The key to narcissists is that they say and do to get what they want or to get others to do what they want. Questioning them as to their motivations usually leads to anger or defense and that's how you spot and out them.

I think when voting for a candidate or party it's important to knowledge a party or candidate's flaws, even if you ultimately decide you need to vote for them to stop an even worse candidate. Just because you voted for someone doesn't mean you can't also protest certain actions or policies of theirs.
Spot on. I don't feel comfortable with kamala Harris stance on Palestinians or the fracking support. The anti Trump rethoric which I must admit worked, until one year ago, faded, I felt used even if I still think the other candidate is dangerous. This video makes me think how we can be easily irrational on a given subject.
@@pikebishop8516 If I was American I'd probably vote Harris because I see 45 as the bigger threat but I would agree that Israel/Palestine and fracking are two of her bigger minuses and I hope that if she's voted in pressure is put on her on those areas. Here in Canada there are three major parties and next year I'll be voting for someone I do like, but keeping someone else out does factor a little into my vote.
Really? Are ya super sure? I mean about assigning this particular video, as a requirement to all of human kind? Seems like a bit of a reach. Here is an insight, white Americans are I the most selfish and delusional humans ever. Y’all shouldn’t be allowed to think or talk after being in a cult
Mark watch the new documentary from Russia with Lev about Lev Parnas getting out if a political cult, and how he went to prison and realized he was in a cult and had been deceived by them to do their bidding to get rid of political enemies. It’s fantastically done and the guy really knew a lot on inside corruption because he was being to,f by the cult that the other side was bad. Watch it no matter who you like. I loved it and think lev is an incredible and good guy who got used. He even said I I never thought I would be conned by a cult because he was a street guy. He is from Ukraine. It’s really a good story about redemption too, he’s trying to make things right.
Nailed this inflexibility of thought phenomena I have been observing. If both sides are staunchly believing "the other is wrong" of course people stop having productive conversations and become more siloed. The real issues aren't addressed since the "sideism" (my made up concept) becomes the center focus. We can't have productive debates because you know who has decided the only arguing point is to point the finger and say "you're wrong." The current online environment also seems to make people irrationally angry when an argument they have been stewing over online presents itself in real life (even when someone is not trying to make them upset, they get hyper defensive--I have done this myself too). There's this 0 to a 100 reaction thing going on in most of us since we are online so much.
yes I end up categorizing my verbal interaction with others as conversation or still in the realm of moving to potential conversation(this requires an open mind and suspending the ego momentarily I imagine holding it above my head where it’s out of the way until I need it back) or there is verbal competition and the indicators of this are usually easy to spot immediately although sometimes there’s a processing delay while our ego resists or even momentarily falls into it. Verbal competitions are just not productive on any level except maybe vetting my ability to disengage my ego to protect myself from a waste of time. Many don’t even know the difference or lack the capacity, but I still always find plenty to converse and I believe in others ability to become self aware and I don’t need to waste any time worrying about those that don’t.
There's no sides it's just people behaving like children and very selfish and narcissistically and what you're seeing it's really a mix of those who're too impressionable to think and really believe other people are wrong, or people who know what they're doing and purposely lying or telling the truth in order to hurt others and telling the truth is one of the best ways to manipulate people because lies can be hidden within that truth. Honestly on social media i left that a while ago now because it's become so unsafe and it's being used to divide people because they do nothing to stop it and they'll allow this to keep going until it falls apart, as usual like they always do and they're making money from selling any little thing people post on it. It makes people care about things that they don't even really care about either it makes them withdrawn, depressed, anxious, and lose their ability to socialize with people and become very insecure in themselves. I really want them to be closed down now and i was all for them before but it's now hurt too many people and it's hurt me too, i am seeing signs of this starting to happen with how things are being regulated but they need to make sure it doesn't come back in some other form because i hate what it's doing to all of us. People complain of free speech but there is none if we can't actually have any belief or opinions of our own, but we don't have to have opinions on everything either a lot of things we probably should just keep to ourselves, it doesn't have to be said and that is how it used to be before social media people knew when to have an opinion and when not to.
I cant wait till Alison finally tells her story. She probably will never get her career back but she could sell her story for sure.... Make her very own documentary like India Oxenberg did. I cant imagine giving up your career to have some S&M polygamist relationship with that troll Kieth instead. Most of these people came to NXIVM to help their careers, not to make NXIVM their career. Bonnie was smart enough not to forget that part.
@@angelcitystudio yikes, I looked it up and she literally just got of prison (super early for testifying) so again I am gonna just say maybe currently mental health should be the priority. Can't imagine escaping a cult and then watching the entire country go down the same path. Loved DTRH though, had a big impact on me when I seen it in my teens. Keep it up Mark
I witnessed this all the time in the movement I was involved with 🤕 - "This terrible thing is happening" ~ "No, that's a conspiracy theory, what's wrong with you?" - "Here's a verifiable case of it happening" ~ "Clearly it was right for that person, why would you have a problem with that?"
The question that interests me is how to build good things in this world and also stay sane. Too much distortion everywhere. Power games and suppression. I want to create and build positive things, yet the landscapes are really hard to navigate lately.
This is absolutely what happened in the ANC in South African politics. There was/is so much talk about “don’t split the organization”. This is actually 100% accurate.
Thanks for sharing Mark. I’m so, so interested in your upcoming documentary. Any new release dates? I hope the time it’s taking is not because you’re being blocked by distributors, but is because you’re spending time on the edit. Good luck :)
Thanks for the video...The Alison Mack anecdote reminds me of that Milgram experiment in social psychology, done in the early 50s, might want to check it out. Something I have often pondered is this quote from Hamlet: "There is nothing either good nor bad, but thinking makes it so." When you talk about 'book smart', that is what I think he's talking about. Perhaps it is over-reliance on the left hemisphere. To me, trying to create consistent 'policy' is the problem, it just generates ideology based on pure thought, complete separate from the reality of living beings. You don't need a policy to see when a real person in front of you (not an abstract idea) is being harmed.
Allison Mack is still serving her sentence technically. She is also a victim of KR. Yes she should be held accountable for the harm that she perpetrated against others, and that is a hard lesson to learn, but I do believe we are intelligent enough to hold her accountable with the compassion that acknowledges the complexity of her situation.
Hello, Mark! Just finished watching The Vow for the 4th time. Hadn't listened to your vlog for awhile and looked you up! I am a sometime protester of the cult of Scientology and of course, with my interest in coercive control, I try to always tell those fortunate enough to have escaped their situation how much I admire you. And Bonnie of course. About a month ago someone posted on the Frank Report a Nancy sighting! Have ya'll spoken to any other's since Raniere's conviction? Anyway, you're all heroes and hope you have a fantastic Christmas and New Year 😊!❤❤❤❤
First of all Mark I enjoy your podcast SO MUCH! You’re so well articulated, and the complex concepts you tackle are really explained in the most accessible way for us listeners. So again, thank you for that. I’ve been pondering this question myself. As a pro israel right wing person I wonder what my blind spots are if any. Also, about Allison and Keith if I remember correctly, which I believe I do, what he replied to her when she came to him at volley was exactly what you said plus “I need you to be a friend right now”. This line stuck with me. he disoriented her so profoundly with that sentence. I remember hearing that she was profoundly confused after that. I think his approval and his “friendship” meant EVERYTHING to her. Anyways, love you. And thank you for the astounding work. Julia
If you are under the control of another person, who has absolutley has you in their thrall. Where they convince you night is day, and up is down. And moral sin is right and compassion is wrong. I think the fact that she had that one moment of questioning, ‘am I bad?, shows, there was and is something left of her to save. It might be decades before she can find her true north again.
No political party has all the answers or is without sin BUT it is pretty clear to most people when they think of both political 'teams', who is the less rational party.
The show you referred to is called "that mitchell and webb look". It's by the 2 brittish comedians Robert Webb and David Mitchell. They have some really funny skits.😊
It’s not simply that they’re invested in making the other party appear wrong, they themselves are invested in the control these terrible things represent. The money it produces, the deviant behavior that permeates the terrible actions. This is so much more than just left and right. This is good and evil.
As more stuff comes out in regards to "P. Diddy" (Sean Combs) and the network of blackmail, coercion, racketeering etc… I would love to see / hear your analysis on how his organization could be viewed through the lens of a cult (or not). I am not speaking to the salacious aspects (while they did play a part obviously), I am thinking more of the promises of fame, career success, etc… and maybe drawing out / looking at how, just because there were real world applications to what he could offer (ex: a successful music career, money, fame) doesn’t negate the high demand/ high control nature of the group of people he was associated with.
Well there is an economical reason too, processed food is cheaper so companies can make max profit, people's health be damned. It was always like this. Ultraprocessed foods will always be bad, sure if you consume it one two times a week its fine, but everyday then u will have a problem..but sadly its cheap and fast to make....
One political party feels like they own stopping SA. They don’t. Every person with heart wants to stop SA. It is frustrating. But I ignore it and stick with what I know is right. Good question. Where do they find these people? Any “expert” that says processed food is not that bad is corrupt and most likely, greedy.
Ah that would be the toliet paper rag known as the the new york times that published that article about how ultra proceeded foods are really not that bad. One day it is truth the next day its a lie. I don't think one politcal party "owns" SA but I do agree with Mark's perspective that more people from one political party are more aware of the extent of SA in society and that it reaches the higest echelons of the government and hollywood, and I am speaking about child SA specifically, even though adults also experience this. I don't care what poltics a person has as long as they know this to be True.
Just completed watching The Vow. Before watching it, I could not understand how someone fall for this. After watching it I can easily see myself being in NXIVM. Some of the things in Nancy's clips were actually useful. Part of me felt that Keith would have still been harming people if he didn't record everything.
She is not a victim. She hurt others at her own direction. She didn't just hurt herself, she actively recruited and dragged other people into her hell to torture them herself.
Meh- I don't think being a victim and an abuser is mutually exclusive. Was she an abuser? 100% without a doubt. But she was also a victim of Rainere. Does this mean she gets to walk away without punishment? NOPE. She'll still have to pay for her crimes. Actions have consquences. I work in a hospital as an STNA and used to work with disabled adults and kids. I've had so many patients and clients who abused people but were also horrifically abused themselves. I wish life was more cut and dry but it just isn't. Monsters often turn their victims into monsters themselves. Very few abusers are straight up Sociopaths like Rainere. And even good people are capable of horrible things on their worst days.
@@lorianabanana6066 I agree with you. I think if we agree that Allison Mack is not psychopathic (meaning she has the capacity to feel remorse) then we can agree that what she did was monstrous but she was not a monster - she was a victim to the abuse and coersion that KR perpetrated against her. I agree with you that it's not one OR the other, but that we can be led to do horrific things to other people through manipulation etc... and yes, she should be held accountable and yes she should work towards reparation and repair and that work is long and hard. AND we can still feel compassion for her in all the ways that she was victimized.
Thanks I’ll check her out. And thank you for The Vow, incredible. That material could be core for discussion groups for younger people to help them avoid or see more clearly (subtle) every day forms of abuse they will encounter.
Oh my goodness yes! Fellow ex cult survivor here, Im intimately familiar with the head f*ck situations and I'm also looking at the current political landscape and seeing the cult like double down instead of using critical thinking. The pile on if you step out of line. The shunning of tribes members if they say the wrong thing. The absolute hot seat you are always in if you submit yourself to these rules. You are guaranteed to get cancelled at some point. So you have those who submit fully with their silence, or those dissenters who get shunned
I quoted you on a pod cast I watch. “No one joins a cult” It was a the 7M Dancing for the devil. I wish more people would understand that no one joins a cult.
As a shaman (yes I am) I have seen the game metaphysically. It is a worldwide game being played I call "harem holding". The Men (if they can earn it easily go full tilt like Tiger Woods had 8 in his harem before he had to admit I am a junkie harem holding Man). Some can't earn a harem. The abuse we suffer at the hands of a not able to earn a "harem" male. Pitiful. So they treat it like this...If they "get your devotion" BINGO now the energetic cords and wounding is possible to siphon, extract, embezzle, take, pilfer, wheeze the juice, vampire, parasite, (you get it) and then they go off to find another Female they can "bleed" for her superior LOOSH. Yes they are BANKRUPT (for the most part) and a good, kind, honest, respectful, loyal FEMALE is the MOST VALUABLE SITUATION ANY MALE CAN EARN. But they are WASTERELS and fortune hunters and have no REAL RESPECT OR APPRECIATION, really it is all just energetic COMMERCE !!! That is when the "gaslighting" begins as they try to wound and hide the FACT that they have zero loyalty. ZERO !!! Ninety five percent are along these lines and some are even switch hitters, so ya !!! Some dilemmas are METAPHYSICAL.
True or not, don’t ever call yourself a shaman in front of my Native American girlfriend. Oh boy. She would have some words for you. I’ve seen it and it was not pleasant for the claimant.
@@vivalapsych I have met Slavic shaman, Mexican shaman, Chinese shaman, Celtic shaman, African shaman, Pacific Islander shaman, and several Nordic shaman. Can you point to one serious person saying child sex trafficking isn't happening, or isn't significant? Or are you just kind of making that up? Because I've never heard anyone say either of those things
It’s making me think of how many religious people will vote for politicians who run on a religious platform of "values" but then get exposed for committing acts against children and the same people will vote for them anyways valuing the religious platform over their values of protecting children. This happens with famous people as well- for example people will say "I don’t support predatory behaviour against children” and then buy tickets to see see the Red Hot Chilli Peppers knowing full well the 50 year old lead singer is dating an 18 year old child and defend it… meanwhile if someone who was a part of the a political party that wasn’t their affiliation did the same thing, they would shout loudly from the roof tops about how terrible it was.
It’s a type of cognitive dissonance that allows people to overlook the severity of the action when they are associated with that specific group, but yet have strong and condemning feelings for the other group participating in the exact same activity.
This is what I was thinking... As far as I know, Dems are still going out of their way to support organizations like NCMEC. What worries me when someone hollers about adrenochrome, etc. is that they're hurting actual anti-trafficking organizations like Save the Children. On the flip side, the disturbing number of people close to Trump who have been caught with CSAM really points out the need to not assume that those who cry out against something are necessarily against it.
@@AbsurdOblivion That's absolutely true and the phenomena he's talking about is definitely a thing, but his example to support it isn't a good one. People weren't minimising the threat of child sex trafficking, they were reacting against the batshit Q-anon conspiracies about Democrats running a deep state pedophilia ring that the far right pushes, because the lead actor of the film gave unhinged speeches at Q-anon rallies not long before the release of the film, and the guy who made the film is himself an unhinged idiot going around larping as some hero doing what the FBI won't do and busting child sex rings, when he didn't do squat. So people automatically kind of had their bullshit detectors up when the movie came out, because of its links with right wing conspiracies. No one minimised the problem of child sex trafficking, it's a problem that the FBI takes seriously and does serious work to combat...
@@AbsurdOblivion , the extent of this phenomenon is one of the most depressing revelations of the last decade. I mean, I knew it existed, but wow! I am old enough to remember Watergate and Republicans actually losing respect for a politician who had committed crimes. I guess this is a different country. Now, I have been forced to lose respect for my former friends, who excuse anything on "our" side because God and babies. Self-righteous moral turpitude is particularly blind and ugly.
No one ever said pedophelia and trafficking aren’t happening. Q’anon focusing on it in the craziest way (mislead and manipulated) and doing in the name of respected organizations (Save the Children) is the issue. Dang Mark, you are like a moth to the flame with these types of folks. . Have you been in touch with J. Z. Knight and Ramtha lately? Also, next topic: fascist rhetoric and teams that normalize that.
I would like to point out here (gently) the this is the "othering” behaviour he was speaking about. "Look at all those people over there who don’t know how to critically think!" Instead of "It seems like people are struggling to be critical thinkers.. in what areas of my life am I also lacking in this skill."
'Woke up' in April 2017. Went to the FBI in May 2017. Lots of shit went down. Leader sentenced in June 2019. Some of the story chronicled in HBO Series "The Vow"
As far as "how TF does that happen" with the political parties, it is called TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME. And I am not being a pro Trump person. I am being serious. It is a thing. It makes people CRAZY
What makes people crazy is being lied to over and over and over again even in the face of substantial proof and evidence that what you are being told is a lie. People go crazy in relationships for this same reason... just like Alison Mack did when she was being gaslit. "There is something wrong with YOU for questioning or not believing in me alone!" And that is what is happening on a national scale right now. Trump LOST the election. HE LOST. It wasn't stolen, HE LOST. And that is just the tip of the iceberg... Claiming a person has "TDS" because they don't have faith in ANYONE or ANYTHING but him and his word.... ? Just, wow....
It’s so true. This is such a real phenomenon. I have friends who have actually gone to jail over things they’ve done due to TDS. I NEVER would have believed they would do things like this - prior to 2016. They still don’t see their part in it, they just keep getting worse.
@@KiKi-tf8rv And thousands of people have lost their jobs, their careers, have gotten disbarred, have gone to prison, killed their own children, and gone on mass shooting sprees, in SUPPORT of the same guy. The belief that a massive conspiracy has been going on for centuries, involving almost everyone in the world and the only person they can trust is a reality tv star?? THAT is TDS.
Steve Hassen may be calling out somethings that are going to be seen as taking sides, however he is not doing the divisive thing. Look up his response to Glenn Beck.

I always felt like so much attention on Hollywood and the culture that kind of power and money creates was just a way to deflect from the church who have an even more gruesome and abusive history of indoctrination. Hollywood has more influence over pop culture than the church does and they have ALWAYS hated that.
YOu mentioned in your vid, that Allison Mack was with Ranier the longest. NO, it was her former co star that remained with the organization even after Mack was arrested. KRISTIN KRUEK. She also acted on Smallville. Yet, Kristin Kreuk never did any time or wasn't confronted with what she knew or why she knew. THE REASON IS THAT mz. Kruek was secretly recruited [blackmailed? ] to an FBI undercover informant. She gave more info that even "mack" did when she was "turned".
I definitely think another documentary for this kind of thing is going to just drive the whole world even deeper into the darkness. But if someone could take all this stuff and put it into a comedy movie it might just be palatable enough for people to digest. Laughing at Allison Mack trying to explain this comes off as disturbing and not helpful to anyone, but empathizing with her and trying to laugh with her at a bad situation seems like an actual decent human move. Your move.

I was a sexual assault nurse for years. One of the things I found out was people were being coerced into abortion. Products of conception were trashed so incest, minor sex and trafficking crimes went unsolved and the victims remained victims and even though they were coerced into the abortions they were shamed for it by the very people that coerced them into abortion. That's why I am against abortion. Most people have reasonable ways of obtaining birth control or adoption but.not the victims of these kinds of abuses. If I say I am against abortion.... people won't listen to my reasons. I too was coerced to abort, but I didn't do it. So I know what that feels like.
@@nikkinorton8310 it is the reality. Just like people who claim to be "pro life" who then murder people (even babies and children) are not accurately representing the pro life position. Forcing anything on anyone is inherently contradicting the concept of choice. People should be able to choose what happens to their body. I've seen pregnant women who essentially commit suicide to maintain a non viable pregnancy, and that's their choice. I do think it's reasonable to try and talk her out of it, but it's her choice in the end. Related, talking to people about their options and the consequences of all options is not coercive

Just because you voted for someone doesn't mean you can't also protest certain actions or policies of theirs.
Bravo!👏👏👏
Absolutely
@andynystrom1519 well then Thank God youre not American...if you buy into the propaganda that dictates that Kamala was the safer choice.
This is one of the most insightful things I have ever watched. It should be required watching for every human being!
Really? Are ya super sure? I mean about assigning this particular video, as a requirement to all of human kind? Seems like a bit of a reach.
Here is an insight, white Americans are I the most selfish and delusional humans ever. Y’all shouldn’t be allowed to think or talk after being in a cult
Or if you don't watch it you have to pay a tax to the state run brothel.
Thank you for the work you’re doing! Great message, as always.
Thanks for listening
Ah, emotional IQ. America is sorely lacking in that. Well done, Mark. Thanks.
People are willing to defend things they never would have in the past just to keep the “enemy” from winning.
Thank you! I'll check it out.

Yes, we need to be willing to listen to other points of view. great point
yes I end up categorizing my verbal interaction with others as conversation or still in the realm of moving to potential conversation(this requires an open mind and suspending the ego momentarily I imagine holding it above my head where it’s out of the way until I need it back) or there is verbal competition and the indicators of this are usually easy to spot immediately although sometimes there’s a processing delay while our ego resists or even momentarily falls into it.
Bonnie was smart enough not to forget that part.
yeah, although to dig this deep, I don't know if that's smth will ever want to do to herself.
Bonnie was paying attention to what was happening around her & didn't make excuses to herself to make it all ok.
She was branding women with an iron shaped like her and her boyfriend's initials. Maybe the priority is her mental health? Just a thought.
@@Jones-d8q I hope her mental health was a priority. She's had several years to work on it... Hope she took advantage.
@@angelcitystudio yikes, I looked it up and she literally just got of prison (super early for testifying) so again I am gonna just say maybe currently mental health should be the priority. It sounds like you're already trying to pave the way for the Alison Mack celebration and I'm going to go out on a limb and say they (the public) probably need to digest the crime before they're ready for a Smallville reboot.

Never underestimate the power of how money and beauty affects the judicial system. Allison Mack served a softer sentence than she should have.
@@AbsurdOblivion Good, but not the point I made. The point is she got a lighter sentence than a non-attractive and poor woman would have gotten.
@@philosopher2king ah, I see what you're saying now. Yes to that comparison, I agree that you are probably correct.
Anyway, you're all heroes and hope you have a fantastic Christmas and New Year 😊!❤❤❤❤
Thank You!
Julia
"Otherizing people is the beginning of horror" - what a PROFOUNDLY true statement!!!!!! When will we stop?????????????????
Never question the narcissist.
Neither is less rational than the other. Or, they're both as irrational as each other.
How do u figure that when out elections are essentially coin flips?
The show you referred to is called "that mitchell and webb look". It's by the 2 brittish comedians Robert Webb and David Mitchell. They have some really funny skits.😊
It’s not simply that they’re invested in making the other party appear wrong, they themselves are invested in the control these terrible things represent. The money it produces, the deviant behavior that permeates the terrible actions. This is so much more than just left and right. This is good and evil.
Fascinating observation and discussion.
Interesting!
Well there is an economical reason too, processed food is cheaper so companies can make max profit, people's health be damned. It was always like this. Ultraprocessed foods will always be bad, sure if you consume it one two times a week its fine, but everyday then u will have a problem..but sadly its cheap and fast to make....
Well said! Hope you're well mate.
One political party feels like they own stopping SA. They don’t. Every person with heart wants to stop SA. It is frustrating. But I ignore it and stick with what I know is right.
Good question. Where do they find these people? Any “expert” that says processed food is not that bad is corrupt and most likely, greedy.
The headlines are designed to be provocative and make people want to read the articles, it's an interesting article.
Love your podcast. Please keep going!
Thank you! Will do!
This is excellent.
Great info! Thanks!
Similar to DARVO if you haven’t already checked concept out.
Yes - very familiar with Jennifer's work. It's awesome!

Glad you think so!
First time seeing you, why is this topic on your mind?
I witnessed this in the medical field as well. It’s absolutely heartbreaking.
Pro choice means you have a choice. You shouldn't be coerced either way.
@@SusantheNerdy unfortunately that's not the reality.
@@nikkinorton8310 it is the reality. Just like people who claim to be "pro life" who then murder people (even babies and children) are not accurately representing the pro life position. I've seen pregnant women who essentially commit suicide to maintain a non viable pregnancy, and that's their choice.
