    For the performance this is really great upgrade from the Pi Zero to the CM3.
    How does this work with cooling ?
    Chinees handhelds al use cooling fans combine with cooling sink on the cpu.

    Great review as always ETAPrime! Although I think it’s great to have more power, the GPI case is already amazing by itself, it does the job when it comes to old platforms.
    But it would be great to see a new Pi with same form factor and more power

    I thought I would have been all over this kit when it released. The whole unit is a trade off. More power, not enough buttons, faster battery drain. The image floating around has button combinations to work around this probably; but that type of play style isn't for me. If it doesn't feel natural I can't enjoy it. I still probably wouldn't play anything above SNES even with this upgrade.

  • @visheshgupta9100

    It looks like a great product, however, the price is not right in my opinion. The GPi case costs 57$ shipped, the RG350 costs $80 shipped, and just for the cartridge without the CM3 module, the asking price of 51$ is JUST NOT WORTH IT. One is better off purchasing a complete solution.

    • @visheshgupta9100
      @visheshgupta9100 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Furthermore, For 51$ it is NOT AT ALL a POLISHED / FINSHED product. The quality looks very cheap and plasticy, as if printed from a 3d Printer.

    • @mrburns366
      @mrburns366 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      With so many Open Dingux and Android handhelds to chose from I would say NONE of the portable Raspberry Pi are worth the money. Hell, a PSP or PS Vita is STILL a great little emulation device. I think the PowKiddy x18 with a clean Android rom is one of the best deals around. $110 and you can emulate everything up to Dreamcast. It even has a touch screen and emulates DS perfectly. No point in buying an RPi.

    • @AkumaMods
      @AkumaMods 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@visheshgupta9100 the Case is RESIN 3d printed of the highest quality not crappy FDM.
      Just to give you a breakdown these are about $30 to make and get to Retro Game Restore, Then shipped to me in a bulk order. Add a $36 CM3 module that comes to a total of $63 then add shipping worldwide is $16.38(packaging and boxes with shipping) comes to a grand total of $79.38 I only make $5 and some change on each for my time to Test out each and every one before they go out and package them up. Now unfortunately for RGR the price for shipping is even more which is why his are more expensive. Unfortunately it takes a lot to get a CM3 system up and running the way you want it. This is why if you look a the KITE's Circuit Sword for the Original Gameboy the Board itself is about $250 alone while there are others out there that have kits close to it that are $250 for the entire kit like Renegade Labs Gameboy kit with the 3A+.

      @@AkumaMods Dear Sir, I understand that the price for prototyping is high, however, it is not "Commercially Viable". People in China are providing COMPLETE solutions at a cheaper price, and still earning money. We appreciate your hard work, and providing a solution for hardcore fans, maybe that is your target market. However, from a general consumers perspective, the price of your product / offering is not justifiable. Maybe look at some PCB fabricators in China, and have your products shipped directly from factory, China post is way more economical. As for the shipping, please note that I just ordered the RPi Zero from SparkFun, and they shipped through FEDEX to India from America, and charged only 3$ for shipping. So if you say that the cost of the "High Quality Resin Case" is 30$, I just dont buy it. Maybe sell the PCB for 5$ + shipping, and share the cartridge case 3d file, consumers can print themselves for under 1$ or 2$. I believe 20$ (shipped) is a good price point for a MOD, and you definitely will still earn money. If you disagree, and insist that your controller pcb costs 30$ or more, just take a step back, and look at the price of RPi Zero W, it is a fully functional SBC, with Processor, Ram, Wifi, BT and whatnot, and it still costs 10$ (AND EARNING MONEY). So yeah, the pricing can be a lot lower. Maybe you need to reconsider your supply chain. Please take this as a positive and constructive feedback. If you want to share the PCB / BOM (Bill of materials), let me know, I can check with some local PCB fabricators and assembly in India as well.

      @@AkumaMods I thought of the price problem but adding the few things on a board for a compute stick shouldn't be that difficult. RGR tested up to 2 hours of battery life but that's as much play as he tested no more. So at the very least youll get 2 hours of play

    lags on neogeo games (eg. metal slug) is natural thing. orginal arcade cabinets had those lags because of the week hardware. you can set cpu speed to 200% in options menu to get rid of it ;) all neogeo games works perfect on rpi3 with no slowdowns once or ever ;) cheers

    Its awsome that we can add a CM3 to the Gpi , but they could have done much better with that design instead having something going
    outside the GPi...
