    Lol, Me again! This happened to me just last weekend. I had just fitted a new battery (from Tayna and followed your video 👍) and thought I'd not put the bonnet down correctly. The light came on with the annoying ding noise as I drove down the road.
    Before I got an opportunity to stop I went over a speed bump and the light went out and the noise stopped! I opened and closed the bonnet firmly when I next stopped and its not happened since. I'm sure it will be back tho' and your video will again help me to sort it out.
    Cheers and keep up the good work. It looks like your car is one fault in front of mine 😁

    • @ReviveMyRide
      @ReviveMyRide  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, thank you for your post! yes, if I did it again, I would definitely adjust the bonnet pins first before messing with the sensors. I’m normally pretty good at getting electrical plugs loose but had no luck at all on either of them! Couldn’t even see how I “should have done it” once I got them undone! And yes, I think slamming the bonnet down contributes to the issues.

I've used the information to fix this problem and all seemed OK until I went over a large bump in the road and something must have moved or lost contact. Hi glad you liked the vid 👍😎 I’ve haven’t had this issue before but did a little bit of reading. If you’re lucky, the cable may have snapped at the handle end inside the car. If so, apparently there is a cover around the handle that you can remove and you may be able to grab the end of the cable with pliers. If it has snapped somewhere in the engine bay, one owner took the engine tray off and then reached up with a long flat bar and flipped each one of the latches to the open position. Hope this helps some! Phil

      Did you try extending the bayonet as shown at 8:15 in the video? If so, All I can think of is a bad wire / connection to the switches. So, if the wire that goes to the bonnet switches is damaged in some way. From memory, they run along the underneath of the slam panel and then up left hand side of the engine bay. Hope that helps some! Thanks, Phil

    What about if you leave the cable unconnected instead? Would that remove the warning on the dash?

    • @ReviveMyRide
      @ReviveMyRide  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's a really good question! But as mine is working right now, I'm not gonna mess with it! However, here's my thought: It depends on how the switch works, normally open or normally closed.. I suspect that it won't make the light go out. The reason for this is, I'm pretty sure that because Mercedes will consider the bonnet switch to be a safety device, they will have designed the switch to "fail safe", that means if the switch stops working for any reason, the light comes on. Unplugging the switch is the same as the switch failing / not working. But, if you test it, would love to hear how you get on! Cheers, Phil

    Does anyone know the fuse responsible

    • @ReviveMyRide
      @ReviveMyRide  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      There probably won’t be a single fuse just for the hood open warning. It will probably be a fuse that powers multiple functions. It is possible to fool the sensors though if you start googling how to bypass the bonnet switch sensor with a resistor. Be careful though because the car will no longer know and be able to warn you if the bonnet is open. Cheers, Phil

    • @ReviveMyRide
      @ReviveMyRide  ปีที่แล้ว

      @4Evablessed Only thing I can think to check is as follows: I've heard that not all cars have two switches (usually there are two bonnet latches, one on either side at the front). Have you checked them both? If not, you might find the plug, switch etc on the other side. Presumably the switch was working ok previously? If so, it must be there! Thanks, Phil

    • @ReviveMyRide
      @ReviveMyRide  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi @garyfeatherston4850 my best guess: it sounds like the bayonet on the underneath of the bonnet / hood isn't going far enough into the latch. Hi, did you try extending the metal bayonet of the bonnet latch (mounted on the bonnet) that goes down into the latch when you close the bonnet? If so, that’s defo the next step. After that, I’m afraid I would be looking at electrical work, so making sure you have got a positive coming to the latch and that it is passing through the latch / switch properly when the bayonet goes into the latch. If you haven’t done that sort of work before, ask around for a recommendation on a good auto electrician. Hope that helps! Cheers, Phil

    Can the wing mirror switch on my Mercedes CLK be fixed or do I need a replacement? Thanks L Meredith

    • @ReviveMyRide
      @ReviveMyRide  ปีที่แล้ว

      @user-nt7hd1xh6k Sorry, I would need a lot more information to help answer that question! I assume you have an electric wing mirror and the switch you are talking about is an electric switch that either controls the glass in the mirror or causes it to fold? If so, the first step is to see if power is getting to the switch. If it is, when you click the switch, does power come back out of it and go to the mirror. If a switch is cheap to buy used from Ebay, it can sometimes be useful to buy one and swap it in but if you have a problem with your electricity supply or earth, or with the mirror itself, it won't fix your problem.... Hope that helps! Thanks, Phil

    • @user-nt7hd1xh6k
      @user-nt7hd1xh6k ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The switch controls automatic folding of mirrors when doors are closed,also dipping and raising mirrors to aid parking.
      The motor is working because it closed the mirrors but would not open them again.
      It’s a unit in the dashboard which can be used to operate the wing mirrors manually.
      Hope this helps.

    • @ReviveMyRide
      @ReviveMyRide  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@user-nt7hd1xh6k If you are sure power is getting to the switch but when you click the buttons, it doesn't travel through the switch, then it does sound like the switch is faulty and I haven't ever been able to repair a sealed switch, probably contacts inside have failed. So, unfortunately, it does sound like a replacement will be required. If you remove the switch and get the part number from the back of it, you will be able to search google and Ebay for a replacement.
