I just got one for $50 Aus, changed the little preamp valve to a sovtek 12ax7wa and a Celestion V30 I had spare and wow, sounds fat and warm, big difference, none of that high shrill it used to get.

I had this amp at 17 waaay back. Sounded great quiet under 4 but over 4 sounded like super crap. Always figured a speaker swap would have improved it alot.

Perhaps you could use a noise gate or if that doesn't help get the amp serviced. These are older amps, perhaps it needs maintenance
