    This is a re-pop of the old ESCI/Ertl A-7, I have the USAF version in my stash. It is a bit crude by today's standards but 30+ years ago it was considered good, you did an outstanding job on this old nugget!

    Also have this kit. Currently working on it now. I have honestly got to say I'm rather disappointed by the quality of the moldings. I'm aware of it's vintage being first released by Esci and then by ERTL prior to Italeri. On my example it has become obvious how bad the molds have degraded. Mine had a grainy finish on parts, incomplete or jagged panel lines (re-scribing them by the way), and general poor fit. I'm not addressing the lack of intake trunking just going to use the included FOD cover. I used Eduards PE set to dress up the spartan cockpit and some exterior components. Your build turned out excellent. The video of your detailed build was a pleasure to watch.

    Easier method of filling bad panel lines is using old sprues stretched over a lighter to very thin string. You simply glue them were needed and sand them.

    Have you sacrificed Hobby Boss set? Did it make sense and did it pay off?

    • @Fred_SPb
      @Fred_SPb  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course, the kit was sacrificed. In addition to its advantages, it has many disadvantages. This was done in order to complete the Italerie kit in order to have a Corsair model. A Fujimi kit is a rarity here.
      In this case, money didn't matter. Sometimes resin parts cost as many as several kits.

      I have not had the opportunity to buy a Fujimi kit, I know that it is of good quality.
      The main landing gear of the Hobby Boss kit are too thin, the wheels are smaller, so I took the main landing gear from the Italeri kit, the front leg in the Hobby Boss kit is made with high detail, so I put it on.
      Gear doors is from Hobby Boss kit.

    • @Fred_SPb
      @Fred_SPb  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you.
      Sturene sheet is very thin, it is from cans of dairy products, I have now measured the thickness - 0.25 mm, so it is easy to give it the desired curvature. In addition, the curvature of the channel is determined by the lower and upper lips of the air intake.

      I agree with you. If you build models for fun, that's fine. But when you assemble a model and want to get a good result - it's a little different. If quality did not play a role, we would not see the beautiful Tamiya or GWH models.

    Technically that is not an Italeri kit but an old Esci. And a trash one. (As bad as the Hasegawa Phantoms.) The Fujimi kit is one year older, and still much better.
    BTW the overdone panel lines make it looks like a toy. I never understood this mania. Have absolutely no reality in it.

    • @Fred_SPb
      @Fred_SPb  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      From the point of view of scale, all lines must be sanded, since the seam between the panels cannot be displayed in 1:72 scale, but all manufacturers depict them. These lines are better than those that were on the parts initially.
      This video is not a guide how to apply panel lines. I am just trying to build something from this kit and show its quality. And I don’t like to leave the assembly because I don’t like the panel lines.
      Esci or Italeri - what's the difference? This is firewood.

    • @egyeneskifli7808
      @egyeneskifli7808 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      And why is it good to highlight those lines even further?
      Yes, I know this kit. I have it too. MY opinion on it is the same. Purchased mainly for the windshield and the decals. My Fujimi kit's windshield has broken to million bits (so thin they made it, it exploded when I cut it from the sprue) and there is not a single aftermarket canopy/windshield to this craft.
      BTW I am in the brink of shove all of my Hasegawa kits (except the Sabre Dog, that is decent at least) into the trashcan. The engineering on those kits are just idiotistic. Probably engineered by people who never assembled a single of their products. Most of the parts are not positioned at all, especially not in the nose section. Their F-4 is one of the worst in 1/72, and their F-15 is crap too. Both of those kits are from the 1980s, and they just simply repacking them all the time. And of course every repack means a raise in the price. The F-15 is in the same price as the GWH F-15s, but the two are not in the same league (Hasegawa in the 2nd/3rd lowest, GWH in the 1st highest). It is popular to look down on the Italeri kits, but most of the hyped and praised Hasegawa kits as bad as those bad Italeris. And there are a lot of Italeri kits that wash the floor with its Hasegawa counterparts (for example the A-10A/C). And well, the Hasegawa A-7 kits are even worse then the ex-Esci/Italeri. Never understood why Hasegawa is so praised. They are fucking overrated.
