      Thank you! I made this video to showcase the capabilities of the laser cutter. I eventually sold the piece for 300€. Funny thing is that I've made an extra 300€ from add revenue from YoutTube, which made me rethink the real value of that particular piece. I now own a machining business in which I've invested almost 200000€ and I have to work almost 60 hours a week just to cover the expenses to keep the doors open. This video is making money 365 days a year and I don't have to pay anything for it. I've come to the conclusion that I'm now in the wrong business. I can't live with the revenue from my youtube videos but I sometimes wonder what would have happened if I have kept making videos each week for the past five or six years. 🤔

    I understand you did this for demo reasons, but I make these sort of signs regularly but go about it a little differently. I have found that edge lighting the acrylic is the better way to about it LED and construction efforts wise. The only thing is you need to find external frosted acrylic insuring that the inner edges are clear throughout.

    Hello,
    I just saw all your video! They are brilliant, bravo.
    Your workshop makes me dream I confess I am jealous.
    Oh sorry I translate with google I do not speak english.
    I have 2 questions if I can afford.
    What are the CNC milling models and your turning machine? We see these two machines on your marathon trophy video.
    Your Speedy 300 with all accessories, filtration, camera for position etc ... what was your budget? It must exceed 50'000 € not?
    Thank you in advance and a very good year 2017
    Fred

    • @lnelab2573
      @lnelab2573  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Frédéric Marca Hi thanks for your kind words and sorry for the delay.
      Our milling machine is the F1210-C hs and the lathe is the D-6000. Both are from a manufacturer called wabeco in Germany. Since we bought them, we've found that you can find the exact same models from other vendors. As for the price for the Trotec Speedy 300, the only thing I can say is that it's closer to 40k€. We didn't order the filtration system and we don't consider having the camera option a must have. Other than that having purchased the speedy 300 has been one of the best business decisions since we started in 2014.
      Hope this helps.

    Nice piece. Is it licensed by Robert Indiana? ;)

    • @elvspretzl
      @elvspretzl 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Travis Clark • Correct. I believe it’s okay to make for personal use, but to sell these would would constitute intellectual property theft. Probably some gray area if the person posting profits from viewership. Nonetheless, Robert Indiana should have been given credit in the title or description, imho.
      Aside from that, it’s a great instructional video.

    Thought that this video is awesome! Thank you for sharing. I too have a Speedy 300, and find that my mind gets crammed with ideas like this, with endless possibilities. Question for you - how do you price these items? Watching how much work, effort and the materials used within your video, how do you price to sell something like this?

    • @lnelab2573
      @lnelab2573  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. The Speedy 300 is the kind of machine you enjoy working with it everyday, we've been using it since January 2014 and we are still in LOVE. For a custom made project like this one we usually charge 40€/hour to make the cad files, minimum 150€. Then we add 60€/hour when cutting with the laser. For assembly and finishing work we charge 30€ per hour. And finally we add the costs of the materials and shipping costs. Those costs may vary, for instance if your order is above 1000€ we don't charge for the cad process. Hope this helps ;-)

      @ratbagzbigpondnetau 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Awesome, but if you made it like 20% smaller you could have used all of that "waste" material as well. Would make a massive difference in time and cost with little real effect on the final product. You could cut two at once!

    • @lnelab2573
      @lnelab2573  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, the design is that big because we wanted to show people how large one could make the sign using the speedy 300. We usually precut the stock material so that we don't generate too much waste. Unfortunately when we decided to make the video that's the only size we had available. Thanks for commenting :-).

      The CAD files are free to download. You can find them in the description box. It shouldn’t be difficult to find a workshop with a laser cutter that offer you the cutting service. I think the hole project would fit in a full 6x4 sheet of 1/4” MDF. For the front frame and back, we used 1/8” MDF. The total cost of materials should be around 70$ USD including the led strips, MDF, frosted acrylic and paint. Hope this helps.

As a business owner you shouldn't consider promoting your abilities as a waste of time.
