@@gordonrichardson2972 Ah, thank you for that; that’s exactly why I came to the comment section. @cwamason, because it sounds backwards, Kelsey is referring to having to do an autoland *because* the autoland certification is expired. @@gordonrichardson2972That makes sense. Thanks for the explanation! I initially took it as some instrumentation certification had expired so they couldn’t use it. Therefore they had to do an autoland instead. That didn’t make any sense at all and I was very confused.
@cwamason, just as with pilots, aircraft need to be certified to perform certain operations and procedures but also 'current' on the calendar to be eligible to use them legally. 'Autoland' or Cat3 instrument approaches are for extreme low visibility/ceiling conditions and basically the autopilot flies the plane all the way to touchdown when the pilots can't see the runway well or at all until they're on the ground. Autoland approaches must be performed periodically by authorized aircrews in what are basically practice conditions in fair weather to verify the software and onboard equipment and instrumentation are working properly, and that pilots authorized to shoot Cat3 approaches are also current. Pilots will ask for 'practice autoland' while inbound and talking with ATC. When conditions at the airport allow, this also lets ATC verify that ground-based navigation aids in the Instrument Landing System are working properly, and for approach and tower personnel to practice their parts in the cooperative procedure. Strictly routine.

Cool. I used to work for several airlines in my 20's and then refueled commercial and private aircraft. Every once in a while a Super Guppy would fly in. Looking at your 747 kind of reminded me of that. Thanks for your videos.
PIC of what is arguably the coolest bird in the sky. I remember hearing you talk about her in an old, old podcast and never thought I'd see you fly her. Thanks for the awesome video.
Kelseyyyyy, I’m so happy for you!!! How exciting to be back with your special girl ❤️💨 This is one of your best vlogs, and the hotel gaffes were actually hilarious because they’re so relatable 😅 Have yourself a beautiful week 😘
Agreed 🎯💯🤩😁✈️🛩🛬🛫
Extremely relatable--we just had to swap rooms for a third time this stay! And naturally, the issue revealed itself at 9pm when my partner needs to get up for work at 5:30am...
Flying a dreamlifter is big on my bucket list. Thanks Kelsey for the various videos.
Man, this video was so cool. Cool editing, cool content and yeah, Italy... And yeah, freaking awesome plane. Also really cool to see someone flying that beast with a hoodie on... Totally bad ass!
So cool to see that plane fly in real life. Even cooler to think I may "know" one of the pilots!!
This was the best video to date i think! The punchy transitions were slick and the music was apt. Oh yeah, no big deal being PIC on the dreamlifter. awesome.
One of these days when your older, retired and sitting down with your grandkids and they ask "What did you do when you were younger, granddad?" - You're going to have some incredible videos to show to them.
That is your best video ever. The incorporation of action shots of the jet transition your segments very well.
I know you said that you wouldn't make as many vlogs this year, and how time consuming they are, but they are sooooooooo interesting! thank you for making them.
Loved this video... a real insight into how chaotic your life is at times..😂. Who needs to travel when you can sit and watch you hop around the world. Really enjoy your content.👍
Glad to wake up today and see another vlog from you. I was missing these for so long. Also, you are extremely lucky to get to fly the dream lifter.
Captain of the Dreamlifter!
Top of your game!
Congrats, Kelsey. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.
Keep the great content coming.
That is just awesome!
"Does this fuselage make me look fat?"
-Dreamlifter
"Naa. Looks fine to me."-Beluga
😂
"Can't even tell" -superguppy
Tee Hee Hee 😉😁🤣😂🤣💕💞
THICC?
Great ep, like the simplistic low key vibe. it's nice seeing a day in the life of you, Cap. Happy trails 🎉
your videos have inspired me to get back into flight simming after i finish moving, thank you for your great content!
AWESOME! When I saw that Dreamlifter.....what a great surprise!! Thanks for sharing. Cool video, everything about it!!
Living the American dream while flying the awesome Dreamlifter. Love these 74Vlogs! ✈
You are a terrific host pilot narrator. Great job Captain Kelsey.
I was studying the EASA Oxford ATPL book on Human Performance and they have an entire section dedicated to sleep which includes the effects of jet lag( flying eastwards being harder than westwards ), planning sleep over a 24 hr layover, disruption of sleep etc....and lo and behold Captain Kelsey has a practical video...
I love this format. You are so unpretentious. It makes you a joy to watch.
As much as I love all of your videos, the work vlogs are by far my favorite. The DreamLifter?! You are a seriously talented/blessed/elite pilot.
Another great show Kelsey. This is what we want to see. Entertaining to the last second. Loved it. Thanks for all the hard work putting this video together.
I watch because you genuinely love what you do and that love is infectious. Thx!
If this is the work of your new editor it’s fantastic. The transitions and musical accompaniment seem new. 😍 If not, great job Kelsey! 😂
Agreed 🎯💯🤩👍👍
Sensational video Kelsey! Even the 747 lifter?? Great to travel the world on your videos and a bonus with your sense of humour and 'lumps and bumps' of international travel. (Having to change hotel rooms.
I did the air start on the other one yesterday when it was in Anchorage. I work for Swissport.
Kelsey, thanks for bringing us along for the ride on the beautifully unique DreamLifter. I felt that thousand yard stare at 1:59 when told you missed breakfast. 😐
IKR...!?!?😉😳👁👁🤣😂🤣😂💕💞
After watching the video in full, I had to go right back to that 2:00 mark just for that! 😂 I see how he starts looking around, like A) This is either a prank or B) Chain of Command-who is the next highest-ranking person on deck that I can speak to about getting some chow.
Goldilocks and the 747 Dreamlifter Trip... This bunk is too cold, this bunk is too hot...
This video is juuust riiiight
Just the way it goes sometimes!
Kind of miss seeing the Boeing jets being assembled & tested & upgrades done in Renton, Kent, Everett
@@KnawedOne Hopefully again soon. One of my gaming friends is affected by the strike and he says they're supposed to be voting on a new contract offer tomorrow.
We all see what you did there! 😁
Your videos have leveled up in a BIG way since i last watched 1 year ago.
Very entertaining. And what a beautiful bird!
Kelsy, you are on of a kind, you enjoy the good things of life but when you have to fly, you are still this mellow guy, kudo to you.......
Kelsey, your editing skills are so good. Great video and thank you for sharing!
I live in CHS and I love driving home sometimes and seeing this big bird come in over the interstate. It's a beautifully amazing plane. Thanks for sharing!
I work at the airport here in CHS and it was pretty cool to know when that took off the other night that was him taxi-ing to the run way in front of the delta ramp
I see you finally got your upgrade! Congratulations!!! I’m super jealous and need to get back behind the controls!
love your videos man. Seeing you in the pilot seat of the dream lifter is awesome!
10:26 That Epic musical score in the background was perfect for that footage! Perfect timing of that score as well!
One of your best and most interesting episodes! Thanks!
Love the worshipful music while showing the Dreamlifter and the ominous music covering the missing breakfast. This is an actual movie!
Yeah, he has great taste in music. Like at the end… “Knocking on Heaven’s Door” while flying a DreamLifter.
They almost look like flying whales. 😊
Absolutely AGREED 🎯💯🤩😁📺🎬📹📼
That's a pretty cool Bird to fly. I say you're one of the coolest pilots out there since you fly the Dream Lifter. Thanks for sharing a little bit of the Dream lifter with us.
Awesome video. Kelsey's focus has not changed at all over the years. It's always about a free breakfast and snacks.
Kelsey, you are an absolute legend! Love your videos, been watching for years! You work so hard and you’re so dedicated to your job! Be proud and keep it going! Much love from the U.K.
This deserves so many more subs!
You must really love your job. All the sleep disruption, different beds, noise and people shows you have inter strength. Not shaken by these distractions, shows you have a cool head and a drive to get the job done in the safest manner. I hope you are getting paid (big) for the hard work. Love the videos, and that too is a lot of work.....keep it flying.
Kelsey you are hands down my favorite TH-camr, all of your content is entertaining and high quality, keep up the good work and keep the blue side up! ✈️
That was awesome Kelsey!! I wasn't surprised as you have flown the Dreamlifter before -- although not as the CAPTAIN!! 😉 I've watched (on flight radar 24) the Dreamlifter fly from SC to AK (PANC). Such a cool aircraft. Thanks for taking us along on your journey! You're the best! 😉💯👍✈✈✈
This is one of your outstanding videos. Italy and back in 12 minutes, and I feel like I've been there with you. Four bars, an excellent plane, and doing what you love. I'm so glad you're doing well.
That was so cool. She's quite the lady. Thanks for bringing us along!
I just moved away from South Carolina. I miss seeing that bridge. I'm glad you got to see it again!
This man has done EVERYTHING right in life to get up to this point. Keep up the amazing work!
What a wonderful few days, getting to go to Italy and flying the that gorgeous plane. Thanks Kelsey for sharing your memories with us
Another great video. Pretty cool seeing a cargo plane. I wish you would have shown the cargo setup thou. Yeah it's probably boring but I would have liked to see it anyway.
The cargo portion of the aircraft is unpressurized, and there is no access from the flight deck.
I used to take Le Jeune Road passing by Miami Airport on my way to work to be able to catch a glimpse of the Dreamlifter. It was a complete treat when it was parked on the eastern side of the airport.
Thank you Kelsey for taking us along.
