I like how you did a comparison test. I can always appreciate any helpful mods that help my car without a heavy focus on HP or torque gains (that's a young man's game). It would be dope if you compared this shroud to others i.e. Perrin, cobb, grimmspeed. Thanks for the great vid!
Quoted from the FAQs on Compressive Tuning’s website: DO I NEED A TUNE AFTER INSTALLING THE SMARTFLOW SHROUD? Smartflow Shroud does not require a tune, but we highly recommend one after installation if you have a chance. It’s similar to a cold air intake, since there’s a noticeable change in the air flow, a tune would maximize the improvement you get from the Smartflow Shroud. So, if you have a plan to get a tune, you could definitely put the Smartflow Shroud on the mods list. In an actual dyno test with the Smartflow Shroud on a fully stock STI, a tune with stock boost, we see more than a 30hps difference on the wheels before/after. The short answer is, not having a tune is fine but getting a tune after installing the Smartflow Shroud will definitely maximize your investment.
Love this product yeah may seem pricey but hey it actually helps direct airflow to the intake unlike the stock piece. When tracking ducts and things like this really help I removed my worthless Perrin one and replaced it with this.
From Compressive Tuning: DO I NEED TO WORRY ABOUT THE WATER GETTING INTO MY INTAKE SYSTEM? No, the safety of the engine is our top priority when designing our product. The Smartflow Shroud will help you get more air into the intake system, but won't accumulate any water. The distance between the main Ram Air Tray and the inlet duct won't allow water to travel up the flow system and it’s been tested in different weather conditions, on both race cars and street cars.
I really hate that black plastic OEM crap.this vid granted my wish to remove the ugly ass OEM plastic and have something more functional instead. Thanks guys. Ordered
@@multihobbieman that's true, there are tons of mods that are different. It just seemed like a weird time to bring it up on an install video that applies to an STI.
the only way this decreases engine bay temps is by diverting air from the radiator to the intake instead. not necessarily a good idea if you worry about overheating. They should hire some engineers so they can understand exactly what theyre doing
I think the design allows better air flow directly to both the intake and radiator, so better cooling efficiency for both instead of some of that air going to the engine bay
You fail to recognize the r&d process that is necessary to develop a part like this. It is a functional product unlike a lot of others out there. No one is stopping you from purchasing something cheaper, but there currently isn't a product out there like this on the market.
Love that look. Just the right amount of red sets off the engine bay. Thanks Kevin, from subispeed.

I really like the idea of this product, but the install is so involved!!
Love be blooper reel, great install video! I’ll be picking one up eventually 👌🏻
Kevin, from subispeed
This is what ive been waiting for
Really love watching your videos. When I get the money.... I will be getting one. 😁🤘 Keep up the great videos!
Curious if this will fit with a ETS FMIC or any FMIC nicely? I have a 2018 STI base
They should sell just the scoop piece separately for cheaper
Will this need a tune?
It changes the amount of air that goes into the engine, I need to clarify this. Thank you
Hi Kev, tight vid, those red radiator hose make it all come together, are these also available from SubiSpeed?
I'm curious to know too. Been wanting an Ets FMIC plus this
What if you have the Perrin oil cooler ? Would the lower air duct block it ? Fitment?
Already ordered 😍
Does anyone know if this shroud will fit over a Koyorad Radiator?
Any chance that the ram air tray will fit over the Perin oil cooler that sits just beneath it?
Can rain water also get shoved up in there? That would be my first concern during rainy days

Uh... any of them shrouds available for foresters?
What hella horn bracket are you using to get it to fit with the air duct?
Cant you guys just make the ram air trey ?? especially for those of use that already have perrin shhroud. The ram air trey is really all we need.
Cool product. Seems pretty excessive work for the install. Don’t see it being worth the trouble.
This can be used with the Perrin radiator shroud??
Can i use this product on my forester 2.5i 2017???
No, sorry.
Nice can i get one as a birthday gift lol
When i order my stage 1 kit throw one in my box along with
Sold
If there is a way of doing the install without removing the bumper I'm buying it ........
Luis C there is no way around it.

does this require a tune?
polloi84 looool hahaha
Yes it does.. Also involves replacing your intake bypass valve as well.
Damn...$270 and I have to tear my whole car face off...
All this to direct air that's being sucked in by the Turbo anyways. Its not a NA car so I don't get it....
Its not about pushing air in, its about using cooler air. If it drops intake temps enough it could help with the heat soak these cars are known for.
i guess youre full varis, vape and wrx ?
Tune required.
I might not be joking.
0:15, arabic writing on a US spec car, strange 🤔 (it's on the on the radiator)
Mohammad Al-Ghamdi , because ISIS... nah, there's multiple languages on there.
Mr O You're right. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to leave a comment in English. I'm an Arab
Can you do more performance mods on the STI instead of the WRX
multihobbieman this mod is for both... installs the same.
It wasn't aimed towards this mod in particular, there are mods that have a different install process depending on whether or not it is an STI or WRX
@@multihobbieman that's true, there are tons of mods that are different. It just seemed like a weird time to bring it up on an install video that applies to an STI.
Most recent video so more likely to be seen

LoL. The tune is base around the intake. Now you messed with the intake.......

Binden isn't even President yet and they keep adding 51-minute commercials. STOP IT!!!!!!!
ad block is your friend
$270 for a couple pieces of metal? Nah. Hard pass.
Jacob Larsen using your logic your car is a hunk of metal for ~$30,000
Yea these companies are a rip off.
SubiSpeed kevin savage haha
That's like comparing one ridiculously over priced brick to a reasonably priced, fully furnished home.

Save yourself some money and 3D print your own
Do I need to get my car tuned? *sarcasm*
A Prova copycat
Want even more airflow? Run no shroud at all. Free flow literally
justchillin619 that wouldn't create more airflow
wayyy to much. way way way to much money
Want your car to run cooler? Pickup a nicer radiator. Nuff Said.
