I'm glad to get a chance to see this game, I wanted to know a bit more about it before deciding if it was worth a purchase. It looks pretty good, albeit I'd probably have to take some time to memorize the controls a bit lol. By the way, in case it helps anyone, not only is this game available on steam, but you can also find it on Good Ol' Games (www.gog.com). GOG is pretty good about, well, old games. Hence the name. XD
You know Vanda M'giia's last name always struck me as odd considering the whole M'(insert rest of surname here) thing always seemed like it was primarily a Catian thing. I always wondered if M'giia was originally supposed to be Caitian before they just decided to go with Andorian for some reason or another.
I think there should be a 24th century (TNG/DS9/VOY era) version of this game, with one difference being that the crew would be expanded by one. Besides the Captain, the crew would consist of the Executive Officer (or First Officer), Chief Engineer, Operations Officer (Data and Harry Kim's position), Flight Control Officer (combined Helmsman/Navigator), Security/Tactical Officer, and Science Officer. The Captain, XO, and Conn would wear the red Command Division color, the Engineer, Ops, and Tactical would wear the gold Operations Division color, and the Science Officer would wear the blue Sciences Division color. I still haven't figured out what the gender ratio for the cadets would be, but the Captain and First Officer would always be opposing (male captain/female XO, or female captain/male XO).
I think the fellow's family might live outside the Federation. Plus all the non-cannon stuff from games to books have money in it, so it's up to the viewer to decide.
I just bought a new version of this game online as one of the original CDS just broke, after inserting the new CDs the PC Cd ROM s won’t read it, it says “insert CD one” but the disc is not readable did I just bought a bootleg copy or my CD ROM drive is no longer working? help!
Money exists, even in the 23rd and 24th Centuries, just not in the Federation. Gold Pressed Latinum is the de facto official currency outside the Federation. Look at Bajor, Cardassia, Qo'nos, Ferenginar, and a slew of others all use Latinum
I usually used Constitution. I found the game absolutely lies to you about the scenario becoming more difficult the more powerful the vessel. Either that, or the difficulty didn't scale enough to counter the greater firepower of the Constitution.
@@jonathonbartos5420 On the PC version at least, whenever I chose the Constitution class, multiple mines would open fire on you as soon you warped into the system. That doesn't seem to happen with the Oberth.
"Mine destroyed, Captain." That does bring back memories...
Disable... 2nd mine controller.
The admiral voice is a tad too theatrical to explain key controls :D

I remember certifiably ingame’s video on the trill Mentioning that they were a part of the Federation by this time

Not when I played this. I used a keyboard. I've found a flight/joystick since then, however. The game is playable with either one.
Some games are best left dead. This one and Klingon "Hide&Seek" come to mind. This game is about as exciting as a Tholian lecture about DS-9.
NOTE: Using antimatter warheads does not have a disabling mode. Use weapons of mass destruction carefully,
I fell in love with Vandaa 1:39
I played the hell out of this game back in the day. So fun!

One of my fave games. More fun and immersive than bridge commander even tho it is less accurate.
Yay first mission, so many memories :)

I really don't manage to fire a single torpedo! I hope I'll find out how to do this soon, cause the game seem to be so cool and it just doesn't work!

Really Jeffery Corin s and these Rumors? What do they really mean?
is it possible to buy this on Amazon for the Mac? I gotta have this game. Forester is funny and charming.
+theQuestion626 You can get it on Steam.

There's a Sega 32X version as well. They all have certain similarities, but differences as well (the PC version's FMV sequences being the biggest).
I often chose the Oberth, since it's the weakest ship, it allows one to learn how to play when at the disadvantage.

The admirals looks at the end is so weird... as if he forgot his text or some hot crew member was walking by xD
The german localization of those cutscenes was so dumb at times.
wait since when can a star ship tracter something at warp speed even in picards time they cant do that
Yes they can. A DS9 episode had a runabout tow another runabout at warp and a Cardassian ship was towed at warp by a runabout.
@@chrismc410 Indeed; you need whatever it is you are towing to be in your warp-bubble
iI have to ask does the game run well on keyboard and mouse or will it run better with a joystick.
it can run good on keyboard but joystick is superior in these games.
@@balfanghellfire That sounds like you're playing a fighter in the game and not a big spaceship.
Reminds me of X-Wing
You have a joystick?
Maybe they meant in terms of resources.
I have this game on steam I just don't know how to make the screen adjustments does anyone know how to do that?
wealthiest colonies? I thought money didn't exist.
Oh, wait, in the 24th century.
Money still does in other cultures, though if you were implying the Federation planets you're probably correct. XD
Well The Saying Mine Destroyed Captain Over And Over Can Get Really Enoying
I thought this was only on SNES
whts wrong with the phaser sound?
Most likely a technical limitation. They couldn't do the actual phaser so they had to make due with generic laser shots.
why when ANYONE sits in the Star Trek Captains chair they put on exactly the same Kirk expression?!
I never made it too far in this game
I only got up to the third mission or so.
Damn the one i bought from steam have shitty graphics
That's because they didn't upgrade the graphics. All they did was make it compatible for modern systems.
