- This is the second video I have done on this as it seems there are so many ways to put on all the gaskets. This is the correct way. I forgot to put on the breather hose in this video, you can do it after or during whatever works for you.
The original video is here: • Carb Assembly on a Hon...
for the record, this guy has just shown the secret to solving this puzzle, re-assemble on the bolts.
Easy peasy!
Lol. Every time I need to work on one of my honda mowers with the little 160s . I'm here reviewing this video. Thanks man .
Right on!
Thanks for your video, it was very helpful. One of the little linkage wires came off for the choke and I had starting problems with the choke not opening properly. So, I undid the 2 bolts and everything literally fell on the deck of the mower. Got it back together, thanks to your video, and the mower started right up after the first pull. Thank you. 🙂👌
Well that is awesome!
Do you recall the carb part number you ordered for your honda-powered mower?
I’m a little late, but this video really helped.
4 stars. 😊
Never too late, glad it helped!
Thanks for your video. Like you stated in the video I pulled out the bolts and all the gaskets fell to the deck. I found a replacement carburetor on Amazon for less than $25 (including gaskets, air filter & spark plug). I had no idea of the order and positioning of the gaskets until I found your video. Put it back together and it fired up on 4th pull. To be safe I won’t use the spark plug but for the price the carb was a bargain. Suggestion for others if they’re not certain of the carb model - the engine ID on my Husqvarna mower was on a small sticker below the gas tank and it had the complete engine model number that I cross matched on Amazon.
Great to know Don, thanks for sharing!
You can get the OEM carb for around $9 at your local parts store.
Lifesaver man! Definitely couldn't find the order once all the parts dropped out when changing air filter.
Awesome!
Thank you for video!!!! Helped me to put it back
You a life saver
right on!
Thanks for the video
Needed this today
Well I feel like an idiot now. But live an learn. Thanks for the video I was installing it the hard way.
Thanks a lot for the video. It helped out tremendously
Thank you , excellent
You are welcome, cheers!
On another vid the guy installed extra carb bolts with the heads cut off so he could replace them as he took the regular bolts off. The cut bolts held the rear in place while he cleaned the carb.
Since I don’t have any extra carb bolts could you use a bungee cord to hold the rear in place while cleaning or replacing the carb?
Thanks awesome video, stay safe
Great video
I just put a brand new carb on and it leaked gas. Do you think it’s possible I have the gaskets on wrong?
It will be the carb or hose? It could be a loose bolt on the bottom or the needle inside the carb could have a tiny piece of debris in it, even new.
Didn't show how and where the springs go!
I desperately need help I have a Honda gcv 160 that is surging and will only run fully choked. I have replaced most of the fuel system with OEM parts. It has a new air box, air filter, carb, all gaskets but the plastic one, and new fuel lines. I even went through the brand new carb and gave it a bath in the ultrasonic for good measure. What could I be missing?
It means it cannot get enough fuel. Check the fuel line while off of the carb into a container. It should flow freely. If not try another carb.
1:28 - please clarify, I swear you just turned the plastic do-hicky around. Am I wrong?
Ya it looks like it was on wrong. I often find parts in the wrong order from others working on it.
Thx you so much
You're welcome!
nice job . where can I buy all the gaskets and carburetor?
Tks. You will need to find your model number and look up a parts diagram. It can be tricky. Email me if you need help.
I always use impacts on carbs.
I bought used husqvarna HU800 awd. Has honda motor. I noticed on mine that the "spacer" dosen't have that vent cut out in it. Could that make the engine surge. Also when I choke it the butterfly does not close all the way , I'm thinking it's only 1/8 closing.
If it has a manual choke, when putting it back together it is easy to not get the choke tab in the correct place so the choke leaver works. I usually double check this before tightening the bolts. The spacer should not make it surge, surging is usually from a dirty carb jet.
Where is the thermo wax cartridge for the chock on this engine?
This model has a manual choke with a cable and lever on the handle bar. No thermal wax.
@@RidgePowerEquipment thank you. The Honda dealer ordered me a wax cartridge.
Love your video! I think you are the only one on youtube showing this kind of carburetor assembly( such pain to take down and put back, the new design is better). Well, my question is I feel like I did everything, cleaning the carburetor and fuel line et al, my Craftsman/Honda is still starting and dies 15 seconds later, what is the problem?
Check your gas cap. Just unscrew it a little so it vents better. If it works, it's the gas cap. If not, buy a new carb, they are cheap. Cheers!
@@RidgePowerEquipment which one to buy? there are so many of them on Amazon!
@@harbinguy1 I guess the gas cap is ok. You can disconnect the fuel line and check how is the fuel flow. You can try cleaning the carb one more time. Finding the correct carb is a challenge, mostly the chokes are different on many models. Some chokes have a linkage, some have a tab and a bar etc. So you either find your model number and look up the part number of go by what it looks like. I will link a few but I am in Canada and the US Amazon may differ.

Where does the carburetor spring go at on the chock
Not sure, kinda depends on what you are looking at and the model?
your hands are in the way!
Ya I am not the best at filming this
Picture please
I have a question there is a piece connection to my plastic part can I send you a pic crude
sure
@@RidgePowerEquipment I have to take cover off again and will send picture shortly
How do I send a picture

Is there an email that I can send the pictures to because I don’t know how to upload them to you
left off rear hose to breather. shotty mentality
stupid f'ing Honda design. Every time I have to replace a $15 carb I go through this circus. The conversation shortly after pulling the bolts loose - "ahh f****" and off to youtube I go.
I suspect that the Honda factory has some jigs to make this easier or some sort of procedure. I'd like to watch the factory assemble one of these.
At least the carbs are cheap :)
Hey is not telling you the damn things have 3 deferent choke setups
Ya 3 dif choke setups
Do you have a video to show the different set ups??
Brown Christopher Thomas Charles Clark Anthony
Terrible video for gasket order assembly.
