- Panasonic Lumix BS1H In-depth
Panasonic has just announced the Lumix BS1H. A box shape camera that looks virtually identical to the Lumix BGH1 that was announced almost exactly 1 year ago but it has a full frame 24MP sensor just like the Lumix S1H. So in this video, we'll have a look at what the Lumix BS1H is and I'll share with you some of my test results.

They made it extremely small, that's amazing! Thanks for the video Richard, very informative!
Thank you Luca Bono Studio. It is quite a bit smaller and lighter than a S1H
I always love your reviews, Richard. You are very thorough and focus on important aspects and differences

thanks for your great review. Wanna ask - is autofocus working when shooting 6K/5.9K or it's only for 4K and lower. Thanks for your answer...
AF works when shooting all resolution :)
@@TheRealRichardWong Thank you Richard for your soon answer!

Whew....just for a moment I thought this was going to be the new shape of cameras to come but as I watched the video I breathed a sigh of relief, it's only aimed at video people.
I just could not imagine holding that box shape for everyday still shots......give me the Olympus OMD 10 shape ......my ideal camera.......and I'll die happy.
haha but what about a box shape photo camera like a hasselblad 907x or the classic 500c?
@@TheRealRichardWong A classic.....Rollieflex twin lens is a classic too........well maybe that was in the days of film, and large film too..........and only for professionals who wanted large format for large prints or massive cropping etc. which is what they had to do.
That being the case, I have a Kowaflex 127 film camera from the mid 60's and that is a box shape too....I've never used it and only bought it 10 years back because it was collectible and had a very quirky camera feel to it.....a 127 single lens reflex in a very boxy sort of way.
I see there is still a market for the Hasselblad film stuff, but I expect those that indulge in that format are a dying breed......the moment the digital era started, overnight that was the end of film.......I like to see what I've taken as soon as I take it etc.........the biggest advantage of digital is the fact that you can get full colour at minimal cost without breaking the bank as in the developing of colour film or slides etc........the very lowest M/Pixel digital camera now surpasses the best film medium by far and Photoshop won't handle film anyway unless you first scan it and even then the graininess of the film makes it a no go.
Sorry I mean a digital camera with a classic box shape design, like the hasselblad 500c, is that some thing you want?
@@TheRealRichardWong Not really, I'm now an Olympus OMD 10 mark 111 fan......I don't think the square boxy shape is ideal for a digital still camera.....maybe for a video etc.
Thank you for mentioning the trick to take still images with the BS1H. Can this be done while streaming video and without causing any gaps in the vide?
sorry i didn't try that and already sent the camera back to Panasoniic so can't answer this question
Do you know if it do 4K 60 at full frame . ??
I was curious about this.
No it doesn't
No it doesn't. It is basically the S1H sensor and processor
Can you utilise the full sensor with anamorphic mode on? Sorry I got a bit puzzled at 16:29
6k opengate output is full sensor size, you can use with the appropriate anamorphic lens to create anamorphic footage
The file transfer via ethernet absolutely sucks, it takes about 3½ min for 1 gb and for larger files it often times out. and you canot access the files on the card via ethernet, you can only choose to transfer the file you just created. panasonic pls fix this otherwise I really like this camera for studio work
small and powerful!
See you guys at the live stream soon!
You know what the BS stands for.
