Why plug-ins; Effects & Transitions list on Edius did not changed after several times upgrading Edius, On Edius 10 we want much more plug-ins as much as; Premier, Vegas, Avid & ... Third-party plugins are not available or affordable for all Edius users...
@@EDIUSNET time does not stand still and sound design stands at the same level as video and color correction. It would be nice to make a “revolution” in this regard by combining the principle of sound processing in programs such as cubase or ableton (buses, vts plug-ins, plug-in automation, etc.) and a video editor. as well as quickly make different sequences in one project (sequence 1 - 16: 9 25fps, sequence 2 for social media - 9:16 24fps, I think you get the point). In the "primary color correction" tab, there is no way to adjust the degree of LUT intensity. It is necessary to do these manipulations through "blend filters". And about the color change, I completely agree. so as not to get confused in large projects, it would be nice to color one camera from another (third, fourth, etc.). If this thing has some sort of color correction feaatures like Lumetri Color I'm sold. Since I'm here, I'd love to drop a few suggestions: - Add keyframes on audio effects. When I transition from one music to another, I often use low-pass filters, but I have to stack the music in layers in order to slowly raise the low-pass filter effects, by adding keyframes it would help a lot and save me from having to create multiple tracks just to gradually increase low-pass filters or delay filters. - I'd love to grade colors using HSL, changing values like Hue, Saturation and Luma in individual colors would be amazing, and probably would cut the need of using LUTs :D . - Better tracking when using masks. I use a lot of mask effects on Edius in order to make some transitions. Better tracking would help a lot, the mask follows the objects in the image pretty well, but the individual vectors of the mask.. not so much D: . - Audio effects. Having more of those would be so much better. There should be at least Reverb and Noise Reduction. Those are the ones I'd love to see on Edius. - More blur video effect options. Better motion blur, radial blur (with keyframes too!) and so on. Helps a lot when making transitions. - A slider that changes LUT intensity. I normally do this using the Blend Filter method, I apply the LUT on one side, and the Primary Color Correction with no values changed on the other side. Then I just slide the bar and manually adjust the intensity of the LUT applied. There should be that kind of slider on Primary Color Correction. - The ability to add effects on video tracks. Would save me from applying effects on individual clips (edius often crashes when applying effects on too many clips at once, specially audio effects). That is all I can think off. Edius X looks promising, that background rendering feature is just.. amazing. Been using Edius software since Edius 5.5 and it never disappointed me. Keep up the good work.

If you are able to talk to Alex - PLEASE tell him two easy but very important improvements !!! 1 - Possibility to switch from 50i projest to 50p and reverse. 2 - in Optical flow please add detection of cuts in video ( different scenes). When I change frame rate of the movie from 25p to 50p to make it smooth. It works great but on each cut (next scene) it jerks because it tries to follow movement to next scene (Which is different). If there was a detectiom that the next frame is a different scene - it would be great. Im waiting for it fo many years. Thanks for you job. May be Your voice is lauder then my. Roman

And some of our projects are so complex that I thought to myself that I'd like to have some kind of indicator what part of project I'm in, f.e.: intro v. 1 intro v.2, but with sth easier to recognize than reading tabs names. Like coloring tabs orange for intro of a concert, blue for interviews, yellow for different parts of a concert, and green for ending.

Thank you. I see that when looking at this video again now, the GV Job Monitor that is shown in the video is different from the one on version 10.31.8487. In so much as in what I can see there is no menu on the job monitor and all jobs since stating appear in the window with no method to delete those no longer valid
Hello! This video showed a preview on the upcoming functions in EDIUS X, which are now there. The Job Monitor is available as Tab or stand alone software. In EDIUS 10.31, new functions have been added: You can now select the duration how long old jobs shall be shown. You can set a number of 0-10 days. So ld job will disapear after 0-10 days from the Job Monitor list. You don't need to delete them manually.
This looks far better than I expected! But I have a question: Will it be possible to AUTOMATICALLY render all clips on the timeline? For example, if we put a clip on the timeline that needs to be rendered (or put an effect that needs to be rendered on an existing clip on the timeline), Edius AUTOMATICALLY starts rendering that file. Some NLEs have that option, but there it only works while the timeline cursor is at rest. But with a great engine like the one in the Edius X, it shouldn't be a problem to put it as an option at all, so that this automatic render can be turned on and off. It would be a HUGE help for speeding up advanced and complex project editing. What do you think about that? :-)
Dear MEDIA 53, EDIUS rund on very different systems, so on some systems a non realtime effect will play in realtime. It will be indicated in the color as shown in the video. red means: cannot play in realtime (with some buffering it often goes anyway), orange means that EDIUS does not know yet, the area needs to be played back. If you tell the system to render, you need to desice: all, orange and red, just red. normaly only red is the right choise. but that means, you need to check first if something plays in realtime or not. So it is not so easy to make this process automatically, because it will cost many resources to render things which are not needed to render. But the engine can be extended and grow in the future. The whole background render engine allows new workflows in the future. The EDIUS team is always trying to optimise the workflow.

A PC with a i9-9900K or 9-10900K is a great choice with 16-32GB Ram, M2 Storage for the system and a RTX 2060 GPU. It's not too expansive, but it will give you a really great performamce with EDIUS 9 or X

Hi Michael, Good news that Edius X can render in the background. I look forward to the new features in the future, especially the improvements in the audio mixer and editing. I have a question regarding a new PC to be purchased. AMD processors are very good, the AMD 3950x is affordable and in benchmark tests they do better in video editing than the Intel cpu I9 9900k. Besides rendering, there the Intel performs better with quicksync H264 files. Question: With the GPU RTX 2060/2080 GPU can you export an H264 file in about the same time if you use an AMD Ryzen 9 3900 / 3950X CPU? I suppose the new Edius x as you say will make more efficient use of multicore processors in the near future ... Greetings and keep up the good work!
Dear Bert, in general is a i9-9900K or i9-10900K a great choise for EDIUS. If you add a RTX2060 to it, you have a perfect system. The AMD CPUS are great for jobs which can be scaled on many cores at the same time. not all video codecs do allow that, so it is hard to say that there is this single one perfect system, it depends on the footage you work with. In terms of pricing the intel based systems bring a very good performance, but you will get higher speed with high end AMD systems - which are of course much more expansive. But for some codecs (like based ones) they bring a great power. But still there are some codecs where Quicksync is great help. If you have H.265 encoded files which are encoded in one single stream (single slice) a CPU will have no chance against a GPU based hardware decoder like QuickSync. EDIUS X will allow to encode H.265 via NVidia GPUs directly from the start. But within the EDIUS X livecycle, we will see even more GPU support.
At 11:57, why ist Edius skip the Backgound rendering and dont start automaticly again once the modification on the clip or transition is done. Younhave to restart as far as i have seen. It should be like in the old Fast Multimedia Software of Avid Liquid Versions, where Background rendering did it in the background without any need of user interaction.
EDIUS will only render parts which need to be rendered. So if you change something and EDIUS skip the rendering, it will not automatically render new as the part - in many cases - does not need to be rendered after the change. EDIUS is a realtime editing software, so the priority is always on "not to render". But in some cases, you need to - and here the background rendering is very usefull. Even the early EDIUS version could do thing in realtime where Liquid had to render...
Yes, I agrree, that Edius is a great Realtime Editor. No doubt on this. But we use also a lot of 3rd party plugins like prodad once and others. Therefore you have to render any time and on each change. Therefore to do the rendering automaticly in the background this would be very convinent. No need to fire up every time again.
Wonderful!!! I really want to leave my current editing software and start and purchase Edius X. However i am editing and reframing 360 videos from eg Gopro Max and Insta360. Can i do this with Edius as well? Adobe Premiere and Davinci can do this even like Magix video deluxe
EDIUS does not yet offer 360° editing as there is very little request for that. EDIUS has probably the most powerful 3D stereo possibilities, but here also only very few users are interessted. If more customers as for it, EDIUS will get it 360° editing, but not right now.

All of these users are forced to either use Adobe, Davinci, Magix etc. Be aware that 360 cameras have really improved so Edius would be able to increase their customer base !
Well they seem interesting improvements. Some questions: 1) With Intel 9900k and Nvidia Rtx export to h264 it occurs only with quick sync, only with the RTX video card engine or using both? But by exporting in the background what will be the decrease of export speed in h264 compared to Edius 9? 2) Edius Pro X will always have the problem of internet connection at startup or it will finally be like the workgroup versions that do not need connection once the software is activated?
Dear Paolo, 1) You can use the hardware acceleration of QuickSync and Nvidia at the same time. For example you can have a H.265 clip on the timeline with a color correction and you wnt to output it in H.265. Than QuickSync will be used to decode the H.265 clips and NVidia will be used for the acceleration of the primary color correction and the H.265 encoder (if you activate the H.264/H,265 decoding for QuickSync (standard: already activated), select the NVidia GPU as hardware acceleration for the Primary Color Correction and the Nvidia hardware encoder for output. The rendering in EDIUS X will not be slower than in EDIUS 9, it will be faster in many cases as EDIUS X is using the newer hardware more effective (and is no longer supporting older Systems with CPUs without AVX2 support or Windows 7/8.1). 2) There is an offline activation possible if needed. Talk to your reseller about this.
Well a good job was done then. As for activation I meant the fact that with edius 8 and Edius 9 it is necessary to have the PC connected to the internet (or at least often to check the license) when Edius is started while in the Workgroup version this is not necessary once activated. If you have pc not connected to the internet or you have problems with the internet you cannot work, so it would be better if it were like the Workgroup version.

Dear Aleassandro, Sure, all you need to use is a hardware with SD/HD-component in/out. You can use a Storm 3G Elite or a Storm Pro Bay - or a Blackmagic card with YUV connections like an Decklink Studio card.

You can change the setting that "stop playback at frame loss". For more realtime power you can reduce resulution, work with lower frame rate in preview (new in EDIUS X Version 10.30) or work in proxy mode.
intel CPU with QS gives you a lot of power for H.264/H.265 encoding and decoding - so it is a very good choice for formats based on H.264/H.265 compression. If you maily work with other codecs like HQX or ProRES, AMD is also fine and sometimes better.
I would like to be able to use it but your programs in Argentina cost a lot of money, would you give me a key to your new program? I am currently using another, and I sincerely need to be able to continue working with better quality, and your program would be ideal.
EDIUS X includes the background Render Option which is a kind of internal XRE. So for both Pro AND workgroup. Workgroup allows also to buy an additional XRE and use a server for renderings for one or many Workgroup systems.

Umm, what happened to the "Render and add to timeline" function under the render menu? I hope you didn't remove that feature. It comes in handy sometimes. :(
This is still in didscussion as it does not really fit into a background rendering process. But there will be a solution - you are right, the option can be really useful.

Hoping version X comes with a huge marketing push, even if, truth be told, I kinda like the exclusivity that comes with using a product that not too many have heard of. :)
When you release ediusx, you promise to provide acceleration support for more GPUs. So far, there is no official reply about GPU acceleration of AMD and NVIDIA. Users really need H264 and hevc decoding acceleration, followed by coding. When can the official reply me? thanks!

Yes, like most other editors today. Windows 7 is no longer supported by Microsoft and Wdinwos 8.1 has some limitations. With Windows 10 EDIUS can get more powerful. But use the EDIUS 9 "Plus" Promotion to buy EDIUS 9 now and get EDIUS X for free. Than you can still use EDIUS 9 under Windows 7/8.1. Best regards!

No support for Radeon 5600XT, no buy here sorry Edius 10 looking good tho, Magix VPX fully support my card that is one of the biggest reason I went with them this time around it feels so snappy I coundn't resist jumping from VPX6, hope Edius Pro 11 will support Radeon cards as I'm still on Edius Pro 8 for now ;)

2 - in Optical flow please add detection of cuts in video ( different scenes).
When I change frame rate of the movie from 25p to 50p to make it smooth. It works great but on each cut (next scene) it jerks because it tries to follow movement to next scene (Which is different). If there was a detectiom that the next frame is a different scene - it would be great.

And some of our projects are so complex that I thought to myself that I'd like to have some kind of indicator what part of project I'm in, f.e.: intro v. 1 intro v.2, but with sth easier to recognize than reading tabs names. Like coloring tabs orange for intro of a concert, blue for interviews, yellow for different parts of a concert, and green for ending.

In so much as in what I can see there is no menu on the job monitor and all jobs since stating appear in the window with no method to delete those no longer valid
Hello! This video showed a preview on the upcoming functions in EDIUS X, which are now there. The Job Monitor is available as Tab or stand alone software. In EDIUS 10.31, new functions have been added: You can now select the duration how long old jobs shall be shown. You can set a number of 0-10 days. So ld job will disapear after 0-10 days from the Job Monitor list. You don't need to delete them manually.
This looks far better than I expected!
But I have a question: Will it be possible to AUTOMATICALLY render all clips on the timeline? For example, if we put a clip on the timeline that needs to be rendered (or put an effect that needs to be rendered on an existing clip on the timeline), Edius AUTOMATICALLY starts rendering that file. Some NLEs have that option, but there it only works while the timeline cursor is at rest. But with a great engine like the one in the Edius X, it shouldn't be a problem to put it as an option at all, so that this automatic render can be turned on and off. It would be a HUGE help for speeding up advanced and complex project editing. What do you think about that? :-)
Dear MEDIA 53, EDIUS rund on very different systems, so on some systems a non realtime effect will play in realtime. It will be indicated in the color as shown in the video. red means: cannot play in realtime (with some buffering it often goes anyway), orange means that EDIUS does not know yet, the area needs to be played back. If you tell the system to render, you need to desice: all, orange and red, just red. normaly only red is the right choise. but that means, you need to check first if something plays in realtime or not. So it is not so easy to make this process automatically, because it will cost many resources to render things which are not needed to render. But the engine can be extended and grow in the future. The whole background render engine allows new workflows in the future. The EDIUS team is always trying to optimise the workflow.

A PC with a i9-9900K or 9-10900K is a great choice with 16-32GB Ram, M2 Storage for the system and a RTX 2060 GPU. It's not too expansive, but it will give you a really great performamce with EDIUS 9 or X

This is still in discussion, but it is on the wishlist. Right now you can use a nested sequence and put the filter on the whole sequence.

I have a question regarding a new PC to be purchased. AMD processors are very good, the AMD 3950x is affordable and in benchmark tests they do better in video editing than the Intel cpu I9 9900k. Besides rendering, there the Intel performs better with quicksync H264 files. Question: With the GPU RTX 2060/2080 GPU can you export an H264 file in about the same time if you use an AMD Ryzen 9 3900 / 3950X CPU? I suppose the new Edius x as you say will make more efficient use of multicore processors in the near future ...

Dear Bert, in general is a i9-9900K or i9-10900K a great choise for EDIUS. If you add a RTX2060 to it, you have a perfect system. The AMD CPUS are great for jobs which can be scaled on many cores at the same time. not all video codecs do allow that, so it is hard to say that there is this single one perfect system, it depends on the footage you work with. In terms of pricing the intel based systems bring a very good performance, but you will get higher speed with high end AMD systems - which are of course much more expansive. But for some codecs (like based ones) they bring a great power. But still there are some codecs where Quicksync is great help. If you have H.265 encoded files which are encoded in one single stream (single slice) a CPU will have no chance against a GPU based hardware decoder like QuickSync. EDIUS X will allow to encode H.265 via NVidia GPUs directly from the start. But within the EDIUS X livecycle, we will see even more GPU support.

At 11:57, why ist Edius skip the Backgound rendering and dont start automaticly again once the modification on the clip or transition is done. Younhave to restart as far as i have seen. It should be like in the old Fast Multimedia Software of Avid Liquid Versions, where Background rendering did it in the background without any need of user interaction.
EDIUS will only render parts which need to be rendered. So if you change something and EDIUS skip the rendering, it will not automatically render new as the part - in many cases - does not need to be rendered after the change. EDIUS is a realtime editing software, so the priority is always on "not to render". But in some cases, you need to - and here the background rendering is very usefull. Even the early EDIUS version could do thing in realtime where Liquid had to render...
Yes, I agrree, that Edius is a great Realtime Editor. No doubt on this. But we use also a lot of 3rd party plugins like prodad once and others. Therefore you have to render any time and on each change. Therefore to do the rendering automaticly in the background this would be very convinent. No need to fire up every time again.
Wonderful!!! I really want to leave my current editing software and start and purchase Edius X. However i am editing and reframing 360 videos from eg Gopro Max and Insta360. Can i do this with Edius as well? Adobe Premiere and Davinci can do this even like Magix video deluxe
EDIUS does not yet offer 360° editing as there is very little request for that. EDIUS has probably the most powerful 3D stereo possibilities, but here also only very few users are interessted. If more customers as for it, EDIUS will get it 360° editing, but not right now.

All of these users are forced to either use Adobe, Davinci, Magix etc. Be aware that 360 cameras have really improved so Edius would be able to increase their customer base !

1) You can use the hardware acceleration of QuickSync and Nvidia at the same time.
For example you can have a H.265 clip on the timeline with a color correction and you wnt to output it in H.265.
Than QuickSync will be used to decode the H.265 clips and NVidia will be used for the acceleration of the primary color correction and the H.265 encoder (if you activate the H.264/H,265 decoding for QuickSync (standard: already activated), select the NVidia GPU as hardware acceleration for the Primary Color Correction and the Nvidia hardware encoder for
output.
The rendering in EDIUS X will not be slower than in EDIUS 9, it will be faster in many cases as EDIUS X is using the newer hardware more effective (and is no longer supporting older Systems with CPUs without AVX2 support or Windows 7/8.1).
2) There is an offline activation possible if needed. Talk to your reseller about this.

As for activation I meant the fact that with edius 8 and Edius 9 it is necessary to have the PC connected to the internet (or at least often to check the license) when Edius is started while in the Workgroup version this is not necessary once activated. If you have pc not connected to the internet or you have problems with the internet you cannot work, so it would be better if it were like the Workgroup version.

Dear Aleassandro, Sure, all you need to use is a hardware with SD/HD-component in/out. You can use a Storm 3G Elite or a Storm Pro Bay - or a Blackmagic card with YUV connections like an Decklink Studio card.

You can change the setting that "stop playback at frame loss". For more realtime power you can reduce resulution, work with lower frame rate in preview (new in EDIUS X Version 10.30) or work in proxy mode.

Is Intel CPU with QS more recommended than AMD for Edius X?
intel CPU with QS gives you a lot of power for H.264/H.265 encoding and decoding - so it is a very good choice for formats based on H.264/H.265 compression. If you maily work with other codecs like HQX or ProRES, AMD is also fine and sometimes better.

This video seems to be for Edius X workgroup! not pro! In the pro version NO XRE option
EDIUS X includes the background Render Option which is a kind of internal XRE. So for both Pro AND workgroup. Workgroup allows also to buy an additional XRE and use a server for renderings for one or many Workgroup systems.
Oh, I forgot, why no support for mkv video's?
mkv is still on the wishlist, but there are not so many requests for mkv.

This is still in didscussion as it does not really fit into a background rendering process. But there will be a solution - you are right, the option can be really useful.

Hoping version X comes with a huge marketing push, even if, truth be told, I kinda like the exclusivity that comes with using a product that not too many have heard of. :)
Oh, and it would be great if Edius had a feature where marker comments can be exported directly as subtitle files (like .srt or something similar). :)

When you release ediusx, you promise to provide acceleration support for more GPUs. So far, there is no official reply about GPU acceleration of AMD and NVIDIA. Users really need H264 and hevc decoding acceleration, followed by coding.

Yes, like most other editors today. Windows 7 is no longer supported by Microsoft and Wdinwos 8.1 has some limitations. With Windows 10 EDIUS can get more powerful. But use the EDIUS 9 "Plus" Promotion to buy EDIUS 9 now and get EDIUS X for free. Than you can still use EDIUS 9 under Windows 7/8.1. Best regards!
