if feels a bit like a missed opportunity (Boombrocks could have been rock/normal) 2) The gut on Machug doesn't feel like it connects to it's body, and if we see it as an atlas weight, that makes two fighting type pokemons that carry big spheres in the same region
@@psychopath682 Machug and Dismandr are a comedy duo like Ludicolo and Loudred in some of the movies. Just 2 buff dudes showing up to lift larger and larger things. After the protagonists defeat the episode's villain Doncrete, it gets it's comeuppance when it gets stuck as the weight the duo wants to lift.
Honestly I think Machug and Dismandurr being similar makes sense. The Machop and Timburr lines are already direct parallels to each other, so having their non-trade evolutions be similar isnt too weird IMO
These are cool idea and i might be blanking but what is the other fighting type that carries a big sphere, also rock normal sounds like a terrible because all I would do is give Boombrocks a 4x weakness
I heard somewhere - and I can't remember where - that trade-induced evolutions were basically the opposite of happiness evolution in term of lore, and I always thought this idea was neat. The reason a Pokemon evolves when traded is because it reacts to being suddenly in a new environment far away from its trainer. It's a loss of bearings/reference points and these specific species of Pokemon react to it by evolving into a stronger form as a mechanism of defense. It's similar to how, in the anime, many Pokemon evolve while "in need", when they're losing a battle or under stress. On the opposite side, Happiness-induced evolutions happen because the Pokemon is comfortable enough with its trainer. They evolve when in an environment in which they thrive, when they have access to everything they want - food, exercice, love - and for the anime comparaison, some evolve for the needs of their trainer or to become a better protector to them. It doesn't make sense to me that these Pokemon could only evolve because of a trading machine, because, otherwise these third stages wouldn't exist at all in the wild? So I think just the act of trading is giving these Pokemon a shock pushing them to transform, and that in the wild, they would evolve similarly when under stress, "to adapt". At least that's my understanding, let me know what you think of it!
There a theory that said the reason pokemon evolve by trading is because they think that they trainer is disappointed with them that they became stronger so the new trainer will be happy with them
I really love Gorgooz because of that whole zombie dynamic (like a town is struggling because they are such a disruptive and numerous force) and they are super resilient to most pest deterrers, but Canopriest acts as the one counter as it's 'poisonous' sap would be super effective against ghosts. I can imagine a gym leader who constantly fights off hordes of Gorgooz to protect a town, aided by his trusty Canopriest.
If a Machug and a Dismandurr meet in the wild I imagine an interaction similar to that scene with Alex Louis Armstrong and Sig Curtis from FMA would ensue.
24:52 - I absolutely love, that out of ALL the possible options for a new Gurdurr evo, the one Lockstin decided on, was basically “Massive Himbo. But make it a Pokemon.” 11/10. I love Dismandurr.
It's kinda funny how much detail Lockstin will go into when researching certain elements, getting pretty specific and informative, and then for others he's like "the priest sash thing" lol
I honestly screamed when Machug said "It's Machuggin Time!" and then Machugged all over everyone. That moment makes this truly one of the fan games of all time.
So I have an idea how Canopriest could have been an evo without this energy thing, like pumpkaboo: Phantumps would want to evolve, which would lead them to remembering Trevenants and idolising them and wanting to be like them, but the distorted and idealised image they conjure in their heads leads to Canopriests. Also seeing as it's a flipped around Trevenant, you could also turn it's personality, so instead of caring about and letting other pokemon live in it's body it hates and attacks any that try to as to avoid tainting their body made in the image of it's "god".
Curious what an Alolan Doncrete (or Alolan regional evolution if something else) would look like xD. Also, the G-max and Megas for the other Kanto trade evos (that have them)
Infanticide would make for an interesting counter to Eviolite users. Maybe at it's base, the damage boost should "only" be 25% as non fully evolved pokemon tend to have much lower stats in the first place, so you don't really need all that much extra damage to knock them out anyways. Then if the opponent is holding an eviolite the boost increases to 50% to essentially "nullify" the effect of the eviolite (idk if the math actually works out like that but i think you get the point).
Bit late here, but when I first saw Bombeedel, it reminded me of something else that has a close relation. The Nordic History nerd I am, it immediately made me think of the Swedish Carolean Uniform, and that made me think deeper and brought up the idea of Gustavus Adolphus' army modernizations, as he was one of the first nations to merge mobility and firepower, using cannons that were maneuverable, which was very effective compared to the Catholic Cannons of the 30 Years War, which were much larger and heavier. If this were a real pokemon it's definitely one that would be very interesting to delve into, as I'm sure other comparisons could be made with several other armies throughout history, as opposed to just the French as you created it with the ideas of, and the Swedes, which my mind wandered to.
That’s what I was thinking. Maybe an additional aspect to the ability would be to ignore the defense buffs the Eviolite provides on top of the extra damage. PUNISH THEM for using such cheap stalling tactics!
Okay okay, but Dangal. If Dangal was a real pokemon it would actually be my favorite. Gengar is my current favorite, but Dangal has some Gliscor and Impidimp vibes to it, which I absolutely love, so adding the vibes of Gengar, Gliscor and Impidimp just makes my dream pokemon
26:15 ah true, never thought about it. The Wobbuffet scenes aren’t as funny with the English name. In German they made it, so that the scenes remained a joke (although with a different meaning): Wobbuffet is called Woingenau, which sounds like “Wohin genau?” wich translates to “Where to exactly?” And Wynaut in German is “isso” which is colloquial for “ist so” which basically means “it’s like that” (So similar to what the japanese name of Wobbuffet means).
I really think there should be a grass-type move that causes the status burn. Allergic reactions cause inflammation and increase the body temperature? Sounds like protein denaturation to me.
here are some ideas: electric move with a burn chance (20%) Dark move with a paralysis chance (30%) Dragon move with a burn chance (30%) Water move with a sleep chance (10%) Ice move with a burn chance (20%) Most of these would be balanced by below average power or low accuracy.
@@librathebeautifulwarmonk1283 The idea behind the water one is that some people use rain or ocean sounds to help them fall asleep, but now that I think about it, it should have the yawn effect instead.
Honestly, I like to imagine Canopriest, like Trevevant, is actually fairly benevolent. Like it can commonly be found around sites of evil or dangerous spirits... because it is trying to cleanse the evil using its spiritual abilities.
Canopriest is definitely my favorite of the bunch, between that solid design and really cool lore, this is definitely a pokemon I'd love to have on my team.
Canopriest is really cool, though I've got another idea for its signature move. Instead, Hallow could be a Grass type attack that has a 20% chance to burn, but also deals super effective damage to Dark, Ghost, Fairy, and Dragon type Pokemon (Dark and Ghost because their evil and unholy, Fairy because it represents paganism, and Dragon because they were often slain by holy people and were synonymous with the Devil).
This could be a whole type: Holy Type Super effective against: Dark, Ghost, Fairy, Dragon, (for reasons mentioned) Weak against: Bug (unclean), Grass (power of nature), Steel (holy wars and technology), Dark (can be corrupted) Resists: Water (enjoys being cleansed), Psychic (strong-willed) Resisted by: Electric (either divine or modern), Bug (unclean) Immune to: Holy
Hey lockstin filipino here, I like how the fact that dangal's name is the tagalog word for honor which is kinda ironic because this fakemon you have is anything but honorable which is funny really. You are really good at making the lore for these fakemon and my favorites here are Bombeedel, Mulance, Machug and Dangal are my favorite. Oh and Dismandurr too.
I like to think the reason certain Pokémon swap traits with one another during trade evolutions is because something about their specific data when digitally transferring to these “alternate worlds” causes their data, and thus thus their DNA, to get ever so slightly mixed up in the opposite body, causing the unique evolutions
Did you see anything about "seahenge" when making canopriest? It's an ancient site that was found in South England, believed to be some sort of religious site, with 2 trees which were uprooted, turned upside down, and replanted again with the roots facing the sky, surrounded by a wall. It really fits with canopriest.
I really like Canopriest! It may be my bias towards ghost/grass types or just for Trevenant and Phantump, but I think it’s a really cool idea with an especially neat signature move!! I also really like Professor Lilith and how obvious it is that she’s gen 7’s Lillie (maybe from another parallel dimension?) with the Ninetales that may have evolved from her Vulpix from the anime, her unchanged hat, and her seeming to follow in her mother’s footsteps!! This project seems really cool so far, I’m excited to see where it goes
I think the trade evos that use items should still get redesigns. Some of their body shapes still change enough. Scyther for example, his colour and scythes change completely. Perhaps when using a metal coat it know is a darker green and keeps the scythes but coated in metal. Maybe they still need the trade energy to involve into those exact forms. Maybe some other pokemon need entire new items to evolve, since onix doesn't change much you could give it a water stone for example.
Alternatively, it would be interesting to see what evolutions they would have if they didn't have specific items given to them, as both of Scyther's evolutions are item-based and change up the design greatly. I guess to some degree you could take the stance of 'if the design isn't broken then don't fix it' with Scyther since it already has such a cool design, but with it having two evolutions that drastically change it, it would be nice to give a proper scythe evolution rather than swapping out for a different weapons that sacrifice speed for more power and defense.
Quick theory about manga Mewtwo’s spoon. Perhaps it simply manifested the spoon from psychic energy or shaped it out of a remnant of a destroyed construct to compensate for close-range combat and focus its growing and increasingly realized abilities
I think it was simply because in the Pokémon world, spoons are associated with psychics for bending them, so a massive one that looked like a giant mace was a correlation with how much power Mewtwo has, compared to something like an Alakazam or Kadabra.
Mewtwo is literally Mew on all of science's steroids. Hence the strong & developed features, from an engorged tail, to massive legs, long arms, developed horns, neck support membrane, etc.
@@asparrow9876 exactly. Also, due to being created from Mew’s genetic code, Mewtwo would probably have access to all Pokémon moves, including Bone Rush and Bone Club. Perhaps without a bone to use unlike Cubone and Marowak, and with the whole spoon thing, they decided that Mewtwo being able to summon a giant spoon would be an adequate weapon with which to focus its power?
@@willow9490 I think the spoon in general is a perfect shape, it just looks harmless because it doesn't seem as heavy as a bludgeoning weapon, but for all we know, the vessel part of the spoon could be as thick and heavy as a hammer as a result of the psychic prowess poured into it. I think Dr Blaine hinted at that in the manga. Saying why Mewtwo can manifest it at such a size & manipulate it with such ease was a direct result of how perfect of a specimen he is.
14:03 I'm so proud that Lockstin mentioned my country! It's not mentioned much in terms of Pokemon inspirations and this makes me really happy! I hope to live to the day that an actual Pokemon game gets a region based on Malaysia. GameFreak would be able to make Pokemon with Malay, Chinese, and Indian design origins which would be so cool
I absolutely LOVE the designs of these, especially canopriest. If I may make a suggestion however for Doncrete is that it's ability gives it a stab like boost to dark moves like dhelmise's steelworker. That way it'd gain an extra boost to its signature move and some extra damage from its dark moves.
Oh, this- this is beautiful. Just the idea of a post apocalyptic Kanto in itself is awesome. But the subtle touch of maturity and deep inspirations for designs make this so much better! What a top-notch series this is gonna be!
Hey Lockstin, See if you can recognize the vine I'm referencing Kadabra: Master can I have some ice cream? Trainer: Yes but only a spoonful Kadabra: *Evolves into Ajjimajji and Reveals his walking spoon*
You definitely knocked it out of the park with these. The Ghost types though, FANTASTIC!!! Canopriest has now become my favorite fakemon. Ghost plants are also one of my favorite things.
The production quality and editing on this one were top notch, as well as the designs, origins, naming schemes, all that. So excited to see where things go from here!
I actually love the Boldore evolution. I just wish it had more obviously legs. Because as it looks now, it looks like there are crystals just near it, and it’s floating.
I like the idea that Disman's pokedex entry could say something like "In the wild, Timburs and Gurders will follow Dismans around to collect the beams and gurders from them destroying abandoned buildings"
I’d love to see Lockstin’s take on the other trade evolution Pokémon, mainly the ones that require items as he didn’t cover any item evolutions, like Electabuzz, Clampearl and Rhydon
While he could try to take a crack at those, he specifically stated in the intro that all Pokémon that evolve through trading with a held item can simply evolve with that item (either evolution-stone-esque or by leveling up while holding it).
@@michaelnelson1127 yeah but it would be cool seeing the other trade pokemon like seeing Onix more fit into with the rock typing and also making it even faster since that was what it's dex entries always talk about for onix
For Bombeedel's ability, calling it "Affix" as in "to affix bayonets before charging headlong towards certain death" could give the theme of innards out while still keeping the grenadier aesthetic
I would love seeing the "this region but FUTURE" idea expand to other regions once you are done with Kanto. A futuristic Unova will be harder, as it is pretty modern.
Machug as a strong-fat strongman is an amazing concept! Only issue i have with it is his manly gut really looks disjointed from the rest of the body. Almost like he's carrying a giant egg. Inb4 theory about it's secret connection to the Chansey family
I must say: except shelmet/carrablast, the later gen ones to me, from a design standpoint, look a lot more like alternative evos in the sense of, the official evos continue the concept, and these take it to a turn (unavoidable when making new evos for existing lines, obviously); but to me, some of them almost look like the official evo should be non-trade and these new ones would be split evos activated when trading, as they're a bit too different from the previous stage Even so, my favourite was Machug, with Dangal and Canopriest close behind!! I think one of the reasons gen 6 trade evos feel weird is that they're 2 stage lines: previous gens made trade evos in 3-stage, so you could get a fairly strong Pokémon on your own, but in X and Y you are stuck with a first stage Pumkaboo and Phanstump if you have no chance of trading
Actually the Gen 6 trade mons are 1 stage lines. Unevolved pokemon are called basic Pokemon, the first evolution is Stage 1 and if there's a second evolution that one is Stage 2.
I definitely think these alternate evolutions look interesting. Also the more reptilian look of Machop and Machoke makes me think they’d fit in the Dragon egg-group. Unrelated but even though Ghetsis was using N the whole time and would’ve disposed of him. I feel that the supposed goal to separate humans and Pokemon would’ve caused a Pokemon revolution since Pokemon like to battle so I doubt they'd appreciate being separated from their owners. It’s ironic since many Pokemon revolution fanfics have the Pokemon turn on humanity due to mistreatment.
Or causes Pokemon to make a revolution because they have been taken away from their trainers? Like they're treated like pets and animal companions than slaves lol.
I feel like most, if not all, of these new evolutions could be either item or “level up after learning/using this move X amount of times” type evo’s. Like Karablast could evolve after learning Self Destruct, or Haunter could evolve using a Dusk Stone, etc., etc. I just think that evolving via level up doesn’t really work with these awesome new evo’s, y’know?
I think I'll need to see Boombrocks from another angle to get a better grasp on it, but otherwise VERY COOL concept to introduce this fan region. AND on a small idea, if this region's theme is how pokemon literally evolve, like you know normal animals, I would recommend messing with some legendaries. Like having a steel sky-form Shaymin created when a Shaymin sniffs an artificial/digital flower, a new trio of legendary dogs based of the Johto starters (instead of the original eeveelutions) OR a new set of Steel-type Unknown that are based off of coding/notepad symbols.
Absolutely excellent evolutions! Really has me wondering what you might do with other pokemon whose normal evolution methods kinda disappeared. Climate change could easily result in a crisis where Shelder go nearly extinct and Slowpoke has to find a new way to evolve, for example.
Well, you are clearly an in-the-box thinker. Did you forget Castform exists? (Which really should get a Ground or Rock type form-change during Sandstorm. It couldn't be THAT hard to take Snowy Form, change the colors, & add a few pebbles floating around, surely.) Perhaps make an entirely new Pokemon whose gimmick revolves around Terrain Pulse & Nature Power, with the Signature Ability "Climate Chaos," where a different random weather effect or terrain pops up every other turn & after the 4th change starts doing one weather AND one terrain at the same time. Perhaps it should also effect the Pokemon like Moody, where different weather conditions & different terrains cause it to have different stat distributions & different types. Thus making it extremely unpredictable in combat.
@@timothyhansen6581 Excellent concept! Admittedly, I put most of my creative potential into my book and my own pokemon region I'm making, the Slowpoke idea was mostly a throw-away relevant to the concept of the video. Castform certainly deserves more love though, and an evolution based on the chaos of climate change would be a wonderful addition!
@@timothyhansen6581 Except, Castform getting a Sandstorm form would ruin its entire design concept. It’s based off of a water molecule and guess what rain is? A LOT of water, meaning Castform’s forms are based off of the water cycle. The Sunny Form might seem like it has nothing do to with the water cycle, but in fact, without the sun, rain wouldn’t exist.
I feel like Machug would have a signature move that's reminiscent of King K Rool's move in Smash, where he uses his belly to block and repel attacks. Call it "Body Block" or something, where Machug tenses its abdominal muscles and sticks out its gut to block attacks. Maybe it reduces all direct damage Machug takes that turn by 25% or something, and causes contact moves to deal recoil damage to the user as they hit Machug's insanely hard muscles.
With Goregooz, I think the feature of it instantly evolving other Pumpkaboo in your party could be very interesting. Maybe there are some moves it can only obtain if you evolve it at levels lower than normal
These designs are really creative and well thought out, its actually kind of sad they aren't real. I actually prefer them to some of their real trade evo counterparts! Also the artwork looks awesome, great job!
I always imagine trade pokemon should evolve through 'happiness' instead, like baby pokemon do. With the franchise's themes of friendship and teamwork and such, it just makes more sense to be for them to evolve out of being close to their trainer instead of being traded away. The Link bond from Conquest could also work, or Amie hearts.
Maybe for trade pokemon not needing an item you have a specific item that references trading given to them. So when they reach a certain friendship level with the item they evolve. Item specific trade evolutions could need a pokemon to hold this new item near them in your party while they hold there own. And pokemon who need eachother to evolve like shelmet and karablast could both need to be together before you can evolve them.
The legends behind Dangal are really interesting. Things like the Mananangal and Penanggalan are often classified as types of vampires. It really makes me want to do a taxonomical study of vampires.
The only thing I could see being an issue with Ajjimajji, is the lines on the tail, while yes they are meant to be the symbol of the zener card, the one on the card is longer and there's 3, where you decided to cut them off, and that you lost one, makes it look like 2 S's, which could be associated with Nazis, because they stole many symbols and icons from many religions, including the zener cards, and is one of the odd reasons Kadabra is thought to not be used in promotional material
The fact so many symbols are now Taboo just because of one group of people sucks Because if anyone recognizes it as possibly being connected to them, it leads to outrage
I think this can be fixed by adding an extra curve to the lines (similar to the ones in the zener cards)oso that the curves no longer resemble an S shape. I get why lockstin had to have two lines to make the hand imagery in the tail more obvious, so hopefully this could be a best of both worlds situation
As edgy as these are, I personally believe the majority of these would slide with gamefreak. The only problems I could see are Dangal's fleshy looking parts and ability's name ("Elder's Jealousy" would likely slide as an ability name) (If the dangling bits weren't pink, and just the same color as the body, I'm pretty sure gamefreak would be fine with the design).
Doncrete is a GREAT deisign, and I LOVE the Dark Mind ability, I feel like having more abilities that give extra type, resistances/immunities are always good
I think it's interesting that despite being set in Kanto, Lockstin is taking inspiration from all over the world instead of just Japan. I guess the Pokemon world is more sympathetic because irl the world would never come together like that, especially not in an apocalypse, apparently.

Doncrete actually makes a lot of sense in the terms of Kanto/1st gen as Giovanni is the leader of team rocket which main theme is a mafia and all. He’s also the Ground type gym leader, I could definitely see it being his signature Pokémon.
The design and Roman Concrete inspiration is so GOOD.

I love it
Not grenadier more like talented pyrotechnician

Just some thoughts:
- Ajjimajji does a great job of blending together elements of Kadabra and Mega Alakazam to create something which is obviously similar and yet obviously different
- I'm a sucker for Pokemon whose bodies have weapons built in (Magmortar, Scyther, and Scizor are all among my favorite Pokemon), so Bombeedel is right up my alley. It also does a great job of capturing the design philosophy of a lot of gen 4 and 5 Pokemon - lots of round shapes and exaggerated proportions highlighting important elements.
- Canopriest highlights one of my favorite types of Pokemon, Pokemon who take inspiration from interesting real-world biology and turn it into a magical creature
- Boombrocks looks so alien, and feels like a very natural progression from Boldore, while still being very distinct
- I really hate Conkeldurr, but I think Dismandurr would be one of my favorite Unova Pokemon if it were real. I love how it leans into the goofy elements of the design in a self-aware way.
- Gourgooz is my favorite by far, since I love pumpkins, I love grass-types, and I love zombies, and this just does an incredible job of blending all of those concepts together.
DISSMAN! is gonna become an inside joke of this channel, I already know it XD
I like Conkeldurr. But Dismandurr is funny too.
Is it just me or does anyone else think Goregooz gives out Toxel vibes?
Tbh, you don't even have to stop just at DISMAN! , you can go all out and scream DISMAN, DUH!
I think it would be really cool if Dismandurr and Machug were a pair of natural enemy pokemon like Zangoose and Seviper, because of the whole strongman aesthetic of both, along with the boulder of Dismandurr and the gut of Machug being the rocks they carry to show off their strength.
What if they had a gym bro dynamic goin on
well they can be!!!Dismandurr's wreckingball can be Machugs choice as atlas stones...Thus, they quarrel for it...🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Man, I was NOT prepared for Dismandurr but it's definitely my favorite of the bunch. The more comedic nature of the name and concept really stands out amongst the other edgier designs introduced.
Side note, I kinda feel like the Ability name "Infanticide" might be a bit _too_ edgy. Maybe changing it to something like "Prey on the Weak" or "Easy Pickings" would be more fitting while staying true to its intended maturity level.
who's got good ideas? "DISMAN!"
Easy pickings fits pokemon more.
That might motivate Ash to get evolving XD JK JK.
But does Dangal look good to you?
I like "Easy Pickings" as well. "Infanticide" is great, but it's not something Game Freak would approve of (as a name).
So at best, 2 explosions, and at worse, someone has a sandstorm out.
or just give it old boom mechanics as an ability, priority doesn’t matter if they just switch to their spin blocker

Only criticism i would have is that
1) Except Dangal, none of them have new typing, if feels a bit like a missed opportunity (Boombrocks could have been rock/normal)
2) The gut on Machug doesn't feel like it connects to it's body, and if we see it as an atlas weight, that makes two fighting type pokemons that carry big spheres in the same region
A rare variant where dismander carries machug instead of an atlas weight. Sort of like cramorant and pikachu.
@@psychopath682 Machug and Dismandr are a comedy duo like Ludicolo and Loudred in some of the movies. Just 2 buff dudes showing up to lift larger and larger things.
At least that's my understanding, let me know what you think of it!
very interesting
Omg can you apply to Nintendo
There a theory that said the reason pokemon evolve by trading is because they think that they trainer is disappointed with them that they became stronger so the new trainer will be happy with them
Specifically makes sense in the context of Phantump and Trevenant. It _is_ a dead kid after all.
I usually think of trade evos as "link mutations", but i imagine phantump specifically evolves when they loose hope of being seen as human

Dangal’s signature ability is super cool, I like the idea of a tank buster Pokemon that counters the Eviolite tanks like Chancey and Dusclops
That’s what I was thinking. Maybe an additional aspect to the ability would be to ignore the defense buffs the Eviolite provides on top of the extra damage. PUNISH THEM for using such cheap stalling tactics!
I get it, but like, why not just use knock off?
Maybe you can make it so that you don’t even need Knock Off which benefit a Pokémon that wants to always attack?
Okay okay, but Dangal. If Dangal was a real pokemon it would actually be my favorite. Gengar is my current favorite, but Dangal has some Gliscor and Impidimp vibes to it, which I absolutely love, so adding the vibes of Gengar, Gliscor and Impidimp just makes my dream pokemon

I think that there should be a Steel type move that causes the Poison status.. you know, rust and all that
here are some ideas:
electric move with a burn chance (20%)
Dark move with a paralysis chance (30%)
Dragon move with a burn chance (30%)
Water move with a sleep chance (10%)
Ice move with a burn chance (20%)

Honestly, I like to imagine Canopriest, like Trevevant, is actually fairly benevolent. Like it can commonly be found around sites of evil or dangerous spirits... because it is trying to cleanse the evil using its spiritual abilities.
It tries to drive people away from the sites it protects for their own safety, but often ends up terrifying or even hurting them on accident.

I APPROVE OF THIS.
It should also be natural enemies with Goregooz, since Canopriest has kind of an eyepatch over its right eye, like it got torn out by a Goregooz
Yes, also it should also have a chance to poison because poisonous fruit
This could be a whole type: Holy Type
Super effective against: Dark, Ghost, Fairy, Dragon, (for reasons mentioned)
Weak against: Bug (unclean), Grass (power of nature), Steel (holy wars and technology), Dark (can be corrupted)
Resists: Water (enjoys being cleansed), Psychic (strong-willed)
Resisted by: Electric (either divine or modern), Bug (unclean)
Immune to: Holy
I feel like this would make it WAY too overpowered. A STAB move that does super effective damage to 7 types. That's absolutely wild
I could totally see Heavy as a Fighting type gym leader, with Dismandurr as his signature Pokemon and having it hold Leftovers as its item.

It really fits with canopriest.
Canopriest could easily be a Galarian form

Cant wait for "Item Evolution Pokemon" alternatives!
I think the intro says that the item trades will stay the same
I think the trade evos that use items should still get redesigns.
Scyther actually already has an official non trade evolution; Kleavor! Instead of Steel he becomes Rock. He's ugly but cool.
@@Poison_Paradise sure but he doesn't use the metal coat plus you could always just skip scyther as hes mostly a special case.
@@pokeballz9593 Yeah true; or Lockstin and Co. could just make another non-trade Scyther evo because Scyther is so cool he deserves even more love lol
@@Poison_Paradise Didn't they state in the video though that they found a way to evolve the pokemon with items naturally or without trading them?
Alternatively, it would be interesting to see what evolutions they would have if they didn't have specific items given to them, as both of Scyther's evolutions are item-based and change up the design greatly. I guess to some degree you could take the stance of 'if the design isn't broken then don't fix it' with Scyther since it already has such a cool design, but with it having two evolutions that drastically change it, it would be nice to give a proper scythe evolution rather than swapping out for a different weapons that sacrifice speed for more power and defense.
Canopriest is such a good design, easily my favorite, if this ever gets made into a fan game I’m definitely grabbing one
Quick theory about manga Mewtwo’s spoon. Perhaps it simply manifested the spoon from psychic energy or shaped it out of a remnant of a destroyed construct to compensate for close-range combat and focus its growing and increasingly realized abilities
@willow Ok

Machug as a strong-fat strongman is an amazing concept! Only issue i have with it is his manly gut really looks disjointed from the rest of the body. Almost like he's carrying a giant egg. Inb4 theory about it's secret connection to the Chansey family
This was a lot of fun, Machug is now a new favorite to me!
I must say: except shelmet/carrablast, the later gen ones to me, from a design standpoint, look a lot more like alternative evos in the sense of, the official evos continue the concept, and these take it to a turn (unavoidable when making new evos for existing lines, obviously); but to me, some of them almost look like the official evo should be non-trade and these new ones would be split evos activated when trading, as they're a bit too different from the previous stage
Even so, my favourite was Machug, with Dangal and Canopriest close behind!!

It’s ironic since many Pokemon revolution fanfics have the Pokemon turn on humanity due to mistreatment.

@@adam.n-steve That's literally what I stated. Team Plasma's plan to separate Pokemon and Humans would've just angered the Pokemon into revolution.
For Goregooz I think it could be like Tandemous to maushold, after reaching a certain level it has a chance to evolve
I like these
Absolutely excellent evolutions! Really has me wondering what you might do with other pokemon whose normal evolution methods kinda disappeared. Climate change could easily result in a crisis where Shelder go nearly extinct and Slowpoke has to find a new way to evolve, for example.
Speaking of Slowpoke, I'd also be interested in seeing other pairings that would trigger an evolution. 🤔
Wow, the man himself liked my comment. Thanks, Locke! Hope my fan region can be half as detailed and popular as yours one day.

5:21 I'm french and i can tell you, we do NOT say "Lonce" we say "Lance", although the pronunciation is in between .
Every time a Dismandur and Machug meet, it’s that scene from Full Metal Alchemist of the two strong men clasping hands and becoming best friends
23:52 Why does it look cute?
Seriously, explain this to me, my brain is telling me it's cute
"Infanticide deals bonus damage to non-fully-evolved Pokemon."
Duraludon: *chuckles* I'm in danger.
@@scary-sounds Legends Arceus actually did something similar by having the Linking Cord as an evolution item.
Maybe that’s why you can find wild trade evos in Galar. They’re just out in the fields chilling, and they’re loving life enough that they evolved.
Dam the abra line just can't catch a break lmao
The fact so many symbols are now Taboo just because of one group of people sucks
Because if anyone recognizes it as possibly being connected to them, it leads to outrage
@@KrissyBlues I think Parting Shot or Night Slash have a more intense name in Japanese
