As a land locked Canadian I'm thrilled to watch someone who not only enjoys what he's doing ( one can see how much fun you have) but takes the time to( often time repeatedly) to educate. Thank you, such a treat to go to sea but not get wet 😉! This brings back memories of my gampy thanks again.
Saith'e are Coalfish (gaelic) up here on the Hebrides , and Pollack are called Lythe(gaelic) sadly big Bass are rare cracking videos always ready to watch your next adventure..
Must admit that i am so jealous of the places that you fish in the UK. And love the way you handle your catch. Just take home what you need👍. Just keep them cumming these super vide. All the best from Holland
Ps I think it’s to do with Facebook. Don’t do any of those social media platforms. No worries I can still watch the videos. Great education and advice John. Keep it coming 👍🎣
How awesome is it to break out the light gear, I love it. By far my favourite way to fish because it really shows the fight in the fish and exaggerates the runs better. Great video John.
Our coal fish up here in Fife are about 5 inch long lol Other difference pollock has bigger eyes and taste better lol Cracking show mate 👍👍👍😜🏴🦕🦄😁✌️🤞 Ps the bass would off been filleted afore release lol Cracking water round where you guys are All the best
You asked what in nature has those bright orange colors. It may be a color mutation, and because of those bright colors, it makes it hard for them to hide from predators when they are little. Here in the states, we see it in large mouth bass. I remember reading an article about a man catching a 2 pound bass that was bright orange. That’s where I learned about it.
Amazing day John and some crackin fish. . Nice to see someone fishing with light rods n lures not just dragging em up from the deep. . . Thanks. . . Tight Lines 🎣 🎣
What a delightful morning and you look as if your enjoying yourself as always John. It’s always a good start to the day seeing you fishing. Stay safe always x
Nice session John. Like you said, always nice to see a Red, stunning looking species. Lots of baitfish around now for fish to gorge on, had time to put a bit of weight on. Enjoyed and thanks again. All the best to you and family.
As always seeing all of those fish caught and released (bar one) it’s not what I am used to. I understand fully why you do it, but my fishing was more to get fish to eat. Unfortunately I can’t put the method to catch and release anymore those days are gone. Your videos are so informative John.
Great to see the session and hear why you change set-ups. I'd like to say my fishing has improved since I started watching you.... well I'm still slowly improving but every now and then it comes together and that's the best feeling!
Great video john. Always take something of use, away from every video you upload. Think i need to tie some smaller 12s sabikis up. Enjoy the pollock great eating fish.
More excellent educational content mate only just getting into sea fishing after 35 years of fresh water fishing and your videos are second to non mate 👍
I'd hazard a guess that it's less about the colors we see the lures as, and more of how the fish see colors. I know that birds see much more in the ultraviolet bandwidth of light; I wonder how fish see things? Anyways, that Mango-Sunrise sandeel lure must have looked absolutely scrumptious to the fish!😂 What a lovely catch~😊
It is a proven fact that Lythe, Coley and Cod prefer the colors red, yellow and Orange. When I was small, my family always used a setup of five to six hooks with rubber bait on. We usually went with red, yellow, white, and moss green. Very rarely we used a black one. But every single time it was the reds and the yellows that took the most fish. I always wondered about that, since very few baits around where I live have those colors.
@@palmarolavlklingholm9684 There's research that shows that a few species of catshark will fluoresce under a blacklight, _and_ they have different patterns of glows from males to females. Scientists suspect that it's a way for them to visually signal to one another for prospective mates, while still maintaining camouflage from their prey and larger predators. Now if they can use that kind of visual trickery, what else are fish doing that we have no idea of~? I mean, it took us _HOW_ long to figure out that bees and other pollinating insects could see in UV, and that was why they liked bright colors? Who knows what else we haven't figured out yet~
Relly good video as usual. You make it look so easy I sit on the beach for hours and catch sh*t all if I lucky a few sprays size fish lol lovely fish size and a lovely bass .I be honest I relly thinking of getting a boat .beaches in eastsussex seems to be hard hit or a miss so to speak
Seriously intrested in your lure gear for reeef and rough ground as we got loads around welsh coast ,particularly....anglssey and cardigan bay......its all between 9metres and 30 metrse deep .......
Hi John, I see your metal spinners have forward tandem hooks; did they com ethat way, or do you fit them fit them yourself as standard practice? I suppose some mono or split ring & swivel might do it. Nice day out, my turn tomorrow.
What a beautiful day on the water, John. Thanks, as always, for sharing it with us. I couldn't help but notice that virtually all the pollock you caught were fat and, presumably, full of bait. Hi from the netherlands. Another great video to watch. I am wondering how you stop the float at 15 meters. I assume you have to use something that goes trough your rodeyes but is big enough to stop the float (and avoid your bait to go Deeper)
Really informative video, thanks once again ;) However, as an absolute beginner when it comes to sea related tackle/line, what knot are you using to join leader to main when lure fishing? Thanks (anybody) in advance
Love the videos after some advice when I’m using lures should I use a light line as at the moment mine aren’t sinking is the line to heavy or do I need to weight the lure thanks
@thefishlocker Hi John, how do you set the depth of the live bait? It appears the weight pulls the mainline through the float and you've set it to stop at x depth - how is that done? Thanks
Mate...I can't believe that that smaller rod didn't snap! What rod are you using there? I've never seen anything like that! Regards...and good luck for the future!
Love your channel, why didn't you eat the Pollock? With respect you may as well eat them if you put your fingers in their gills, there is quite a bit of research to say it harms them.
Do you not get much Codling down your way John? Or is it to do with methods of fishing? Also of all the years you’ve been fishing have you noticed any difference amongst species and numbers etc
Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

Both the Pacific and Atlantic sea fishing look great in Canada!

I always like to see a fish or two taken for the table or the freezer. The ultimate conquest!
Great video but so good to see most fish go back to breed and fight another day.
"All the very best" a North East wish commonly used by me, you and the unfamous, late Vin Garbutt. All of the very, very best to you John.
Man that fish at 28:00 put up a good fight.
Just watched you catching ling and a massive spur dog absolute magic, stumbled on your channel and it's epic.

Cool vid, great to see a master at work 👍
Another great video John , can I ask how you set the depth for the float , thanks 🎣
Great video John as usual, like to see the use of light tackle , so much more fun than hauling fish up on heavy weight gear.

So you make yourself a second channel and invite yourself over to fish as a guest for your first channel. Makes totally sence.
John, what is the maximum weight for the Pollock in your area? Happy to see you got home safely.
The best I’ve heard of is 20lb.
As always excellent work.... Im sure somethng is swimming towards your boat around 30:25 onwards? any thoughts
Hi pal.. Have you changed your channel name.. I've subscribed to this one as well.. Because I don't want to miss owt 🤔😜

Wicked video!
Enjoy your fishing content , very educational. Have you ever fished for striped bass and bluefish in
southern New England USA?
What a beautiful day on the water, John. Thanks, as always, for sharing it with us.

That looked like a great day out. Why did you put the Bass back? Are the lice a problem?

Love the videos after some advice when I’m using lures should I use a light line as at the moment mine aren’t sinking is the line to heavy or do I need to weight the lure thanks
Lovely video! Which depth are you finishing?
Nice one mate! What’s the model of the rod and the reel (sensitive one)? Thanks
hello, if you were to fish from a pier, what kind of rod is really good, it's 10 feet 25-80gr. But what brand? kh brian
Am I the only one that sees the spinning rod with the "baitcaster" or is that by design
@thefishlocker Hi John, how do you set the depth of the live bait? It appears the weight pulls the mainline through the float and you've set it to stop at x depth - how is that done? Thanks
Hey John, I’m going to make a live bait tank, have you any information on any of your videos on your set up??

For the longest time I didn't get it that "sandales" were "sand eels" lol.
