    This was my father’s tractor. And that hilly farm I grew up on in that farmhouse. Pretty cool to see it on TH-cam. I farmed quite some time with all international not far from where you picked this tractor up.

    Time for a rebuild. It’s going to be the o-rings on the cylinder liners leaking coolant into the oil. Pull the oil pan and pressurize the coolant and you will see for sure where it’s coming from.

      I thought that was wet sleeves so it could be a bad O ring.

      That is true for some, but not if they’re well made and kept clean. I’ve had one on my 400 and it’s not discolored at all. Many of the diesels have them and I’ve rarely seen one that is discolored.

    Even on a horozontal its surprising how much oil you can soak into it without wasting any on fitting...
    I have a new to me, Nuffield 4dm about 70yrs old, i dropped the sump and found 1/2" of sludge in the botumn & oil pickup gauze about half blocked, oil still clean after 1/2 hr warmup...I used a quart of diesel in the sump before dump about 15mins run time...
    One benefit of a manual stop is you can run the engine on non start, until oil pressure is achieved, following oil change...

Even oil filter on gas motor of combine was cartridge like Farmall H tractor were bolt he squirt can 4 pump in center bolt before put bolt on even small loader Desiel fuel motor tractor ! Only one year of 1992 had hard time getting Oil filter from International dealership so use FRAM orange on International 624 , 724 used a FRAM 8A was short one and 13 A big ones ! But dealership was so nice credits for 6 oil filters free to his business account payments for free ! Nice business deal with and serving public that dealer company ! Only tractor was 1950 Cockshutt 40 got 10w30 engine oil all year around because was gas motor! Combine gas motor too also! Oil filters should always be filled if possible. Oil bypasses the filter until it’s at least 85 degrees so it’s getting unfiltered oil until then. Then on oil controversy, she’ll rotella is good oil but it’s designed for over the road trucks witch run at full load on average 30% of the time where as case engine oil is rated for engines that are loaded 90% of the time like tractor engines as a general rule. Depending upon how you use it.

    I wouldn’t run a straight pipe on an normal aspirated engine. A turbo will lower the noise but with no turbo it’s going to be loud. The OEM muffler on 826 clamps on with a u-bolt style clamp. I’ve never seen a screw on as you are talking about.

    • @FarmallFanatic
      @FarmallFanatic  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The screw on ones were on the antique farmall tractors, this exhaust pipe will sit right down and clamp on...Then the muffler will go on to the exhaust pipe... Not trying to rub my hood with the bottom of the muffler if you know what I mean

    Be VERY careful of what you use for engine parts. We learned that the hard way with our 4366. It sat for 15 years before we bought it. It put the crop in and in the summer antifreeze leaked in the oil. The engine oil cooler was not the problem. So we were going to do rings and bearings and liner seals. Price was $1400, but a rebuild kit was $1700. So we rebuilt the engine - new sleeves and pistons. 23 hours later the #6 rod flew through the block with the wrist pin indicating a piston failure. Parts were from Agkits. There are no threads on the exhaust elbow. The muffler just slides over the end. If you pull the white side panel you can get to it, and they usually use a muffler clamp. Filling the filter isn't a bad idea, but isn't required. On the 66 series and later, the filters are down and the oil drains out of them when they are shut down. Same is true on the old tractors and pretty much anything with a cartridge filter. What you have to really worry about on 358s and 310s is the oil pump losing its prime. Right ahead of the oil filter is the oil pump and being a fair ways above the oil pan, losing their prime can be a real problem.

      I used it a lot, discing and mowing orchards and running a tree hedger, it's compression was so low it was hard to start and it didn't have much power and it smoked like a steam locomotive... since been rebuilt and is better than ever.

    That could just be condensation like others have said. Did it look like antifreeze? My 674 sat for years in the barn and the base was full with antifreeze. I changed the oil and have not seen any since and that was 6 years ago. Nothing every goes away but it may be just a really small weep. My 886 did not have a water filter and due to cavitation it ate a hole though the o-ring groove in the cylinder so I had to rebuild the engine. I did the work myself and by the time I had it all done I think I had $3,000 in the engine (in-frame kit).

      @randyvilleneuve4907 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Green is not good but again it could be a liner o-ring leak which could be very small plus condensation. I would check the Antifreeze concentration and level to see if its acceptable. If it sets for a few weeks you can try cracking the plug again like you did and see if you get any more coolant. If you do and want to dig deeper then drain the oil and pull the pan. In my case I did that and could see antifreeze dripping from the liner. @@FarmallFanatic

    I assume that lever is a cold start advance. Also on the oil…. You technically should only fill the oil filter through the dirty side which is the outer set of holes. I also feel the oil is cleanest coming out of a container and it is ok to dump it in the clean side. Fuel filters are another story. If you pre fill your fuel filter on the clean side out of the rusty old overhead tank that great grandpa bought then you’re wasting your money changing the filter.

    Hopefully it's just condensation in the oil. I ran an International a few years ago and had water show up in the oil.
