Central Europe has own native predators such as gray wolves, brown bears, lynxes and eagles. Golden Jackals are alien, invasive, pests from Middle East and very problematic to farmers aswell.
Where did you get that? Every single source says that golden jackal is "Canis aureus" as it is in Canis genus with closest relatives being coyote and grey wolf. Never heard of "Prolupus" in my life.
@ainsleyfowl1744, the only eight extant species of the Canis genus are the Grey Wolf (Canis lupus (cladistically including the Domestic Dog (Canis lupus familiaris))), the White Wolf (Canis albus), the Sea Wolf (Canis crassodon), the Eastern Wolf (Canis lycaon), the Red Wolf (Canis rufus), the Pale-Footed Wolf (Canis pallipes), the New Guinea Singing Dog (Canis hallstromi) and the Dingo (Canis dingo), while the ethiopian golden wolf, common golden wolf, golden jackal, and coyote are relocated to two separate genera, Flavocyon for both the ethiopian golden wolf and common golden wolf, where their scientific names are now Flavocyon simensis and Flavocyon lupaster respectively and Prolupus for both the golden jackal and coyote, where their scientific names are now Prolupus aureus and Prolupus latrans respectively, thus rendering the Canis genus as polyphyletic.
