Without tasting, I know this is a delicious pie. I really like your knuckle shaping method of the pie crust, Marie. That is clever. We enjoy pecan pie and usually have it only around holiday season. I just might have to make a "sample pie" prior to the holidays...if you know what I mean!!!! You know, just to make sure it "tastes" ok. 😁 💖
Yes to the sample pie Joan! Love it ☺️ Glad you like the knuckle technique 👍🏻 My mom taught me years ago and I’ve always done it that way. I can feel her with me when I do it now ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Sue! This one is my husband’s favorite 🥰 We make it one just about every holiday! And his birthday 🥳 I do love the texture of this pie - all pecan and not a lot of gooey filler like you find in some pecan pie. Hugs, Marie
So easy and appetizint! I'll try it this season. Question: what does the corn syrope do other than sweetness. Can we omit it and add more sugar instead? Thanks in advance.
followed directions to a "T" (temp is oven is accurate) crust burnt and pie didn't set:( I did use a deep dish pie plate would that have caused the problem?
@@marieskitchen Great thank you, I made the pie with the homemade crust (minus the bourbon) it was delicious. Will make again because I want to perfection that crust like you do. Mine was not as pretty haha
@@sherrybaby6234 you’ll get there! Did you see the video with the mixer version? It’s called “Easy Pie Crust Tutorial” 👍🏻 Made it especially for you 😊 Hope it’s helpful!
Marie I just subscribed to your channel and came along to this recipe. I infused my vanilla with bourbon. Can I use that in the place of the bourbon? If so how much and than I wouldn’t be using the vanilla correct, I think your recipe called for it as well I thought. I’m really enjoying your channel. I also commented in another place where I shouldn’t have please disregard that one. It’s a duplicate of this comment. Sorry I’m in my 60’s and this internet is kind of hard for me. Many blessings to you. Lori
Hi Lori! Bourbon infused vanilla would be lovely! Yes, you can omit the additional vanilla and I think probably go with 1 Tablespoon of the infused vanilla. You could use 2 Tablespoons. Honestly with bourbon and vanilla in pecan pie, you really can’t go wrong 😁 Hope that helps! So glad you’re enjoying my channel - I’m happy you’re here! Hugs, Marie
Such a great instructional video! Questions: Did you cover the edges at any point during baking? And also, can you show a fruit pie w/tips to avoid runny filling and soggy crust or pumpkin pie that had to be blind baked and tips to avoid undercooked crust? (We’ve obviously experienced all the oopsies) Thank you!!
Hi Kat! Thanks so much for watching and also for the kind feedback! 😊 IAnd great questions! I can’t remember if I covered the crust with this pie 😅, but I don’t usually with pecan. I usually cover the crust with pumpkin and sometimes apple. I use a “pie shield” that you can buy on Amazon or at homegoods store, but aluminum foil works just as well. 👍🏻 To avoid runny fruit fillings, i use 3-4 Tablespoons corn starch in the filling and then don’t take it out until you can see the filling bubbling (that means the filling has reached a boil, which activates the cornstarch). 👍🏻 Regarding pumpkin pie, I don’t usually blind bake my crust, but here is a video you might like: th-cam.com/video/zzGVXoANGes/w-d-xo.html It goes over blind baking and par-baking, two concepts you’ll see a lot in pie baking but which aren’t explained very well in recipes! Hope it helpful ❤️, Marie

@@marieskitchen Will do!
Hey Marie, could you please do a recipe for a good home made Cheese Cake? Please.
👍
I’ve watched this three times. She didn’t blind bake. So I didn’t either. I’ll let you know tomorrow ( Thanksgiving Day) how it goes.
More Bourbon 🥃 😄😄😄
Ha! Yes please ☺️ Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more new recipes soon 👍🏻
