    I made the smoothie this morning and couldn't wait to use it. So I spritzed my twists with the tea rinse and squeezed some of this delicious smoothie whip into each twist. Now my hair is magically transformed into something that's as soft as butter.
    And guys, if you ever make it don't skip the sieving stage. I was tempted to skip it, but changed my mind. And when I looked, there was small lumps of Shea butter left in the sieve, even though I'd whipped it for about seven minutes in my stand mixer!
    I can already tell this moisturiser is a winner, even if I've only had it on my hair for six hours. Afua, thanks for sharing ♥️

      Yaaay! I'm so, so pleased 😘 I need to update my recipe as I've found that to avoid sieving, simply melt the butter beforehand, place in the freezer then blitz. It's amazing 😍

    Purchased this from your Esty store. Hair stopped breaking and I’ve noticed thicker hair. I ❤️ this product. Telling everyone about this.

    I made this smoothie and used it for a week along with the moringa hair spray and my hair loved it. My hair stayed moisturized for a few days before I had to use it again. I usually have to moisturize everyday, but with this I didn't have to. I also used olive oil instead of the coconut oil because I know olive oil is more moisturizing. It also stopped my shedding to nothing! Thank you for this recipe. I will be using this from now on!!!

    Great recipe, I am definitely going to try this. Swapping out the coconut oil would be my only substitute. My question: preservatives? Even though there is no water added, there area oils added to powders. I was reading the comments where you mentioned shea butter is best kept in dark places, unsealed bag, however the composition of the butter has changed with all the additives. Does this really stay fresh with no preservatives? thank you

    shea butter is the business together with the ayurvedic herbs, i threw out my keracare snd shea moisture products in the bin because my hair was breaking out majorly with those store bought products.

    Thanks a lot for sharing! Question : how exactly do you apply the smoothie? I mean, before washing the hair? And for how long shall I keep it in the hair? It means to be apply into the scalp or only hair long? Rinse? Thanks and greetings from Switzerland 🇨🇭

    • @naturalbarnet2470
      @naturalbarnet2470  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hello! The Smoothie is a perfect sealant so is best to apply after a hydrant (eg. Water spray bottle or one of my Tea Rinse Recipes), followed by a water based Leave-In Conditioner and lastly the Smoothie to lock in all that moisture! Only apply this to the Hair itself (My Ayurvedic Oil is purposefully for the scalp). You wash it out when it's time for your next Wash Day, how often that is is personal to you 😊

    Hi! Great videos! I’ve been using Ayurveda on my hair since Sept 2017 and have definitely noticed a difference. A common problem I run into is the graininess of the herbs. Does this mixture feel grainy because of the herbs? How do you get your mixes to not leave a grainy residue in your hair? I’ve tried staining them and using a stocking.

    • @naturalbarnet2470
      @naturalbarnet2470  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      dmathis Hi! Thank you :) Yes, I used to have the same problem. No, I no longer feel much grains as long as I limit my Ayurvedic blend to 1tsp per batch. The grains are still there but they're SO minimal, I honestly don't even notice.

    If this will replace a moisturizer then I’m buying it. My hair is protein sensitive and I live in Florida so that rules out glycerin as well. Oyin Handmade Hair Dew is a great little moisturizer with no protein and no glycerin but I received a bad batch once that smelled so horrible it made me sick to my stomach. I am sensitive to fragrances and since then I am not able to use it without gagging. 😂😂😂 That said, I’m off to your store!!

      @@naturalbarnet2470 So far I have it in a mason jar in a dark area to infuse so I havent used it yet. I was going to wait 2-3 weeks to use it but after seeing your video I'll heat it up on the stove once I get more of the ingredents you used. Also that not a long time, I was thinking it would take weeks.

    FYI to prevent rancid butter! Shea Butter should always be stored in a large ziplock storage bag not sealed and placed in a dark box and placed in a dark area. Never in those grocery store bags they breeds moisture

    • @naturalbarnet2470
      @naturalbarnet2470  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Living Righteousness God’s Way in Christ Thank you! Although, having been brought up around Shea Butter all my life, this has never been my experience. Loosely wrapped in a plastic bag to 'breathe' yet still in a dark place has been the best way to preserve its freshness in my experience.

      Hi! I'm sorry, I just saw your msg. Personally, I have my Mum bring Shea Butter when she travels but if I were to look here (London), I would go to the markets. Forget retail shops as they'll cost an arm and a leg. However, if you want to stay with retail, there's Paks and other hair shops. For Online, try Akoma, The Soapery or Shea Butter Cottage 😊
      Look for one that is unrefined and hasn't been dyed (the dyed ones look dark yellow). It also has a nutty/smoky scent. Hope that helps 😊

      NaturalBarnet Hi, I received my order and my gosh first of all let me say I did not want to open the package. It was so neatly wrapped and the ribbon tape looked so pretty. Inside the smoothie was so well packaged with an information leaflet which was a nice touch. The smoothie itself was so neatly placed in the bottle I didn't want to break the seal to open it either. Ok guys the smoothie itself smells amazing like dam I can't stop smelling it. It is so moisturizing my hair loves it 100%. This is my new sealant for sure. It will be payday for me next week and I am going to place another order and will keep ordering as long as you supply. I totally love it and give credit where it is due. Fabulous product my love. @naturalbarnet2470  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hodatarek119 Please click on the Description Box for info of where to buy the ingredients 😊 You could add Flaxseed Powder to this mix. Shelf life, it depends on the expiry of the products you use but on average, I would say 6-18 months. The Rosemary Oil in the mix also doubles as a natural preservative.

    • @hodatarek119
      @hodatarek119 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks for replying please i got another question can we add aloevera gel ready made or fresh ?? what would be the shelf life if i use the fresh one please ?? ..... what if i want to use it with a pump bottle can i make it smoother ?? and you didn;t mention the application method ?? thanks

    • @naturalbarnet2470
      @naturalbarnet2470  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Adding ready-made aloe vera gel will extend the shelf life if you added it. That would make a great styler! I'm not exactly sure how long the shelf life would be if you used a fresh one, but I would use it within 3 months. Just do a small batch at a time and you'll be fine.... A pump bottle won't necessarily make it smoother. To make it smoother, melt your shea butter first over a bain-marie then freeze it. I will be doing a video on this very soon... The method! So I use this after I have dampened my hair with my Tea Rinse Spray, then I apply a water-based leave-in, then I finally add a small amount of the Smoothie. A little goes a LONGGG way! Hope that helps!

    • @hodatarek119
      @hodatarek119 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hii thanks a lot for replying you mean fresh aloevera will be 3 months shelf life ?? or the ready made one > i will give this as a birthday gift to my sis tomorrow so please try to help me make it smoother as a daily use soft fluffy gel she like to use it this way for everyday use please make the video today please thanks a lot for your great help and videos ....

    • @naturalbarnet2470
      @naturalbarnet2470  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the fresh aloe vera gel I wouldn't extend for more than 3 months just to be on the safe side. It may extend longer. Although if you use it regularly, it should be used up within that time. Lucky sister! The mix does come out very fluffy. If you would like to make it fluffier, just add 1-2 tablespoons of Coconut Oil and whip it for an extra 5 minutes. Unfortunately I won't be able to do the video today! All you need to do it melt your shea butter, place it in a plastic container then put it in your freezer. It's very simple and will work - I promise!

      ShesDanni Hey! You shouldn't need to use this daily as it keeps your hair moisturised for days (when used as a sealant). Unless you want to use it to re twist your hair at night, then I'd say use only water first then the Smoothie (parricularly on the ends) so that your hair isn't weighed down with too much product 😊👍🏾

    How do u get herbs to be watery consistency?

    • @naturalbarnet2470
      @naturalbarnet2470  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A teaspoon of each herb in a bowl with 7 tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Infuse over a pan of gentle simmering water for 10 minutes 👍🏾😊

    Can you melt the butter and oils together, put it the fridge to slightly harden, whip the mixture until fluffy; then add everything else?

    • @naturalbarnet2470
      @naturalbarnet2470  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      conneaness Hey! There's no reason why you couldn't do that way! I can imagine your Smoothie would be quite dense so drizzle on some Olive Oil as you're whisking to get it fluffy.

    If it's a moisturizer wouldn't it be more hydrating if you added water to it?

    • @naturalbarnet2470
      @naturalbarnet2470  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Solange White Great question. Water and oils/butters don't naturally mix and it would require a chemically based emollient to combine the two. I always recommend hydrating the hair FIRST by misting with Water/Tea Rinse/Aloe Vera & Water Mix, then applying a Leave-In Conditioner (if the hair is extremely dry) then end with the Smoothie. Hope this helps 😊

      Solange White You're welcome 😊 (PS. I forgot to specify the Leave-In should be water based - so water is the first listed ingredient in it) x

      Hi, I explain in the video :) I use this as a sealant after applying a Tea Rinse then a Leave-In Conditioner. It locks in all the moisture and keeps my hair soft for days 👍🏾

    • @naturalbarnet2470
      @naturalbarnet2470  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's a big misconception with low porosity hair and penetrative oils and butters. My hair is also low porosity. No Oil/butter works well with low porosity hair unless the cuticles are first slightly raised to let moisture in, then seals with a butter/oil to lock in the moisture.

    • @beegee4791
      @beegee4791 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, what will you use to raise the cuticles so as to add moisture, especially on non-wash days? I know ACV closes cuticles. What can do the job of the raising the cuticles?
