The Diesel Duck 382 is an incredibly capable trawler. Built out of steel by Seahorse Marine in China, this George Buehler design is the smallest in the ocean series, but just as mighty as her bigger sisters. (The Coot is smaller, but doesn’t have the same range or profile). Jubilee is seaworthy, livable and affordable.
If Jubilee looks familiar, she is. JMYS created an original video that was released in 2017 and has hundreds of thousands of views and many thumbs up. At the time we signed our current listing agreement, Jubilee was placed into winter storage (in a covered, heated building). Eager to get the word out we had a dilemma to overcome - how can we talk about her without getting aboard to show her off? Not wanting to wait for spring to make a presentation video, Jeff came up with the idea to try something different. Quality unused footage from the original film was spliced together to create a fresh look for Jubilee.
In this film, Jeff talks about Jubilee specifically and Diesel Ducks in general. The camera focuses on the boat and shows off much of what she has to offer. Unlike our popular “Talk Through Tour” videos, this is a “Talk View Tour” - a voice-over production that lets Jeff have a one-way conversation sharing not only about what Jubilee is all about, but also touching on the men behind the project; George Buehler the designer, and the builder, Bill Kimley of Seahorse Marine. Interested trawler buyers are desperate to learn more about this quirky looking design and seem to become more infatuated the more they learn. This is brand that grows on you and be careful, too many views and you may become converted!
Jubilee is a sail assisted trawler powered by a John Deere 4045 85 horsepower diesel engine. She holds 1,720 gallons of fuel and at passage cruising speeds of 6.3 knots provides trans-oceanic range with fuel to spare. She has been maintained in excellent condition, lightly used and we truly believe the video, though dated, provides an appropriate representation of how she looks today.

As a former deckhand on oceanographic research ships, I love the "ship" look and feel of this vessel- steel hatchways with dogs, proper portholes, etc. This is a vessel for people who want to be at sea, with wind in their hair and sea spray splashing them in the face, not just sitting tethered alongside sipping $40 wine back aft. Gorgeous boat, not your usual 'McTrawler' !
The 'voice over' approach with existing footage works really well by the way, you could do more of it during lockdown-just have the owners get clean video shot and uploaded to you and away you go.

This fellow is THE best vid-tour yacht broker! His experience in the Nordhavn 40’ circumnavigation and his incredible knowledge from a 25(?) yr career as a broker/agent - well, there is no one I have more trust in, for somebody I’ve never met, regarding honest presentations of power boats.
There is something so classy and interesting about Diesel Ducks because of their rugged constriction and their ocean capabilities that makes me love them

This boat looks like a tank and I love it...I noticed the main stateroom was compartmentalized with a watertight door as well. When I'm ready, I'm putting this on my list, but I have a feeling they're as rare as hen's teeth.

@@JeffMerrillYachts Jeff, I'm at least 6-24 months out, but you seem to have a huge network when it comes to the Nordhavns, and I'm really interested in either a 35 or 40...maybe in 2 years, the 41N will start popping up in the used market as well.

Like this much more than a true sailboat. I've been on several and the steep stairs from cockpit to interior is treacherous. That and I dislike the feeling of being in a "cave" that most sailboats have. I've once heard sailors compare to gofers. They stick their head up from their holes, look around and back down into the hole. Nope. I'm a trawler guy.
Maleko: Good that you have been aboard a DD and everyone has a different impression. To me the stairs from the pilothouse to the saloon is not too steep - check out a Nordhavn 46. The "belly" saloon is more like a sailboat, and many people prefer that privacy, rather than being the fish in a bowl with massive windows dock walkers can look into. This is a good combination of sail and power.

Sorry, I don't have the key board to type in your name: They are all in English, the only language I speak. We do include dimensions in metric on our listings -see JMYS.com and we often include them in some subtitles, you must have missed at 0:15 some metric dimensions. At 4:19 - first interior location we give the headroom in metric. Please re-watch and pause to read the subtitles. We try to be metric savvy!

Hi Jim, I’m curious about boat shows and TrawlerFests for summer/fall 2021. What do you recommend for a new guy to meet and greet people and powered yachts? Are you attending any?
Yorg33k: The boat show schedule is starting to show up online. TrawlerFest has dates for Newport, RI in August (go to www.trawlerfest.com) and they are talking about later dates at other venues. I try to attend all of the TrawlerFest and would suggest you give that a close look and try to attend to learn more. If you do, please chase me down so we can meet.
I always thought trawlers are the best.

is this Category A on sea worthiness? do you have any comparison with Nordhavn 41?
GS: Seahorse marine, the builder would have to advise on whether she has been approved as Category A. Completely different boat than a Nordhavn 41. Steel vs. Fiberglass, flybridge vs. not, single with sail plan vs. two. Prunes and Pineapples!
Is there any backup propulsion besides the sail?
Sea Sea: Correct, this is a sail assisted trawler, no PTO or wing engine, the sails are your back up.
Is the designer related to Ferris Beuhler?
Military: Good question, but I don't think so.

I want a sailboat but this really made me think. At the risk of sounding rediculous. Can I sail this an wud it be a good blue water vessel? It's perfect but Im not rich I wanna live on the boat I choose an be off grid for months at a time. Tho I am not even middle class.. my disabled son loves the sea an wants to see the world... I want to give him his dream... ✌🏻💗😊❣️

Donna: This is a great mini-ship. They are designed for open water/ocean travel. You need to know what you are doing, but the DD’s are capable.

Why did it take over 3 years to sell this boat?
Buck: It didn’t. We have listed her twice. First time took a bit longer, in 2021 it was a matter of weeks to close.
