Ceremonial funeral held for fallen SCDF firefighter Kenneth Tay

Singapore Civil Defence Force officers across the island paid their final respects this morning to the second officer in their history to die in the line of duty. Captain Kenneth Tay died after fighting a fire in the engine room of a marine tanker last week. His casket was fitted onto a Red Rhino fire truck for his ceremonial funeral. As the hearse ambled past, around 150 SCDF officers stood in full salutes. Investigations over Captain Tay's death are still ongoing. Rachel Teng reports.

I could remember the days of the fire at the early robinson building when a fire officer was trapped and pinned under by a falling pillar from the top of the burning building he wss given a fire officers funersl where his coffin was on a fire engine and the officers on each side of the path stand in salute as the coffin and fire truck passed

Accidents happen. Let's wait for the investigation to conclude. The first case was due to commander negligence and the person got charged and jailed. This happens anywhere not just in scdf
