    My wife just bought one. Hers is the 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander SEL and we love how it performs and the value is second to none compared to other SUV size of its kind. For the price of what u get it's a great deal and btw it's 100% made in JAPAN. So quality is good. Thanks for the nice video.

    I work for Mitsubishi and would like to comment on Lane Departure Warning (10:25). If you'd like to disable it permanently, then simply hold LDW button for approximately more than 10 seconds. It will switch to LDW 2 mode and won't be back when you turn the ignintion on next time. Hope it helps.

    I think the Outlander is a model that still keeps the spirit of the traditionals SUVs while competing in the Crossover market. That exterior tire and the ground clearance of more than 8 inches makes it a very capable SUV.
    In addition, look at the interior, is simple, not complicated and very like a true SUV, not pretending to be a big sedan....
    The Diesel version available in Australia is very cool, like having a mini Montero Sport.
    It is sad it doesnt have air vents in the back, but I really think I can live with that, as my CR-V 2000 doesnt have them either... I am not fan of CVT, but considering the fuel economy, the space inside and the off road capability, that would be a car I can buy, forgiving those details. I mean, it is made in Japan, I can expect durability... After all, the Outlander has been a great car since its second generation, and even thoug the first generation was not that good, there are many of that model still running in the world.

    Changing lanes means you should have your indicator on, when you do that, no beeping..... indicator on means no beeping, get it!

    • @StormSong8
      @StormSong8 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@kristaylor7119 Hi. I'm not the person you replied to but it's been eight months and you haven't got an answer, so I thought I'd chime in here. I recently bought the '16 Outlander GT, which only comes in a V6. Coming off a 6-cylinder BMW I was terrified the 4-banger simply wouldn't give me enough power or responsiveness, and so far I haven't noticed a drop off from the BMW. The rest of the car is perfect for me, but I gotta admit I'm not picky. My biggest complaint is the little hole-pattern in the seats. Those things get stuff in them all the time and they're a pain to clean. Besides that this car has a luxury _feel_, (and if you've driven high-end vehicles you can tell it's strictly a "feel,") at a not-so-luxury price! Besides that, there aren't a million of these around, so people notice it. I'm in love!

    I just purchased this vehicle for my wife. Not the leather seat model shown here. But my wife loves it and it beats her 2004 Grand caravan that was falling apart after 136,000 miles.

    Hey Sam, I have a 2016 Outlander and am ery satisfied with it. I just thought I would comment on where you mentioned there not being any HVAC vents in the back. They actually run underneath the front seats. When I first bough mine i thought the same thing until one day when I was cleaning out the vehicle and since it was hot I had the A/C running and felt the cold air blowing from under the front seat and into the back. I looked under the front seats and there they were.

    • @TestDrivenTV
      @TestDrivenTV  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +mterwill9 Correct, but that doesn't blow air in the upper body which is most important in hot climates.

    I like how Mitsubishi slaps a sticker on the seats saying what to do if they don't work right instead of engineering them to work correctly 100% of the time.

      well its not a mechanical or electrical part where they can just program the seat to not do that small thing. it's better to have that label than 6 months down the line when people like you sue Mitsubishi for something as low as that seat thing saying you were sold a faulty suv for improper 2nd rear seat where you want a refund and a new car, right? I'm sure before they printed thousands of those labels, they did what they could to fix it at that time.

    I would like to see the third row seating to be an option again. Not everyone needs it. The extra storage under the floor there would be a welcome benefit. I used to have the 2003 Outlander (original one) and loved it. Granted, it was not very powerful, but it was adequate for my driving style. With over 200K trouble free miles, I was sold on Mitsubishi's dependability, so I traded it last year for a new 2015 Outlander Sport. So far, very happy.

    • @palebeachbum

      I agree. The third row should be optional. I like this vehicle, but don't need the 3rd row and would much better benefit from extra cargo room.

    It's 2023. I am searching for a used 2nd vehicle. I found a 2016 with low miles ( 71,000) No accidents. So, here I am gathering info. The model I am looking at is the SEL MODEL, ALL WHEEL DRIVE. I need information on the reliability of Mitsubish's transmission. I noticed he didn't cover the wide body panel that collects dirt. It's just waiting to ruin your pants as you exit. I think I like the vehicle and will purchase it.

    A couple of things...First I bought a $5 cigarette lighter adapter for the USB jack to charge my phone. No big deal. Second you can turn off the Lane Departure feature so it doesn't come on all the time by pressing and holding the button for several seconds. I have this SUV and it was the first thing I did when I got it.

    • @TestDrivenTV

      The point the host was making is that it defaults to on, you have to turn it off every time you get in when vehicle is started up again. There is no way to turn it off permanently.

    10:25 Lane Departure Warning... Did you use a blinker? Will it deactivate when you use the blinker? I think its amazing. To many Assholes just change lanes with out using the blinker and then cause an accident or road rage. I am the guy that keeps bolts in the cup holder for people like that...

      +UsfanlovesMinho I only did not like that only way to get LED headlamps is the GT package with a premium fuel only V6, Yet on the SEL I ordered you can upgrade to LED fog lights. Doesn't make much sense so I stuck with halogen on the fog lights. That and no Apple Car Play.

    I own a 2013 AWD Outlander with a 2.4 L motor. Overall I am very happy with my Outlander, it looks cool and rides well, is well made, but it does have a weakness...it is underpowered...really underpowered. I am actually surprised Mitsubishi is still selling a very good vehicle with an underpowered motor. If Mitsubishi wants to sell these, then bump the base motor HP to a minimum of 190 hp and then offer a V6 that is pushing a minimum of 250 hp. Do that, and they'll sell a ton of these.

    You really don't have to be waiting for a shift. It you step on the gas and your speed increases, then it is working. :) If you don't like CVT's than there is the Outlander GT, 6 speed automatic transmission and it also comes with paddle shifters.

    Hmmm, Interesting vehicle. I don't know about allot of the features here. I am not all that impressed. I was hoping for more since Honda, and Toyota, and Nissan give allot more. What is with that back seat. Springy cheap that screams. This from the company that made my favorite cars like the EVO, the Diamond star coupes. The awesome 3000 GT VR4. What are they doing to impress me now? Not too much. I could get more from a Hyundai or Kia than here. It just looks like a half hearted effort from a once great car company that could build great cars.

    i'm on my second mitsubishi....both outlanders (2016 and 2017) Horrible build quality. 4 months into owning it , the ABS module started leaking lots of brake fluid....destroyed all the paint in engine bay and subframe. Mitsubishi said too bad. Now , brand new car with exposed sheet metal ...will rust in a year. Lots of other issues with the car also. side view mirror cracked in half while driving on highway...never seen something like that in my life...nobody believes me...including the dealer. Interior squeaks and rattles after few months of fine pavement driving. I wanted something different than the usual honda and toyota....big costly mistake on my part. also, their dealerships are 3rd world...1 mechanic, 1 service rep..etc.....mom/pop feel when you deal with them. i live in fort lauderdale , so lots of dealers around....all with the same feel....subpar. Good news is they never feel crowded...show rooms are ghost towns. For what you get , their pricing should be way under the competition....by a 1/4 , just to stay in business. Both my cars averaged 15 mpg combined ....for a small suv ( i gave mitsu a shot because of long financing deals they had....6 years at 0 apr....wasn't worth it.
