Love when you say this is gonna be a short one and it goes 40+ minutes! So nice to see a Copart walk around again. I think the F-150 and the Duramax are good risks. Especially for the money. Happy New Year to you and Jessica! Glad to see you back!

Randy-I have a Saab 97x which is the exact same thing as a trailblazer. I have the same rust, “chunky stuff” on my trans dipstick. Thing shifts like a champ, I’d take a gamble depending on what it goes for.

On the trailblazer when the truck starts to idle rough when you turn the AC on the throttle body needs to be cleaned and it fixes the issue. I have a TB I bought a year ago with 231kmiles I bought from copart with the same amount of miles has 254k miles now. The transmission maybe bad. Mine went out at 240k you can't tell if they transmission is bad unless you try to drive over 45mph to get to higher gears

Randy, the wire you found on the trailblazer by the fuse block is extra, every one I've seen has one. I believe it has to do with adding something on the trailer hookup. Mine has never been connected. The trans dipstick is made of something that corrodes like mad with the trans fluid. My 04 has 299000 miles on it and I have to emery cloth it every year or so to knock the rust off it.

The hissing on the Mariner is the brake booster. It is common on those, tributes and escapes of that era. They used cheap plastic seals that wore out quickly. You have to replace them or the whole booster. The part is cheap and the remains have rubber seals and last longer.

Randy @ 15:30 the 3.0 Vulcan engine was always durable and trouble-free. The 3.8 was the one that ate head gaskets like Skittles. The Vulcan is an iron block and heads pushrod motor that's archaic and simple, albeit underpowered. However it was sufficient to pull the Taurus and Sable around. Also, the Tempo, Probe, Ranger...... A miss here is probably a spark plug or fuel injector. I have 153K on my '06 Taurus and that's been the only mechanical issue.

The Sable probably has bad exhaust valve seats, I'm willing to bet at least one or more cylinders has low compression. You notice it the most at idle but driving down the road it should drive fine, those Vulcans of that year range had that issue, I think there was even a TSB for them. My 03 Ranger has that motor and had that same problem when I first got it, ended up replacing both the heads with remans, has run great since.

The sabal has a hard line on the intake that tend to leak probably why you smell coolant and my guess is it got on to a coil pack and gave a miss fire. The grand marquis I would bet the ignition switch broke to the start position so someone hardwired to the starter solenoid

The Grqnd Marquis needs an ignition switch. That could be why the odometer doesn't work. I have an 08 that gets 27 mpg on the road. It is a very dependable car. If you get it cheap enough it probably wouldn't cost a lot to change the ignition switch and odometer and dash will work again. You probably could sell it $1000.

I also had a 1987 2 Door LS model paid 50.00 for it drove it 3 years as well. These are simple cars and parts are cheap for the Panther platform. 1996-2011 parts are interchangeable. 1979-1991 panthers are the same way.

    Starter Button.
A number of years ago, there was a bunch of scammers who rigged cars up to sell a "Clean Spark" device that was suppose to improve gas mileage.
They would demonstrate the device at swap meets and such.
The hidden starter button was the key to show the device worked.
Eventually the gang was caught and sent to prison.
It was mostly in California. I'm surprised it made it to Oklahoma.

Even the optional Duratec V6's in these aren't known for head gaskets. Only the 3.8's in the old 80's and early 90's versions had head gasket issues. That Sable 99% just needs a coil.

Yay walkarounds are back and Randy sounds healthy. Btw hi Jessica
Car selection is not as good this time but a few gems
Dirtymax--could be a winner especially for a work truck
Grand Marquis--always thumbs up for a Panther. I bet a few fuses and a good wire trace plus ignition switch and instant profit
F150- no please no. That engine is garbage you dont want this for a work truck
VW CC- neutral on this one but may need more work than normal
Mariner--this one is a simple fix. Booster hose is leaking hence the suck sound while engine running. Miles are high but still could flip for good money. And its AWD so could land a snow belt buyer and get even more. Besides WB had a good experience and his was the same color. Coincidence??
Sonata SE--had one of these turds and I would suggest you run the vin on it to see if it's part of the engine recall. If so, I'd get it, swap the oil pan, and bring it to a Hyundai dealer soon. The low oil is the first sign of engine failure these have manufacturing defects with the crankshaft and basically starve themselves of oil until failure. Sounded like it's starting to knock and low oil is because they have terrible consumption. Personally I'd avoid bc they sell so cheap anyway but you could make a few bucks if you could land a new motor on the manufacturer's dime

Those 2009 Mariners are good cars... Have a electronic power steering issue which was a PITA to deal with, and a throttle body recall ford will fix for FREE, after those two things are fixed they're awesome cars. I loved driving it on long trips, it was a perfect car for me and i'm sure for most people. Unfortunately my sister managed to roll it but amazingly she walked away unscathed. We owe that car everything for keeping her safe in a really rough accident. Oh and watch out for the passenger side rear wheelwell they tend to rust there.

  • @DaddytechEnt
    @DaddytechEnt 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

*Sable needs a coil pack and maybe a new set of plugs & wires. i had the exact same set up in my 2000 taurus with the 3800 V6 even if it needed head gaskets, it's an afternoon of work. i don't think that's the issue with this one though unless someone replaced the head gaskets and didn't put new head bolts in it when they put it back together. those are torque to yield bolts ( aka one time use ) THESE CARS WERE BAD ABOUT PUSHING THE FREEZE PLUGS OUT in the transmission bell housing and good luck finding the right size replacements. That may also be why you smell coolant. By the way if you get it i still have a coil pack here from my 2000 Taurus that i never got to put on it i can hook you up with. i like the VW too the Grand Marquis is a Niche market that's what makes them hard to sell. don't just walk away from that one, RUN! if they've been into the wiring that's a total nightmare.Yeah, don't see the Beretta's much any more. I had an 88 GT with the 2.8L v 6 when i was with my first wife and yeah that thing screamed. but ended up trading it off for an S-10 Blazer when my daughter arrived. just needed something with more room in it. never had an issue with the car.LMAO, "i can't read your writing" I hear that all the time! that's why i got into computers lol That Hyundai is the move you should make out of all of them you looked at. can't believe a dented oil pan is all that totaled that one out and there's literally not another thing wrong with that one. looked for the duramax and didn't find it. if you didn't grab it i was going to. with no water n the engine that would be a running driving truck guaranteed! i'd have flown to roy rogers and ubered to copart then called AAA for a jump and drove that thing home to Tennessee*

I worked on a 06 5.4 F150 and I found the Timing chain nylon guides had broken off and clogged the oil pump screen and that engine was destroyed because of it.

Get the dirtymax, it’s only $1600 and it’ll probably run just fine, it’s nice and you should really buy it

Buy the F150; pull the driver's door and hammer the tear flat, maybe bondo it. Mercury has a leak in the brake booster.
