  • The most famous howler is probably the wolf. The GOLDEN JACKAL's howl is
less well known, but its vocalizations are as rich as wolves. They have
large vocal repertoire and a wide selection of howl shapes. Golden
Jackals (coyote) howl begins with 2-3 low-pitched calls that rise to
high-pitched calls; like a protracted and eerie combination
of screaming and yelping steady long notes ending in falls
that seem to drift away into the night.
Jackals (coyote) use a wide inventory of howls to communicate with the members
of its pack; Howling in social interactions to reinforce family bonds, during
courtship and greetings. Howling to give warning call when presence of
large carnivores is detected as well as to establish territorial status.
It is actually the jackal's mode of communicating with other
members of its pack, raising its head skywards as it does so.
A jackal / coyote / surrounded by a pack has a very different howl to
a lone voice crying in the woods, and a duet with a mate
does not match the chorus howl made with the new pups
raising their tiny heads to the sky.
Jackals are surrounded by superstitions across many cultures due
to the eerie howls. The superstitious are known to regard their
howling as ominous, portending misfortune and even death.
Jackal / coyote / sound may be frightening to those who hear it for the
first time. but after a while it turns into a beautiful melody
    - especially when listening to their live performances.
    THE JACKAL / Coyote
Jackals are medium-sized omnivorous mammals of the family Canidae ,
that includes 35 species of dogs, wolves, coyotes, jackals and foxes.
Jackals consist of three species of small to medium-sized carnivores,
namely, black-backed jackal, side-striped jackal and the golden jackal.
The black-backed and side-striped jackals are closely related to each other,
whereas the larger golden jackal is more closely related to wolves and coyotes.
Black-Backed Jackal: Black-backed jackals are typically what we see on African
Wildlife documentaries. They have golden fur with a silverblack strip running
along their backs. Black backed jackals are the bravest in their family, as
they have evolved to compete with the big cats and hyenas of Africa.
Side-Striped Jackal: Side striped jackals features a silver coloration on its back
and dark black stripes on its sides. The side-striped jackal prefers woodland or
forest habitats, mostly living in Africa's bushlands and mountains.
Golden Jackal { Indian Jackal ) : The largest and most widespread of the jackals.
There are up to seven different subspecies of the golden jackal
and it features a tan-golden coloration on its coat.
    THE GOLDEN JACKAL is native to Eurasia;;
closely related to gray wolf and coyote
than other jackal species native to Africa.
They have the fox's small face, long ears and delicate legs. The jackal’s body
length varies from 70 to 80 cm, weight being between 8 to 14 kg and lifespan
of 14 -16 years. Golden Jackal are found in the variety of habitats: in green
    forests, grasslands, semi-urban areas.
Golden jackals (coyote) have a flexible diet. Both a predator and scavenger, the jackal
is very adaptable to new terrains with the ability to exploit food ranging from
fruit and insects to small mammals.
Like all animals, they play an important role in the ecosystem, especially by
eating animal carrion. They are often called "nature's cleaners".
Jackals / coyote/ are intelligent, social and monogamous animals mating for life.
They stick to one partner and play equal role in raising their pups.
Jackal pairs are highly synchronized and work together to hunt
and raise their pups. In most jackal families, there are one or
two adult members called helpers. Helpers are jackals who
stay with the parents for a year after reaching sexual maturity,
without breeding, to help take care of the next litter.
Pups start hunting at around 6 months, but parents
take care of them as long as they need it.
Golden Jackals - with very keen sense of hearing and smell
    - hunt alone, in pairs or in pack. When hunting in a pack,
the dominant jackal leads the group.
Mainly nocturnal, they can be active in both day and night.
When they live near urban areas, they are strictly nocturnal
and their survival depends on having good cover where
they hide during the day. However, in wilderness areas far
from human habitation, they are active during the day.
    Territory - scent marking:
Golden Jackals are territorial animals and have well-developed
communication system. A single pack member or a pair, often
patrols the territory they inhabit. Their territorial behaviour
involves patrolling, scent marking and scratching the ground
    - leaving a visual mark of their territory.
Direct encounters between neighbouring jackals at territory
borders can be aggressive and involve repeated chases.

Harmony of nature. Indeed, they're the little brothers of wolves. And yes, many believe jackals are bad, but they are really beautiful creatures and they play an important scavanging role in the ecosystem. Thanks for viewing.

Well said: Earth calling "with nature". Tryed to compare this with the jackal's calling.. But seems better I compare this words of yours with the earth situation - the situation we put the nature and all the environment. Yes, the earth really calls us, the human beings: dont stay away from nature, dont destroy it coz it means you are destroying yourselves, you are part of part of nature... Seems we are still so far away and we do not hear nothing..
Sorry man, I'm a kinda full when this subject is triggered:)
I am ok how are you? Hope you are fine too. Sorry, that I am delayed with my respond, you know it.. In this 2021, unfortunately I was not able to go to the same place - coz of the pandemy I was at home for one and half years so I got to work a bit. But I still have some parts to publish from the last years 11 nights camping. I guess next one will be in the very beginning of the new year - working on it. Take care, now I'll check yr channel and All The Best in the coming New Year. Happy 2022.

@@withnature250 So happy to read you again :) , i was worried. I agree with your words. When one is living long time at nature, really learns to appreciate the treasure we have around us. People living at cities is gradually distanced of nature, and they value it less, because they know it less. Actually people is spending thousand millions to go to far planets ... to gather resources there ... when they could spend all that time and resources to improve our planet, they could do it. Thank you for the good wishes, i wish you all the best, friend. Enjoy the natural places you have near, even if is not your special place, surely there are a lot of precious places, nature is everywhere, just need patience to watch it. I tell you a curiosity ;) , while drawing the little lion of my last video, i was recalling your jackal's video :) , i tried to draw the tenderness and heart of animals. Hope you are ok, all the best!!

    • @withnature250
      @withnature250  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Ray Cody. Agree. Of course nobody is against - we can and have to spend effort to improve our limits for new discoveries in different planets. But seems or at leats looks like we spend more energy to such adventures than solving problems in our planet. We still have so many problems, we can not even protect the environment from ourselves _ pollution, climate change... So sad to see we are about to leave such a world to the next generations...
Hey, glad to hear you tryed to recall the jackal's video while drawing the lion,, really glad to hear this. Finally, in couple days I am planning to finish with my 3rd part (11 nights adventure) work and upload it.
Another scary video for so many:) (actually all is nature..and natural)
      Stay safe.

      @withnature250  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I was so lucky to capture this. Their lair was just on the other side of the lake (just across from the campsite - about 50mt away), so the central theme of the 4-part video story was about this family with their two little cubs. I've captured it in the evening hours, probably he was giving message to it's pack members...or as you said: his two little pups show up next to him right after the howling.

@@withnature250 what most impressed me was that the did not perceive you as danger, they just felt curiosity for your presence, but no fear, animals are wise and feel when a person has no intentions to hurt them. Yes, i have been all life at nature, then many times i can understand the meaning of how they communicate

This is so right. There are so many examples when man and wild animal becomes close - even friends. They are wiser that we imagine and their sensitivity is more developed. And I felt exactly same things, especially in my last camping there. Between us there was just the lake - about 30mt - and they were so cushy all the time. I don't know wheter they remember me from my previous campings in there but I am sure I've been observed by them for some time. In my last days in there one of them even approached so close and she was so cool. I managed to film her, which is at the 4th and last part of the series - and I still do not know when I'll be able to release it, still working on it.

@@withnature250 I answer you, because i have been beside many wild animals. They have an extra sense, they perceive which are your intentions, if you want damage them or not. When they see you first time, they analyze and feel if you can be a danger, like they perceived you were in peace with nature, and only with good intentions, they trusted you
