There are a couple scenes with KR and Allison in The Vow that still gut me every time. The first one is when they are on their late night walk talking about branding and he asks her something like “What would you have liked to have been asked before your branding?” And she answers for herself and he immediately flips it around and says “It’s not all about you”. She then laughs confusingly and says “I thought you were asking me” to which he says “Oh that should be on a poster for narcissists.”
    F-ing projection 101 right there.

Nailed this inflexibility of thought phenomena I have been observing. If both sides are staunchly believing "the other is wrong" of course people stop having productive conversations and become more siloed. The real issues aren't addressed since the "sideism" (my made up concept) becomes the center focus. We can't have productive debates because you know who has decided the only arguing point is to point the finger and say "you're wrong." The current online environment also seems to make people irrationally angry when an argument they have been stewing over online presents itself in real life (even when someone is not trying to make them upset, they get hyper defensive--I have done this myself too). There's this 0 to a 100 reaction thing going on in most of us since we are online so much.

yes I end up categorizing my verbal interaction with others as conversation or still in the realm of moving to potential conversation(this requires an open mind and suspending the ego momentarily I imagine holding it above my head where it’s out of the way until I need it back) or there is verbal competition and the indicators of this are usually easy to spot immediately although sometimes there’s a processing delay while our ego resists or even momentarily falls into it. Verbal competitions are just not productive on any level except maybe vetting my ability to disengage my ego to protect myself from a waste of time. Many don’t even know the difference or lack the capacity, but I still always find plenty to converse and I believe in others ability to become self aware and I don’t need to waste any time worrying about those that don’t.

There's no sides it's just people behaving like children and very selfish and narcissistically and what you're seeing it's really a mix of those who're too impressionable to think and really believe other people are wrong, or people who know what they're doing and purposely lying or telling the truth in order to hurt others and telling the truth is one of the best ways to manipulate people because lies can be hidden within that truth.
Honestly on social media i left that a while ago now because it's become so unsafe and it's being used to divide people because they do nothing to stop it and they'll allow this to keep going until it falls apart, as usual like they always do and they're making money from selling any little thing people post on it. It makes people care about things that they don't even really care about either it makes them withdrawn, depressed, anxious, and lose their ability to socialize with people and become very insecure in themselves.
I really want them to be closed down now and i was all for them before but it's now hurt too many people and it's hurt me too, i am seeing signs of this starting to happen with how things are being regulated but they need to make sure it doesn't come back in some other form because i hate what it's doing to all of us. People complain of free speech but there is none if we can't actually have any belief or opinions of our own, but we don't have to have opinions on everything either a lot of things we probably should just keep to ourselves, it doesn't have to be said and that is how it used to be before social media people knew when to have an opinion and when not to.

Something I have often pondered is this quote from Hamlet: "There is nothing either good nor bad, but thinking makes it so." When you talk about 'book smart', that is what I think he's talking about. Perhaps it is over-reliance on the left hemisphere.
To me, trying to create consistent 'policy' is the problem, it just generates ideology based on pure thought, complete separate from the reality of living beings. You don't need a policy to see when a real person in front of you (not an abstract idea) is being harmed.

I work in a hospital as an STNA and used to work with disabled adults and kids. I've had so many patients and clients who abused people but were also horrifically abused themselves. I wish life was more cut and dry but it just isn't. Monsters often turn their victims into monsters themselves. Very few abusers are straight up Sociopaths like Rainere. Oh my goodness yes! Fellow ex cult survivor here, Im intimately familiar with the head f*ck situations and I'm also looking at the current political landscape and seeing the cult like double down instead of using critical thinking. The pile on if you step out of line. The shunning of tribes members if they say the wrong thing. The absolute hot seat you are always in if you submit yourself to these rules. You are guaranteed to get cancelled at some point. So you have those who submit fully with their silence, or those dissenters who get shunned

As a shaman (yes I am) I have seen the game metaphysically. It is a worldwide game being played I call "harem holding". The Men (if they can earn it easily go full tilt like Tiger Woods had 8 in his harem before he had to admit I am a junkie harem holding Man). Some can't earn a harem. The abuse we suffer at the hands of a not able to earn a "harem" male. Pitiful. So they treat it like this...If they "get your devotion" BINGO now the energetic cords and wounding is possible to siphon, extract, embezzle, take, pilfer, wheeze the juice, vampire, parasite, (you get it) and then they go off to find another Female they can "bleed" for her superior LOOSH. Yes they are BANKRUPT (for the most part) and a good, kind, honest, respectful, loyal FEMALE is the MOST VALUABLE SITUATION ANY MALE CAN EARN. But they are WASTERELS and fortune hunters and have no REAL RESPECT OR APPRECIATION, really it is all just energetic COMMERCE !!! That is when the "gaslighting" begins as they try to wound and hide the FACT that they have zero loyalty. ZERO !!! Ninety five percent are along these lines and some are even switch hitters, so ya !!!
    Some dilemmas are METAPHYSICAL.

This happens with famous people as well- for example people will say "I don’t support predatory behaviour against children” and then buy tickets to see see the Red Hot Chilli Peppers knowing full well the 50 year old lead singer is dating an 18 year old child and defend it… meanwhile if someone who was a part of the a political party that wasn’t their affiliation did the same thing, they would shout loudly from the roof tops about how terrible it was.

What worries me when someone hollers about adrenochrome, etc. is that they're hurting actual anti-trafficking organizations like Save the Children. On the flip side, the disturbing number of people close to Trump who have been caught with CSAM really points out the need to not assume that those who cry out against something are necessarily against it.

@@AbsurdOblivion That's absolutely true and the phenomena he's talking about is definitely a thing, but his example to support it isn't a good one. People weren't minimising the threat of child sex trafficking, they were reacting against the batshit Q-anon conspiracies about Democrats running a deep state pedophilia ring that the far right pushes, because the lead actor of the film gave unhinged speeches at Q-anon rallies not long before the release of the film, and the guy who made the film is himself an unhinged idiot going around larping as some hero doing what the FBI won't do and busting child sex rings, when he didn't do squat.
