yeah, they make a e class look like a mini s class and a a4 is a mini a8 but the biggest offender is bmw and benz putting AMG and M badges on cars that arent true AMG or M models. They stick those badges on everything now

I bought a 2019 Genesis in 2019 and still have it. I and everyone who sees it love it to this day. It's black with the near white interior. First time I've ever owned a rear wheel drive vehicle, and that's taken some getting used to. I enjoyed your video on the newest G70. I feel people are surprised at how affordable they are. Plus, you get a lot for your money.
@@98matching Unfortunately it appears that Genesis is only offering the red interior on their limited quantity “Launch Edition” models that come with either the matte grey or matte white exterior colors. In fact, red is the only available interior color on this package! Beyond this model, red will not be available. AND to add insult to injury, the cool wheels that you see in this review are not available on the launch edition model- they stick you with a rather unattractive (IMHO) multi-spoke wheel. I was really astonished when I learned all of this upon going to their website. Like, WTF? I hope they eventually realize that in this higher-end market people expect more flexibility when configuring their cars. I hope they will eventually decide to offer the red interior as a real option, not just on some limited time, limited quantity edition. Very disappointing, especially considering that it appears that the GV-70 will have a number of interior colors available, including red, AND the top trim has bad-ass wheels!
I don’t know too much about Genesis and the entire Korean car brand , but I most definitely commend them on their due diligence for doing a great work on bringing on a wow factor and fresh styling ! I hope Infiniti will just redesign their q50 red sport sedan with a great exterior and interior design with more exterior /interior option, 9spd/ manual tranny , and more power to get back into the sport sedan segment because the redsport is slipping away. IMO

The Genesis is hands down gorgeous! I do wonder how it’s going to age… if I was making a luxo’ish purchase for the money and features I’d prooooobably go with the G70 over the M340
I disagree. I believe the vehicles are almost identical and I think the average person wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Maybe a bit more power in the m340i, but I bet once you tell them the price difference, they would choose the g70.

I can tell from the number of views that Korean cars are getting so much attention these days in every car reviewer on TH-cam. This indicates indirectly that Korean cars have stepped up and filled people’s satisfaction in some level.
What a beautiful car, I had a G80 and loved it! It depreciated horribly but maybe nowadays with car chip shortages and more appreciation these will do better. So very underrated!
Great review as always. Super thorough and very honest. Loving the front end of the G70. I’ve had several BMW’s. Currently driving a 550I Msport but I’m thinking of going for a G70. Also had the 335I Msport before the 550. While I love the performance, I’ve grown tired of the fact there have been very little changes to the models over the last few years.
I just Purchased a 2022 3.3t Fully-Loaded AWD and I'm Really Enjoying my Car! I was Originally looking at an Audi S5 Sportback, but once the Dealership tried to get me to pay a $14,000 mark up over MSRP I left their Showroom Floor with my Middle Fingers in the Air and Ended up back at Genesis (I had a 2018 G80 that I Purchased used and was bored with). Thank You Audi, because you saved me $20k and I have more Car for Less!!! 😏
Often times I’ve already seen the vehicle review from someone else already (not sure why, maybe the algorithm) but I always come back for a second look because you often have the best spec of the vehicle, and your reviews are much more detailed. Keep up the good work!
Just bought a 2022 G70 3.3 RWD in Siberian Ice today. After years of driving Germany's best (I'm a Porsche guy at heart) - this car blew me away. It's not a Porsche, but as far as a daily driver car... there is nothing better for the money. Genesis is crushing it.
My wife has a 2021 Hyundai Palisade and the Hyundai family of brands is just killing it lately. I love Joe's reviews, you can tell he is genuinely having fun. And no review would be complete without the lovely Lori behind the camera. You guys rock!
I own a Stinger GTII but can speak for the G70 since it drives and feels similar. They both are great cars and an EZ decision over the competition for what you get. Genesis is bringing it! Great review brother!
The new G70 drives nothing like stringer. STINGER doesn’t sell well and is known to be overly expensive in Korea where it’s developed and made. No wonder Kia has to sell them at hugely discount price. I had my GT2 2018, received over $16,000 discount after all the incentives and dealer discount, but man,,, stinger does not compete with German rivals lol. I got rid of it after 2months because I was so unhappy with it. It’s all steel and no aluminum in the suspension and rides like a $30,000 car.
@@Warrior11117 I don’t know what you had, but I’ve got a 2018 Stinger GT2, and I regularly test drive BMWs et al. It absolutely competes with the German rivals, and particularly when you factor in the practicality of the hatch and the price.
Thanks Lori for all those great camera work. Im loving this car so much really wish they had tuned it up to 400hp from the factory. Test drive the same spec as you had just a different colour and that car felt like it had more to give from that motor

I do love this G70, but my gray Honda Accord Sport 2.0 is a great balance for me, sporty and affordable. This Genesis makes me appreciate my Honda more. Thanks for the excellent review.
Would prefer the Genesis emblem in the rear, also a coupe version would give the G70 more validation. My 2020 G70 wants to run so looking at this 2022 tells me the thrill is still there.

I never thought I'd say this, but I'm in love with Genesis. I never took them seriously until I saw a few 2021/22 models. I am blown away by their design, luxury, power, price, fuel economy. 0 - 60 in what? I wasn't expecting that! Be still my heart...This is the new up and coming Jaguar!
Don't worry, they 100% overestimated. This thing gets absolutely WALKED on by an M340I and that car actually does 60 in 4.2. This car is closer to 4.7 or so.
Great value for money. Other great things (in Canada) is that they include 5-year bumper to bumper warranty and oils changes, maintenance. And all in pricing. I was pricing a Mercedes and was so turned off by the ridiculous upselling bs. Genesis has a winnner here. I love mine.
I had a 2018 E Coupe. I absolutely loved the car. But now it’s time for something new and I am thinking Genesis is the direction I want to go this time. The exterior of genesis is gorgeous in my opinion.
Coming from a loyal Mercedes owner, I purchased a ‘22 G70 3.3T and it has blown my mind and kept a smile on my face! And she gets lots of compliments on her Mallorca blue!
Now that Gensis exist, I see no reason to pay 10-20k more just for a base BMW or a Mercedes, when I could save that money and still have a fully loaded luxury Genesis

@@yahshaunyahu Resale of a genesis is DEFINITELY not nearly as fast and unfortunately because they're new to the luxury-side of the auto world and not nearly as recognized as their german counterparts , and so they struggle. And no, I wanted to say that based on experience. I bought a used siberian ice 2020 G70 a few months ago and absolutely adored that thing, but ended up wanting to switch to a m3p for that instant torque because it's addictive. Ended up looking at trade in options and private sale options and i had already lost nearly 10% on the car (I got it for quite a decent price as well) You can even check G70 depreciation curves on many websites comparing it to something like the m340i or some c classes and you'll see they hold their own better. Genesis makes lovely cars, but the fact is sadly they have bad resale because the masses want BMWs, Mercedes and other cars that have prestige to the name. Not many people are well aware of a hyundai luxury brand haha.

I test drove this exact set-up and I’m sold. Except the color was Siberian Ice. So beautiful. I was convinced I was going to buy an Audi S3 but not anymore. I’ll keep my 03 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T 5 Speed as my project car and get this as my main vehicle. It’s just awesome and the features are outstanding!
BMW lost all credibility with me once they started adding M in front of cars that aren’t real M cars. They are morons for devaluing the M brand. I used to have an E46 M3 that I bought new in 2002. That’s the last BMW I will have ever owned. Currently driving a 2018 Genesis G80 Sport AWD and loving everything about it.
They did that to attract younger buyers that cant afford a real M car. The M340I power is what the M3 was just a few years ago and the M550i is no joke either. Over 500 HP in that! Mercedes is doing the same thing. Their copying Audi whose been doing this for years with A, S, and RS. Its working because sales are up.
Thats how i want mine. White w black rims. Windows tinted. The blacked out accents the launch edition has. Only thing i dont lile about the launch edition is the red seats, id prefer black interior
Being a Genesis owner, these vehicles have come a long way in just 6 years. Their depreciation, resell value is still weak when compared with other luxury brands. But, then again, this can also be said for Maserati's. If you plan to spend less and still get the most car, with minimal maintenance cost for a long-term tenured ownership, it's hard to beat the Genesis line-up and its initial value!

@@alh06 ok so everything you said just sounds like a lot of bias, the engine sound, looks and sounds are all a matter of opinion, nobody is right or wrong, in terms of driving I have seen comparisons of the two and have been inside the two the genesis is the same or better, and for 10k less or even more it’s well worth it, it’s also genesis tends to make more reliable cars than bmw
This car in red with awd would be perfect. Black leather seats with red stitching and red seat belts would make the interior look awesome. Fantastic camera work 👍
How would you compare this to the new stinger. Performance is pretty much the same, although the stinger is seen to be slightly faster, but how do the interiors compare? The genesis advertises such a luxurious interior, is there a big difference? The stinger suede interior is growing on me and I can't decide which one is the overall better buy.

All the On Throttle moments- Joe has such a serious look on his face. The engine is roaring as he cuts through the twisty bits. He's thinking to himself- I forgot to pick up snack for Lori, gotta run back to the store. The only three things stopping me from getting one of these is: 1.The G80 2. No fTFT full digital gauge 3. The Kia K8
Your best bet is to go test drive the cars. I was torn between the M340i, Stinger GT, and CT5-V. Before the test drives, I was pretty much sold on the M340i just from the reviews online. I figured, why not try the 2022 G70 while I'm at it.. Even if it wasn't on my list, I fell in love and pulled the trigger on it immediately after driving all the other cars. That being said, your perception will change when you drive the cars regardless of what you've read online because your opinion might differ.
I would 100% pick this G70 over the M340i, any day. The exterior redesign looks good and way more aggressive than the previous design, although I wish they would get that front sensor plate hidden behind the grille like on the GV70. What is also needs is to switch over to the new 3.5T smartstream engine.
Just bought one of theses with the 3.3 V6 the car is amazing. But the dealers suck I had to drive to a dealer about an hour away that wasn’t charging $5K over MSRP.
I have the 2020 3.3GT Sport and I love it. The 2022 has some nicer styling particularly with the front headlights and the infotainment system is light years better but I'm ok sticking with the 2020. For the money its a much better buy than the M340i, C43 or Giulia.
@@mexicansoutherngirl I have about 60,000 km (38,000 miles) on it and no issues mechanically or electronically. The only significant costs I've had to bear so far are replacing 5 summer tires because the streets in Toronto are horrible.
Great looking car and demonstration of its performance Joe. I like the sleek exterior lines and the interior looks pretty classy too. Good points on some of the trim refinements like the steering wheel but still totally livable. My biggest zonk is the cramped rear seat and maybe truck because you get a 4 door to haul other people and this just does not have the room. I think a Camry TRD would be a nice comparison. The German brands are over priced IMO.
I'm "zonking" BMW...I have owned 5 Hyundai's and you definitely get more bang for your buck, including an excellent warranty package! I haven't paid for basic maintenance or oil changes in years...All included through my local Hyundai dealer with the purchase of a new vehicle!
Let's be honest, anyone who can afford a M340i (I'm not talking about the guy who has to take out a loan to get one), ain't going to be buying this car, no matter how nice it is. IMO, this will pull in more than a few potential TLX Type S buyers, who simply find that car too supersized.

Im Korean and I would still get an M340i for the B58 engine. Once they put the 3.5T from the GV70/80 in this, then it would be close. 90% of the BMW performance for 70% of the price and significantly better reliability.
I brought my G80 to the dealership for some minor warranty work, and they gave me a G70 3.3T as a loaner. I was surprised at how smooth it drove for having a shorter wheelbase compared to it's bigger sibling, and the torque was impressive. There is ABSOLUTELY nothing negative I can say about the car except that 90mph feels like 60, which can get you in trouble until you "calibrate" or keep ur eye on the speedo.
Genesis has done so many things right but I think not having the full digital cluster is a HUGE mistake. For that reason alone is second guess getting one since it’s one of the best features on the rest of their lineup.
What's crazy is the South Korean version (and possibly some other markets) offer the Genesis G70, and even the Kia K5 with a full digital gauge cluster in it, but not the US
This is quite a nice car! I would rather have this over the Stinger to be honest, but what I wish Genesis did was incorporate the side repeaters from the G80 on this car. I think it would have helped create that line that starts at the headlight and carry it through the rear. Can't wait for you to get your hands on a CT5-V Blackwing. That's my dream car right there!
After looking at cars for a few months this video pushed me to go look at the new g70 in person. Left the dealer with a new g70 sport prestige in the tasman blue. What an amazing car

The F30 had a more aggressive rear . This looks terrible and the front looks outdated for a redesign. Even the interior feels outdated.

Great review as always. Super thorough and very honest. Loving the front end of the G70. I’ve had several BMW’s. Currently driving a 550I Msport but I’m thinking of going for a G70. Also had the 335I Msport before the 550. While I love the performance, I’ve grown tired of the fact there have been very little changes to the models over the last few years.

I just Purchased a 2022 3.3t Fully-Loaded AWD and I'm Really Enjoying my Car! I was Originally looking at an Audi S5 Sportback, but once the Dealership tried to get me to pay a $14,000 mark up over MSRP I left their Showroom Floor with my Middle Fingers in the Air and Ended up back at Genesis (I had a 2018 G80 that I Purchased used and was bored with). Thank You Audi, because you saved me $20k and I have more Car for Less!!! 😏

Just bought a 2022 G70 3.3 RWD in Siberian Ice today. After years of driving Germany's best (I'm a Porsche guy at heart) - this car blew me away. It's not a Porsche, but as far as a daily driver car... there is nothing better for the money. Genesis is crushing it.
The engine cover should have the GENESIS logo on it.

I own a Stinger GTII but can speak for the G70 since it drives and feels similar. They both are great cars and an EZ decision over the competition for what you get. Genesis is bringing it! Great review brother!
The new G70 drives nothing like stringer. STINGER doesn’t sell well and is known to be overly expensive in Korea where it’s developed and made. No wonder Kia has to sell them at hugely discount price. I had my GT2 2018, received over $16,000 discount after all the incentives and dealer discount, but man,,, stinger does not compete with German rivals lol. I got rid of it after 2months because I was so unhappy with it. It’s all steel and no aluminum in the suspension and rides like a $30,000 car.
@@Warrior11117 I don’t know what you had, but I’ve got a 2018 Stinger GT2, and I regularly test drive BMWs et al. It absolutely competes with the German rivals, and particularly when you factor in the practicality of the hatch and the price.

I do love this G70, but my gray Honda Accord Sport 2.0 is a great balance for me, sporty and affordable. This Genesis makes me appreciate my Honda more. Thanks for the excellent review.
Would prefer the Genesis emblem in the rear, also a coupe version would give the G70 more validation. My 2020 G70 wants to run so looking at this 2022 tells me the thrill is still there.

I never thought I'd say this, but I'm in love with Genesis. I never took them seriously until I saw a few 2021/22 models. I am blown away by their design, luxury, power, price, fuel economy. 0 - 60 in what? I wasn't expecting that! Be still my heart...This is the new up and coming Jaguar!
Don't worry, they 100% overestimated. This thing gets absolutely WALKED on by an M340I and that car actually does 60 in 4.2. This car is closer to 4.7 or so.

Great value for money. Other great things (in Canada) is that they include 5-year bumper to bumper warranty and oils changes, maintenance. And all in pricing. I was pricing a Mercedes and was so turned off by the ridiculous upselling bs. Genesis has a winnner here. I love mine.
I had a 2018 E Coupe. I absolutely loved the car. But now it’s time for something new and I am thinking Genesis is the direction I want to go this time.

Coming from a loyal Mercedes owner, I purchased a ‘22 G70 3.3T and it has blown my mind and kept a smile on my face! And she gets lots of compliments on her Mallorca blue!
Now that Gensis exist, I see no reason to pay 10-20k more just for a base BMW or a Mercedes, when I could save that money and still have a fully loaded luxury Genesis

@@yahshaunyahu Resale of a genesis is DEFINITELY not nearly as fast and unfortunately because they're new to the luxury-side of the auto world and not nearly as recognized as their german counterparts , and so they struggle. And no, I wanted to say that based on experience. I bought a used siberian ice 2020 G70 a few months ago and absolutely adored that thing, but ended up wanting to switch to a m3p for that instant torque because it's addictive. Ended up looking at trade in options and private sale options and i had already lost nearly 10% on the car (I got it for quite a decent price as well)
You can even check G70 depreciation curves on many websites comparing it to something like the m340i or some c classes and you'll see they hold their own better.
Genesis makes lovely cars, but the fact is sadly they have bad resale because the masses want BMWs, Mercedes and other cars that have prestige to the name. Not many people are well aware of a hyundai luxury brand haha.

I test drove this exact set-up and I’m sold. Except the color was Siberian Ice. So beautiful. I was convinced I was going to buy an Audi S3 but not anymore. I’ll keep my 03 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T 5 Speed as my project car and get this as my main vehicle. It’s just awesome and the features are outstanding!

BMW lost all credibility with me once they started adding M in front of cars that aren’t real M cars. They are morons for devaluing the M brand. I used to have an E46 M3 that I bought new in 2002. That’s the last BMW I will have ever owned. Currently driving a 2018 Genesis G80 Sport AWD and loving everything about it.

They did that to attract younger buyers that cant afford a real M car. The M340I power is what the M3 was just a few years ago and the M550i is no joke either. Over 500 HP in that! Being a Genesis owner, these vehicles have come a long way in just 6 years. Their depreciation, resell value is still weak when compared with other luxury brands. But, then again, this can also be said for Maserati's. If you plan to spend less and still get the most car, with minimal maintenance cost for a long-term tenured ownership, it's hard to beat the Genesis line-up and its initial value!
Most luxury brands depreciate worse than these, Jaguars, Mercs and BMW's dont hold value after 4 or 5 years..

The front tires are 225 wide and not 245 wide like Joe said. Also those are Pilot Sport 4 tires and not the better performance Pilot Sport 4 S tires.

@@alh06 ok so everything you said just sounds like a lot of bias, the engine sound, looks and sounds are all a matter of opinion, nobody is right or wrong, in terms of driving I have seen comparisons of the two and have been inside the two the genesis is the same or better, and for 10k less or even more it’s well worth it, it’s also genesis tends to make more reliable cars than bmw

How would you compare this to the new stinger. Performance is pretty much the same, although the stinger is seen to be slightly faster, but how do the interiors compare? The genesis advertises such a luxurious interior, is there a big difference? The stinger suede interior is growing on me and I can't decide which one is the overall better buy.

All the On Throttle moments- Joe has such a serious look on his face. The engine is roaring as he cuts through the twisty bits. He's thinking to himself- I forgot to pick up snack for Lori, gotta run back to the store. The only three things stopping me from getting one of these is: 1.The G80 2. No fTFT full digital gauge 3. The Kia K8

Like the front grill & fascia update but not liking the style change to the rear at all. Previous rear end was nicer.
I'm torn between this, the CT5-V, and Stinger GT. I'll be buying one of the 3 in the next 2 months.
Your best bet is to go test drive the cars. I was torn between the M340i, Stinger GT, and CT5-V. Before the test drives, I was pretty much sold on the M340i just from the reviews online. I figured, why not try the 2022 G70 while I'm at it.. Even if it wasn't on my list, I fell in love and pulled the trigger on it immediately after driving all the other cars.
That being said, your perception will change when you drive the cars regardless of what you've read online because your opinion might differ.

I would 100% pick this G70 over the M340i, any day. The exterior redesign looks good and way more aggressive than the previous design, although I wish they would get that front sensor plate hidden behind the grille like on the GV70. What is also needs is to switch over to the new 3.5T smartstream engine.

@@MrRobVision 340 uses a zf8 not a DCT, but yeah the b58 is solid.
Just bought one of theses with the 3.3 V6 the car is amazing. But the dealers suck I had to drive to a dealer about an hour away that wasn’t charging $5K over MSRP.
They both have amazing features and stuff but I’m gonna most likely still go with BMW. I do like both so that would also be an option for me.

I have the 2020 3.3GT Sport and I love it. The 2022 has some nicer styling particularly with the front headlights and the infotainment system is light years better but I'm ok sticking with the 2020. For the money its a much better buy than the M340i, C43 or Giulia.

@@mexicansoutherngirl I have about 60,000 km (38,000 miles) on it and no issues mechanically or electronically. The only significant costs I've had to bear so far are replacing 5 summer tires because the streets in Toronto are horrible.

Great looking car and demonstration of its performance Joe. I like the sleek exterior lines and the interior looks pretty classy too. Good points on some of the trim refinements like the steering wheel but still totally livable. My biggest zonk is the cramped rear seat and maybe truck because you get a 4 door to haul other people and this just does not have the room. I think a Camry TRD would be a nice comparison. The German brands are over priced IMO.
I'm "zonking" BMW...I have owned 5 Hyundai's and you definitely get more bang for your buck, including an excellent warranty package! I haven't paid for basic maintenance or oil changes in years...All included through my local Hyundai dealer with the purchase of a new vehicle!
Let's be honest, anyone who can afford a M340i (I'm not talking about the guy who has to take out a loan to get one), ain't going to be buying this car, no matter how nice it is. IMO, this will pull in more than a few potential TLX Type S buyers, who simply find that car too supersized.

Im Korean and I would still get an M340i for the B58 engine. Once they put the 3.5T from the GV70/80 in this, then it would be close. 90% of the BMW performance for 70% of the price and significantly better reliability.

I brought my G80 to the dealership for some minor warranty work, and they gave me a G70 3.3T as a loaner.
I was surprised at how smooth it drove for having a shorter wheelbase compared to it's bigger sibling, and the torque was impressive. There is ABSOLUTELY nothing negative I can say about the car except that 90mph feels like 60, which can get you in trouble until you "calibrate" or keep ur eye on the speedo.
Genesis has done so many things right but I think not having the full digital cluster is a HUGE mistake. For that reason alone is second guess getting one since it’s one of the best features on the rest of their lineup.
What's crazy is the South Korean version (and possibly some other markets) offer the Genesis G70, and even the Kia K5 with a full digital gauge cluster in it, but not the US
This is quite a nice car! I would rather have this over the Stinger to be honest, but what I wish Genesis did was incorporate the side repeaters from the G80 on this car. I think it would have helped create that line that starts at the headlight and carry it through the rear. Can't wait for you to get your hands on a CT5-V Blackwing. That's my dream car right there!

After looking at cars for a few months this video pushed me to go look at the new g70 in person. Left the dealer with a new g70 sport prestige in the tasman blue. What an amazing car
