I just wish more people get the chance of watching your videos, the problem in my washer was the #2 in your list, a little sock was stuck and I knew it because it had the "humming", thank you you save me $$$
It was number 2 for me too! After watching countless videos that were so helpless this one actually explained the sound and problems which lead to the correct diagnostics! Thank you so much!! Darn baby sock haha
This was perfect! I replaced my coupler thinking that was the issue but after it wouldn't work, I checked the drain pump and lo and behold, there was a big ass green piece of fabric stuck in it. Ripped it out and the washer worked like a charm.
Best thorough explanation yet! Good job dude! Keep it up. Honestly I have not seen a complete throw video on all the breakdowns of a machine like that. Thank you so much for making and posting.

Your my new go to guy for fixing my washer. I just watched the one with the sensing light stuck on. And the codes to indicate what's up. And that wasnt exactly the problem. I should have come here first. Because it wasn't spinning out and I thought it was a sensing issue. Replaces the actuator previously and it kind if went back to normal. But still was kind if confused. So I went through the process with the dial. And it came alive and went into the process. It's washing now with nothing in it. But man it went right to work with out pausing stuttering or humming. But after watching this I new I was on the wrong path with the last video. Butbman you just gave me 9 more fixes if ever I need it again. I hear it draining now. I'm gonna let it finish and put a load in. Thank you man. And the comments are helpful to. Great channel! All the best! Gordo
Well here I am with this washer doing exactly what it wants again. It worked fine with an empty drum. Would not work after I loaded it. Sensing light would be on, lid locks on and off without ant order. Drum engages and wirs and spins a bit and coasts to a stop. Then again......sensing light and lid light are solid. And now....crickets........ long wait and now water... and trying to spin prematurely. It's still filling with water. A humming coming from inside. Would I be correct in chasing down the sensor? Is there more then one? Maybe the controle board? You covered everything I could think of. Still the water is filling up properly. But the drum is getting engaged to soon right. This is not my expertise. And I respect you knowledge and appreciate how you have put so many answers out there already. I'm just guessing and ... well I thought I scrolled through ALL YOUR Videos looking . Maybe I missed one. I will go back and do more research. Thus is kinda interesting though. Like a treasure hunt or sumpthin. You are doing a good thing helping folks be more self sufficient. Thank you
Really seems like an issue with your actuator. Sometimes the actuator arm physically breaks other times the rpm sensor on the actuator is broken. I would replace the actuator and make sure the clutch is moving up and down ok. Best of luck in your repair
Thank you very much for saving me some $$! Old things are often more durable, and MORE FIXABLE than new. Who knows how long it will serve. My issue was the corroded lid switch.
Mine starts to spin air a few seconds then stops. Raise the lid and close it., it starts to spin a few seconds then stops again. It’s an old Maytag.. do you think it’s the switch ?
Thank you so much for posting this video! It was incredibly informative and helpful. I saved myself about $500 by following it step by step to diagnose my washer issue (the motor was fried because of broken agitator dogs jamming the agitator). The tech was gonna charge me $140 just for a diagnosis, the brand new motor didn’t even cost that much. Thanks again!
This is an awesome video. It's the only one I found that listed the symptoms observed and correlated to the parts that need to be replaced. Based on the video, I determined that the clutch assembly had gone bad. Thank you for the excellent video.
hoping i can find one of these nine issues as to why my washer won't spin or agitate. Awesome job explaining for us "wanna be" repair guys. Thank you Duct Tape Mechanic.
Ive been watching your videos for the past year now. You are really easy on the eyes, your videos are straight forward and very explanatory, and your name is great, so I was an instant subscriber. First figured out the lid switch issue with my washer, had it working great again for about 50 loads, now its not working again. So back to the drawing board. Im going to go through this checklist and see if I can manage another quick and easy fix. Fingers crossed!
Thank you SO much for this! Extremely helpful! I was able to diagnose and fix the problem with my ‘07 Maytag by myself, and I’m sure it saved me a small fortune vs hiring someone! It was both the agitator dogs AND the motor coupler, worn down to nubs. I replaced the clutch and changed the oil in the gear case for good measure, since I was already all up in there lol. Works like a new machine now!
I appreciate your video and I would like to thank you. It helped me to fix my washer and it was number 2, sock in water pump. My washer is working now and spinning as it should ! Thank you one more time!
Thanks so much, no one else mentioned the capacitor. I replaced the clutch and opened the pump based on what other YTers said was wrong. I guess they didn’t want to be responsible in case someone got zapped by he capacitor.
Great video thank you for all the useful info! I checked all the reasons you gave, I replaced the coupler, looked inside the pump and took apart the metal basket but still can not find the reason why my washer wont spin fast enough to wring out the water from the clothes. If you have any suggestions I’ll greatly appreciate it!
I can't find my original post to you but my Roper single cycle machine is working well again after a motor capacitor changeout. Thanks for your and others dedication to the older machines. 🎉🎉
Very good video and very good instructions Kenmore Whirlpool Roper take that direct drive motor I used to get a lot of appliances from the Lowe's stores
Much Thanks for taking your time to do the video, I'm pretty sure I need a new clutch, it will spin sometimes and when I rotate the bottom basket, she'll spin, basically an intermittent problem, like a clutch going out... Hopefully, that's it... Thanks for the video.
Wish I would have found this video before dropping the motor and later finding the pump clogged up 😂, great video I wish I could give it more thumbs up 👍 👍👍👍👍
I absolutely love your videos. I have a GE washer that would not spin completely leaving wet clothes. Although it did spin. After watching your video, I checked the lid lock and replaced it as it was bad. The capacitor checked out fine and the drive belt was good. Put it back together and tried washer. It filled with water, ran through the wash cycle and then stopped without draining or spinning. All lights on front panel went out. The Circuit Board in the back had a blinking green light with the identifying number of 1702. Help! (I'm gramma raising 2 granddaughters and need this machine working again)
Is the lid of the washer locked when it won't drain or spin? Try stopping the cycle, turning it to drain and spin and see if it works. Also try pulling the washer plug and leaving it off for 10 min then plugging it back in. I hope its not a bad board or a bad shifter (which makes the machine go from wash to spin)
Very good video!! Thank you!! Just to make sure I'm right, and before I go and get the wrong parts, which one would make it not spin during the washing and rinsing cycle? It only spins one time and that's when I stop it and turn the knob to the last spin cycle.
I've been stuck working on an old Inis whirlpool washer. No spin and a burned up lid switch. I bypassed the switch, and changed the coupler (it wasn't broken) but it was cheap enough. Also, the timer stops midway through a load so took it apart and cleaned the contact points that were pretty burned up. Replaced everything and the problem persists. So I took timer apart again and noticed a little double legged spring inside that was loose and out of place. Spent hours trying to get that and the timer cam thing lined up until my head hurt and gave up .Now after watching this video, I think it needs a clutch too . I'm looking for a used replacement now but liked and subbed your channel as it has great how to info.
Great video I have an old whirlpool and it stopped spinning I checked the switch and is good checked the coupler and that's ok ...you put on spin and it wants to go but it doesnt...what else can I check
Great video, however none of those scenarios address my problem. My Frigidaire washer (LB17a) agitates slowly, even while the machine fills and spins as it's supposed to Help please 🥺
Good video, thanks for that.. I just fixed mine which would not spin or wash. There was 2 problems, 1# the capacitor value had dropped to 9mF when should have been 12mF. 2# the motor controller has stopped working. Which is often due to the capacitor failure or vis-versa and it is recommended to change both at the same time. Maybe you you could had as the 10th reason which is very common in top loader machine in AUS.
very educational, thank you. My Kenmore is very close to the one on the vid. Maybe you can point me to the right direction. My motor work, it washs fine. But when it gets to the spin mode, sometimes works, and some times does not. I can hear the motor working. But when I open the lid I realize its not spining. Than I manually turn the barrel till it locks, close the lid and it starts to spin. ???? Clutch?
Awesome video! I have a Inglis top load washer Ij42002 and it agitates fine but when it comes to spinning makes a loud noise and was spinning slow. Metal to metal bang noise. The parts i have replaced already were drive block, clutch, cam, motor coupler is ok. I removed the motor and transmisson and its moving freely clockwise and counter clockwise. Could it be the basket drive? Hope you can help. Thanks.
Does it sound like grinding gears? Could be your transmission is bad. I've seen the brakes locked up on the spin tube, but that wouldn't make a grinding noise. Typically, metal on metal noise is a bad drive block
@ducttapemechanic I've been struggling with my kenmore 80 series washer for a while. The machine will fill, agitate, drain, but not spin. It makes no weird humming or clunking sounds. The motor sounds like it's running fine when the spin cycle is on. I've ruled out drain pump, transmission, clutch and lid switch. If I override the lid switch and give the inside of the drum a good spin while the spin cycle is on, it'll pick up speed for a few seconds, then slow down and stop. Could this be a motor issue? The motor seems fine, but maybe it's not fast enough to engage the spin? I hate to replace the motor for $400 if it's not the problem. Really appreciate any advice.
@@DuctTapeMechanic Totally fair. I updated my comment to show the problem. In case the update doesn't show, here's the problem: I've been struggling with my kenmore 80 series washer for a while. The machine will fill, agitate, drain, but not spin. It makes no weird humming or clunking sounds. The motor sounds like it's running fine when the spin cycle is on. I've ruled out drain pump, transmission, clutch and lid switch. (Clutch was replaced just in case but didn't help).
@angieisgreat sounds like an issue with the motor capacitor. I would replace that. If that doesn't resolve it then most likely your transmission has an issue. My opinion
Hey brother thanks for thr video. I thought this was the problem so i replaced the switch. I have a frigidaire combo washer dryer top load. And what its doing is that it fills water and then drains it right away and ends the cycle on normal wash mode. Do you happen to know what could be the problem?
Thank you so much for your video. Sometimes my washer wouldn't spin. It sounded like it was but wasn't. It would agitate but not spin. I found that by kind of wiggling (moving a little) the inside wash barrel I could get it to spin. I would turn it back on and barely lift the lid just enough to peek inside without it stopping to see it spin. I have no idea what I did by moving the inside barrel that got it to work but doing that isn't working anymore. Can you narrow down what it might be with this information? It's in a closet in my small kitchen. I'm so nervous about trying to fix it myself but I want to try. Thank you so much for any info you can offer.
I have a Maytag, A310 washing machine that when it goes to spin Kix the motor off - Is like a breaker in the motor. Motor overload protector? I replaced the motor , belts and timer and it still does the same thing.
Will this work on a 2yr.old black n decker portable washers? It goes into spin cycle but doesn't spin. It does everything but spin. I hear the humming of the drain pump but no spin . Thanks
Hello I watched your video a few months and changed my clutch. It worked fine for a month but it's back to doing the exact same thing. I checked the clutch and others pcs I previously changed and everything looks good. It will agitate but won't spin. Any idea on what I should try?
what if the transmission thingy does not turn fully, when I replaced a broken coupler.. (that did not fix it)... I noticed the coupler turned easily one way but not the opposite way... it stopped after a few turns... so would this be the clutch?? Please help thanks
Could the clutch affect the transmission? I cannot turn the motor shaft counterclockwise (I believe) after removing the drain pump. i haven't checked the motor coupler, but i can see it spins both the shafts connected to the coupler but it also gets stuck rotating in a certain direction.
I have a whirlpool upright washer looks like a 2010 model...mine does not spin fast enough to dry clothes...with a small load chothes dry better...does it have a chutch wearing out or a belt that needs tightening etc...do you have a video on this issue? Thanks for your help..unfortunately youtube does not allow me to reply to commdnts only post new ones.thanks again.
Another reason I encountered is something stuck between the basket and tub. Most notable a small rag or sock and or a bra underwire jammed inside the holes in the basket resting tightly to the outer tub.
Firstly, you’re super attractive. Secondly, thank you for making this concise. It’s especially cool that for each reason you have a straightforward list of symptoms that make it easy to jump straight to a more likely solution. Thanks. You took 9 min. of your life to save hours of mine.
Hi I just subscribed to your channel Question I have a ge washer I turn it to drain it won’t drain it just goes off if I turn it to wash cycle it only comes out water and it won’t stop pouring water Would you be able guide or tell me what could it be. Thanks
I had a front loader washer it broke the motor is good and wires can I use it on whirlpool washer with the motor of whirlpool washer the other motor of the front loader is different and I wanted to ask you if it can work ?
I can add a tenth one. I've tinkered with my slow-spinning Kenmore 300 for nearly two weeks now; replaced the clutch, confirmed the adequate condition & proper operation of all other obvious moving parts, taken the whole shebang to bits and reassembled it three times so far, all the time knowing that the solution was going to be something obvious, staring me in the face and murmuring amusedly, "You truly are an idiot aren't you." Yup. We've never been successfully able to resist overloading the washer ("Well, maybe this blanket too...oh and there are just a couple of towels, they won't make much difference probably..."), and consequently, it would frequently spin off balance, sometimes to the point where it was trying to walk around the laundry room by itself before somebody -- well all right, ME -- would hustle downstairs and redistribute the contents. Over time, the stress imparted by heavy saturated unbalanced loads, coupled with the inevitable age-related rusting of the underside of the basket, resulted in the basket breaking in a perfect circle around the base where it swoops up in the center to attach to the shaft from the motor. The slow spinning wouldn't even have been happening at all, except the agitator was propelling the innermost globs of wet laundry around and dragging the outer portion of the basket around with it. I would have noticed it sooner if it had ever occurred to me that such a thing could even happen. The break was so clean and mechanically circular that I just sort of subliminally assumed it was supposed to be like that.
Do all washer have the same problem for example speed queen washer agitates but does not spin ,model is LWS11NW, even though it's not the same as direct drive but the clutch or lid switch is also the problem or ?
Going to my mom's house in the morning. She said it made a loud grinding sound then stopped working. I'm hoping it's just that block nut. It's a direct drive Whirlpool with a spring clutch assembly. Any thoughts? Great video!
Mine agitates and drains like a champ. Agitator will spin but i can stop it with my hand. Drum wont spin. I changed the clutch and checked the coupler. Not sure what im missing unless i somehow installed the clutch wrong or used the wrong screw.
@@DuctTapeMechanic I looked at it again. Found that my drive block is worn. It no longer sits on top of the shaft in the two grooves. It just spins freely kn the drive shaft, so there's nothing for it to catch onto. Pretty sure it's been bad for awhile and was working based on rust and grime. I think when I recently fixed a spring, the lack of wobble made it spin strong enough to finally break completely.
Nice vid. My old model 70 Kenmore has stopped spinning. I have checked most of these items. I may power up motor next. BUT what I noticed is if I turn the coupler. It goes counter clockwise fine. It stops after a few turns clockwise. Hmmmm... bad transmission ?
I will lock up after a couple of rotations. Transmission is probably ok. Take the motor off and see if it will spin with no load (i.e., not connected to pump or transmission)
@@DuctTapeMechanic I am thinking it is the clutch. I put it back together. Set washer on SPIN CYCLE. One clunk but tub and agitator spin. I am sure a heavy load would stop it. Oh had all that off when I was spinning the coupler.
Thank you so much for your video, after changing several parts my machine won't spin, I can hear it trying to turn, but the bottom of the agitator is stuck. Can you help me please
So how do you get to the timer? I'm thinking that might be my issue. Everything's working except when it gets to spin, nothing. I've tried the spin on all the different cycles and it will not do ANYTHING when I set it to spin (so of course not draining either) but it will fill, it will agitate.
I have a problem😢 we have a Kenmore series 100. The washer works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. It clicks and clicks and gets water and drains and that's it, and sometimes it does the whole circle with no problems. I don't know what it might be do you have any idea 💡 thank you.
I took my water pump off,, and spun it with a screwdriver, and it is just a slightly stiff movement. Is that normal or should it spins free as possible? I'm thinking it is the relay switch might be fouled. That there is nothing wrong with the pump itself. Everything works on the washing machine, except the spin cycle. The motor spins easy in both directions by hand.
Nice video! Seems i can add a 10th reason.... on my machine the motor shaft end is worn out (no more flats on the shaft) so the coupler cannot be installed properly...
This is great as to all the other washer repair films do not give the actual Test for most components. Right now the Continuity Test on my washer lid switch shows bad, but when I bridge that wire harness; it does not spin; yet the switch clicks like a good one when striker comes down. Any suggestions is appreciated. I will keep you informed.
Yes, it is a Kenmore 80 Series. I crossed the Tri-Wire Harness by sticking a 12G Wire down 1st and 3rd channels, had to touch. Retaped it 2 Times. Tried 2 times, Rinsed, but did not Spin. Before tested with Multi-Meter down the 1st and 3rd channels but on the other wire harness coming from the Door/Lid/Sensor Switch itself. It tested discontinuous, but as far as the sound it makes when the lid shuts, you hear the click loud and clear. So likely onto Drain Pump & Hosing. Any thots still? Try a thinner wire than 12 G. The multi-meter works fine on other things like car wire. Likely going have take of Housing/Shell which I did not want to do as I must clear everything out of my bathroom.@@DuctTapeMechanic
Yep! The wire I was using was too thick, somehow it did not make it all the way down the the wire harness channel. So I switched from 10 G to 12 G. Not only that but I taped across then down into the wire harness. Now the Spin cycle works, just need to buy the lid switch to eventually replace it.@@DuctTapeMechanic
My washing agitates but when it spins it does a 16th of a turn and makes a loud noise. I replaced the clutch and it didn’t change it. Not sure if I did something wrong or if it’s something else
I have a Maytag lat9206mae washer hums when it gets to spin cycle takes a long time but finally spins. changed the timer because it was broken inside then it started doing this. Thought it was the new timer after a year or so of dealing with this. But it still takes forever to go into the spin cycle. It hums like the motor isn't wanting to start. What do you think this could be. Thanks
Humming sound from motor could be a multitude of different things , bad motor capacitor, something stuck in drain pump, bad motor, bad transmission. I would definitely test the motor capacitor and the drain pump first.
I have an intermittent no spin on our kenmore 80 series. It will go through the wash cycle until it gets to the spin. Timer still tick away normal. New lid switch. I can hear it humming. If i open the lid and close it. It will spin just fine. Sometime it will spin normal without having to open and close the lid. Is it the clutch or something else?
nope. Turned out to be the timer. Replaced the timer and it’s been working great again. I opened up the old timer and there were burnt mark on couple contact teeth.
What about a drum that won't spin on its own until I jump start it by spinning by hand? My tyranny is leaking a bit so I'm thinking oil on the clutch which I replaced, or the wrong tension spring on clutch or Timer ( not likly) or the tyranny is bad. What do u think?
@@DuctTapeMechanic oh wow thanks for the response. I do use my hand to force the spin to start and the run cap is cheap so I'll order that now. Thanks again.

you have done a great service to people with your video thank you very much
It's my pleasure!
Very good video and very good instructions Kenmore Whirlpool Roper take that direct drive motor I used to get a lot of appliances from the Lowe's stores
😮 This is a great clear video on reasons why thw washer us not spinning.
Thank you!
Much Thanks for taking your time to do the video, I'm pretty sure I need a new clutch, it will spin sometimes and when I rotate the bottom basket, she'll spin, basically an intermittent problem, like a clutch going out... Hopefully, that's it... Thanks for the video.
Yes. That sounds like the clutch. Best of luck with the repair!
Great video! Thanks for breaking it down for us!
Glad you found it helpful!
It was the coupler. Thanks for this great video! I’m sure I’ll refer back to it when the next component breaks😅
Your welcome!
Wish I would have found this video before dropping the motor and later finding the pump clogged up 😂, great video I wish I could give it more thumbs up 👍 👍👍👍👍
That is funny. I'm glad you figured it out, though!
Thank you for sharing your hands on information.
Thank you for watching!
Very good video!! Thank you!! Just to make sure I'm right, and before I go and get the wrong parts, which one would make it not spin during the washing and rinsing cycle? It only spins one time and that's when I stop it and turn the knob to the last spin cycle.
It seems like you have an issue with your timer.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! YOU ARE AWESOME!! Stay safe and have a wickedly awesome Thursday!!
Was the timer the issue with your machine?
Soon enough you will be an expert!
Great video I have an old whirlpool and it stopped spinning I checked the switch and is good checked the coupler and that's ok ...you put on spin and it wants to go but it doesnt...what else can I check
My Hydro Wash had a fried lid switch. Following your help while replacing the lid magnet(strange).
Thanks!
Great video, however none of those scenarios address my problem.
My Frigidaire washer (LB17a) agitates slowly, even while the machine fills and spins as it's supposed to
Help please 🥺
Good video, thanks for that.. I just fixed mine which would not spin or wash. There was 2 problems, 1# the capacitor value had dropped to 9mF when should have been 12mF. 2# the motor controller has stopped working. Which is often due to the capacitor failure or vis-versa and it is recommended to change both at the same time. Maybe you you could had as the 10th reason which is very common in top loader machine in AUS.
Excellent! That's good advice. Capacitors can certainly lead to the motor humming and not working properly
very educational, thank you. ???? Clutch?
Good diagnosis! That is the classic example of a bad clutch.
Thank you bro.... Sounds like clutch
I perfer to have discussions here. Otherwise, people start sending me emails like crazy
@@DuctTapeMechanic Totally fair. I updated my comment to show the problem. In case the update doesn't show, here's the problem: I've been struggling with my kenmore 80 series washer for a while. I've ruled out drain pump, transmission, clutch and lid switch. (Clutch was replaced just in case but didn't help). @angieisgreat sounds like an issue with the motor capacitor. I would replace that. If that doesn't resolve it then most likely your transmission has an issue. My opinion
What if on a regular cycal it wont spin just drain and make noise, but if u switch it to drain and cycle mode it will?
Hey brother thanks for thr video. I thought this was the problem so i replaced the switch. I have a frigidaire combo washer dryer top load. And what its doing is that it fills water and then drains it right away and ends the cycle on normal wash mode. Do you happen to know what could be the problem?
This is the best handyman video over ever seen.
Also what does he mean by agitate?
Sounds like it's a worn out clutch
@@DuctTapeMechanic thank you
Great video. And my same exact washer for bonus points.
Thanks, mine was #10 a sock was stuck between the inner spin tub and plastic outer tub. Will spin very slow, barely any spinning power.
Thank Youuuuu I fix my washer 😂😂 my daughter sock was stuck in the drain pump 🤦🏽♀️😅👍🏻
Your welcome! It's a common issue on this model.
Thanks
Worth a shot!
Thank you Thank you Thank you
I watched this video and you helped me pinpoint my EXACT issue!!!!
You're welcome! Glad to help!
Hello
I watched your video a few months and changed my clutch. It worked fine for a month but it's back to doing the exact same thing. I checked the clutch and others pcs I previously changed and everything looks good. It will agitate but won't spin. Any idea on what I should try?
@@zazakytu7124 sounds like the lid switch is faulty. Lucky for you. It's a really cheap part (like $14)
I have this exact set of machines and I am wondering if there is a filter that needs to be cleaned somewhere in the washing machine?
The only filter it has is at the inlet valves. If you noticed your machine is filling slowly, then clean it
what if the transmission thingy does not turn fully, when I replaced a broken coupler..
Many thank's !!! your video was very helpful
@estelledorval4610 awesome! Glad I could help!
Yes, I have seen that as well!
Firstly, you’re super attractive. Secondly, thank you for making this concise. It’s especially cool that for each reason you have a straightforward list of symptoms that make it easy to jump straight to a more likely solution. Thanks. You took 9 min. of your life to save hours of mine.
Appreciate the kind words. Glad to help!
My daughter’s stack washer/dryer is squealing. GE model SMW27000AWWW. Do you have a video on how to repair this?
Hi I just subscribed to your channel
Question
I have a ge washer I turn it to drain it won’t drain it just goes off if I turn it to wash cycle it only comes out water and it won’t stop pouring water
Would you be able guide or tell me what could it be.
Thanks
My washer is an GE
Do you have a newer style GE or one or the old ones?
I had a front loader washer it broke the motor is good and wires can I use it on whirlpool washer with the motor of whirlpool washer the other motor of the front loader is different and I wanted to ask you if it can work ?
I can add a tenth one. I've tinkered with my slow-spinning Kenmore 300 for nearly two weeks now; replaced the clutch, confirmed the adequate condition & proper operation of all other obvious moving parts, taken the whole shebang to bits and reassembled it three times so far, all the time knowing that the solution was going to be something obvious, staring me in the face and murmuring amusedly, "You truly are an idiot aren't you."
Yup.
Most likely is the drive block. Especially if it was a loud metal on metal sound.
@@DuctTapeMechanic Thabk you. I hope so.
Very informative… thank you
Mine agitates and drains like a champ. Agitator will spin but i can stop it with my hand. Drum wont spin. I changed the clutch and checked the coupler. Not sure what im missing unless i somehow installed the clutch wrong or used the wrong screw.
Sounds like clutch or could also be lid switch (some of the older versions agitate even if lid is open)
What type of machine do you have?
Interesting!
How can you test the clutch is there a way to put it on and can I turn the water off and make it do it?
I took off the drain pump and a lot of water came out but I still hear some in there. Will it spill out on to the wires when I turn it on it's back??
Single lady here, Maytag works until spin, I hear a slight ticking sound by the knob. Any clue what it may be? Thank you!
Most likely the clicking sound is a bad timer
Good vid
Very informative
thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Liked your video, can you slow down a bit. And show how you replaced the coupler. Thank you.
Perhaps i can make a more detailed video on the procedure in the future!
Are you bypassing the correct two wires? One of them should be just a ground wire. It should spin with the lid switch bypassed.
@@Spartan1293-w3u very nice! Easy fix! Good job
Great job your the best!👍👍
Thanks! 😁
My washing agitates but when it spins it does a 16th of a turn and makes a loud noise. I replaced the clutch and it didn’t change it. Not sure if I did something wrong or if it’s something else
Great Great. Thnx so much. Working on a friend's today.
Awesome! Best of luck!
Sounds like your clutch is slipping. I would replace the clutch first as it is cheap (small chance it is a shotty transmission)
@@DuctTapeMechanic thanks. I will go ahead with that.
Did the clutch fix your issue?
nope. Turned out to be the timer. Replaced the timer and it’s been working great again. I opened up the old timer and there were burnt mark on couple contact teeth.
Thank you
How do you take the casing out of a d/ drive top laod whirlpool washing machine?
I cover the removal in some detail at the start of this video:
th-cam.com/video/tF6Vr6T5iWw/w-d-xo.html
Hello.. I just saw your video on the washing machine and figured I'd ask you.. my wash machine agitates but it won't spin
If it's an older style kenmore machine it could be the lid switch otherwise probably the clutch
What about a drum that won't spin on its own until I jump start it by spinning by hand? My tyranny is leaking a bit so I'm thinking oil on the clutch which I replaced, or the wrong tension spring on clutch or Timer ( not likly) or the tyranny is bad. What do u think?
If you are jump staring your washer it most likely is a weak motor capacitor
@@DuctTapeMechanic oh wow thanks for the response. I do use my hand to force the spin to start and the run cap is cheap so I'll order that now. Thanks again.
