- Troubleshooting and fixing a Kenmore Elite Washing machine that will not turn on. In this video I show how to test and replace the main control board. The washer being repaired is a Kenmore Elite Washer Model Number: 110.28062800. This video is part of my series "Free on Facebook" in which I repair, recycle, repurpose thinks I find for free.

I could use your help. I am not a tech just a DIYer. I have a Kenmore 90 Series washer. After completing one load of wash I started a second. The tub filled with water, agitated then stopped. No matter what setting I put it in nothing happens. No humming, nothing. Another Kenmore 90 series washer was given to me. It agitated but no spin. After checking it out it was only a loose wire. Plugged it in & it went through the cycles. Put a load of cloths in & the only cycle that will now work is the spin. Any help on either one of these would be appreciated. I did notice same series but different timer control model. I did check the lid switch, both are good. I even jumped them to make sure. On the first one I changed the timer & the only function is the water will fill.
When I pull my knob(power on), I hear a "buzzing" , so I assume its getting power. Can the board still be bad or should I look for something else????
I have a kenmore washing machine, a 500 series. The machine doesn’t start, it has all the lights off but it’s rinsing out the water, if that made any sense. How do I fix it?

I would first try resetting the washer by unplugging it and plugging it back in. If that does not work there is an issue with the main board (the one I replaced in this video) or the interface board. Also check all connections on main board.
AH! This is close to my model, but I lack the Spin Speed button which I hear you can hold down for 5 second 3x to test the cycles without the lid lock. Mine turns on just fine, but I keep getting the LF error code for Low Flow, or Long Flow. Took the hoses off, cleaned out some sand from the screen (we are on a well, and this was bought in late 2006). It keeps stopping mid-cycle, especially during the Rinse cycle. I have to hit Start to bypass the LF code but I might do that 10x before it actually works and proceeds forward in the cycle. You can hear it try to fill but it takes many tries before it moves on to Spin and Drain. Only the Cold water screen had sand; the hot seemed just fine. Trying to run the washer only on hot water wash/rinse didn't bypass the problem. About to call a repair man, but I hesitate to pump a few. hundred dollars into machines this old yet I agree with all your comments about sustainability. Would hate to see these go to a landfill, and it matches my dryer which works perfectly. Would hate to buy a whole new set. Any ideas? Thanks!
That's interesting looks like you did a pretty thorough job troubleshooting. If you confirmed the water coming in js flowing fine then I think it is either bad valves or a bad main board that is not recognizing the drum being filled.

If you are only going to use it once in awhile I would just get a $10 one from Harbor Freight if you plan on using it more often I would definitely recommend one made by Klein

Hello, my washer is stuck on express load have unplugged for several minutes/overnight but goes back to express load will not shut off unless I unplug No error code. Model # 110-22062 109 Type 170 😢
I have a Kenmore 600 series (mod # 110.26132410) top load washing machine. When putting in a new load of clothes, it just won't turn on. I definitely have power going into the main control (tested that) any other suggestions? Thank you. Great video.
I would inspect the control board for any burn marks or swollen capacitors which would mean the board js bad. Also check to see if an LED light is being lit up from the control board (if it is not then your board is definitely bad).
@@DuctTapeMechanic Thank you. No Burn marks. No LED light on the control board. I see that new control boards are $499. Used prices vary... How do you know that the ones you get from eBay are any good?
@@timcochran1385 I would say if you can get used board for $60 or less it is worth the risk. Otherwise you are looking at a new washer.
I have the same washer and won’t turn on. I replaced the control board, have flashing LED light, no burns or anything visible. not sure what to check next 😩😩
Hey I have a kennmore elite 2015 or 2016 model with the glass top I turn the knob and the selection doesn’t change any ideas?
Most likely, the interface panel is bad, try resetting the machine

Try ebay but it can be risky...
What is the problem when the washer won't start, but when you unplug and plug in again it works again for another few days

I think the clicking is the actuator motor. It directs a cam shifting from "free-wheeling" wash plate(Spin cycle) to "engaged"; which is Agitate. ( months ago?) You've prolly fixed it by now.
I have a kenmore 100 series. For months it will stop and keep lid locked during the cycle. It can stay like that for hours. What I do is unplug the bone. It takes hours before the machine unlocks the lid
Sounds like an issue with board but the lid lock could be faulty as well (easier and cheaper to start there)
Im in the same boat
My Kenmore washer wasn't powering on and I saw one possible solution was unplug it for about 5 minutes and then replug it in and I left it unplugged about 10 minutes plugged it back in and it worked fine. I also turned off and turn back on the circuit breaker but it wasn't off in first place so i think the real fix was just unplugging and replulgging. I read this resets it .

Thank you! I typically hold on to the bad boards, they are good for capacitors and relays.
Took the panel apart and checked the outlet and cable, all good. Checked the connections, and BAM, its working again! Must've jiggled something loose on an unbalanced load! Thanks for the help, brother!

May be you know the problem why my LG front load when first turn on it just spin no water come out and have to use garden hose to keep spray water where soup and where come out on top of machine for 30 seconds or so then the water come out by itself then I can stop spray water.
I plugged in my Kenmore washing machine & didn't know the knob was already powered on when I plugged it into the wall & it made an electric sound, then stopped working completely, blew a fuse or what??
Could be a fuse on the board...got to check input and output voltages to be sure. I have a video on my channel describing how to do this.

Im trying to justify fixing my Kenmore washer from about 2012. Its a smaller one in the $550 range. Im pretty handy and mechanical i do my own auto work but i feel like mine has everything wrong with it😂😂 evwntually it would wouldnt agitate (impeller) it was like that for quite awhile. Then it stopped spin drying. Then shortly after that (yes, I used it twice after it wouldnt spin dry and quickly handwashed inside washer 😂) it drained and stopped doing anything at all. The door has a latch and a lock. If i play with that i can get it to turn on but thats it. Nothing else. Just says "sensing". When it was somewhat working there where times id smell an electrical smell though very faint. Checled the board and nothing visible thats obvious. It would be a shame to toss out if it was something easy like this but I feel its more than that for some reason

The best thing to do is find the tech sheet and check for proper input and output voltage. I am planning a video on this soon

Sounds like you have a bad mode shifter. Should be able to find the part on Amazon.

It's possible, try finding one on ebay if you care to repair the machine

These are HE machines and do not use very much water. But it could also be an issue with the pressue sensor/hose

Might be worth it to try to find the board on eBay.
@@DuctTapeMechanic purchased a refurbished one off Amazon - was better deal than Ebay. But I did get it working again. I removed power 3 time and cleared the pressure hose, and checked all the connections, and it came back!

I have one identical to it the problem is everything else works but the pump won’t turn on I pulled it off and hooked power to it and it works nothing is plugged up. Anyone got any suggestions?
Perhaps a relay is stuck on the main board causing the pump to come jn. See if you can find one online for cheap. After replacing the board make sure your pump js not running too hot (touch it after a load) it could be drawing too much current thus messing up the board (best practice is to replace board and pump)
