- Test ride of the 2018 Honda CB1000R.
I first saw the new Honda CB1000R at the EICMA2018 and I thought that it was one of the most beautiful bikes there, so I am incredibly happy to have had the chance to try it.
The engine is really consistent throughout all the rev range, with a lot of torque available already from a few thousand rpm. In sport mode it likes to wheelie in the first two gears, but never finding you unprepared (unlike the Yamaha MT-10/FZ-10).
In the corners it feels quite light and it's easy to change directions. Strangely the brake and suspension settings are quite European-like, being quite sporty. This is a characteristic that I really appreciate and rarely find in Japanese naked bikes.
Overall, this is the liter 4 cylinder I would buy right now.

Congrats and thank you! First person to upload a video of this bike that actually knows how to ride and was not afraid to demonstrate it's capabilities. I could not sit through another video of someone riding around slow speed just off idle in 4th and 5th gear.

Tell you what I'm just back a test ride on the CB 1000 r I was disappointed it's not as exciting as the Z1000 I was going to trade in...
Never tried the Z1000, so I really can’t say. But now I want to try one!

Excellent video, actually showed us how the bike reacts to quick acceleration, hard braking, left,right switchbacks and two quick high speed runs up to 138-139 mph ( with ease I might add) The bike seems to be very well balanced with excellent brakes and a nice torquey Honda inline 4 cylinder !! Looks like a beautiful place to ride as well !! Excellent Test Ride !! I want one a CB1000R!!
Thank you very much for the feedback! And yes, you are completely right. It’s a very “European” bike on this matter. Stiff suspension, reactive brakes, quick in the direction changes. The engine is perfectly tuned for this kind of road use, it’s the best inline 4 I have tried (I love V-Twins, so I may be biased in this direction).

Well my Sportster 48 is as close as I have to "sport" right now lol. I am looking into sport bikes and plan to go ride a few today. wow! Beautiful bike and great riding. It´s glorious to see someone really enjoying a bike and while riding fast but within the safety margin. That´s how bikes should be ridden, especially on roads like that. Thanks for sharing.

Finally someone is showing the true potential of this bike. TH-cam is full of wackos knowing nothing about this bike. Own it and its absolutely thrilling, aggressive and of course quick and fast. Made my decision after test riding mt10, z1000 and monster. Great bikes but I loved this one. I don't understand how people ride not to know how good is this machine. sometimes I like people being in dark because then I wanna see their jaw dropped.

Love it ! I bought a 2020 in May this year...and am still getting used to it....sport mode scares me still...standard mode has plenty of power, and my previous bike was a 2021 cb650r...

Nice ride man :) 237 km/h.. wow. Actually I know this road between Scilla and Villa San Giovanni. I've been ridinng this road in the opposite direction (from Reggio) when I was on my Calabrian trip. This bike is my dreambike now. Greetings from Czechia ;)

Have CB 2010 myself , but this is a beast!
I had tried the 2010 CB1000 and I had figured it wasn't my style in what concerned the setup. I had a Monster 696 at the time and had felt the suspensions too soft and the braking not as strong and direct (it is also true that I had little to no experience). I loved this one because it's much more "European" in what concerns the setup: firm suspensions and strong braking. Much sportier.

My man, it takes time. Don't rush! I have around 12 years of experience on two wheels and still a lot to learn. Good luck! :)
The ybr125, like most budget 125s, has marshmallow rear suspension and skinny tires, I don't dare corner hard on them either. As soon as you try a larger bike you'll find cornering much easier, despite (in fact, partly because of) their weight. They have wider tires, lower centre of gravity and more stability.

I only tried the new street triple RS, and it was a bit underwhelming. But it would be nice to try the new speed! I always liked Triumphs
Axe991 Yes but here in Australia, this Honda is cheaper than the Street Triple RS let alone the Speed Triple. I'm going to test ride all of them next week.

I'm going to start saving my money for this. I currently have the 2002 Hornet 919 and this is the perfect modern incarnation of that bike :D
Yeah, I didn't like the last few generations of Hornets and CB1000s, but this is incredibly beatuful!
well there are only two other models the first, which looked a lot more like this, then the 2nd. which had Honda's triangle headlight thing and wasn't that great...
This is a true successor though.
Yeah, I was referring to the models with triangular headlight. I never liked them or their restyles.
the triangle one should be considered as a half version :P with this one being the true 2nd Hornet model.
It'd be nice if they had a yellow Hornet livery for it
I’m not so sure about the yellow. It’s quite big and dark colors make it seem the right size
This is an awesome Bike, loving it. Super smooth engine, fast and nimble. I also love the ducati monster 1200 s but enginewhise i would prefer the smothness of Hondas inline four.
