I’d just like to say that in every single retelling of the birth of the Cyclopes I’ve heard, they were children of the Earth (Gaea) and Sky (Uranus/Ouranos), but every now and again, Poseidon has a child that is a cyclops
You didn’t exactly go into regigeists purpose or method of assistance, so imma just whip one up and see how you like it: regigeist was not created to move mountains or re-arrange land, but to move those that lived in it. Driving them away with curses and hauntings so the land was able to be moved without harming anyone. It’s ghostly form being perfect for tracking down and finding other life forms to let regigigas know it has to wait a bit before beginning it’s work.
Headcanon about Reginger: Regigas was trying to bake cookies for Regigrim to cheer it up, but accidentally made Reginger, but Reginger and Regigrim just so happened to get along great anyways, so it sorta worked out in the end.
I love reginger Especially the "regigigas wasn't trying to make a golem... it was just making cookies and forgot the fairy type suddenly existed!" I like to think arceus just randomly decided one day to make a new type... and it just so happened while Regigigas was baking cookies for the different golems.... he even made one in the shape of a golem to be fun and then suddenly IT'S ALIVE AND RUNNING AROUND!
I like how these ideas are so original to all other designs. Like, anyone would think to just make the fighting type regi out of pure muscle, but making out of cloth is so cooler that I have to say hats off to you sir!
Personally, i had a theory that spiritomb is regigigas' attempt at making a ghost type 1. The ghost girl only mentions a "traveler" who stuck them all in a keystone, regigigas who's constantly pulling around landmasses certainly counts 2. We have precedence of regigigas starting with a head but running out of materials. Maybe he just ran out of souls or the keystone broke before he could finish it 3. It even kind of looks like a regi with all the circles and concentric lines on the keystone 4. It always seemed weird that of all the legendaries, the regi's are the ones locked away. Not yveltal or the forces of nature, specifically these ones are locked up in manmafe temples. Well, if you saw a giant monster ripping out souls and feeding them to a screaming face monster, you would probably lock it away too
The thing with Xerneas and Yveltal is that you can't truly seal them away, if you weaken them or try to kill them they'll degrade into their cocoon/tree forms, to reawaken at full power after some time.
Most legends are made by Arceus and ate tied to nature. The Regis are made by regigigas and were feared, especially in Regieleki's case. It's unstable electricity given sentience and the people of Galar put the rings on its body to help control its energy. However it was still destructive and was sealed away.
@@tanandalynch9441 We actually don't know which Pokémon were made by Arceus and which weren't; other than Dialga, Palkia, Giratina and the Lake Trio. Some such as the super-ancient Pokémon (Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza) are stated in Hoenn myths to have been formed naturally, due to the immense amounts of energy the Region possessed in ancient times.
Counter-theory: Spiritomb was made of the rejected souls. Like considering the Regis are all pure mono-typed, Regigigas would reject any evil spirits and only collect souls of the pure for "Regigeist", hence why Spiritomb, the rejected ones, are dual ghost dark
To fit the theme of time periods, Regireef could represent the cambrian explosion, Regiwood could represent pangea, and Regimind could represent the space age. Edit: so some people in the replies had some good ideas so I'll put the ones I like here. regihive could represent the carboniferous era, regipyre could represent the industrial revolution, and regichi represents the age of prosperity in asia from the spice trade. regiwind could represent the age of exploration aka pirates and sailors and colonizers. regiginger could represent the renaissance since the renaissance had a lot of art and fiction being created.
Regipyre could be the early early earth, when it was still cooling down. Regiwind is difficult, but I would imagine that being the time period when the atmosphere began to clear out from being only smoke and dust. Regichi is just the silk road Era, the Era of trade when the southern part of Asia bloomed with prosperity. Regihive is difficult, was there a time when insects took over? Idk, maybe during the time most amber fossils come from? Since most of the amber fossils are insects?
@@sanscipher435 Regiwind can really just be any period in history before the meteor struck and permanently altered the atmosphere. There was WAY more oxygen in the air back then. How else could the dinosaurs have gotten so big?
Of course Giovanni is still alive, a man who's traveled to different timeline or dimensions wouldn't be dead, but the fact that he is alive and not kicking his feet back in another dimension/timeline says a lot about this neo concept unless this is a different Giovanni who didn't form rainbow rocket Edit: Never mind I just saw the end
I'm pretty sure Rainbow Rocket Giovanni is from a timeline where Red didn't successfully take out Team Rocket, so he's actually a different guy than OG Giovanni. I think Cyborg Giovanni is just OG Giovanni but way older.
Lore idea: Reginger originally had the same eye pattern as regigrimm, having shaped ears similar to cat ears to be more appealing to children, using it's lolipop as a sort of pogo stick, however one day when it was jumping around having fun, it flipped over, and couldn't get up, therefore, it has adapted to no longer use it's ears at all, now only hearing through sound waves, it's hearing isn't all that great. It seems its whole purpose in life is to satisfy and cheer up those in need, that is how it turned a moment of grief that was losing the ability to hear into a new way to cheer up kids, it styled its once legs into a hat, and put a moustache on it. Stupid idea for a stupid Pokemon, it's great!
@@tymongajewski2816 i feel like that's what hearing is, maybe it can't truly hear but instead detect the feelings of the children based on the pitch of their voice? (back to sound waves :P)
Okay, Reginger is actually amazing. The Gingerbread Man is basically just a golem anyways! Even if it is a joke, I like to imagine Regigigas crafting Reginger during a time of pure joy and glee, and Reginger is likely still the essence of those times when Regigigas took a break to have fun…
I could imagine Reginger to constantly do whatever to can to get noticed by Regigigas and Regigrimm especially regigrimm because it just ignores it completly or dosent react due to all the pain and numbness it has.... tho if done in a movie or anime i could see Regiginger finally getting to the big sad golem XD
@@theartisticvampire2598 Yes that would be cool, I also had an idea where Reginger runs to village to village to simply troll everyone so the Regis have to get it back to Regigigas before it gets captured
Perhaps when creating a golem to 'absorb' suffering didn't work, it created one to combat it by spreading joy. I remember a quote from Sir Terry's Pratchett's Discworld. Fairy tales don't teach children that monsters are real, they already know THAT. Fairy tales teach children that monsters can be DEFEATED.
And to compliment Regigrimm! One embodies the suffering and despair of humanity, the darkness that exists in every corner of the world. Meanwhile, Reginger embodies lightness and joy, even playful mischief, a way to revel in the brevity of humanity. They balance each other well! One to remind everyone of the darkness, even though Regigrimm does mean well, and Reginger to remind everyone of the light, and like Yin and Yang, you can’t have one without the other. Big brother and little brother. Contrast yet complement.
I think this is the first set of regi’s that actually had original concepts, origins, and designs. I love that they each kept to a general body shape (minus Pyre and Wind, but they get excusable passes), and had genuine reasons for their existence, rather than just being a thing that suddenly appeared
I agree completely, regi’s of every type is a concept that’s been done so many times and while a lot of the designs are awesome they’re also frequently redundant and just repeats of the same thing. So many fighting type regi designs are just meat golems and even if the art is cool it’s still kinda gross and very unlikely to be something Gamefreak would put in a Pokémon game, a fighting regi made of silks blew my mind just by being something so new, I don’t think anyone else has thought it that before. Then having that followed up by a wooden training dummy grass type regi design was so creative and cool, the amount of uniqueness and individuality in these designs far exceeded my expectations.
I tried making my own Regis once. I had the poison type Regiatom to represent the nuclear age that had the ability fallout: which was like anti-leftovers for every Pokémon on the field. It was effectively a neon green “fat man” with blade-like arms and its eyes in the shape of the radiation symbol (two dots for each curve and the seventh dot in the centre). I also had Regicosmos to represent the space age, a strange rocket-shaped construct that was off by Regigigas to retrieve data from the universe. Now it has returned, and no one is quite sure why. It’s dots were a straight line down its fuselage like the seven chakras.
Damn thats crazy cause when I was trying to make my own regis a few years back, I also came up with regis based around those concepts too. Although I also had a fire regi(representing when earth was first formed and it was just all molten rock) it was just a big ball of magma, a water regi(to represent the some first forms of multiecellular life, sea life) it was a block of coral and water in the shape of an ancient sea animal, a grass regi(for when plants began to florish throughout the land) it was a basic wood golem but it was covered in flowers and huge leaves, a ground regi that looked like a trex but made of mud (to represent when all the dinosaurs roamed the earth), and the final one was a fighting regi a homunculus (to represent when humans emerged )
If you were to ever fully flesh-out a game with these, it would be really interesting to see Regimind being a driving force in the story by psychically communicating with the player throughout the game.
_" 'To protect the world from devastation...' I finally understand what _*_the two of you_*_ were saying all those years ago."_ - Neo Giovanni, probably
A note: Most of the regis are actually really small all things considered, I am taller than Regice, Regirock, and Regieleki (who is 3'11" btw), very close to the same size as Registeel, and Regidrago is 6'11''. Gigas is obviously the exception, but its funny to think about how I'm probably taller than most of these concepts and that Reginger is probably small enough to fit in my hand considering it has to be smaller than Eleki
Regidust's ability should have been like Eiscue's Ice Face, except when the bone armor breaks, it gains a lot more speed. It regenerates the armor in sandstorms.
I find it interesting how Giovanni doesn't quite seem to be a bad guy. I mean based on his dialogue in pokemon masters and his giving up team rocket, maybe he did take a turn for good? Or at least neutrality. Gotta protect home after all
he's just more intelligent about it. Just because your evil doesn't mean your stupid about things. He knows their are consequences, he knows people don't like what he does. That's why he manipulates those he can. He almost seems good because he does still have morals, and understands that he needs to have limits, and if he doesn't want to be completely hunted down, he can't give them a good enough reason to go crazy about taking him down.
Well there are two Giovanni out there The one that Res defeated in Viridian City that disbanded team rocket and turned a new leaf And the Rainbow Rocket Giovanni that didn’t learn shite
He just wants to make money; can't do that if the world is gone because the world is where he keeps his stuff. Compared to the other evil teams who are ending the world, suddenly the pokemafia seem a lot less evil.
I like these Regis even more than the original ones! They each have their unique personalities, which I feel like the og trio was really lacking. Even the scarier ones have appealing points to them, like Regigeist having the silly hat and little hops and poor Regigrim needing a hug. Instead of using just types of energy to form them, you used some really unique concepts! Reginger and Regigrim are two of my favorites
I do really like the unique turns we got Regipyre having that greek wheel instead of being just fire They could have made regiwood a tree golem but they made him into a training dummy to be more special Regichi made out of silk while most people would joke and make a fighting regi a buff dude And regimind being made of imagination is amazing
The old regi’s aren’t supposed to have personality. They are supposed to be soldiers who protect several region. Their concept is amazing. These other Regi’s are great too though
Regipyre can be even be attributed to Judeo-Christian iconography, such as biblical descriptions of angels, and even the flaming chariot that took the prophet Elijah/Elias to Heaven.
Ok Can I just say how much I ADORE Reginger? Like it’s a fairy type, my favorite, and it’s got pastel colors. Plus, it’s a golem. One of the COOLEST CREATURES EVER. Also, it shares that aspect of “Im fast as fucc, boy!” with Pyre, another AWESOME one. EVEN BETTER is the fact that it’s a golem made of candy. This thing is gonna run circles around you, and then show you why they say “sweet dreams”. Plus, it basically IS the move taunt. 10/10 I want one
When Lockstin started talking about Regimind and asked a question "How you make a Regi out of psychic energy?" I remembered Archons from Starcraft. Creatures mostly made out of psychic energy of two protoss Templars, who merged together
Yeah. Its loose body would allow it to bend around attacks to avoid them, then it’d tighten the arm cloths to deliver a devastating blow. It could be seen as the “float like a butterfly, sting like a bee” motif.
Since we recently got some new Regis after all these years, I can definitely see GameFreak adding more into the family of golems and possibly one of every type
If Reginger is to have an actual place in the story’s lore, I would imagine that it was created similarly to Regigrimm, but instead of sorrow it used joy instead, assumingly made to counteract Regigrimm?
I truly adore these designs, the variety of body types makes them infinitely more interesting than almost all other fan-Regis Although I do miss the Time Period influences that the original five had
A lot of them, being based on history, can still be applied to the time period thing, e.g. Regichi to the height of the silk road, Regidust to the time of the Aztecs, Mayans, and Incans, etc.
Cyborg Giovanni is very interesting, I wonder who this “madman” he’s talking about is. Perhaps it’s Lysander but given it’s called Legends Ghetsis I wouldn’t be surprised if Ghetsis tried using the ultimate weapon to make himself immortal like AZ.
Well, AZ does seem to be the most likely candidate for the madman. He's probably the only person not in prison that knows how it works, and for a game based on the future, the immortal character should play a significant role.
Regigrimm is BY FAR the absolute best designed, best idea, best Regi Borge fictional and existent!! Out of all the Regies it’s my favorite and the best entry, background just best all around and over all!! In every category!! 😂😂😍😍😍
Reginger actually almost fits lol Like, my take on reginger is regigigas looking at humanity after regigrim and trying to cheer em up instead of removing sorrow by making a regi from like, sugar and honey and other sweet things
@@braydeslaurier5960 these were the ingredients chosen to create the perfect little cookies. But professor Regigigas accidentally added an extra ingredient to the concoction - Chemical X* And thus, Reginger was born! Using its ultra-sticky arms, it has dedicated its life to spreading cheer and getting into goofy hijinks! *X as in Xerneas, the life granting legendary
And can you imagine what you could do with his ability? Regigigas returning to his prime, perfectly justifies his very well known ability taking a complete 180° turn. "Slow Start" changes to "Burst Boot" (Or something like that, there's gotta be a better name). The Pokémon has it's attack and speed stats BOOSTED by x1.5 for the first 3 turns it is on the field, counting switch ins/outs. I wonder what that could do to the competitive scene...
I love how with both Regiasma and Regigrimm you can barely hear their names in their cries, you can make out a bit of "Regi" in Regiasma but aside from that, it's all just nightmarish screaming. If that was just Lockstin with some filters then bravo! Also idea for Reginger: After Regigigus scared off people with other giants, he tried to make a golem out of things people liked, so while everyone had their back turned, Regigigus would steal certain sweet treats from locals to make his next Golam, thus Reginger was born. And everone got angered by it.
I could see the psychic types signature move changing to be supper effective against the targets primary type. A move that's always suppereffective sounds very broken, and picking a pokemon to fight it that's secondary typing covers for it against this move could be a cool gameplay aspect of the bossfight against it (assuming there is a bossfight against it, idk how this game would work to be honest)
I could easily see Regigigas trying to make sweets in an attempt to cheer up Regigrim, only for Reginger to spontaneously pops into existence screaming "PAPA!"
I have to say that this has to be the best regi designs and concepts I've ever seen. Regireef with it being a great way to make a water regi without being too similar to Regice, Regidust with it's super cool look and concept, Regimind with it's incrediable idea of a signature move and ablity, and Regigrimm with it's creepy look and sad story.
i think making Reginger's lower their accuracy when their hit would be another really good one, add on to that it's loves to use double team and it's the signature move sweet surprise, which causes one random status effect which changes each turn and you have a perfect trickster.
Somehow, Regigrim and Regiginger are my favorites. The most dramatic, and the most ridiculous. Also, I really want the full story of that Team Rocket Ultimate Weapon thing. And more about Purreshiss.
the dark ages are a bit more complicated, since originally the collapse of the roman empire and basically all that power and stability did a lot of the damage for the priests- hence why eastern Europe was less effected. it still had its chunk of rome, or in the case of the Muslim world, its states were simply more powerful and able to fund bigger and better projects and science (similar to china.) the reason the church was so powerful was that, originally, it was the only authority with like any legitimacy, and then it was simply tradition. it's also worth noting that DARK AGE specifically means the period immediately following the collapse of rome up until about 1066/the high middle ages. it's actually only after that we see the blind reactionary bull that Lockstin mentions here. so while i love regigrimm, it is a bit more complicated than the video depicts. which i understand is the nature of the medium, i just know and love history so i wanted to elaborate a little bit. personally my favorite is regireef
Yes, thank you! Also, the bit about there being "little to no progress" with regard to technology or philosophy is _also_ false. With regards to philosophy, for instance: yes, much of it was Theological, but much of it was also Secular, and while a lot of it was brought over from Eastern Rome/Byzantium and the Muslim world, Christendom did a pretty good job of expanding on what came before. So, while not quite close to the Glory of Rome, it certainly wasn't as bad, though when you're comparing what is/was to what came before, it's pretty easy to see the latter as a Golden Age, and thus the former as a "Dark Age", right?
Still he’s not wrong about one thing. Religious groups should not run the world, having crazy wack jobs run the world again sounds like we’d just have a second crusade (at least I hope I’m remembering the right historical event, it’s the one where (to put it simply) Christians murdered Jews for no good reason)
Blue over at Overly Sarcastic Productions has done several really good videos talking about the cultural, scientific and philosophical developments that were taking place in the Byzantine Empire, Muslim Caliphates, East Asiaand even parts of Western Europe during the “Dark Ages”, which has greatly helped to dispel the myth that there was no progress happening during this time.
@@Altarahhn even then it depends. while it was a dark age for, say, the latins and celts that had dominated roman-era europe, i would argue it was a golden age of germanic culture and power (this was the time when the HRE lived up to its name, for example,) even through the Christianization of Scandinavia. as they interacted with Europe as a whole their mythologies and aesthetics became much more common and recognizable, in a way that they simply weren't. but yeah, it sucked if you were in Britian, Spain, or even Gaul. italy was taken over quickly enough and remained connected enough with the East that their cultural dark age came later than the rest of the former empire. basically early medieval history is complicated- so honestly i dont blame lockstin for his simplification.
Since surprisingly no one in this comment section has made a list of all the cool Regi cries here it is! Regireef : 4:20 , 4:37 or 4:38 Regiwind : 5:50 Regipyre : No Regicry but lots of motor sounds Regigiest : 9:45 or 9:46 Regichi : 10:52 or 10:53 Regiwood : 12:35 Regidust : 14:31 or 14:32 Regihive : No Regicry. Would have sound so cool too since it's the bug type Regi Regimind : 18:05 or 18:06 Regiasma : 20:01 or 20:02 Regigrim : 22:48 or 22:49 Reginger : 23:28 or 23:29
The only issue I have with this, is that there's a huge misconception about the dark ages. Technological and philosophical progress did not stop at all, and the 'dark ages' weren't all that dark. Overly Sarcastic Productions has a great video on It I highly suggest everyone check out.
5:03 In some versions of the Greek myths, Pegasus was the offspring of Medusa. I actually learned this while researching the Rider version of Medusa in the Fate franchise, wondering why her Noble Phantasam attack in FGO involved riding Pegasus.
@@inspecterspook I think Lockstin referred to the fact that Poseidon fathered the cyclops (the barbarian ones, not the ancient ones). Still a stretch, though.
I like to think that you'd find regimind in plain sight, and it's somewhat like waiting for certain things to happen after you complete a post game event, and in a huge city maybe a soda machine shows up that wouldnt normally be there if you paid close attention, or maybe it's a lamppost that's a touch taller that the others
It’d be cool if it was in front of the professor’s lab right before they give a side quest to find the Regis. Like a lamp that’s blocking the door. It flees like the kanto birds did in X and Y but around the town the professor is in until it gets cornered in a back alley or something like that.
So here's my theory. If Regigigas made all Regis during a specific age, maybe each type was created by Regigigas itself when creating a regi. This could also explain why all fossils are rock types, since they come from the stone age (as in, the first canonical age and therefore rock type being the only type that existed back then)
I feel like a better idea for reginger, would be that regigigas tried to create something to keep regigrimm in a "good" mood, to prevent it from lashing out at people
9:26 I've seen those tailsmans in Japanese media where sometimes they're also used to _control_ zombies and other spirit creatures. And then there's Mei-Ling from Darkstalkers, who apparently just kind of turns into one to match Hsien-Ko's Jiang Shi-inspired aesthetic.
Small correction, the dark ages were not actually that bad for most of the individuals living in it. Dark ages was largely a retrospective title given by the people who mostly just wished Greek philosophy and art had stuck around. Tons of innovations actually occurred during the dark ages, particularly notable is the windmill. These things largely only happened because the entire slave trade of the Roman empire had collapsed so people needed more efficient solutions to do things rather than just throwing slaves they didn’t care about at it. In philosophy Christian humanism was a huge thing, basically what actually laid the groundwork for enlightenment ideology. Etc.
I named my Mismagius in Legends Arceus "Miasma" and didn't realize it was actually a word. I mostly just took letters from Mismagius and rearranged them to make Miasma. Also, Regigrimm looks a lot like Darkrai.
Regieleki and Regidrago are supposed to represent the Age of Enlightenment(The age where man mastered the use of electricity) and The Medieval Ages(Where the myth of the dragon really took off). EDIT: Kinda funny how given the tone of voice he had, it seems that the not to sure about believing the regi theory, but he wholeheartedly believes the Starter theories, even tho the former actually held water
@@ChespinCraft Either works, They both fit the bill so it doesn’t matter. I mentioned the Age of enlightenment makes more sense given what Galar is based on.
"Grim Type" unironically is friggin amazing for what the type is Literally everything about the type is about things you could call "grim", like violence or severe negative emotion, and personalities and malice you wouldnt be surprised to see reading one of the old Grimm's Fairy Tales
4:32 Not exactly. Poseidon fathered most Cyclopes, such as the famed Polyphemus, but their original creator is Gaia, who gave birth to Brontes, Arges and Steropes-the first, “Elder” Cyclopes
I have a suggestion, it would be cool if Regimind had a cry similar to dolphin clicking and whistling. I think the sounds would give an inhuman but organic feel to the mon’s intelligence , and would call back to the more robotic sounding cries that the original regis are known for.
This was a great video! Just one nitpick tho. The dark ages weren’t all that bad (relatively speaking), people weren’t struggling as badly as some would say, there was plenty of technological innovation. There are videos that can explain it better then me, but I just wanted to mention that.
@@astranix0198 the concept isn't the issue, the issue is that Lockstin said some outright offensive things in his explanation. I'm left-leaning myself, but reducing things down to "don't let Christianity run everything" is a gross oversimplification, and doesn't actually consider most of the issues at play. The United States were conceived as a Christian nation, with Christian ideals baked into the constitution. Several founding fathers believed only a man who feared God could be a good president. And it was a thoroughly Christian movement that abolished the slave trade, too. The Dark Ages were a combination of factors, and while the Catholic church's stranglehold on intellectualism was a part of it, it was far from the only factor.
I do enjoy these designs, the moves, the lore, etc. It's all fantastic. Which is unfortunate, because GameFreak can not use these specific designs now. We *could* still get Regis of each type in the future, but they won't be specifically these designs, which is unfortunate.
I've always wondered about what would happen. Would they look and see if there were fake mons that were like what they were making? Would they even pay attention to such things?
They could pay Lockstin a ton of money to use his idea. So, it's not out of the question. I'm sure Game freak got some of their ideas from him. If they run out of game ideas, they could pay for the rights of the fan games.
Regihive and Regireef are my favorites. Love the hive mind thing for the bees, and how Regireef's face looks like not just a cyclops eye, but also an atoll, where you would find reefs
I can't wait to see where this goes, seeing as you've hinted where this timeline started going haywire. Having the ultimate weapon fired, probably by team flare, would definitely cause the Pokémon to go somewhat abnormal to say the very least. Out of curiosity, will you be adding the Pokémon adventures protagonists to the timeline, as that series was always edgier than the other material. Having the offspring of the pokedex holders running around would be interesting, especially the x and y protagonists who would probably feel huge amounts of shame due to the ancestors failing.
I would love to see some more What If Pokemon. An example of what if GF went the other route with their Pikaclones and instead of making them all electric types they went with what they did with Marill.
I've always wanted Vespiquen to have a move that calls Combee to the battle much like how the SOS system from SuMo worked. Regihive could do something similar with its Regidrones (not a new Pokémon, but considered a form of Regihive). Each one would take up a slot in the battle much like horde battles from X&Y, meaning that you can only ever have a max of 5 Pokémon at a time (1 Regihive and 4 Regidrones). Calling these drones would effectively give you additional attacks on your later turns, allowing for great snowballing potential in a rather unique way, but with some caveats for balance. They would know all the same moves as your Regihive, but also all share the same PP pool. Their base stats would be high in Speed, have decent attack stats, but be utterly lacking in defense. A single Heat Wave could easily KO a growing swarm. On the flip side, moves like Fury Cutter count each Regidrone and their Regihive as being the same Pokémon, allowing you to quickly cap the damage potential on it. Just some food for thought.
One thing I'd like to add is that it would be really cool to have Regiwood's spin counter ability roll for evasion, so that an opponent who has truly mastered the fighting arts (or just spammed double team) can cause, predict, react to or otherwise dodge the dummy's counter attacks using their sheer skill (or dumb luck) alone. Basically the spin counter can miss or be dodged/avoided.
I cant help but feel like all the Regis in this video would be incredible boss battles in an action-rpg style game, where you go around and fight 1 or 2 of them at a time depending on their theming (like Regichi and Regiwood together). You could even use ride pokemon to help maneuver to them, like a Lapras boat battle against Regireef or flying on a Swellow to fight Regiwind. Not sure if you already had something like that in mind but its cool to imagine nonetheless
for Regichi I could imagine instead of being in a pokeball his trainer can ware him like a hat and cape so if there ever muged of there pokemon he just unwraps himself from his trainer to defend and protect them, kinda like that one business suit like stand from jojos bizarre adventures.
I love the designs of Regireef and Regidust. A water/coral golem and a golem made of bones both sound really cool, I wish they were also available in modern Pokemon games! They could be friends with my favorite Regi: Regidrago! 🐉
Well a homunculus (What Father from FMA is) is a creature in a flask in most cases, a small person basically. Being a product of alchemy a pseudoscientific version of chemistry, poison which is very much chemistry would be a fitting connection even if not intentional
So the slander against the dark ages was uncalled for. If we're counting the roughly 1000-year period from the fall of Rome in 476 to the widespread use of the printing press beginning in 1450, there was plenty of rich contributions to culture across Europe and the Mediterranean.
it's not that nothing was accomplished during the Dark Ages, and personally I don't blame the poor quality of life on Christianity, I think the nobles were to blame, inheriting everything they could need left them as people incapable of ruling properly. At least that's the way I see it.
These forms are great!! Though I would think it would make more sense for Apathy as an ability to resist status moves related to the mind, such as Infatuation, Confusion, Sleep, or certain moves/abilities that are based off of emotion, like Intimidate, any move that causes Flinch, or being Taunted / Tormented. After all, it wouldn’t care if these moves were thrown it’s way anyways.
Regichi is really cool! I never would've thought of that. I love how loose it is. I've had ideas for cloth regis, but normally, like, a doll or something. Or like, a whopping sock. For delivering whoppings. It's full of teeth. Because that makes the sock whop. And it's convenient because when you whop someone with it you get more teeth with which to whop. I also had an idea for a Regi made of bones, but mine was a ghost type. I guess ground would make more sense with Pokémon's typing conventions though. also i hate to be that guy but. coral isn't real. it's an animal. which aren't real.
@@lasagna3289 couldn’t you use the same argument for plants though? Plants are alive after all and we still see grass, trees, etc. despite their being grass type Pokémon like Sunflora
You are incorrect about the dark ages 1. It was called as such for 2 main reasons, to represent it as a counter to the later “age of enlightenment” and also because it’s the age directly after the fall of the Roman Empire, and scholars during the Renaissance thought Rome was the coolest thing ever, and had a natural bias against everything afterward 2. The dark ages were not a time of scientific stagnation, Even ignoring the fact that the term “dark ages” only applies to Europe and Asia and the Middle East had plenty of advancement during that time, even Europe wasn’t completely stagnant, it’s just that most of the progress made in that time was agricultural in nature instead of technological

Regimind is almost certainly my favourite, but I was shocked by how much you nailed Regireef and Regidust (dust was a huge surprise, love the intimidating weirdness of it).
These were incredible! So many different types of lore representing each of them, I never would've come up with these myself. You're incredibly gifted. And I Definitely loved the anime/robotic cries you gave each of them. Mt favorite was the fighting-type Regi
I love seeing these ideas. It’s really cool seeing people put a new spin on already established concepts like this. Quite literally, in regipyre’s case.
A couple things: First, regarding Regiwind, when you were describing the cloud-esque wings, I immediately thought of “and a dash of cumulus” from when Zeus was creating Pegasus in the Disney movie, and then you showed a picture of Zeus! Second, regarding Regidust, maybe the voice could be a bit more…raspy? You know, “dry as dust”?
11:20 I thought it would be cool for Regichi to have a unique ability that changes all Special Attacks into Physical Attack, or the opposite, depending on which Attack stat is chosen.
So basically giving every attacking move the effect of photon geyser or shell side arm? That’s super cool, and it could be really useful, especially for a fighting type who may want to run a special attacking set without having to rely on unreliable moves like focus blast and instead being able to spam a special version of close combat.
@Ace of spades Even better, a special attacker could spam Superpower (which drops attack and defense) but it only has to worry about the defense drops. Sounds...kinda broken. I love it!

Fan projects will almost always be better than the canon because at this point the fan projects are made with more love than the official stuff
The idea that Regigigas dreamed himself up a friend is adorable, and I love it
Personally, i had a theory that spiritomb is regigigas' attempt at making a ghost type
1. The ghost girl only mentions a "traveler" who stuck them all in a keystone, regigigas who's constantly pulling around landmasses certainly counts
2. We have precedence of regigigas starting with a head but running out of materials. Maybe he just ran out of souls or the keystone broke before he could finish it
3. It even kind of looks like a regi with all the circles and concentric lines on the keystone
4. It always seemed weird that of all the legendaries, the regi's are the ones locked away. Not yveltal or the forces of nature, specifically these ones are locked up in manmafe temples. Well, if you saw a giant monster ripping out souls and feeding them to a screaming face monster, you would probably lock it away too
Almost made it 70. My bad. :)
@@sanscipher435 or regipyre could just be the time when monster trucks became a thing, and regigigas wants in on the fun.

This could be a Giovanni that was stopped by Red before, or Rainbow Rocket Giovanni got stuck in that dimension when the Calamity struck.
I'm pretty sure Rainbow Rocket Giovanni is from a timeline where Red didn't successfully take out Team Rocket, so he's actually a different guy than OG Giovanni. I think Cyborg Giovanni is just OG Giovanni but way older.

Lore idea:
Reginger originally had the same eye pattern as regigrimm, having shaped ears similar to cat ears to be more appealing to children, using it's lolipop as a sort of pogo stick, however one day when it was jumping around having fun, it flipped over, and couldn't get up, therefore, it has adapted to no longer use it's ears at all, now only hearing through sound waves, it's hearing isn't all that great.

The fact that regigigas made the grass type as an "oh crap I goofed" response just got me real good lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love that most of these were given their own unique cries, that couldn’t have been easy. I think my favorites were Regipyre, Regichi, and Reginger.
Where is the regipyro
@@dog4110 My bad, Regipyre.
wait, regipyre didn't have one though
@@billnye8760 The two sentences aren’t necessarily related. I meant more that they are my favorite of the Regis from this video.
One of my favorite of the cries and these Regis in general was regidust
That sounds amazing
RegiJet?
That’s awsome

I find it interesting how Giovanni doesn't quite seem to be a bad guy. I mean based on his dialogue in pokemon masters and his giving up team rocket, maybe he did take a turn for good? Or at least neutrality. Gotta protect home after all
In masters he still is pretty evil but I like to think that he'll have a change in heart eventually
he's just more intelligent about it.
Well there are two Giovanni out there
The one that Res defeated in Viridian City that disbanded team rocket and turned a new leaf
And the Rainbow Rocket Giovanni that didn’t learn shite

I would honestly more attribute it to the wheel of flames Zeus stuck a man to for trying to hit up with Hera post-marriage.

When I heard "Silk Regi," I thought "Oh that's smart for a Bug Regi!"
Then when I saw Regichi I thought "Oh snap that's awesome"
Yeah. Its loose body would allow it to bend around attacks to avoid them, then it’d tighten the arm cloths to deliver a devastating blow. It could be seen as the “float like a butterfly, sting like a bee” motif.
Same he kept on saying silk so i was like oh its bug. I was pleseantly surprised

When I first heard, I thought it would be normal type. You know, like a dumbass.
Since we recently got some new Regis after all these years, I can definitely see GameFreak adding more into the family of golems and possibly one of every type
Eventually. Sure. They’ll definitely drag their feet while doing so though. If Gamefreak wanted to, we’d probably have way more Eeveelutions.
Though i doubt we would have all types of either Eeveelutions or Regis i don't doubt we could get some more in the future
If Reginger is to have an actual place in the story’s lore, I would imagine that it was created similarly to Regigrimm, but instead of sorrow it used joy instead, assumingly made to counteract Regigrimm?
A better name for Regiwoods ability could be treposte (from tree and riposte, which is a type of sword fighting counter)
Commenting just so this comment gets attention
I LOVE this idea
The wordplay feels so fitting for Pokémon, actually “treposte” sounds so Pokémon that I’m shocked it’s not the name of a Pokémon yet.
I don’t think it would work for a Regi, but it would be cool for like a grass/steel renaissance construct!
Treposte sounds like a grass type version of whatever Armarouge/Ceruledge evolve from.
How dare this utter gold be buried
I truly adore these designs, the variety of body types makes them infinitely more interesting than almost all other fan-Regis
Although I do miss the Time Period influences that the original five had
A lot of them, being based on history, can still be applied to the time period thing, e.g. Regichi to the height of the silk road, Regidust to the time of the Aztecs, Mayans, and Incans, etc.
Cyborg Giovanni is very interesting, I wonder who this “madman” he’s talking about is. Perhaps it’s Lysander but given it’s called Legends Ghetsis I wouldn’t be surprised if Ghetsis tried using the ultimate weapon to make himself immortal like AZ.
Makes sense
Well, AZ does seem to be the most likely candidate for the madman. He's probably the only person not in prison that knows how it works, and for a game based on the future, the immortal character should play a significant role.

the dark ages are a bit more complicated, since originally the collapse of the roman empire and basically all that power and stability did a lot of the damage for the priests- hence why eastern Europe was less effected. it still had its chunk of rome, or in the case of the Muslim world, its states were simply more powerful and able to fund bigger and better projects and science (similar to china.) the reason the church was so powerful was that, originally, it was the only authority with like any legitimacy, and then it was simply tradition.
it's also worth noting that DARK AGE specifically means the period immediately following the collapse of rome up until about 1066/the high middle ages. it's actually only after that we see the blind reactionary bull that Lockstin mentions here. so while i love regigrimm, it is a bit more complicated than the video depicts. which i understand is the nature of the medium, i just know and love history so i wanted to elaborate a little bit.
personally my favorite is regireef
thank you for this comment

I adore Regichi's "chi chi chi chi! Regi!" He sounds so proud of what it is, its cool as heck
I like how Regiasma’s cry almost sounds like he’s trying to hold in snot by the end
Why did this comment make me feel obliged to try remake every regi cry with my mouth
i could see Regipyre's cry would be him saying the "pyre"of his name three times like a bike revving up
12:15 I'd say that a better name for this ability would be "Rotary Counter". Has a better ring to it, wouldn't it?
The only issue I have with this, is that there's a huge misconception about the dark ages. Technological and philosophical progress did not stop at all, and the 'dark ages' weren't all that dark. Overly Sarcastic Productions has a great video on It I highly suggest everyone check out.
5:03 In some versions of the Greek myths, Pegasus was the offspring of Medusa. I actually learned this while researching the Rider version of Medusa in the Fate franchise, wondering why her Noble Phantasam attack in FGO involved riding Pegasus.
Pegasus and Chrysaor sprang from the severed neck of Medusa after Perseus killed her. That was the story that I new at least.
In ALL versions of the Greek myths it is so, actually!
EDIT: Also, not to be annoying, but that bit about Fate is actually a spoiler...
Yeah, also, Poseidon didn't originally create the cyclopses, the cyclopses existed even before Poseidon did
@@inspecterspook I think Lockstin referred to the fact that Poseidon fathered the cyclops (the barbarian ones, not the ancient ones).

This could also explain why all fossils are rock types, since they come from the stone age (as in, the first canonical age and therefore rock type being the only type that existed back then)
Regichi is my favorite by far. I’m so glad you didn’t go with a muscle golem, but still managed to reference muscles in the design.
I feel like a better idea for reginger, would be that regigigas tried to create something to keep regigrimm in a "good" mood, to prevent it from lashing out at people
You would be suprised by the Dark Ages’ “Darkness” because it ended dark; it was escalating (I’m pretty sure)

And then there's Mei-Ling from Darkstalkers, who apparently just kind of turns into one to match Hsien-Ko's Jiang Shi-inspired aesthetic.
Oh fun I don't see many people talking about Darkstalkers anymore
God I hope this becomes a rom hack or fan game. I love the atmosphere and the new Pokémon to boot. Plus think about the possibilities of the story.
Etc.
Yea that and other things had caused issues
Not just religion
And even then Christianity was never a issue till it got mixed with politics
I named my Mismagius in Legends Arceus "Miasma" and didn't realize it was actually a word. I mostly just took letters from Mismagius and rearranged them to make Miasma.
Also, Regigrimm looks a lot like Darkrai.
Darkrai is Regigrimm’s therapist
Regieleki and Regidrago are supposed to represent the Age of Enlightenment(The age where man mastered the use of electricity) and The Medieval Ages(Where the myth of the dragon really took off).
EDIT: Kinda funny how given the tone of voice he had, it seems that the not to sure about believing the regi theory, but he wholeheartedly believes the Starter theories, even tho the former actually held water

@@ChespinCraft Either works, They both fit the bill so it doesn’t matter. I mentioned the Age of enlightenment makes more sense given what Galar is based on.
"Grim Type" unironically is friggin amazing for what the type is
Literally everything about the type is about things you could call "grim", like violence or severe negative emotion, and personalities and malice you wouldnt be surprised to see reading one of the old Grimm's Fairy Tales

7:10 “SO YOU BETTER WATCH OUT SHUCKLE! YOUR TIME IS OVER!” *sounds of screaming shuckles as they meet their demise.*
From one Regi of Every Type creator to another, good job! 👍
I think the sounds would give an inhuman but organic feel to the mon’s intelligence , and would call back to the more robotic sounding cries that the original regis are known for.
or something like echoing beeps inside the water, ending with a bubbling sound.
As someone who obsesses over the Regi Family for...no actual reason, I love this.
This was a great video! Just one nitpick tho. The dark ages weren’t all that bad (relatively speaking), people weren’t struggling as badly as some would say, there was plenty of technological innovation. There are videos that can explain it better then me, but I just wanted to mention that.
Pokemon are based from tropes, even from misconceptions. If you want to have a realistic game, go outside.
@@astranix0198 why are you mad over a comment 😭😭
@@Draezeth the United States wasn't conceived as a Christian Nation

I do enjoy these designs, the moves, the lore, etc. It's all fantastic.
Which is unfortunate, because GameFreak can not use these specific designs now. We *could* still get Regis of each type in the future, but they won't be specifically these designs, which is unfortunate.
I mean it is possible game freak and the Pokemon company can easily just do a contest for a Pokemon design like most franchises do
I've always wondered about what would happen.
@@danielcain8136 pfffjahahha, I wouldn't say easily, anything out of the ordinary out of gamefreak ain't to be called easy
Pikachu of every type!

emolga is pure flying

Well the game concept these designs are for is for Pokémon, but an action JRPG. So I think the job is done right.
That's how you create new pokemon! The origins and lore of each one is really captivating! Such a good video, and props to the artist!!
for Regichi I could imagine instead of being in a pokeball his trainer can ware him like a hat and cape so if there ever muged of there pokemon he just unwraps himself from his trainer to defend and protect them, kinda like that one business suit like stand from jojos bizarre adventures.
Yeah but I imagine it would just be comically large
I love the designs of Regireef and Regidust. A water/coral golem and a golem made of bones both sound really cool, I wish they were also available in modern Pokemon games! They could be friends with my favorite Regi: Regidrago! 🐉
Remiasma having a flask body also makes it remind one of the 'creature in the flask' from FMA
Essentially the main antagonist
Well a homunculus (What Father from FMA is) is a creature in a flask in most cases, a small person basically. Being a product of alchemy a pseudoscientific version of chemistry, poison which is very much chemistry would be a fitting connection even if not intentional
Love how you connected some of the Regis to Regigigas's own tasks!
So the slander against the dark ages was uncalled for. If we're counting the roughly 1000-year period from the fall of Rome in 476 to the widespread use of the printing press beginning in 1450, there was plenty of rich contributions to culture across Europe and the Mediterranean.
But how is one supposed to slip in their "Christianity is bad" narrative without slander?

These forms are great!! Though I would think it would make more sense for Apathy as an ability to resist status moves related to the mind, such as Infatuation, Confusion, Sleep, or certain moves/abilities that are based off of emotion, like Intimidate, any move that causes Flinch, or being Taunted / Tormented. After all, it wouldn’t care if these moves were thrown it’s way anyways.
Regichi is really cool! I never would've thought of that. I love how loose it is. I've had ideas for cloth regis, but normally, like, a doll or something. Or like, a whopping sock. You are incorrect about the dark ages
1. It was called as such for 2 main reasons, to represent it as a counter to the later “age of enlightenment” and also because it’s the age directly after the fall of the Roman Empire, and scholars during the Renaissance thought Rome was the coolest thing ever, and had a natural bias against everything afterward
Why do people forget about metallurgy?

Second, regarding Regidust, maybe the voice could be a bit more…raspy? You know, “dry as dust”?
You tell the personality of each regis by just looking at the designs, Great work to the artist!
I love it!
