This didn't workonmy car. So I Took my car to the shop cause I needed an oil change and the wire on the driver side had a broken piece on it. So it wouldn't open! THIS might be your problem if it doesn't open. And it only cost me $470!I'll
You my friend, are a genius, can’t believe I was going to put my car into a garage that would have probably charged a fortune to repair this, I’ll buy you a virtual beer mate. 🍻🍻👊
Bro you saved me alot of headaches!!!!! I thought my car had too be taken to the Mercedes dealership. I was looking for a way to open my hood and you are on point!!!!!! Thank you sooooooooo much for this bro!!!!!....

Update late 2015 E220 Bluetex (UK Right hand Drive): Latch was stuck in the sense that the OS of the bonnet (hood) was stuck and the NS would release. By having someone in the car waggling the release and on the outside repeatedly pressing down and releasing the bonnet over the latch that was stuck, eventually caused the catch to release. (About 3 or 4 minutes) The two releases are directly in line with the very inner corner of the headlight lens covers. The cable comes up the OS under the bonnet and splits into two sections, a short one to the OS catch and a longer one to the NS catch. You can open the cable splitter with a screwdriver and lubricate the inner cables as well as lubricate them from the catch end(s). Another thing I noticed was that on release, the bonnet had only ever moved about half an inch or less (we have had the car from new) whereas the videos on youtube suggest a movement of more that one inch if not an inch and a half. This was caused by the long springs which are a few inches inboard of the catches. Lubricating these caused the bonnet to open an inch or so before the emergency latch caught. This is now much easier to release than before.
What do you do if the mechanic shuts the hood after an oil change and when you get home, you look at your S430 from the front and the hood is crooked or looks bent. The driver side doesn’t look shut all the way. Is this because the hood latches get stuck, sticking out? Can’t believe the mechanic didn’t even care to notice!
Yeah, this happens especially when mechanics are in a hurry or don’t realize it’s got a dual latch system instead of the one center latch. Just open the hood again and this time shut it while making sure both side latches engage.
Worked on an ML350 - UK. Driver's side lock was stuck. Wedged the release lever inside the car with some packers and less than a minute of tapping and moving the bonnet and it freed. Used some WD40 to get the latch moving freely, and then greased it up... works fine now
I had to get to Londn thought I would check the oil before long drive. Bonnet got stuck wouldn’t open. Looked your video up. Unbelievable your tip worked. Thank you for sharing young man. Saved the day and my life from my wife 😊
This actually worked! My hood release has been really tough to pull. Well the bracket finally broken. I banged on the hood while someone pulled on the cable with pliers and it popped up ! Don't forget to grease your latches!
Joe, congrats on opening your hood and leaving the great feedback. I made a promise to myself when I started the channel never to waste anyone's time because there is enough time wasting in the real world. Thanks again for the feedback. _Randomfix
Keep working hard area hood area gently and make sure that cable is fully extended. You may need to pull the hood cable with a tool from inside the vehicle in worst case scenario as the cable could be stretched out. You may have to remove the cable from pull lever.
night before flight out the country tried to replace the battery and this happened I tried screw driver and nothing 30 - 45 min trying to open the hood. I watch this video and boy you this saved me so much headache thank you soooo much.

Is the cable broken?can you feel some resistance? If you feel some resistance then get two other people to help you, get them to tap on the hood as you hold the lever open. If you are truly stuck visit a body shop instead of a mechanic.
I was ready to take it in and have the latches and cable removed. Had my wife pull the release while I pushed on the hood a couple of times and it opened right up. Freed up the stuck passenger side latch with WD-40 and fixed within a couple of minutes. Thanks so much
I have tried this with no fix is there another way ? I’m so frustrated with this good!! My tensioner froze I’m trying to replace it but when I had the hood open I didn’t close it all the way because I didn’t put the front shield screws back in to save time an the tow truck driver closed it now it’s stuck, not sure if it’s due to all the bolts not being in but it’s only the driver side
Great question, I would try the technique in the video with the help of two helpers, one holding the hood release and the two others will have to lightly tap on the hood near the hood latches. Best of luck and let me know how it goes. _Randomfix
Robo k, the hood latch is same most benzs use a two latch system. If you have an order benz just do the same with the center area versus the sides of the hood. Best of luck and let me know how it goes. If you can figure it out it's better to go to a body shop vs a mechanic for this repair. _Randomfix

Get a better car
Lol 😂
You are right!
They were great cars but since 2006 they have followed the plastic trend of the automotive market.

Glad to help and thank you sharing your success on the ml mbz.
I hope this works for me cause if it's not one thing, it's always another.
It’s that story of life? It’s not one problem it’s another!
This is definitely not working on my car. Tried lightly tapping, tried tapping harder, even with a rubber mallet.
I appreciate your constructive comments, thank you for the feedback!

YOU ARE THE BEST !!! THANKS FOR THIS GREAT TIP AND HELP!
Happy to help!
I have a 2004 Mercedes-Benz 230 compressor and the hitting of the hood didnt work its stuck on the driver side do u have any other suggestions
Mary, if this doesn't work, you need to go to a body shop that can help open it. It's better and cheaper than going to a mechanic shop.
Yes needs two people to open.
Or stuff something so the cable is extended
I'm having a problem with it not staying closed on the passenger side.
Keep working hard area hood area gently and make sure that cable is fully extended. You may need to pull the hood cable with a tool from inside the vehicle in worst case scenario as the cable could be stretched out. You may have to remove the cable from pull lever.
WOW!! THAT IS JUST SO FREAKING AMAZING!!!!! This is so Appreciated!! 🤗😇🙏🏽🙏🏽

Try a body shop next time instead of the dealer.
Didn't fork on my 07 S550
Thank you for your feedback
I tried this and it didn’t work 😩
