    Muay Thai (aka Thai Boxing) is Thailand's National Sport and woven into the fabric of this country. Find out what the life of a Muay Thai fighter is like in Thailand. In Chapter 1, we will journey to a Muay Thai training camp to see and feel exactly what it's like for the life of a fighter during the early years. The dedication and work these kids put in on a daily basis will surely amaze you and hopefully show you a side of this sport that makes you think of it in a new light.

    Having a keen interest in mixed martial arts & Mai Thai this was great to see. When I was in Thailand I was led to believe by locals that traditional Mai Thai was being adopted less & less by the younger generations & many fights are more theatre/WWE type affairs or children fights to entertain tourists rather than real bouts with young adults.
    This was some very nice insight to the traditional fighters growth.
    Thanks

    • @acewongsawad6910
      @acewongsawad6910 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You know, while it's probably true to some degree that SOME younger generation of Thais doesn't actually get into Muay Thai like the generations before them. But, that really has more to do with the evolution of the modern world, people's interests, technologies, and life opportunities. In this video, one of the boys interviewed was sent there by his family from Surin province to study Muay Thai, go to school, earn a living as a boxer and send money home to help his family. Once he's older, more experienced, and feels that it is what he wants to do then that's probably gonna be his path. But no doubt that it's a spectator's sport so of course, you'll see people with some skills showcasing Muay Thai for tourists to make a living. But, if you want to see real fights in BKK, you should go to Lumpini Stadium for Muay Thai matches (after COVID).

    I remember way back in the 80s or very early 90s once in a great while they would air fights from Thailand on US tv.
    Sometimes the video rental stores would have VHS tapes of Muay Thai but they were hard to find. I'd watch them many times. It was a real treat to be able to see the fights in the US and many times they were even in black and white.
    Now with youtube we can watch as much as we want!

    To be a pro boxer is not easy, you need to be discipline and dedicate yourself to this career. You win some, you lose some. But you live , you live to fight another day! I salute all the fighters.

    Great storytelling Chris! And thanks for shedding light on muay thai for folks outside Thailand as well. I can't wait to get back there to be honest. And this time like you said, I'll definitely consider going to see a muay thai fight too. Love your channel too! Sending much laughter from here in Singapore!

    Now this.. this is a perfect documentary of what got stuck in my mind the moment I joined a Muay Thai gym. One of the trainers mentioned it. It's not just some sport.
    The routine before and after school would make spoiled a** kids cry. Those little ones are definitely strong-willed and strong-minded.

    Another superb video ! Just fantastic cant wait for the next video ! You are far and away the best Vlogger on TH-cam ! Some of the other over fed Vloggers could do with a day or 2 of Muay Thai . Maybe then they might learn about giving something back to Thailand. Thanks Chris.

    You never dissapoint man, yet another gem. It is a brutal training they get, but it is nr 1 sport in Thailand and every day on TV. A way of living and for some a way out of poverty. I have witnessed some awesome fights in the stadiums and enjoyed the vibe there, a mix of exotic smells, that mystical flute music, people gambling, shouting and two blokes punching and kicking eachother. I loved it. Too bad they suffer from current situation...
