Fun Fact: Daniel has never done a crane kick in any of the five Cobra Kai seasons before this one. Johnny did it to mock him and Miguel used it in the first tournament, but Daniel was saving it for the perfect moment after 50 episodes to take down his greatest enemy. Epic.

I personally would have preferred Daniel to defeat Silver with that "Back-Spin Kick" characteristic from Terry. Like, he not only uses his technique against him, but he also defeats him by using his signature move. Likewise, this way is still epic and iconic.

This is really where Daniel shines. Combining the teachings of both Mr Miyagi and Chozen to show he's fully mastered Miyagi-Do, he uses an Eagle Fang move all while using Terry's own Quicksilver method against him. Daniel has finally found the balance and combined everything he's learned into his own style.

Ok, when you put it like that.....
Honestly, when I saw him getting into that stance, I was like there is no way Daniel can beat Silver straight up & not only that, he's gonna beat him w/ this garbage move??? The fact that he basically caught Terry by surprise w/ it was all I was accepting. If this universe never happened & someone did that stance & kick in real life, you'd see it from a mile away. & because of that, I didn't think we'd see it again cause it's too predictable, even for this universe. But w/ you mentioning Daniel really finding peace throughout this season & finding balance (literally & figuratively) it makes sense for that to be the finale.

Two things I absolutely loved about this scene:
    1. In Karate Kid 3 when Terry Silver fought Miyagi, Miyagi finishes the fight by throwing Silver into the mirrors lining the dojo, shattering them. The shattering of the Cobra Kai logo after the crane kick is a nice reference back to that fight.
    2. At the end of Karate Kid 3 right before overtime against Barnes, Miyagi's final advice to Daniel was that while it's okay to lose to your opponent, you can't lose to fear, and that Daniel needed to focus on the task at hand and let out his best karate. After spending much of Season 5 being paranoid about what Silver would do, and even getting beaten up by Silver in stingray's apartment when he was genuinely afraid (for himself, but mostly for his wife, kids, and students), you can see there was a marked change in Daniel by this point. His approach to the final fight with Silver was composed, focused and devoid of fear, allowing him to let out his best karate and beat his opponent. It was really a fantastic way to end the Season. To echo the thoughts of others, it's really commendable how well the writers and producers of this show stay true to Miyagi's teachings and weave that through the fabric of the show. It's very well done.
As a final point, Thomas Ian Griffith has been plain awesome in his reprised role as Terry Silver. To think the guy hasn't even really been acting for the last 15 years. I hope he gets some more work out of this, even on other shows.

More important to the flawless victory than his fight with Chozen is how utterly angry and out of control Silver was by all the events of that night. The team had done exactly as chozen said would be needed to beat the snake. They played the mind game. Silver was losing when he came in rattled. He was beaten when “his” students didn’t respond to his verbal promptings (what he told Robby about being heard and listened to). But if someone cant see and think clearly they cant fight. For example Daniel lost to Terry silver earlier because Daniel wasnt able to think or see straight because he was so blinded by rage. Daniel always wins when he is most balanced. Terry wasnt seeing straight and was unbalanced, he underestimated Daniel and let his arrogance get in the way, which a theme that happens to many characters such as Chozen in karate kid 2, Mike Barnes in the all valley and John Kresse in season 3. Mike Barnes was a better fighter than Daniel but He lets his arrogance get to his head unlike Daniel who remained balanced.

In KK1, Daniel is naturally considered the hero because we see him rise up from being bullied and beat on by Johnny and his Cobra Kia henchmen, without really knowing why Johnny was so enraged by Daniel.
In the movie, we don't have much of a back story for Johnny, except that he's perceived as the angry ex. The shows master stroke of having Johnny, with intermingled clips from the movie, explain his side of the story. Johnny's story is very credible and looking at it from perspective, some the thing Daniel did the movie could be considered as provocative, but it did make me think that maybe Daniel isn't the as good as he thinks he is, especially considering his show off behaviour towards Johnny when he visits his car showroom.

He tried to use them as a weapon against Daniel, but Daniel kicked him against the wall, shattering the symbol of Cobra Kai, just like Silver shattered his reputation with his students and allies. It's one of Terry Silver's signature moves, designed to disable an opponent by knocking the wind out of them and making them temporarily unable to breathe.
He taught it to a few Cobra Kai students, for example Kenny used it on Hawk and it ended the fight because Hawk couldn't get up.
I think what they were going for was if Terry himself had landed it on Daniel then Daniel would have been down for the count too, but he beat it.

Silver made so many major mistakes along the way that, by the time he worked his way back up to Daniel, all of his strong suits became worthless.
Chief among them was needlessly making enemies out of those he might have found useful. Burned down Mike's furniture shop, which effectively got the guy on the side of a punch-clock enemy. Chozen made him work for his last win, and by the time he went down, he had drained more than enough of Silver's energy for the main opponent to finish the job.

What I really love about this Show is that they stay true to the color theme until the end. So far Daniel wore mostly blue and Johnny mostly Red. In this final and most important scene he wears purple. This resembles his fighting style so much in this scene. He combines elements of myagi-do (blue), Eagle fang (Red) and chozens additional flavour from myagi-do (Black) which equals in a dark purple! Such a nice Detail through out the Show!

This might be my favorite fight in the series based on the symbolism and parallels.
Daniel taking what Silver once taught him, and throwing it back in his face.
He also used the screaming eagle, which shows he's willing to use Johnny's techniques at a moments notice.
Just like the legendary Mr Miyagi; he didn't take a hit the entire fight, further humiliating Silver.
The kids throw their shirts down at Silver, just like in KK3 when Daniel beat Mike.
Terry mocked the crane kick numerous times, only to have it be the final blow. The irony that he once said Daniel couldn't rely on it.
Just like Mr Miyagi, Daniel knocked Silver into the glass behind him.
Silver taught Daniel those techniques under the idea of "doing some real damage", yet Daniel manages to control them here, and not do excessive damage to Silver.
And of course, Silver once had the obsession of making Daniel bleed, yet there he was with blood running down his own face.
Probably the most poetic fight in the entire series, and a great way of "show don't tell"

In my opinion, I think we finally saw Daniel finally learned Mr. Miyagi’s most important lesson, that one day he will create his own style of karate. He did master the Miyagi-do teachings and he also learned the Cobra Kai teachings. The fact that Silver didn’t land a single hit on Daniel is only something Mr. Miyagi was able to do. I am very glad they used the crane kick for the final kick. Silver always told Daniel the crane kick would never work and Silver didn’t even realize what hit him. This is an underrated comment because people reference the first fight from earlier in the season where Terry won and say it's unrealistic how Daniel beat him so easily not long after. But if you compare the two, in the first fight Daniel was the aggressor. He was pushing the fight and Terry was countering him for it because he knows how to handle aggression, it's his style. In this fight Daniel let Terry lead and used Miyagi-Do mixed with a little Quicksilver to win the fight, it was Daniel going back to his roots and using the style that made him who he is to win.

When I learned that Terry was being brought back for Cobra kai I was stoked and now that I watched the entire 4 and 5 seasons I can safely say, that Thomas did yet again, an incredible part as the shows villain. He was the best thing in the entire show and that's saying a lot for a show that has so many wonderful characters and great scenes.
