A note to everyone else out there. Get quality replacements parts, especially when it comes to sensors or ignition components. I made the mistake of buying a crank sensor from a generic parts store and actually paying double the cost of OEM, only to realize it was not compatible. Hi Alex, Im sorry I will write in English. My E90 was throwing a code for the crank sensor and would occasionally not start or had s very long crank, so I replaced the crank sensor which I got from a local parts store, it fixed the no start issue, but as soon as I would drive the car it would misfire and the same code returned. I then bought an OEM sensor, it was actually half the cost!! Putting the OEM sensor and the one from parts store next to each other you could see a slight hight difference and also the OEM sensor felt different on the magnetic side.. I Put the OEM sensor in, cleared the check engine light and my E90 runs like new.@@aleksandralexander6461 Hope this helps.

Please someone help with a suggestion . I have the code P0705 A Circuit Gear sign and battery light on . The car can start in all Positions P,R,D,N .and when it starts it doesnt show which gear the car on the dashboard. instead I get transmision sign with the exclamation mark in Orange and this is when I can drive the car almost normally and the car can go reverse and from second gear and up but with no first gear and parking sensors are not beeping nor reverse lights working .but if I dont see the transmision fault sign, the car go only in first gear up 20km ph and doest change to second gear and up and no reverse . When I was working on mine, I forgot to plug the fuel rail power back in and it did that. I have a e90 but there’s a big plastic wiring harness thing next to the injectors and this powers the injectors, it should snap into each injector
@@ACommenterOnTH-cam there’s a ground wire that goes to the frame of the car to the coil wiring harness, maybe check that, other than that Idk bc even if one coil wasn’t working the car would still turn on it just wouldn’t run right
@@krispytoast8804 there is only 1 coil that feeds power to the distributor. That coil is not sending spark to the distributor. They said if that coil does not send spark, then to check the crank sensor and the cam sensor, the crank sensor was replaced, this jeep does not have a cam sensor.

I have a 2006 E90 or 325i. Here's my situation, the Red Gear Symbol shows on my cluster display but I have no Check Engine light. Car starts easily but once in drive I have no power from a complete stop, and the car won't go past 3000 rpms. Once I get to a speed higher then 35mph I still don't have full acceleration power and I can't shift into Drive Sport but I can still get up to speeds above 120. Any experienced BMW owners who have the time to bless me with some insight it would be greatly appreciated. I'm a first time BMW owner. Who has learned very quickly after rebuilding my entire front end that wrong parts and or components can easily be purchased without really needing them. I don't want to over think as well as overspend on a issue without knowing as much as I can beforehand. Thanks for your time. Looking forward to reading all suggestions.
BMW Symptoms 2011 328i Crank, No start. Replaced battery, and starter, because it would not crank. It cranks now, but will not start. Unplugged IBS, still will not start. Unplugged Mass Airflow sensor, still will not start. Used scanner to operate fuel pump. Pump runs, and fuel rail pressure after cranking reads 73 psi, and holds. Checked for 15 minutes, still held to 70 psi. Used scan tool to activate all six injectors, I can hear them activate when turned on. Checked spark on number one ignition coil, spark is there. One code stored, CDA7 Message error (status, reverse gear, 0x3B0), DME receiver, FRM/LM transmitter. I erased the code, it comes back when scanned, most of the time. Tried spraying starter fluid into the throttle body, still wouldn’t start. Also, I can only crank the engine 5 or six times, and the battery gets low. The headlights always come on as soon as I turn the ignition on, even though they are turned the switch is in the off (0) position. I leave the charger connected. I have not changed any sensors yet, but was think about checking the crankshaft sensor next. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a '08 328xi Coupe. When I try to start the car, it will crank and not start, and sometime it will start and die after 2-3 seconds. On my scanner it's showing misfire cylinder 3 and 4. I replaced both ignition coils for cylinder 3 and 4, and nothing has changed. Could it be the crank shaft sensor? Also, would it show on the scanner wether the crank shaft sensor is faulty? Yes brother most likely the crankshaft position sensor. This sensor communicates with DME ECU And if its faulty or worn it won't tell the computer the correct Info. If the magnet in the sensor is bad car will automatically shut down within 2-5 seconds after start. I did this on my uncles bmw m3 , replaced sensor and coded it with actual bmw software. If done incorrectly the car won't know what's going on. Use Scanner with bmw software or NCS EXPERT ON a windows computer. The software i use is in German so yeah. U can translate but be very careful. Don't reset or move anything else than clearing the fault. The reason I use NCS is because I have learned German for more than 1 year now and im always on it so I know what it means. Just do it if you know what your doing if not leave it to the experts such as me or any tech that is certified.
You talking crap. The crankshaft sensor is underneath the starter and the starter is underneath the intake manifold. Not the top of the engine. You thinking camshaft sensors. But you can get to the crankshaft sensor from under the car. You remove the gravel plate and the reinforcement plate. Then you can get to it. This is actually the BMW prescribed method of replacing the crankshaft sensor. However, if you do it from below you are required to replace the 8 x 16mm reinforcement plate screws and they are not cheap. Maybe that is why people try to do it another way.
Hopefully someone sees this.. I have a 2004 BMW 325ci.. long story short it was sitting for a year so probably doesn't help but. After I got it started just needed simple jump and starts up every time now. Now here's the problem I'm confused about. When I first start it.. it runs really rough (no light) if I give it a little gas and keep it at around 1500-1800rpm for a min or 2 then it gets better. Once I start driving it drives just fine and accelerated just fine. Come to a stop sign idles fine for 5 seconds then gets rough again. The last few days I've been driving just to work it's good about 3/4 of the way there and then it stalls out on me randomly. (5 speed manual) and even if I take it out of gear and coast up to a light and slowly braking it can stall out on me. Starts right up every time.. then it seems like it's almost in limp mode again.. start driving and slowly accelerating then you feel it get power back and drives just fine again. Been getting worse and worse. I was a mechanic for 7 years before switching careers and this is just baffling me. Almost feels like a misfire or a huge vacuum leak. But no light. Now the light just turned on. Gotta get a scanner.

In case this helps anyone, it’s your solenoids. Not the transmission itself. You can do the job on jack stands. Parts are abt 330$ for OE

that sounds like it could be a problem with the vanos system, the seals on the camshaft could be worn, get it scanned and see what it says

My car always doesnt start while being hot. It always turns on when its cold. Meanwhile i go to the store after work, come back to the car and it doenst start. Need a solid 15-30 min to wait to get it started. Anyone can advise me about this problem?

I have a 2006 E90 or 325i. Here's my situation, the Red Gear Symbol shows on my cluster display but I have no Check Engine light. Car starts easily but once in drive I have no power from a complete stop, and the car won't go past 3000 rpms. Once I get to a speed higher then 35mph I still don't have full acceleration power and I can't shift into Drive Sport but I can still get up to speeds above 120. Any experienced BMW owners who have the time to bless me with some insight it would be greatly appreciated. I'm a first time BMW owner. Who has learned very quickly after rebuilding my entire front end that wrong parts and or components can easily be purchased without really needing them. I don't want to over think as well as overspend on a issue without knowing as much as I can beforehand. Thanks for your time. Looking forward to reading all suggestions.

Crank, No start.
Replaced battery, and starter, because it would not crank. It cranks now, but will not start. Unplugged IBS, still will not start. Unplugged Mass Airflow sensor, still will not start. Used scanner to operate fuel pump. Pump runs, and fuel rail pressure after cranking reads 73 psi, and holds. Checked for 15 minutes, still held to 70 psi. Used scan tool to activate all six injectors, I can hear them activate when turned on. Checked spark on number one ignition coil, spark is there. One code stored, CDA7 Message error (status, reverse gear, 0x3B0), DME receiver, FRM/LM transmitter. I erased the code, it comes back when scanned, most of the time. Tried spraying starter fluid into the throttle body, still wouldn’t start. Also, I can only crank the engine 5 or six times, and the battery gets low. The headlights always come on as soon as I turn the ignition on, even though they are turned the switch is in the off (0) position. I leave the charger connected. I have not changed any sensors yet, but was think about checking the crankshaft sensor next.
Any help would be appreciated.

Mine is idling rough. Generally lacking in power. Terrible mpg. Hopefully that's the problem.

I have a '08 328xi Coupe. When I try to start the car, it will crank and not start, and sometime it will start and die after 2-3 seconds. On my scanner it's showing misfire cylinder 3 and 4. I replaced both ignition coils for cylinder 3 and 4, and nothing has changed. Could it be the crank shaft sensor? Also, would it show on the scanner wether the crank shaft sensor is faulty? Thank you! Love your channel.

Yes brother most likely the crankshaft position sensor. This sensor communicates with DME ECU And if its faulty or worn it won't tell the computer the correct Info. If the magnet in the sensor is bad car will automatically shut down within 2-5 seconds after start. I did this on my uncles bmw m3 , replaced sensor and coded it with actual bmw software. If done incorrectly the car won't know what's going on. Use Scanner with bmw software or NCS EXPERT ON a windows computer. The software i use is in German so yeah. U can translate but be very careful. Don't reset or move anything else than clearing the fault. The reason I use NCS is because I have learned German for more than 1 year now and im always on it so I know what it means. Just do it if you know what your doing if not leave it to the experts such as me or any tech that is certified.

You talking crap. The crankshaft sensor is underneath the starter and the starter is underneath the intake manifold. Not the top of the engine. You thinking camshaft sensors. But you can get to the crankshaft sensor from under the car. You remove the gravel plate and the reinforcement plate. Then you can get to it. This is actually the BMW prescribed method of replacing the crankshaft sensor. However, if you do it from below you are required to replace the 8 x 16mm reinforcement plate screws and they are not cheap. Maybe that is why people try to do it another way.
Hopefully someone sees this.. I have a 2004 BMW 325ci.. long story short it was sitting for a year so probably doesn't help but. After I got it started just needed simple jump and starts up every time now. Now here's the problem I'm confused about. When I first start it.. it runs really rough (no light) if I give it a little gas and keep it at around 1500-1800rpm for a min or 2 then it gets better. Once I start driving it drives just fine and accelerated just fine. Come to a stop sign idles fine for 5 seconds then gets rough again. The last few days I've been driving just to work it's good about 3/4 of the way there and then it stalls out on me randomly. (5 speed manual) and even if I take it out of gear and coast up to a light and slowly braking it can stall out on me. Starts right up every time.. then it seems like it's almost in limp mode again.. start driving and slowly accelerating then you feel it get power back and drives just fine again. Been getting worse and worse. I was a mechanic for 7 years before switching careers and this is just baffling me. Almost feels like a misfire or a huge vacuum leak. But no light. Now the light just turned on. Gotta get a scanner.
