Woodturning - Hybrid Pine Cone Vase with Epoxy Resin

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 1 ต.ค. 2024
- In this woodturning video, I will transform some pine cones into a hybrid epoxy resin vase / vessel. Using blue and yellow resin with mica powder to add a special effect into the end product. Before casting this piece, I let the resin to set for 5hrs to ensure after pouring into the mould the two colours do not blend. Using negative rake carbide tips help massively when working with resin to avoid any chip outs. At the ends I used some Yorkshire grit and microfine grit to polish up to great shine. Happy Watching 😊

Nobody seemed to get the significance of the colors. VERY impressive vase and VERY clever color selection! (Or am I seeing something totally coincidentally?)

Thank you so much!
My God just so beautiful !!! Thanks so much ! Carry on. 🙋💕
Muito lindo
This is when you have to say WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
That is stunning, David! The colors are beautiful against the pine cones. The way the long ones are cut remind me of fish scales and the short ones remind me of peacock feathers. Great job!
Thanks Lucy. My first trial on avoiding two colours to blend so waited 5hrs before I poured the resin into the mould. I like the different colours showing in the piece so i will be making more using this methood
You took the words right out of my mouth 🤗😊👍🏽 Peacock was the first thing that came to my mind.
Such beautiful, varied effects using a commonly found 'ingredient'. Your skills and imagination are amazing. What stunning work 🥰
@@openorwap5412 Thank you 😊
Easily, one of the most beautiful vases of this type I've ever seen. All the choices you made were brilliant, and the color combinations with the Pine Cones looks surreal. Congrats and Thanks!
You are extremely talented. Taking something that's naturally beautiful and combining it with your blending of colorful resins and then applying your skill to form it all... amazing. Well done sir.
The COLORS! 😍❤️

Oh my goodness this is beyond stunning ! My eyes cannot cope with how beautiful this is 😍😍 spectacular colours and mix with the cones and just wow
Thanks Claire 😀 First time using this method as the resin sat on the side for 5 hours before pouring it into the mould. I shall be making more using this method as love how the colours are showing 😀
Stunning! I love the colors together! Well done!!

Those transitions are nauseating. Cool work though!
A stunning result, gorgeous.
Thank you so much!
Здорово! Но, если бы это был светильник, было бы вообще феерично!
i love that you mixed the colors nice and strong. when the shavings are colored instead of white you know it’s gonna be vibrant. i’d love to see you do more resin dominant projects in the future!
Thanks so much 😀
Хорошо получилось !!!
Очень красиво.
Хорошее сочетание цветов.
Когда просто заливаешь краску в форму может ничего не получится.
Выглядит очень круто !!!
Amazing art
Absolutely beautiful work. Very nice.
Glory of Ukraine!

I'd like to see this with a battery powered 'puck' light. It would show it glowing from within.
[Puck lights are used in table floral arrangements-- cheap on Amazon]
Such an amazingly satisfying and beautiful thing to watch! What I love most about the design, is if I had just come across it on a shelf somewhere I'd never guess that it was pine cones in there... they truly look like some super prehistoric lifeforms from before anything crawled out of the sea. 😳😱 💖😁👍
Look like a van gogh painting....absolutely beautiful....
Excellent travail mec
Beautiful work. Just incredible. You have great ideas. It’s seem like all your ideas just turn out amazingly.
Very nice
Wow, stunning piece. Out of curiosity what would a piece like this sell for?
£300-320 GBP plus postage as minimum
Without a doubt, this is the sharpest resin vase I've ever seen done! It reminds me of the ocean and all the things in It. Positively STUNNING!
Thank you 😀
Did you put the piece under vacuum then pressure while drying? Or one?
Just pressure pot
super tare 💛💛🌴🌴👍👍
Beautiful! The pine cones almost look gilded in the final product - amazing how that happens. The colours and patterns are fantastic mate. Like underwater flaming peacocks lol
Exquisitely beautiful piece. Has a light, joyously mystical Hawaiian/Caribbean glow to it. 👍😎
It would also be very much at home in a rather posh mountain vacation home.
Had i not seen this being made, i never would have believed it was handmade, it's so perfect! I am in love with this, the colours, the shape, the shine, omg it's gorgeous!
Thank you so much 😀
How it is so beautiful and mesmerizing. The green and blue colour combination looks so gorgeous. So uniquely created and made.
Reminds me alot of a mermaids tail

Thank you so much 🙂
Precioso!❤
Dave: Finally got started on your pine cone bowl . I did a couple small mixes to see if the 2 colors wouldn't blend to togher, but they did. The first I poured after epoxy was mixed for 30 minutes and the second 1 hour, they both blended. I'm using alumilite deep pour which has 45- 90 minute's working time. You had mentioned 5 hours ? Any thought's? Love to do this. Thanks Jim
This is amazing as is your gifted talents! Thank you, David, for sharing
Thank you, thank you, thank you for the sound of the tools and machines and no annoying music!
So beautiful
You’re creativity is just out of this world! Stunned
Jo koi bhi is video ko dekh raha ho Allah tala unki sari pareshani dur karte aamin

Очень красивая работа, приятно было смотреть. Спасибо
❤❤❤❤❤🇲🇽🙏🙏🙏
I am about to begin learning about resin casting and am still a little confused as to which resin to buy/use???? I see that there are many brands available; is there a difference between them, or will any casting resin work for the type projects I see online? Thank you very much, BHW
F-ing Amazing!
Some day when I grow up I very much would love to create something like that... I'm only 50..
Фантастически красиво!
سبحان الله الخالق العظيم والصلاة والسلام على سيدنا محمد وعلى آله وصحبه أجمعين

Thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed the video 😀
David, do you sell you're work? That vase is stunning!!!!! I found you're web site and shop!!!!
فنان بحق 💐 و ذوق رائع و جميل جدًا جدًا 💐👍👍👍
Great video and beautiful piece. I’ve been dabbling in resin turning recently but have been having a hard time keeping the colors from blending too much. Am using Alumilite deep pour resin any suggestions?
Absolutely mindblowing beautiful
Thanks so much 😀
hay quá Phúc ơi, nổi cả da gà luôn nè, thấm vào từng mạch máu

LADIES loves the shape stylist like a cute circle mushroom. With warm and bright colour. U try my ideas.

You Got TALENT Dear 👌👌🇵🇰🇵🇰
BEST WISHES FROM PAKISTAN
You "turn" out some beautiful things. Maybe you can help. A friend coated a large project with resin, but he didn't use enough hardener. Is there any way to make the coating harden?
Dear friend - why do you not simply put something heavy in the center container? Or am I missing something? Love your work. Kind regards.
Absolutely stunning. And the rollerblade wheel ?jig? [to support the resin?] is completely ingenious.
Устаревшие Технологии! Вы,для кого Здесь Пиаритесь! Я, надеюсь,что в следующем Видео,что то ближе к реальности!!!
Love your work, can you tell me what your pressure vessel/autoclave is as I’m struggling to find one. Cheers
Just love watching your videos .. AMAZING !!
The end result is too beautiful to put on the floor next to a desk. Does Dave ever use these beautiful creations to form lamp bases? Or anything that can be placed at eye level for best appreciation? (I’m new to the channel so this question may have been answered elsewhere.)
I kind of assumed you would just toss a bunch a pinecones in a small to medium size bucket. If there was reason for all the extra steps I'm genuinely curious to know.
I'm not sure you can call this 'wood'turning exactly but it is a beautiful piece.
What happens to all the Epoxy waste by the way? Is there any use for it or is it going straight to the landfill?
