    This was cool. You more than perhaps any speedrunner remind me of a professional athlete in that you have specialized your entire life. Everybody is familiar with those clips of tiger woods playing golf at 4 yrs old, you just play smb3 all day every day like it's your job because it is. In the old days great athletes whom played a lot of sports were the goats. Then in the 80s a few great athletes specialized in one sport, not just the athletics, but also intellectualism of it. They became the goats. You not only are the best at one tiny little thing in this world, but your so good you have brought some awareness among the population to this little corner of the internet.

    Isn't it insane how 1 decision can completely change the path of your life, like what if you decided to not take the chance and still to washing dishes and as much as you hated it you took the safe route and it changed everything, I mean you would prob still be a happy person but you wouldn't be the streamer we all know and love. I think about that in my own life a lot, messes with you head sometimes when you think about something you could've did but didn't or vice versa, according to string theory there are infinite timelines that diverge with every choice we make and every possible outcome has played out in some way in one of those timelines.. damn... ok my head hurts lol! I'm glad you decided to completely follow your dream and make it a reality, not many people can say that. 😋👍

    You talk about not using an Emulators for practice. I understand the USB controllers were different but did the games run so different on emulator that it wasn't a viable practice or test option?

    • @Gameboygenius
      @Gameboygenius ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, in particular lag. Even with a good setup, an emulator is likely to have maybe 2-3 frames of effective lag compared to a real NES with a CRT. That wouldn't necessarily be a problem on its own. But it becomes a problem if you train your muscle memory on it and then go back to console. Especially for frame perfect or near frame perfect tricks like the various clips, P speeds etc.

    • @Gameboygenius
      @Gameboygenius ปีที่แล้ว

      And to add to add to that, for practice there's a practice ROM that you can run on a flashcart, which allows you to skip to any level with a full inventory. So this simplifies practice without using an emulator.

    • @Andersam
      @Andersam ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Gameboygenius hmm. I guess when every frame counts it would matter. Makes me wonder how the NES classic holds up for speed runs. I know those are just emulators licensed by Nintendo.
