Mel, I love flying 777-300er so much, I once flew United from New Orleans to San Francisco; by connecting in Newark so I could fly on the 777-300er. Even though it was only a domestic first-class flight, I loved every second of it. I can't get over how massive those engines are. I think I would geek out if I ever got to fly Polaris on a Europe flight.
Hello, how are you? I am a regular viewer of your TH-cam channel. I came here to say that- Your content is always engaging and incredibly well-presented!" Good luck to you
The narration was excellent as usual Mel👍🏾 For my $$ United Polaris sits on a 6 out of 10 or just above avg for Int'l carriers. Your review was fair and good enough to convince me "not" to go out of my way to fly United Polaris😄
I was pleasantly surprised how decent Polaris was, for the same reasons as yours. It served me well BNE-LAX. I did have to use 3 of their wipes to clean all the surfaces in the bulkhead seat because I wasn’t going to look at those stains for 13 hours, but after I took care of that everything was fine. Agree, great bedding, and I learned the trick from TH-cam to use the blue patterned thin blanket like a fitted sheet over the mattress pad and use the thicker white blanket on top. It doesn’t look like you asked for the mattress pad. Be sure to do that next time, Mel. It really ups the experience! I even got pajamas since it was a long flight 💙🛌 As always, a really nice video. Thx!
Right?!? There’s comfort in knowing what to expect! Thanks for the bedding tips. They didn’t have pads on my flight (I asked), but next time I may try using the patterned blanket as a pad! :)
I had the same pre landing meal from GVA to EWR two weeks ago and it was terrible, I think they forgot to even toast the sandwich. Still love Polaris though!
Love United Polaris. I was able to complete a round the world itinerary this fall flying business class most of the way. Swiss Air, Gulf Air, Eva Air then ANA. Swiss was good but the seats are really old. Gulf Air is the best I've ever experienced, simply outstanding. I personally, was not a fan of Eva or ANA, it seems the Asian carriers keep there cabins hot and no individual air vents. If it had to do it over again I would have preferred Polaris to any of these products except Gulf Air. As you said Mel, Polaris may not be the best at any one thing but for a consistent, comfortable flight I find it hard to beat especially from the US.
Yes, a cool, comfortable cabin is hard to beat! I have a few of those warm cabin airlines in my near future, and I must say, it has me nervous 😅 Also, that’s great you did an around the world trip! I’m doing that next May and can’t wait!!
I really have been enjoying United. They are working towards overtaking Delta as the US's premier carrier. United is the US's flagship carrier due to the amount of international flights. Just need to get that food improved a tad and things will be great.
I've been a regular UA Polaris flyer post-covid. UA goes where I need to go from a geographical standpoint, especially its Asian & Pacific Island destinations. They are the only US airline operating out of Dubai, and are the least expensive non-stop business option out of there. Emirates & Etihad also offer non-stop US service, but their biz class prices are insane. However, yeah, quality is not their strong point. Flying 6-8 transatlantic DXB-NYC 14 hr segments annually really develops a familiarity with the airline.
I did and they didn’t have any. Asking can work once in a while, but for the shorter transatlantic flights, they usually don’t carry pajamas on board at all. But it never hurts to ask, right? :)
I really struggle to see how it's actually possible to have decent French fries on a plane. You can't deep fry them and microwaving them or using steam reheating just makes them disgusting. Pity you missed the lounge, because I've only heard good things about UAL Polaris lounges.
I agree about the fries! I don’t think there is a way - which makes you wonder why they ever serve them, right? Regarding the Polaris Lounge, I skipped the generic lounge in Brussels but did go to the Polaris Lounge at IAD during my layover. And you’re right - the Polaris lounges are great! I’ll be doing a review of that lounge soon! :)
one thing to remember catering from Europe is better but United meal presentation is horrible I hate everything on one try to me thats premium economy and keep in mind we pay for business class the second meal was economy class not business class its not worth to fly business with US carriers!
I totally agree with you about the food, but for me, personally, sleeping well is worth more to me than the food. I enjoy the airlines that provide great food in business class, but if the cabin is too hot or the seat and bedding are not comfortable, that’s much more upsetting to me than subpar food 🤷🏻♀️
I flew Polaris last month and they brought the appetizer and salad out first. Then they came back later with the main course. I found the catering to be fine both ways and was far better than what I experienced on Lufthansa. That said, catering is a weak spot that I wish they would improve. Going towards Europe I typically eat in the Polaris Lounge and then decline the dinner onboard so I can maximize sleep time. Why do I still choose United? Their route network is very extensive and there is a United Club at my home airport. Plus when you buy Polaris you get domestic first class included on all of your connections.
Thanks for taking us along! I felt like I was right there flying with you! Now I really want to smell their hot towels.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! 😁

Now that’s dedication 👏👏 I hope you get to fly Polaris on the 777-300er to Europe soon - you’ll love watching the engine from the window!
Very nice review and very fair in my opinion. I don’t understand serving the Croque without sauce. That’s the best part.
Thanks for watching! Honestly, they should just called it a grilled ham and cheese sandwich, because that’s all it was (and a bad one at that) 😅
I think your point about "consistency" is spot-on. 👌
I’m glad you understood what I meant. There’s just something comforting about knowing what to expect imo 😁
I normally fly with United from ORD - BRU every summer to visit my grandmother but this year, I will be flying out of IAD. Love your videos!
Brussels is such a lovely city! And so nice that you get to visit your grandmother regularly ❤️
Yay! I've been looking for a female perspective on travel. Nicely done. I subscribed.
I’m so glad to hear that and happy to have you here! ❤️
Literally same lol I'm flying this next week so I wanted to try and get a perspective on what to expect and there were so many videos to choose from
Always fantastic! Always thorough! Keep it up. From another Mel!
Aww thanks Mel!! 😁
What an excellent, informative video! Thanks so much, Mel!!
Aww thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! ❤️
Loved this fling. Especially Saks Fifth Avenue products!!!!
I’m so glad!! Thanks for watching!

You're welcome and thank you. What's your favorite aircraft you've been on so far?
Very nicely done trip report. A calm and relaxing feel to it.
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thank you! 😁

Nice Cabin.Great Video And Info
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!:)

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought it was subpar. But I agree with you - I’m still happy with Polaris overall!

@@MelsMilesandPoints Such a cool experience. Enjoy! I'm looking forward to the videos.
@@WRTH-cam326 thanks!! Hopefully I’ll survive the heat 😂

I think we are on the exact same page. I love United but just wish they would improve their food game 🙏🏻

Definitely not the best, but there’s just something comforting and reassuring about knowing what to expect, right? 😄
Yep, flying internationally to/from the US, no one else comes close to United’s route network. I fly them to/from Hong Kong
I always wipe everything down. You can’t rely on the cleaning team. Even if it looks clean it’s not. Use sanitizing wipes.
So true!! 😅
Did you ask for mattress cushion and pajama set? I heard you have to ask for it.
I did and they didn’t have any. Asking can work once in a while, but for the shorter transatlantic flights, they usually don’t carry pajamas on board at all. But it never hurts to ask, right? :)
I booked a 19 hour Singapore Airlines flight. The problem is I am a very loud snorer.
Haha I’m sure you’re not the only one! 😂

I like a good eater.
😅😂
You get to do their job and you don't even get paid. What a shame!
You mean when I cleaned the mess? True haha, but at least I could relax after that 😅😂
Both meals look very unappealing; the presentation is far from what I would hope for in Business Class.
The first meal was much better than the second, but their meal service is definitely not their strong suit 😅
