    OMG I LOVE YOUR OIL...this is my very first comment. I have braids and within week 2 my growth was ridiculous. I only could keep the braids for four weeks and even that was a major stretch. I walked around looking like my braids were a month old by two weeks and 2 months old by fourth week. I will try to make my own this time. Thank you 🙏🏾😊

    Hi Afua, I haven't spoken to you for a long time, but have become obsessed with watching your wonderful videos!
    I just thought i'ld share my joke with you as i was highly entertained by it...my son more so than me!
    So, i had just spent some time, this evening massaging your wonderful, original (homemade) hair oil recipe into my hair. I, lovingly, squeezed the little droplets of this amazing oil into my scalp with great anticipation of inhaling the wonderful aroma that just makes you want to lay down and relax.
    When i was done I began to massage my scalp; using nice, gentle circular motions...just like you, my hair Guru! Ha! BARS! Loool.
    Once I felt that my scalp was nice and stimulated, I said to my son,
    "Aaah that feels wonderful! This oil is so light, you can hardly feel it going into your scalp...fantastic!"
    My, son aged 15, then replied,
    "Errr! Or could that lightness be because NONE of it has actually gone into your hair!! First of all, the RED TOP is still on it and second of all, due to the temperature, your oil has set cold in the bottle and hasn't MOVED since you started!🤣😂🤣😂"
    Well! The my humiliation was definitely 10 out of 10 that's for sure! 😂🤣😂🤣 but my son and I both have a wonderful sense of humour, so we both laught and laught about it; with my son saying he missed a great You Tube moment there! 🤣😂🤣 Phew! 😅
    I hope you found my story entertaining!
    Thank you for your recipes! I love my TEA RINSE...at first it made my hair feel a bit brittle, but later that same day, it seem to break down as the goodness went in, then my hair stated to feel soft, strong and wonderful!
    Tonight, I planned to make your UPDATED OIL, but I've just found out I have no OLIVE OIL!! Damb! I thought I checked everything...PLEASE CHECK YOU HAVE EVERYTHING PEOPLE! GRRR!
    OFF TO AMAZON TO ORDER SOME ASAP!
    Can't wait to try it...with the bottle top OFF this time!
    By Afua ♡
    PS UPDATE VID OF YOUR BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER'S HAIR PLEASE. ☺

    Great video. I plan to get some Bhringaraj, hibiscus, and moringa. I used what I had on hand last night to make a hair oil and this is a great base. Olive oil, apricot oil, Jamaican black castor oil, neem oil, tea tree oil, Rosemary and orange essential oils, fenugreek powder, aloe vera powder, amla powder, brahmi, marshmallow root and horsetail. I also added a little bit of Cedarwood essential oil to help with scalp and follicle stimulation. I thought about a little cinnamon essential oil but I don't want to overpower it. Or irritate the children's scalp. Thanks for sharing this.

    You should use amber jars for storing your oil. Also use amber plastic applicator bottle s for when you use the oil. The amber color blocks the UV Ray's from sunlight.

    I just made this! I replaced the coconut oil measurements with olive oil and replaced the olive oil measurements with grapeseed oil. I used moringa powder instead of tea and added Bamboo tea. I added a little almond oil and also added 5 drops of tea tree oil & peppermint oil each. I hope that wasnt too much essential oils as I already added the 15 drops of lavender & rosemary oil each. I'll leave to infuse in a jar for a couple of weeks. I just hope I didnt get water in the mixture. I picked up a spoon so quick to stir it and didn't check if it was dry. Fingers crossed 🤞🏿Thanks so much. ❤ The reviews on your Etsy store are so good.

      Thank you! :) I use this oil every 3-4 days, so twice a week. I leave in on my scalp, massage and let it do its' thing as I go about my business lol :) No, the only time I wash it out is my next wash day (which is around every 3 weeks). A Leave-In Conditioner is best water based, so provide your hair with maximum moisture. Oil will never moisturise the hair but instead act as a sealant AFTER applying a Leave-In Conditioner. My personal favourite leave-in is by LottaBody. I hope that helps x

    Hello, I just bought a lot of this products to make my hair oil. I was just wondering if the double boiler method was neccesary or if the heat could kill some necessary nutrients. Am I better off leaving it to infuse for up to six weeks without heat. Thank you so much for your recipe!

    • @naturalbarnet2470
      @naturalbarnet2470  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Dorothy. Both methods work exactly the same; leaving for 6 weeks (a cold infusion) is simply a slower process 😊 As long as the heat is gentle, no nutrients are killed (which I why I emphasise to have the heat on a gentle simmer). It's also important for the bowl to not touch the water and rely on the heat from the steam for the same reason. This same method is what I've adapted from my chef days and it works amazingly 😊 Feel free to use whichever method you feel most comfortable with! Thank you!!

      Chioma Onwuanibe Hi Chioma, great question! Originally, I thought the same as the surface area is greater. However, I found that as long as the ingredients have been warmed through and left long enough to allow it to thoroughly penetrate and release into the infusion, the result will be the same. None of the ingredients are too large and non porous to not be 100% effective. Plus it makes the filtering process a million times easier!!! I applied the same method from how Oils and Vinegar reductions are infused (my background was as a chef) and the same method applied. I hope this answers your qstn? x

    I want to continue to infuse the oil for several weeks to months in a jar. Would I add the essential oils when I'm done simmering it on the stove and put it in the mason jar or do I add the essential oils after I open the jar back up when it has infused for several weeks? Also can I leave all the solid ingredients (fenugreek, burdock root etc.) to infuse for those several weeks. I also want to make bigger batches so I can just double the ingredients or are their some ingredients that are so potent that I shouldn't double it.

    • @naturalbarnet2470
      @naturalbarnet2470  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Essential Oils are best added when you're ready to use the Oil, so I would recommend adding them when you open the jar back up. Yes! The solid ingredients can be left in your blend. Naturally, the longer you leave it, the stronger the potency will be but it will not cause a negative effect to your hair (provided you have no allergies to any of the ingredients).
      If you wish to make bigger batches, I would add double the quanity of ingredients according to the Oils you are using. Just make sure you mix it every few days. Good luck!
