I thought the same when listening to Floor’s take on the song and I think the heavier guitar/music fits that feel in Floor’s version. always great to see how a pro appreciates our vocal queen. I know, that it must be very difficult to mix a voice with floors dynamic range, but I wish the mix would have been better ....
If that's true, I don't see cuts, I don't take different takes ... it seems to be all in one take ... and it is clear that the work they put into the mix is not to seek perfection, she is simply sharing a cover with the community .. Maybe it would be too much to ask that it sound like a studio.
@@ArtMateurMusic It's one take probably, but not live. For me it sounds pretty good, specially in the climax of the song, maybe at the beginning she could have been a little higher but it's not as bad as the Ave Maria cover (i think that was the one that she sounded VERY low)
Hi Bud. I believe our Goddess sang this to her Husband Hannes on his Birthday. That's why you can see the love in her eyes. Beautiful and why we love this amazing woman.
As with Lara Fabian, Floor is also not just a singer, she's an experience. The Lara Fabian concert " From Lara with Love" is, in my opinion, the definitive performance of this song. That said, I think Floor does a more solid cover than even Dimash. Both singers of course, look up to Lara as the legend she is. For me, Lara is the greatest vocal performer ever, but I have become a huge fan of Floor. She has an amazing personality, which I think, is also a huge part of Lara's charisma. Floor can create magic. That puts her up there with the greatest.
After we talked about her use of a novel distortion in this song in your last reaction and being the nerd that I am, I went back and looked through her previous songs. I found that she used the same growl in her ReVamp days, so it's an old tool that she dredged the toolbox to use. It sounds very nasal to me vs. the conventional back-of-the-throat distortion that we usually hear. Her nostrils flair when she cranks it up. I also like the twist she gives this vs. the original. And I agree, she's smiling when the lyrics require sad, because she's just having fun with the song. Great job, BTW.
Floor sings every song giving us all of herself, my soul therapist, look at the intensity of her face ... this is art, this is pure poetry! Long live Floor and thank you
I felt a little low the last week after Marko Hietala announced his leave from Nightwish that I didn´t watch Floor´s video. This video and your comments perked me up. Thanks.
I can only hear this one as a song from her to Marko, witch leave me in a puddle on the floor.... She hit's you in the feelz every time. She can sing the IKEA catalog and I will listen.
That must be a hell of a microphone..... I mean....power. The sheer power. Could you imagine getting into an argument with her? She'd melt your eyeballs....
I agree with you sir. As good as the other covers all were, this one has something extra special. This was absolutely beautiful. Powerful with so much emotion and command. thank you for the reaction and analysis.
Not the agony of longing for someones love, but the extacy of keep on dreaming of someones love. Being in love is the goal, before getting disappointed by reality. The joy of "adagio", as I believe Floor is telling us by her interpretation.
WOW, I love Floor. She is my goddess of Music. So gifted in transferring emotion. So is Lara Fabian, she is a queen with her breathy voice. Lara is fabulous and I was really pleased to hear Floor’s version. She made the song her song. I can feel the song. She is living the song. It may sound crazy, but i came to listen to Floor, because i love Floor and Lara. I love your comment and i need you to check out Emma Kok. Many reactions said that she was a young Lara Fabian. So i listened to her performance of 'Voila' with the Orchestra of Andre Rieu (over 60 million hits on TH-cam alone). If I find Floor the Goddess, Lara the Queen, then Emma is at least the Princess. This now 16 year old girl, sang 'Voila' with Full orchestra a year ago at the age of 15. I listened and I was not disappointed. Please check out Emma Kok also, you won’t be sorry. About a month ago Emma had a new song out 'Dancing on the stars', approaching 6M views. I wanna know, what you think of the technique of Emma Kok also.
Having watched it already we were giggling when you said she was going to use her chest voice knowing she was going to do it later. She always surprises us. We expect her to go one way so she goes another. Amazing! Thanks for the laughs 😁
I've just realized that when Floor puts her hands up and looks like she's about to pull them back or push them forward, you're in a for something big ;) Love her :)

The choice of sounds of the instruments in this recording makes everyone who followed Floor before she joined Nightwish have a nostalgia trip. This could have been released as a cover never released during After Forever and everyone would believe that lie.
Absolutely loved your reaction and analysis on this one. You are the BEST! It is good that you kept this reaction PG. I agree, Floor was singing with that lustful anticipation. There is such a seductive quality to the way she sings as well as the way she moves while performing on stage. Those slow sensual movements sometimes almost like an Arabian veil dancer, or if the band is playing in 3/4 it is like a slow Waltz. It appears that her voice and whole body are an instrument that accompanies the music as a performance on its own. Then she breaks out the windmill for a little aggression. I have never seen its like before. It may be due to her Musical Theater training? Do they teach you to be a musical actress? Loved your video my friend. 😊💖👑🎶🎶🎶🙏🙏🙏
to me it feels like the original vocalist is singing as a woman that is longing for a man she used to have, while Floor is singing as a woman in love that can't wait to get back together with her man that still is hers.
Actually, this interpretation hewed very closely to the main choices made by Fabian in the official recorded version. However, as one obsessed with the melody of Albinoni's Adagio and subsequently Fabian's live version's, I find myself missing the many masterful little craft elements I've grown to expect. I'd be curious to see your analysis of the live Adagio from the From Lara With Love concert.
My experience is that it is always difficult to listen to a version of a song that is quite different from the version that you have grown to love and have become very acquinted with (so that you hear and expect many small details). When I am then presented with a version that is very different (and this version IS very different) you tend to miss those little details, while the unfamiliarness of the other version leads you to not hearing the OTHER little details in the other version. (their is a word for this fenomenon: it is called "cognitive dissonance") I suffer from the same fenomenon when I other people do songs that I learned love or enjoy in Floors redition... However, I promisse you: If you would have the patience to listen to Floor's version (which I doubt you will, because you are clearly emotionally invested in Lara Fabians version) you would start hearing just as many "small details" in Floor's version. So in the end when comparing fenomenal singers like Lara Fabian or Floor Jansen, it is all down to what our ears have learned to love... (and expect)
@@rientsdijkstra4266 Dude... Okay, I won't leave it there as I intended. I loved Albinoni's Adagio long before I had a clue who Fabian was. Then I discovered Fabian's masterful pop treatment of it. Her interpretation -out of the many dozens I've listened to- remains the only one to retain a strong echo of the original. And no, FJ's interpretation here is _not_ "very" different to the canned official recording of Fabian's Adagio. And there's a reason the consensus is that Fabian's live performances of it are superior to the official. Finally, the way FJ "orchestrated" and mixed the music here was criminal. You can keep your patronizing condescension for someone else. I'm not playing. Ciao.
@@DoggieFostersTo start with: is was not my intention to condescending, if it came across in that way: sorry (I have edited the text to make it more about my own experience). My Statement is that Floor Jansens version IS very different, simply because she is a soprano, with a much higher and brighter voice then the (very beautifull!) much deeper mezzo or even alto voice of LF, and this leads to a very different sounding rendition, with different tonal aspects, coloring and details. So what I am saying is that for those have grown to love LF's version at first hearing this can be unexpected and different, and therefore lead to a sensation of "this is not what I expected". As said I have had the same sensation many times with singers covering song by Floor that I have grown very attachted to. Actually I hear more "masterfull little craft elements" as you call them in Floor's rendition then in the live version by LF that I just listened to, but that propably is because I know Floors voice much better.
@@rientsdijkstra4266 I appreciate your acknowledgement of the tone of your original comment. I haven't read your revised comment, but will trust it's better. 1) Fabian's fach is Full Lyric. 2) It feels to me like it is you who are projecting your inability to analyze & appreciate unfamiliar versions of songs onto others. 3) You interpreted "masterful pop treatment" of a neo-baroque piece (aka writing/shaping/lyrics) to be a challenge to rush to defend the vocal mastery of your fav. Oh, come on! 3) My original comment referenced how surprised I was that FJ's approach to this song and the choices she made mirrored Fabian's recorded version so closely. I stand by that assessment. I don't think even an in-depth phrase-by-phrase comparison would convince you, so we'll leave it here, shall we? 🖖🏽
@@DoggieFosters Ok, so let me be clear, first you complain like a little child about my "tone" (which was not intended) and now you accuse me of being "unable to analyze & appreciate". Wow, wow, wow You are really a piece of work!
Please react to Dimash version! insane vocals as well. I loved Floor's version, we can all agree that she is one of the best vocalist of all times and to me she is the female version of Dimash, with classical training and insane chest and mixed voice. I personally prefer Lara's version, her voice is like butter and her high notes on this particular song are effortless. Loved your reaction! :)
I am a fan of floor. But here she used her head voice in places where lara belted from chest what is way more difficult. Floor knows that lara performed it live also from chest what is a risk for missing the right note. I see it as a hommage and compliment for lara that she cuver her song that was a classic piece of the composer albinoni. She converted it in a pop love song with lyricus because it was an instrumental piece. I am glad that floor is recognised. She is great. She did not take the risk to use her full chest voice in the high belts. They both are favorites for me. And some new discoveries on TH-cam.

Definitely best analysis to date; and I believe I have checked them all. I enjoy learning something about her singing technique in addition to just watching the video. You are the only one I have found to date to have noticed and discussed her use of distortion in the 2nd & 3rd last phrases, despite my even prodding one other reviewer to do so. Also, a question: in one other review and in a plethora of comments to it, the commenters went into paroxysms over their perception that the voice track and the video track did not match up. Personally I just can't see it -- it seems to match to me and I have watched the video dozens of times now. (And you do not mention it). Am I just that stupid, or is there something there that we should be thinking about?
Good question. Not going to lie, I think that they match up well enough to where it doesn't matter (I didn't even notice), but I'm really only looking at the big vocal moments to analyze anatomy. Even if the video is not the original vocal, it's clear that she's still singing in the video. That point seems too pedantic to go overly into detail on though. Good time filler in a video I guess hahaha
8:47 "Living in the grit"... man you are so right. And she goes on combining that singular emotion with power to create a spell-binding experience. The original was to die for; the cover is to live for. I know it's a cliche. :)

And people wonder why Arjen from Ayreon drops the Floor bomb at the end of songs all the time....
Arjen knows 😉... He featured her for the first time when she was just 16years old! I think that alone says it all... She's a living miracle ❤
He does, doesn't he :) Gotta love Arjens music!
Fantastic reaction you love Floor as much as the rest of us.No other singer gives me whole body chills and yes she does it to me nearly every time . I tear up most times with her emotions. She smiles and the world is a better place .
I cry with joy with sadness and all the in betweens from Floor INCREDIBLE SINGER AND PERSON our Goddess and Queen .
Awesome reaction dude, thank you. 😃👏🏻 another amazing cover by Floor. One of the best things about the Lockdown has been her series of covers 👏🏻💪🏻
Absolute facts, Scott.
@@CharlieCalottaReacts did you see her solo Ave Maria cover she released at Christmas? It’s quite something 🤯
Floor is completely - complete
Incredible
Yes, she makes me cry - she is that powerful - and great job from you again 👍
Thank you, Kim! And I agree!
Thanks Charlie for putting your reaction to this amazing cover on TH-cam! 💕🤘
No problem 😊

My Floorgasm muscles are sore from this one! Absolutely awesome reaction! Thank You!
It is so instructive to experience Floor's way of expressing and learn from your explanation of how she achieves that effect.
Epic performance and reaction.
Thanks, Antonio!
It's a "Floorgasm" of a performance.
always great to see how a pro appreciates our vocal queen. I know, that it must be very difficult to mix a voice with floors dynamic range, but I wish the mix would have been better ....
Agreed
Thanks Charlie, your reaction is great as ever.
Glad you enjoyed it
@@CharlieCalottaReacts Are you gonna put your Lara Fabian reaction on You Tube?
After we talked about her use of a novel distortion in this song in your last reaction and being the nerd that I am, I went back and looked through her previous songs. I found that she used the same growl in her ReVamp days, so it's an old tool that she dredged the toolbox to use. It sounds very nasal to me vs. the conventional back-of-the-throat distortion that we usually hear. Her nostrils flair when she cranks it up. I also like the twist she gives this vs. the original. And I agree, she's smiling when the lyrics require sad, because she's just having fun with the song.
Great job, BTW.
Floor sings every song
giving us all of herself, my soul therapist,
look at the intensity of her face ...
this is art, this is pure poetry!
Long live Floor and thank you
Yes! She's a vocal Beast. 🙏👍
I felt a little low the last week after Marko Hietala announced his leave from Nightwish that I didn´t watch Floor´s video. This video and your comments perked me up. Thanks.
Best compliment a youtube video could get. Hope you're well Michel
I can only hear this one as a song from her to Marko, witch leave me in a puddle on the floor.... She hit's you in the feelz every time. She can sing the IKEA catalog and I will listen.
Nanowar of Steel sings the IKEA catalog. Really. ;).
That must be a hell of a microphone..... I mean....power. The sheer power. Could you imagine getting into an argument with her? She'd melt your eyeballs....
It is - $6,000 worth of microphone actually.
I agree with you sir. As good as the other covers all were, this one has something extra special. This was absolutely beautiful. Powerful with so much emotion and command. thank you for the reaction and analysis.
I'm made of stone, but this lady gets me everytime!
She is so skilled! I love her! Nice reaction and analyzing 😬✌️
So....Amazing voice... ❤❤❤
My God what a voice
I would also like to give props to the music by Tommy Johansson, fits Floor's take on the song perfectly.
Great job of breaking her voice down. Floor can sing anything and her fans love her for it. I enjoyed your reaction, thank you.
just in a lane of her own!
Jesus christ!!!! She is one of a kind! I lives 400- 500 km from Floor, but i think i heard then she recorded this al the way to Stockholm 🤣My god!!!
Meer words can't do that justice it's the feeling in your soul .
Great reaction and #floorjansen is so smooth in this cover and has perfect teeth.
Floor, More like the mastermind who fully blends in the crowd, watching as it all unfolds and enjoys every second of it
I enjoyed Floor, and i enjoyed your comments. That was a lot of joy. Thank you.
I'm so glad!
Good video keep up the good work
Not the agony of longing for someones love, but the extacy of keep on dreaming of someones love. Being in love is the goal, before getting disappointed by reality. The joy of "adagio", as I believe Floor is telling us by her interpretation.
Beautiful! I agree :)
This Woman can sing omg .
love this, floor really gets down deep in her voice....
Having watched it already we were giggling when you said she was going to use her chest voice knowing she was going to do it later.
She always surprises us. We expect her to go one way so she goes another.
Amazing! Thanks for the laughs 😁
Ooh, Floor's Adagio is as good as Dimash's, in a different way. Coooooool!
I imagine a scene where all the birds are flying out of the woods that are surrounding her studio on those last notes 😃
Floor is on a roll 💕💕💕 Floor always ends on a high note 😍😍😍
Blown away.... Wow... As always with Floor
I've just realized that when Floor puts her hands up and looks like she's about to pull them back or push them forward, you're in a for something big ;) Love her :)
You should have seen my face at the climax. Floor is such a treasure. We are on the same page.
She emits a peice of her soul with each note. I'm fortunate to collect them. MINE! MINE! ALL MINE!
Nice reaction as usual.

Here is the Original from Lara Fabian: th-cam.com/video/jKtNuLG5jAo/w-d-xo.html
The piece was written as “Albinoni’s Adagio” by Italian composer Giazotto in 1958. He claimed to have based it on a sketch by Baroque composer Albinoni, but this source could never be confirmed.

There are many pop renditions preceding Lara Fabian.

Thank you, Thor
@@CharlieCalottaReacts Interesting. Thanks for the feedback. 🙏
she can start doing the James Bond film scores now with this one is the vibe I get
Beauty, Power, Empathy equals. ..Goddess
to me it feels like the original vocalist is singing as a woman that is longing for a man she used to have, while Floor is singing as a woman in love that can't wait to get back together with her man that still is hers.
Two beautiful ways to interpret the text. She also released this right after her husband's birthday!
Words are too poor to describe her.... She's the One... The gift to mankind.
(their is a word for this fenomenon: it is called "cognitive dissonance")
I suffer from the same fenomenon when I other people do songs that I learned love or enjoy in Floors redition...

As argentinian I think if Messi was as good playing as Floor is singing we would have won the World Cup already lol
soccer hero of singers hahaha
I am a fan of floor.
But here she used her head voice in places where lara belted from chest what is way more difficult. Floor knows that lara performed it live also from chest what is a risk for missing the right note.
I see it as a hommage and compliment for lara that she cuver her song that was a classic piece of the composer albinoni.
She converted it in a pop love song with lyricus because it was an instrumental piece.
I am glad that floor is recognised. She is great.
She did not take the risk to use her full chest voice in the high belts. They both are favorites for me. And some new discoveries on TH-cam.
She is Mix of Edith Piaf/Maria Callas/Mata Hari !!!
Oh, you think that was Floor growling?... Check out Yours is an Empty Hope by Nightwish. Some serious Floor growls in that one. She is just unreal as a singer.
Disregard, just saw that you did watch that one too. Going off to watch that video now :)
😘
You could for instance also watch The song Wildcard from this concert - th-cam.com/video/DUFVSVARWJk/w-d-xo.html - Floor did a lot more growling in ReVamp, especially noticeable in the live shows for their second album, Wildcard.

Not to mention, my ears are probably doing 70% of the work, so my eyes are off duty as far as I'm concerned
20:00 - 20:25 Floor’s final note, your face & comment sums it up completely! 👏 😹
Charlie......so happy......
Me too Paul. Me too.
Floor's eyes put me in a trance.
8:47 "Living in the grit"... man you are so right. And she goes on combining that singular emotion with power to create a spell-binding experience. The original was to die for; the cover is to live for. I know it's a cliche. :)

Beautiful !!!! Gotta be the golden mic. LOL
Adagio is a masterpiece of the Italian composer Albinoni (1671-1751). You could say that both Laura and Floor cover this composition in their own way . I like both versions, but as a Floorfan, so I'm not objective....Floor touched me each time.
I didn't know this! Lovely composition! Very much ahead of its time, if I do say so.
